Chili's officials apologized to Army Veteran Ernest Walker for the incident and thanked him for his service, Kelli Valade, Chili's Grill & Bar President, said in a statement. "We took swift action and immediately removed our manager from the restaurant," Valade said. "We are now in the process of working with Mr. Walker on a resolution that promotes trust and healing." Walker's lawyer, Lee Merritt, said during a press conference he met with leaders from Chili's and the restaurant's parent company, Brinker International on Monday morning to discuss the incident. Merritt said the parties are working on the legal aspects of the incident, since the manager "assaulted" his client, though he said Walker does not want to see the manager permanently fired. "[He's] not interested in seeing the young man fired; didn't want to see anyone lose their job," Merritt said, adding that Walker is not on a "witch hunt." Chili's under fire after manager takes free meal from vet on Veterans Day The restaurant chain has faced fierce criticism since the incident, with many calling for boycotts of the organization on social media. Walker captured part of the altercation with the manager in a Facebook video which he posted on Friday afternoon. According to Walker, he went to Chili's, which was offering free Veterans Day meals, with his service dog and was waiting for his to-go order when an older white man questioned him about his military service. "[He] asked me what unit did I serve in the 24th, I said no the 25th. He said he was in World War 2 in Germany and we did not see people like you over there," Walker wrote. "They would not allow blacks." Walker said he just listened to the man and waited for his food. Later, a manager walked over to him and asked him for his military ID. "The manager comes and says some guests at the restaurant say that you're not a real Soldier," Walker wrote. "I reply, 'what are you serious what guest?' The manager Wesly Patrick said can I see military ID?  I felt that was reasonable, most people ask for that, so I showed him my ID it checked out." Walker said he started recording when the manager questioned whether his dog was a service dog. In the video, Walker appeared to hold an I.D. and asked the manager whether he's checked it. In the video, things continue to escalate, and the manager takes the meal from Walker. Valade said in the statement that the incident was not in line with the restaurant's mission. "Our goal is to make every Guest that walks into our restaurants feel special, and we fully own that one of our restaurants fell short on an important day where we strive to honor our veterans and active military for their service," Valade said. It's ok for a Chili's not my favorite one. Service is hit or miss but food is standard and good for Chili's.

Was in a pinch for dinner, so I placed an order online for takeout. Service was very polite and efficient on pickup. Food was pretty good (by chain standards). Would have got another star, but the dish I ordered (margarita chicken) had a picture and description of being served over beans and rice. Neither happened. read more

I have been here twice in the last 2 months. The first experience wasn't worth noting but I decided to try it again. We weren't welcomed upon arrival but we were seated quickly. Waitress showed up a short time later and took our drink orders. My husband ordered the bottomless chips and salsa, when he asked the waitress for another round she said "yeah I see it" and walked away. When she returned with the chips and salsa she took our food orders. It took nearly 25 minutes for the order to come up on a very slow Sunday afternoon. And wow! the portions continue to shrink while the price stays the same or goes up. The full order of cheese fries is now half an order! Once the waitress brought our food she disappeared and never returned to ask how we were doing or to see if we needed anything else. Near the end of our meal she appeared again just to drop the check, no thank you or have a nice day for us. Mediocre service, small portion sizes and food quality will keep me from giving Chili's any more chances. read more

I had a disappointing dinner with my family here. I ordered a burger, but it arrived very pink in the middle! I normally don't mind a little pink, but it made my stomach turn to take a bite of mushy, rare ground beef. My husband ordered a chicken salad, and asked for avocado to be added, but they forgot the avocado. The waitress did get the avocado for him and was nice enough to leave that, and my burger off the bill. We had Texas cheese fries for the appetizer, but there was a piece of extra hard bacon (or something ) that caused my tooth to crack in half when I bit into it! It just seemed like one thing after another with this place. And I felt uncomfortable after the second complaint, so I didnt even mention my cracked tooth, or the fact that my son asked for barbecue sauce and the other waitress never brought it. The only positive experience about our visit was our waitress, Alisha. She was so helpful and understanding! Employees like Alisha are the only reason customers give some restaurants a second chance. So Five stars for my waitress, but Zero stars for the food preparation. read more

Trying to decide between a AYCE soup and salad, or a buffalo chicken salad. I asked the server how big the buffalo salad was and she said it was huge, because we everything BIG here. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. When it came it was a small salad plate with a few slices of chicken. I voiced my displeasure with a small amount and the female server in a snotty attitude said "well I think it's big" pissed me right off. Went for dinner here like we usually do because it is so close. We go here 2 to 3 times a week. They first got the drink wrong. The chips and salsa went suppose to be salt free. That was wrong. Wife ordered a chicken sandwich that was suppose to come with bacon and onions. It had neither one. Then they charged for 2 drinks and it was suppose to be 1. Other than a cook that couldn't read the order it was great food. We might start going to Beef OBrady because of all the mistakes they make with our order. read more

If I could I would give this Chili's 4 1/2 stars. We eat here often, both inside and curb side pick up, as we live very close by and we are never disappointed. The food is consistently very good as is the service. One of my often ordered favorites is the steak on the 2 for $20.00 menu. Always cooked perfectly. I can get a steak, broccoli and loaded mashed potatoes for $10.00 without getting out of my car so why would I go to McDonalds and pay $8 for a blah burger and fries! read more

