Came here for the first time on Saturday and had such a bad experience I don't think we'll be back. If you decide to order the Broaster chicken, be warned that it could take up to an hour to prepare if they're busy! My main complaint with this place isn't as much with the hour wait, but more with the way it was handled. I mean, yes there are signs saying the chicken is cooked fresh to order and would take 15 minutes usually. And then when we ordered our 4 piece chicken meals, we were told that the kitchen was busy and that it could be a 20-25 min wait, which I was ok with because I was really excited about trying Broaster chicken. However, the 25 minute estimate came and went, and we were still waiting and wondering if it was coming out soon. No updates, and no acknowledgement from the staff. After over 40 minutes I went and asked if the lady could check to see if the order was still being prepared or if it had perhaps been given to someone else. Without even checking my receipt or asking for my name and/or order, I received a snappy response that there was no way it has been 40+ minutes already. How rude and dismissive! A few minutes after that encounter, the same lady, who my wife assumes is the owner, came back and told us that our food would be out shortly. Then after nearly 54 or 55 minutes of waiting our food finally was brought to us. Once we were eating, the lady came back several times to check on us and apologize which got no response from me. Too little too late. Where was all the attention and updates earlier when we were left wondering if we had been forgotten about?! We had originally planned on staying for dessert but after that experience we decided to leave and not spend any additional time or money at this place. Went on 11/2/19 with my husband. We ordered two 4 piece chicken meals with macaroni and cheese ($13.) We also ordered a side of spicy fried cauliflower ($5.) It was busy because it was 12:49 PM on a Saturday, so despite the sign that says please allow 15 minutes for the fried chicken, we were told it would be 20-25 minutes. Okay, that's fine. At 1:33 PM, 44 minutes after ordering, my husband went to ask the lady who seems to be the owner if our order had been lost or perhaps given to someone else. The lady snapped that it hasn't been 45 minutes yet. My husband said, "how would you know, you didn't even look at our receipt? We ordered at 12:49." Our food finally came out to our table at 1:43 PM - 54 minutes after ordering. All the sudden the owner was keen to check on us and make sure everything was fine, did we need boxes, etc. That sort of service would have been nice while we were actually waiting for our food. We noticed we had extra biscuits and mac and cheese with our order, but it didn't matter because we always toss any bread that comes with our meals and the mac and cheese was a congealed mess that we tossed in the trash. I noticed other patrons having to ask where parts of their orders were because stuff was missing. A little boy at another table, probably about 6, was wimpering because he was hungry. I don't know what was going on that they were so frazzled, but for a place with a drive through window that they were taking orders from, this is ridiculous. I totally understand getting backed up or running out of product, but don't insult your customers by saying it will be 20 minutes when it's going to be an hour. My time is valuable just as much as anyone else's time is. I would rather an owner be honest with me and I'll come back when whatever their issue is is sorted, than be lied to and my time wasted. We had planned to get dessert after our meal, but we were so annoyed, we left and won't be returning. My family came here for dinner after riding on the train. We were so excited to try this spot for the first time as we heard great things. Our order included broasted chicken which we were aware takes 20 minutes but we weren't aware it would take over an hour of us waiting in the cold with a toddler to still not receive our food. We went up several times asking about our food the 1st time at 45 minutes the 2nd time at 60 minutes waiting and just told us the chicken takes awhile. After going up a 3rd time the cashier just handed us our money back, no explanation and no food! We wasted an hour of our time in the cold to get nothing and ended up going to Foxxs BBQ instead. At one time, this was the "must go" place for great broasted chicken parts. They also once had really good homemade coleslaw and biscuits to go with the meals. In a poor business strategy, they have transitioned from great chicken parts to acceptable and costly chicken tenders. Their coleslaw recipe has changed and is now dry of dressing and barely edible. The biscuits are also dry now. Based on other reviews, I expect that the management will react very defensively to criticisms of their quality. But let me assure you that this review is not based on a single visit. I have already given them a second chance. Lastly, in consideration of the reduction in quality, they have raised their prices AND discontinued their senior discount. The go-to when we stop in is a Dole Whip Float because it's tangy, refreshing, and the perfect treat to beat the heat. This past trip out to Boulder City I also got the chance to try the canyon caprese as we stopped in around lunch time. The sandwich has fresh mozzarella, tomato, and pesto and it definitely hit the spot after we had spent the morning walking around at the dam. I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch again to try out some of the other menu items (the burgers looked really good coming out of the kitchen). I always make it a point to stop a Chilly Jilly'z when we go out to Boulder City or the dam, and I'm happy I got to bring a few friends along on this past trip. Review for the Patio at Chilly Jilly'z. First time here although I have driven by this place when I have been in the area. I thought this established was ice cream based treats based on the name, pictures and reviews I had seen on Yelp. On this visit I had breakfast next door on The Patio. This was a break about halfway through are ride around Boulder so right off the bat an establishment where we can bring our bikes in and have eyes on them next to our table already gets high marks from me. A few different items caught my eye on the menu but chicken and waffles was right at the top so I went with that. The chicken was fried perfectly and the waffle was cooked correctly making it the perfect combination of sweet, salty, juicy, and crunchy. I've been disappointed by this combo at other establishments when the waffle is too mushy or the chicken overcooked. Service was great! Never had to ask for a refill and were checked on during our meal. read more
