If you've never been to a Brazilian steakhouse then you're in for a feast! Ok now there is a huge buffet and everything on the buffet is amazing. I love love love the seafood salad yes it's All you can eat. As you're sitting there feasting away there are Gauchos walking around with all sorts of cuts of Beef (Bacon Wrapped Filet Migon, Flank, and a few others I can't remember), Lamb Chops, and Chicken. Now don't forget the Pineapple with the Cinnamon and Brown Sugar I probably ate a whole Pineapple to myself. Everything at Chima was amazing and so delicious. It was a never ending parade of meat! A parade which I never wanted to end..... I went here last night for a wedding reception. They have a few separate dining areas on the second floor if you have an event you want to hold there and it was intimate yet enough room to walk around and air your meat sweats. The salad bar was ok....I was expecting more variety but the artichoke salad and creamy veggie soup made up for that. Before the meat came out, they set out polenta fries and creamy mashed potatoes then game on---flip that card to yes please and bring out the meat!! The meat men (seriously, what is their title) come out decked in kerchiefs ala Don Knotts on Three's Company armed with a stick of meat. At one point I just stopped asking what it was and just said sure. The bacon wrapped sirloin was my by far my favorite because bacon wrapped items are proof that god loves us and the bbq ribs was my second favorite. I hear a rumor that there was pesto crusted lamb but by that point I never wanted to look at another piece of meat ever again and I also wanted to write an apology note to my colon. The service was impeccable, drinks were flowing (I had their signature drink which was like a mojito but without the mint) and atmosphere was chic. The view from the second floor bar was beautiful plus when you leave they had a huge bowl of individually wrapped mints-like the expensive ones. I can't wait to get my meat on again! read more

I booked Reservations because I've alwaysss wanted to dine here. After last night I will never step foot in here again. We were 20 minutes into eating & the fire alarm went off, okay understandable, not the restaurants fault(condos upstairs), but the way the manager handled it was completely inappropriate. He said that we had to evacuate immediately, and we only had 4 pieces of meat & we were expected to pay full price!! Once the alarm was resolved, it was 9pm by then they were closed but mind you 30 minutes of our dinner was cut short bc none of the staff in the restaurant knew how to handle the situation or seemed like they really knew what was happening? The manager told us he would not be bringing more meat out. Our server (Brittany who was AMAZING) kept trying to ask the manager to feed us because she was well aware of the situation, but he would not budge. This was only for my table of 12 POC. Once we were kicked out we watched as the restaurant stayed open to serve another large party of individuals. (I'm not going to mention their race but you all should know...) We left hungry and pissed off oh & still paid over $700... to still be hungry. What an awful combo, and for this restaurant to be such a "high end dining" place. We did not get that experience at all. 0/10 I would not recommend especially if you are a person of color, you just won't get the same experience. read more

Brazilian steak houses are generally what dreams are made however this place is heaven. Located in the heart of uptown Chima comes with a back home of upscale while filling your belly with many flavors. The salad bar is very impressive and has rice and beans, salad mixes to tabouleh salads and some of the nicest charcuterie findings you have ever seen. However the main course is the meat. When we went they had the summer special which was $35 for 8 of their 18 meats and no desert while the full special was 49 and included all 18 meats and desert. The differences in meats is the beef rib, shrimp and salmon and other cuts. If you're a meat connoisseur get the full course. All the major needs are offered in medium or rare and they're full of flavor. One of my favorites was the beef rip and the cajun NY strip. Highly recommended. The house seasoned picadinho cut is also very tasty. Come with an appetite as we made the mistake of eating lunch and got full pretty quick! read more

