This used to be the best Roast Beef PO-boy around. You know like the beef is cooked in the gravy the way it should be. This was not! Appears to be gravy out of a Can and dumped on top... such a shame to degrade such a great tasting PO-boy. I can find this all day long and much cheaper. The beef was grisely and the bun was even great. Sad to say I won't be coming back to Corsey location, will try Covington once more before writing them off. Before I get into this review, I want to shout out Jeff for being an amazing bartender. I'm a regular here and I think all the bartenders are great. I was here last night with friends for not even 30 minutes before another guy, who frequents this location, comes up to a girl sitting next to us and starts cursing her out and calling her names unprovoked because she was having drinks with my friend, who's a police officer. He doesn't know this young lady or my friend btw. Then he starts to verbally attack my officer friend. The General Manager comes out, refuses to listen to what happened, and tells us we all have to leave. I find an issue with that because everyone, including her staff, was trying to tell her that the dude was the aggressor and she refused to listen. Another lady sitting at the bar stated that before we arrived, he got into an altercation with another young lady and called her out her name. My issue is why was he allowed to stay and attack people at the bar? I'm an attorney and my friend is a cop and we've never caused any issues at any establishment. The fact that we were treated like trouble makers instead of respectable patrons is really disturbing. I feel like the GM's behavior was inappropriate and unfair. There has to be better ways to de-escalate situations instead of making innocent people leave. I was recommended by a lot of locals to come here, and I'm glad I did! I can see why this place is open until 2 AM. It has a great atmosphere, plays great music, and has delicious food. It seems to be in a great location, especially for the college kids. Oh, and peep that beer/alcohol menu. Endless options! I was recommended by a friend to start out with the boudin balls. I don't normally choose appetizers like that, but I'm so glad I did! They were tasty with a little bit of a kick. My dad ordered the charbroiled catfish topped with Crabmeat Royale and a side of red beans and rice. Okkk the topping really did it! Anything with garlic and butter has my attention. I gave it a taste and it was delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta minus the crawfish (I know right), and it was also delisshhhh! Didn't have that fishy taste I don't like either. It was creamy and gooood! I also ordered a side of red beans and rice cause give me all the carbs. Um, that side is huge!! So I definitely had a left over of two meals with that, and I'm not sad about it. The red beans and rice were so tasty, too. All of the entrees came with a huge side salad as well. I'm so sorry, but my husband and I were just confused about what all the hype is. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but our meal was not good. The service was great and the vibe was really cool though. I got a spinach salad with blackened shrimp and pepper jelly vinaigrette. The salad was just spinach leaves with half of a boiled egg and shrimp. It was nothing special..but here was my biggest turn off. The shrimp wasn't deveined. And if it was just a little vein, then I would've been more forgiving but the veins were HUGE and really disgusting (I'm not being dramatic, I posted a picture) . I ended up removing them myself. The shrimp actually tasted good, but I just got too grossed out to finish them. My husband got a burger and the burger was extremely over done and burnt so he didn't finish it. The Mac and cheese was pretty good-not amazing but not bad either. We are obviously in the minority here since this place has rave reviews so maybe we came at a bad time, but we probably won't be back again given our underwhelming experience. read more

"The Chimes", as we LSU grads fondly call it, is a Baton Rouge staple. The bar is superb, bartenders extremely attentive, and their food is consistent! Best combination for a well run well loved college town staple. They have tons of TVs to catch all the sports and their outside patios at all locations are amazing! This place is a staple in town. I was told to go for happy hour and It didn't disappoint. The place gets busy quick, but it doesn't affect the service one bit. Our waiter was on point. Half priced oysters on the half shell for happy hour. Presentation is that of a dingy dive bar (I love dive bars!!) nothing fancy happening here, just really good food on a plate. We had the boudin balls (first timer here) they were absolutely amazing.. word to the wise let those suckers cool off before chomping them down. Lagniappe cakes- absolutely amazing. A mix of