Here in Florida we are quite accustomed to both hot weather and loads of tourists. When going to a chain like Chili's you go to escape one, and usually end up encountering the other. The servers are excellent at making everyone feel like a local and treating every table as more than just a tip. With the tremendous food they serve, I'm not surprised. The combination of fire-grilled tastes, experienced cooks and bartenders, alongside warm and friendly serving staff, Chili's makes for an excellent family outing or 1st date destination. The welcoming atmosphere lends to the great converstion to be had at not only your's but every table. Those who frequent the place will tell you- in the midst of a Florida summer, escaping into the cool air with a warm atmosphere makes any scorcher that much better. The only thing you may run into is a wait to get in on a Friday night- thus proving how faithful the locals and tourist alike, are. read more

I was impressed how well the group of employees works together, if one sees a glass empty, they ask if another is needed, rather than waiting for our server to notice as they are waiting on other tables, it was nice to see everyone assisting everyone else, something you don't see in many locations. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. First the service was terrible. Considering it wasn't very busy that night she was MIA an awful lot. Second the food was horrible. I ordered a steak medium. It came out rare & cold twice. The broccoli was mush. The potatoes were the only half way decent thing on the plate & those tasted like they came out of a box. I ordered a pizza for my kid. Chili's food offerings are pretty standard across the U.S. No one goes to Chili's looking for a Michelin Star dining experience. However, the service at this Chili's is beyond... My cousin and I went here back in August after having a terrible experience at a dump-hole salon in Trinity. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. However, it took our slow as molasses waitress a full 15 minutes to come to our table. She wasn't even busy. We actually saw her in the kitchen area on the phone the whole time we were waiting and kept making jokes that she was our waitress. Joke was on us as she was. When she finally approached, she was one hot-mess. Confused on if we had been help, how long we were waiting, etc. The hostess told her that she told her she had a table and Sarah's response was, "I told you I was on the phone." Lovely. From start to finish she sucked. Service took forever. The orders were mixed up. There were changes made to our food that did not reflect the menu descriptions. Sarah kept disappearing and she had only one other table! We all kept looking at each other in sympathy. When she finally returned with the check she asked how everything was and I told her it would have been better had we been able to find you during service. Stopped by for lunch with friends. Seated immediately. Server was polite and promptly took our order. Food came out quickly. Skip the nachos. Way overpriced for serving size. About 14 chips layed in a circular pattern on the plate. Certainly not the mound of chips you get most places. Onion rings were good. Wifes burger was ok. I was impressed not by the food, Chilis is Chilis. It's good but not great, but my daughter left her IPad there one day when we ate there and we called to see if they had it and they said they did not see it. There is no password on this thing so anyone could just keep it no problem, but we left our phone number and our server called the next day and said she saw my daughter using it and put it out of sight in case we came back for it and since there is no password on it, I must believe her because if she wanted to keep it she could have, and had it been left out or simply put in left behind stuff it could have been taken by anyone. I wish I could give a 2.5 -- I settled on the lower end because I'm reviewing this location; not the chain. I called to ask if I could use some old coupons I found in an old purse. Someone (hostess, I assume) answered the phone and was nice as can be - great first impression! We went in and were sat in the lounge. I used to work at Chili's and the lounge is self-seating, so I thought it was odd. We really didn't care, so I didn't fuss. My server, however, was a young guy and he gave terrible service. My boyfriend and I work in the industry and are usually generous tippers. We know the difference between a busy server and a server that doesn't care. We had the latter. Our server was rushing us -- he never STOPPED at the table, other than to quickly take our orders, and even that seemed rush. It almost made me feel nervous. Everything else, he said in passing, "everything oka---", he had already turned the corner. I didn't even get the chance to ask for a side of sauce or extra napkins. I watched him to see if he was busy, but I noticed him going back and forth between the kitchen and across the hall on his cell. Disappointing. He was across the hall when our food was brought about by a VERY nice female server. She noticed our drinks were empty and refilled them without us asking, brought us extra napkins, and the item my boyfriend was missing from his plate. Even though she was serving a table that wasn't hers (us), she didn't appear to be in a rush at all. I wish I could have given her the tip. We still tipped 20% because working in the industry, we would never tip anything lower -- but it's a shame we were given such crappy service with the exception of the other girl. I wish I knew hew name, I would request her next time. I did want to mention how IMPRESSED I was with Chili's "3 for Me" deal. I was craving a cheeseburger, so it was perfect! I got a salad, bacon cheeseburger and fries, AND a molten cake (of my own!) for $10. My boyfriend got the same. In combination with the 2 "Be our Guest" coupons I had, we spent $15.00, with tip for the two of us to eat. Amazing deal. Another great promotion by Chilis. I have worked for Brinker Chili's in Knoxville. I also worked for 3 years at the Aramark Chili's on FSU campus. Both have been the best restaurants I have worked for. Great company. I don't, however like the credit card machines on the table. I guess it saves servers and customers time -- but it's so impersonal -- just a preference, I suppose. read more
