Beyond disappointed in our experience with Chimcare. Initially we had a great experience and were excited to schedule install of two fireplaces. Both needed gas lines installed, one was to be a log set and the other a full unit. Gas line install went well, Jim was extremely professional and easy to work with. After that, everything went down hill. They came to install the logs for fireplace #1 and after a couple hours, realized we needed a chimney sweep. How was this not identified prior? So they paused the work, scheduled the sweep (which was an added cost we did not anticipate nor was in the estimate). This delayed the install, however they didn't alert the inspector. The inspector came, we sent him away, and waited for the work to be completed. Sweep was done (and left huge soot stains on our nice slider drapes), logs were finally installed. The unit for the 2nd fireplace was delayed, which we understood - right now there are a lot of issues with supply. No problem. Would have been nice to have communication though, they'd tell us an estimated delivery time, and we'd hear nothing until we pestered with multiple emails...just to hear it'd be another month. We also had a failed install date - they scheduled us, we had everything prepped (we work from home with a baby and a dog, so there is planning involved for people to be in and out of the house all day), for them to no-show. Then we find out it's because the unit was still delayed, but nobody called or emailed. Communication fail per usual. The unit finally arrives and we get scheduled for early January. We again organize our week around this and are ready, they spend a couple hours installing and then come tell us they have to stop and we need to get an electrical box installed. What?! How in the world after 6+ months did they not identify this need. So now its on us to find an electrician (during a time where this is a challenging task due to shortages on everything/everyone), and we have another anticipated cost. And again - inspector comes out the next day because they hadn't canceled him. I don't understand how this company has so much trouble coordinating job schedules. We got the electrical box installed and reached out to get scheduled once again, it's now been 11 days since the latest attempt and ...crickets. Still haven't gotten our final product done with and we've been coordinating with this company for 6+ months. They have zero communication skills, poor estimating, terrible schedule coordination, the list goes on. On top of this, they offer financing - we've had to deal with re-applying 3x because the expiration date on the pre-approval expires due to their cancelled installs. Go anywhere else but here, literally. My 90 yr old grandmother could run a more efficient company. read more

We had a terrible customer-service experience with Chimcare today. We made an appointment with them more than a week ago for them to fix our fireplace. They said they would come today. But this morning they called and said they'd signed us up with the wrong person, not the repair person. Now the only time the repairman can come is four weeks from now. Our house is poorly insulated and we rely on our fireplace a lot. Now thanks to Chimcare's incompetence we are forced to wait a month or more, at the coldest time of year, to be able to stay warm. It was bad enough that they screwed up the appointment, worse that they didn't get around to letting us know until today when I had made special arrangements to be available. And clearly their refusal to even try to make up for their stupidity by offering a better time or at least a discount indicates they don't care at all about their customers. We have made an appointment with another company. The wait is still long but I don't feel able to trust Chimcare not to screw up again. No recommendation for this company. read more

In 2021, Chimcare of Tigard was hired to replace a woodstove chimney for a total cost of $1080. 50% of the service was paid immediately. Chimcare delayed the installation until 2022, with excuse after excuse. Finally, in the spring of 2022, the Chimcare informed me that the work was complete and demanded the second half of the payment, which was paid on request. AFTER payment, I was contacted by the technician that installing the already paid for chimney and parts was not possible. He suggested that we buy new stoves from Chimcare-for 'around' $25,000! Bait and switch scam. I contacted the Chimcare office multiple times about a full refund for the chimney that was never installed, always with a promise that they would 'call back.' Finally, In October, I called the office and informed them that I was ready to file a small claims lawsuit and contact the fraud division of the Oregon attorney general. Dave, Kelly, Jose and JJ did an outstanding job rebuilding our entire fireplace, installing a stainless tube in the chimney and installed a new wind cap on our home in Lincoln City. This is the absolutely worst company that I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I contracted with them to do chimney repairs after I had a chimney fire and the initial workers that came didn't seem competent, one tried to convince me to buy a pellet stove instead, and after a very short time they left saying they eould have to come back to build a scaffold and a bunch of other stuff and then never got back to me. After multiple calls, texts, and emails that were never returned I finally got an appointment late October well after the entire project was supposed to have been completed mid September which was then canceled for no given reason and after multiple attempts of unreturned contacts i was given an appointment in November which was again canceled for no given reason. At this point it iswinter, I have no heat in my house, no house insurance since the work wasn't done on time so I called and left a message canceling the contract and demanding my deposit back, which took over two months and a call to them from my legal representative threatening legal action. I AM WARNING EVERYONE AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! The one positive note which is why they get one star is that Jerem, who is the only one in the company that showed up for any part of the job, built a lovely hearth for my wood stove. They are also way overpriced as I found out when I finally got my repairs done by another company. read more

Kelley was my Chimcare tech, and right away he steered me to an inspection instead of a cleaning to see the condition. As I suspected, my chimneys were not in great shape. He had this high tech unit to show me the inside of the chimney via camera and that was so helpful! He explained what we were seeing, the issues and dangers, and we discussed my options. I feel like he was pretty good about helping me find some economical solutions. One issue is he was going to get back to me right away w/ some estimates but I haven't head anything so we will have to see what happens next. read more

Michael Porter installed a wood stove for my mother's house. This guy not only killed it in the professional department. He's probably one of the nicest people I have met. First of all we purchased the wood stove from coastal and were told it would work no problem because of the existing unit, It didn't... Of course we got it a few month's back when it was on sale and haven't had time to have installed until lately, so returning it was an option for us. Most installers would have said sorry we can install this stove, Not Michael, his partner and him spent 3X the amount of time it should have taken them to find a way to make it work safely and without sacrificing the look and that's exactly what they did. I live in a 1940's house and the the original chimney was on the verge of collapse. I did a lot of online research and looked at reviews and Chimcare kept coming to the top of my list. However, I kept putting it off until recently when I was walking my dog and a Chimcare estimator was down the street. I struck up a conversation and was so impressed with him that I scheduled an estimate. I am a designer so the new fireplace design had to match the original to the house. They even found new bricks that were identical to the originals. From the tear down and rebuild to the interior work and final black metal cap installation the different crews were all really great. They were so respectful of my yard and Mike even offered to put my living room furniture back in front of the fireplace. We had an absolutely agonizing experience with ChimCare. Very nice but wow do they not know how to show up. 1st appointment, I take off work a couple hours early and wait for them to show, finally I called them and apparently the truck broke down. Fair enough but why did I have to call to find this out, plus I wasted 3 hours of PTO. So I decide to give them another try, they said they would come by Sunday and make a special visit, guess what, they didn't show and no call. Now here is where I turn into a sucker, since they offered a discount I figured what the heck one more try. They showed, hallelujah!! (Also took another 2 hours of PTO to get home for them)Guy was nice and received a quote to have work done. Two weeks later one of the Mason's shows up to start work(he was an hour late) so he starts power washing chimney and stops about 20 min in. I can only imagine what's next. He tells me, "buddy, you got a lot of problems and the whole chimney needs to be repointed". I said ok, whatever it takes just do it!!! So since he didn't have enough time he pushed this out 3 weeks. The day comes and I take off a couple of hours early from work to be there, as now I'm suspect. As I'm riding home I just knew they didn't show up, yep, again no show. This is seriously a true series of events as hard as it might be to believe. Later I had 3 more quotes, all discrediting ChimCare and the work I was quoted. Thank goodness they didn't show else I would have really been taken for a ride. Stay clear all!!
