I wanted soup and a sandwich but I didn't want to eat that much. The man behind the counter cheerful said, " get half a sandwich and soup special!" I had no idea they had that deal! The pictures do the meal no justice.. It really was a yummy lunch.

On top of that, the pricing was great. Our waiter was great, but the pacing of the meal could have been smoother since it took about 45 minutes to get our entrees. There were a couple of other notable downsides. The restaurant was quite loud, and to top it all off, a woman at the table right next to us had her shoes off. Management really should have controlled that kind of behavior, as it detracts from the dining experience. Furthermore, despite making reservations to celebrate our anniversary, the restaurant did not acknowledge it at all. That was unfortunate. They were crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, and filled with flavorful meat. The sauces paired perfectly with them and made an already great appetizer even better. Everything was juicy, cooked perfectly, and seasoned just enough without being overpowering. The steak was surprisingly tender despite being well done, with just the right amount of fat. The sausage had a great snap, the egg was perfectly jammy, and the chicharrón was absolutely incredible--crispy, crunchy, and easily one of the best I've had. I didn't try the sweet plantains since I'm not a fan and they couldn't be substituted. The arepa was good, although nothing particularly memorable. The only parts of the meal I wasn't impressed with were the rice, which was a bit too salty for my taste, and the beans, which lacked flavor and were underwhelming. For dessert, I tried both the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. The tiramisu was just okay--it wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out, and I wouldn't order it again. The chocolate cake, however, was outstanding. It was incredibly moist, rich without being overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, Salento does an amazing job with their meats, and that's what I'd recommend most. I approached the counter to order and the server was happy to answer questions regarding what was included with the meal (pita sandwich with choice of side plus a drink). It came out to be $13 plus tip which is pretty reasonable these days. The establishment itself is very clean and there was plenty of seating during lunch time. Parking should also not be an issue. The setting itself is very casual, but the food was high quality. As for the food itself, the chicken salad was seasoned excellently and didn't have that weird taste sometimes associated with refrigerated chicken. The pasta salad was tasty, and the fountain soda was properly carbonated and flavored. It also came out within 5 or so minutes of ordering it. Give this place a shot!

Jerk chicken is generally one of those thats right on the borderline of too hot for me. To give you an idea, if you're familiar with Butthutt BBQ's jerk chicken, theirs is as far as I can go for spice level. So I switched it up to be safe, and I am glad I did. Sweet and sticky, these had really great flavor inside and out. Would definitely get these again in the future. Brought a couple home to the hubby and he seemed to enjoy them too, and he normally doesn't like, what he refers to as, "sweet meat". I had three different beers in my favorite tasting style, sour. My wife tried their Meatball Madness pizza, which she ordered St. Louis Style. She'd never tried that style of pizza before and she really liked it. It's a very thin crust pizza, cut into squares. She REALLY liked the meatballs to the point where she kept saying that the next time we come back, she wants to try their spaghetti & meatballs. We got there right at 4:30 when they open for dinner and they were packed almost instantly. It's worth noting that our server Kelsie was fantastic through the whole meal.