They are always asking "are we going to the place in the city , so we are quite regulars here. Every 2 months. The meat is plentiful but also flavorful and the salad bar is my al time favorite. Early dinner after saturday matinee at blumenthal. Reservations are a MUST because it was a full house from opening at 5pm. Buffet salad bar was enormous with too many choices to list, all veggies exceptionally fresh and constantly refreshed by very attentive staff. Impressive wine list-lots of diversity for all tastes. Meats course was a bit sporadic. Saw many choices come by us and never stopped. Only until we mentioned to our server that we would like some of the previously seen selections did they begin to circulate through. One draw back-restrooms were upstairs which seemed a bit strange to basically have to go to the exit doors then navigate stairs to go to back of upstairs space for ladies room. (There was an elevator that we noticed after our trek). Hubby was in love with the lamb selections-so highly recommend if that's your taste. All beef cuts were perfectly cooked and plentiful. The service and atmosphere is incredible. With reservation we walked in and were seated immediately. We visited on a Thursday at 6:45pm so this may not be everyone's experience, especially on the weekend. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the drink and food menus. This helped people in our group who had never dined at a restaurant like this before. The gauchos kept a steady rotation of all the meats and skewers on the menu, so we got the opportunity to sample everything multiple times. The salad bar was phenomenal as well. Our picky kid found plenty on the salad bar and amongst the main courses to try and enjoyed many of them. The roasted pineapple was a huge hit with me, in addition to the steaks of course. The bill was a bit steep at the end, so if you're on a budget be sure to ask about pricing for everything you do. Lastly, one of our party recently celebrated a birthday, so they brought out a complimentary strawberry cheesecake for them. All in All, if you're in the Charlotte area, check them out. I can't recommend them high enough. I wish I would have taken photos to attach, but we had such a great time, my phone stayed in my pocket where it belongs. One last thing, there is a dress code. This is an overly expensive Brazilian BBQ. Similar to Brazil but definitely not the same. Key to Brazilian bbq is salt and seasoning. This restaurant does not season meat in the traditional way. There are meats that are prepared and offered that are also not traditional. However, you will get a ton of food here. Staff is very attentive and it is a nice restaurant. Very untrue, I had exceptional tender meat and even the chicken that I passed two times, but the group that I was with kept on raving about the chicken, so I dove in and gave it a try. It was by far the most juiciest, tender and full of flavor chicken I've had in a long time. They where fast, but I could see an issue with people eating upstairs, not saying there was. Hello I am writing to talk about an experience I had at Chima Charlotte on Saturday, December 11th at 7:30PM. I set up a reservation a few weeks ahead for 3 at 7:30PM. We arrived at Chima at 7:27PM and quickly noticed there were about 30-50 people standing around in the waiting area. We were told that the restaurant was behind on their reservations and they could not give us an estimate on when we would be seated. We proceeded to wait for over an hour to get seated. Every 15 minutes, I would ask the hostesses (there were 3) about where I stood in line and they would tell me, "There are 4 people ahead of you, There are 2 people ahead of you, There are 3 people ahead of you" and each time, I would accept this answer and watch more than 4 or 2 or 3 parties go and never get called. I was very upset about this process. There seemed to be no standard process for seating people or they weren't communicating honestly about where I stood in the line. I was disappointed about the wait (because I did have a reservation) but was just hoping for honesty and transparency from your hostesses. They also seemed to have attitudes when I would ask for updates. This was a terrible experience for first time customers. When we finally got seated (after over an hour of waiting), we had great service and enjoyed our meal. But the initial issues with the hostesses makes me weary of returning to Chima. read more

They ended up staying open at least 3 hours after closing in order to fit in all of the promised reservations and meals. Busy and loud atmosphere. I got broccoli and asparagus thinking theyd be over a heater or something but they were freezing cold. We went to Chima last night celebrating my birthday with a party of 11. While we were there, it was a little frustrating that there wasn't a lot of selection of meats. And while some of it was great, some other items (like the chicken, salmon, lamb) just lacked flavor and/or was overcooked. Several times the gaucho ran out of an item at our table and left, but didn't bring back out more for the rest of the table. I realize that a party of 11 is large, so I just let that go and tried to focus on the experience, and if we flagged down someone and asked for something, they would bring it out; it was just a hassle to keep doing that. But most importantly, and the reason for the lowest review, is that within an hour or two of leaving the restaurant, 3 of our 11 came down with food poisoning. Most of us live an hour outside of Charlotte, and by the time we had gotten home, we were already sick. We've tried to figure out what we three ate that the others didn't, but we aren't totally sure. It's a super expensive meal, so bad service and less than stellar food is disappointing, to say the least. But the food poisoning takes it to a whole new level of low. I feel completely horrible because we were celebrating my birthday, so my friends and family spent an enormous amount of money on their dinner only to get sick in the process. Needless to say, we won't be back to your restaurant. I have tried to contact the restaurant and will probably notify the Health Department as well to try to ensure that other diners are safe in the future. read more

Overly cooked well done meats for a Brazilian is not correct, the meat was too hard, too thick (way too fat, fiber texture) not pleasant. The hostess did the best she could, not her fault. I made reservation for December 31, 2024. The reason why I made the reservation was because it was my 20th birthday, and I wanted to celebrate with my family which I did. The meal offered was the NYE special at a special price which included drinks that was never refilled just the tap water and a dessert per person. Some of the meats were flavorless, and the dessert offered was a cheesecake, flan or chocolate cake. Once again the waiter visited our table multiple times never once refilling our teas which came with our meal. The cheesecake was not fresh, the chocolate cake was cold and hard.I did not like the factor that the waiter offered a select of desserts, however, offered another table a different selection which looked better than what we got served. I especially did not like the factor that Chimas, four days after I visited the restaurant for my birthday decided to put $80 hold on my credit card after I spent $250 cash and $95 on a credit card for our meal for four people on December 31st. The audacity for the restaurant to hold on my credit card the $80 after spending nearly $400 which included tip, the manager to coming to my table the night of the 31st to speak to myself and my family along with the waiter, saying that I will get special surprise at the end of night in celebration of my birthday, which I never did. I guess the surprise was the $80 hold on my credit card four days after my visit to the restaurant was my surprise. Now I can't get a call back to find out why my card was held. read more