seafood and crab! We are visiting here for a soc cer tournament. One of the parents suggested that we try this place which turned out to be a great idea. We were a very large group but it didn't take them long to seat us. 2 of us were running behind but they didn't hesitate to sit them close to us. Though we had one waitress, she was great with handling our section. She really provided exceptional service and I'm sad that I can't remember her name. I ordered the stuffed shrimp which came with French fries , hush puppies and a Caesar salad. The salad was very good. One of the best salads that I've had in a while. The stuffed shrimp were superb! They were cooked perfectly and their stuffing recipe is to die for. I've had my share of stuffed shrimp and these are definitely top 3. I couldn't eat them all. Hush puppies were good. Sweet. Cooked perfectly. The Poboy was delicious. The shrimp were big and fried hard. The suave was delicious. My husband couldn't eat the whole thing and he's a big guy. The size is great! The drinks - we had margaritas that were sooooo good. They high as hell tho. $16 and it wasn't a big glass. Now that's what I didn't like lol. Lucky they were good otherwise I would've been pissed about that price They have a shot called the cambuka or something like that which everyone at the table went crazy over! Love the sweet light crispy hush puppies! The Angus steak is just average for $25. I got catfish perdu which was huge with 4 pieces of fish with etoufee on top! Delish but no sides. Food, drinks, and ambiance do not disappoint at this favored local establishment immediately outside of LSU's gates. My favorite appetizers are the blackened alligator and crawfish fries. The fried alligator spinach salad with pepper jelly vinaigrette is incredibly fresh and flavorful. It's the perfect lunch dish. I thoroughly enjoyed day drinking at their rooftop bar, which is an incredible space for relaxing and people watching. It's equipped with ceiling fans and heat lamps, so it's comfortable all year-round. I can only imagine how electric the rooftop would be during game days. This place is always a hit. During LSU' season or anytime. They added a new rooftop deck with us cool, it over looks highland road. I been several times. Went for a a big dinner the other night. Chime is a long time restaurant just outside the gate of LSU. It is located next to the Varsity cinema. They actually own that cinema. Sister company of Parrain's Seafood. A lot of high hope for this restaurant next to the university. This is very much university bar and restaurant. We love to get the experience with the student which brought back the memories I was the student here. The only thing I would said some of the item they not going to serve to to current regulations on the crab crawls. We have order the blacken Louisiana Alligator Tail and the special of the day crab cake for start. The gator tail certainly tasty but I think it need to be bigger pieces. The crab cake is great. Love the two appetizers. The entrée I have the charbroiled catfish and top with the BBQ shrimp. The catfish is good with the way it cook. However the BBQ shrimp is average. They can be better. Some shrimp shell is soft and not hard after cook. Service is average. However the close up is good and fast. I like the bar atmosphere. read more

Chimes cane highly recommended by a LSU alum. They provided a great atmosphere for my group of 8. We arrived around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were promptly seated. Service was swift and our server was knowledgeable and considerate. We were in town for the Louisiana Marathon and half the group went with local cuisine and others went safe and healthy. We came in with a large group (14) on a Thursday night, so let the hostesses know they could break us up any way they needed to of that would help with seating. After about an hour wait, 5 of us sat at the bar and about 10 minutes later the remainder of the group was seated. So glad we sat at the bar because Alexis was outstanding! We arrived in Baton Rouge late on a Friday night, and barely made it to Chimes before the kitchen would close (midnight). Despite our showing up so late, we were promptly seated, and never felt rushed. In fact, our server was rather enthusiastic despite being likely at the very end of his shift. The beer menu is one of the most extensive I've ever seen[1]. Something like 80 beers on tap, and 120 or so bottles. Moreover, many of the beers are 20 oz, and only $4-5! Both the Saint Arnold Endeavor Imperial IPA and Goose Island Sophie (Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale aged in wine barrel) were great. The blackened alligator ($10.95) was phenomenal: perfectly marinated, tender, moist, and really packed with flavor. Best alligator dish I've ever had. The boudin balls ($7.95) were also pretty tasty, while the stuffed shrimp ($6.95).