I don't understand the reviews about meat not coming around or not getting something requested. That has never been an issue and we have been eating here for years. The staff were very hospitable and take very great care of the guest I will definitely frequent this spot when I'm in Charolette. To preface this review, this was the 4th or 5th "Brazilian Steakhouse" I've been to. This does not make me an expert in how they operate. That being said this was not a great experience. I look at a lot of things when reviewing a restaurant on here, to include cleanliness, efficiency, comfort, and taste. When it came to its cleanliness, superb. Very clean, 1 star. In regards to comfort, this place is loud, as in I couldn't hear the person 3 feet from me. The patrons of this restaurant are unruly, loud, a little obnoxious. A lot of "Applebee's" style birthday songs being sung by the patrons themselves. If I was looking to take clients out to eat for a business meeting or go on a nice quit date, this would be the last place I would pick. That table felt as though it was cheaply pieced together to make it larger and in doing so created ridges and low spots. I know a lot of this isn't the restaurant's fault but it goes into part of the review none the less and for that, half a star. Efficiency, this is a bad one. We made reservations days in advance, picking the most convenient time for all 4 of us as we had to drive 2 hours to eat here. The staff confirmed our size and time earlier that day. When we arrived we waited nearly 20 minutes for our table, what was the point in a reserved table? The unruly guests play into this in that tables are treated like party locations. Several tables were there when we arrived and there when we left, creating a shortage of tables. The idea of being seated, holding conversation during the meal, finishing and going for drinks at a different location to continue said conversation is a thing of the past I suppose. Again, not the locations fault, but be aware of the type of crowd that attends this place. Once we had been seated, our waitress promptly came out and put in our drinks. At $12 a glass minimum, we skipped on wine and stayed with water, I had a glass of tea. We saw our waitress 2 more times, my tea, never refilled. The gouchos, working feverishly, running here and there with meat, briefly bombarded us with meats and then, that was it. We received maybe 7 small portions of very rare meat, all the while keeping our tokens orange side up indicating "please serve us meat". We waited, but that was it, we didn't get served for another 30-35 minutes. Our plates sat empty, $150+ for two people and I received a few slivers. Meanwhile we could see other, larger tables being frequented often by the gouchos. In regards to COVID-19, the staff is still wearing masks, for some of you, I know this is important but because this place is so loud, I couldn't hardly understand a word anyone from the staff was saying. For all of this, no stars. For the food. I leave a space for 2 stars when looking at the over all location, unless the food is so good that I can overlook everything else and leave 5 stars for taste alone. Not the case here. Every other "Brazilian steakhouse" I've been to had a huge variety of meats. From filet mignon to ribeye, from turkey to ostrich, from lamb chops to pork loin. This place had steak, gristle covered sirloin to be exact. I got one small piece of filet, some half decent flank steak and a sausage. Everything else was sirloin that half had to be cut away. Not a good grilled fat like on a ribeye, but gristle, requiring a portion of every piece to be pushed aside. The grilled pineapple was good, but let's be honest, you aren't going to a steakhouse for pine apple. Not a single piece of fowl or pork. Right before we left, we finally managed to get a lamb chop that was well, disappointing to say the least. If you are looking for that warm pink center (medium) to your meat, this is not your place, everything is medium rare to rare. The mashed potatoes had the consistency of runny creamy of wheat and requires a spoon to eat. The fried banana was inedible, the pop overs where good. The buffet portion was a catastrophe. The dishes didn't feel like they accompanied steak very well. The best thing was the mozzarella balls and roasted peppers. The smoked salmon was displayed so that it was impossible to remove a piece without smashing the salmon into tiny bits. Again, other steakhouses offered better options on their salad bar/buffet section so that this alone could be a meal. Over all, the food gets half a star with the pop overs, filet, flank steak and pineapple doing the work. The bill was roughly $130 with a recommendation for tips, it came to $150. I recently spent the same amount in southern pines on a quit location, amazing food, no mask service, outstanding wine and delicious appetizer. My point is, save your money, go somewhere else. If this is your first time for a "Brazilian steakhouse", and you want the experience (like no one member of our party) find another, smaller, more personal venue. I've been to 3 Brazilian Steakhouses before and this ranks in last place. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for 3 years and Restaurant Week gave me the excuse to do so. Sadly, I was disappointed with the experience. There were 2 options for meat choices: the 1st with about 8 basic meat choices (sirloin, chicken, pork) for $35 or the 2nd one which is the full Rodizio (more higher end cuts of beef, shrimp, lamb, shrimp) for $49.99; I chose the 2nd option. Both choices included the salad bar, which normally is $36 by itself; definitely not worth that price. The salad bar is not the basic salad bar, but more creative/fou-fou choices that i dont think appeal to a wide variety of people. . .but that just may be me. The servers were extremely diligent although the same 5 or 6 choices (lower choices) kept coming by. We were also given some "hot sides" of very whipped mashed potatoes, fried bananas, and fried polenta. These came is small side dishes. I was not a fan of any of them. The meat was not as flavorful or tender as I would have liked. The shrimp was difficult to remove from the shell. I ended up having only 3 because of that. The beef ribs were outstanding; extremely tender and not overdone. The filet was the toughest I've had. I did enjoy the Cajun Ribeye. I'm glad to have satisfied my curiosity but I will not return for a repeat performance. Overall. . .overpriced for the value and quality. read more
