-Food Poisoning- There are no words for how I feel about my time at this establishment. I have no idea im what i was expecting from a place literally called Chinese Buffet, but it was at the very least edible food. The front of the restaurant looks really nice has good atmosphere and nice decoration. then you get to the seating area. Trash just on the floor, wrappers all of it. Maybe I just came in at a bad time, iIdid get there at 2 so maybe they had a lunch rush. However, there is no excuse for their food. I grabbed a plate, like normal and then proceeded to dig in. I'm not particularly picky, and I was also raised to always finish my food. The orange chicken was fine and I was going to eat the sushi. I could not continue chewing once it reached my tastebuds. Maybe it was that particular sushi, so i tried the Philadelphia roll as it's generally easy for restaurants to make so how can you mess up? After trying that, I came to the conclusion that the rice was probably a few days too old. The sesame balls were pretty good though. Anyway, then i grabbed another plate. I grabbed the sugar biscuits and some fruit. I sat down and began eating. My mom started to laugh because the face I pulled when i bit into a watermelon was of disgust. All of the fruit was bad. Every last one. The sugar biscuits were hard as a rock, but still ok to eat. Now let's talk about the utensils and lack thereof. Firstly, the utensils for grabbing your portion were filthy. The sushi bar alone has wet sauces all over each of the tongs. They offer no other utensils other than the ones you get when you initially sit down. Because when i eat my dinner I just grab the same fork i ate my chicken with and dig into my cake. The food made me physically sick, and i cannot even begin to express how awful this was. Customer service is trash. The waiters literally only come around when you are getting up for another round of food and to bring your check nothing in between. My issue is when checking out at the front the cashier asked if I wanted to leave a tip on my card and when I told her no she had the nerve to ask why? This place has been hidden in the back corner of this plaza for quite a while. I remember coming here with my best friend in high school. This was the first place I ever tried (and found out I hate) sushi. So many memories. So when the craving for large amounts of Chinese arose I convinced my husband to take me We went over lunch so it was a bit cheaper (around $8 a person-ish) which for piles upon piles of crab rangoons and pepper chicken is pretty dang affordable. The food was all fresh and warm and looked delicious. I couldn't even tell you everything I tried because my plate was different each time. I didn't utilize the hibachi station (maybe it's called something else?) where you make a bowl and they cook it for you, but this restaurant has that too. I kind of lament the closing of so many sit down Chinese restaurants. All of a sudden everything is either Takee Outee place or a Chinese buffet. I happen to love Chinese food. China buffet as a really good Chinese buffet. It is a very reasonable price. The location is in the shopping center right behind Chick-fil-A. Parking is easy. The food is fresh and plentiful. They offer sushi options. They also offer stirfry options. This is a really good place for Chinese buffet and it is really good food. The quality is very good. China Buffet is tucked into the strip mall across from Outback. Right next door to Beall's Outlet and Once Upon a Child. The store front is unassuming and at first you are wondering if the inside will be the same. When you walk in the first thing you notice is that it is not as big as some and the selection is not as large. But it is clean and you aren't afraid to eat off the silverware. The bathrooms are older, but again, your not afraid to use them. The buffet carried all the usuals and the food is fresh and replenished constantly. The sushi bar wasn't that big, but I got an assortment of rolls (9 maybe?) that were all good and included Eel, Salmon, Tuna and the always there crab meat. For $8.95 for dinner on a Saturday night, I thought it was a great deal! I also got a 20% off coupon in the Mint Magazine. $17.50 for me and my two kids is the kind of place we will go back too! read more

This place has gone down hill so much. They raised the prices, but reduced the variety and quanity of food. The food is cold most of the time too. It is also dirtier there. When my friend and I first moved to Jacksonville this was one of the first restaurants we came to. We thought this restaurant was complete heaven from the delectable crawfish and the succulent crab legs we were gonna make this our normal buffet. The only problem was we completely forgot what the restaurant was called or where it was located. Two years later we finally found it and couldn't wait to plan our next trip. We believed to have found the second best thing since sliced bread, of course I'm a bread lover so it'll always be first lol. We get our schedules together and the trip is finally set and I'm uber excited to chow down. The place is just as I'd remembered it but the only thing was the food wasn't as good. I know a lot can happen in two years but I must say I was a little disappointed. The food wasn't as fresh as I'd remembered or as tasty. We must have gotten there a bit too early as we didn't see any crab legs. The crawfish was still a little tasty but sweeter than I remember but good none the less. There was a new item I seen which was the pizza but the sauce they'd used was a little too sweet for my taste. The fish nuggets were a little over cooked and the chicken was too. We've eaten there in the past, and it wasn't that bad, but frankly this time around, I would not recommend it. Some items were just barely warm. I don't know what kind of oil the filled wontons, egg rolls and spring rolls were cooked in, but it managed to create an "off" taste to them. Same with the small, stuffed mushrooms.The spring rolls were honestly filled with some form of mystery meat. The broccoli mix was not all the way cooked. Never have liked crunchy broccoli... The only items that were somewhat edible was the sweet/sour chicken and the potatoes. If one likes the chances you take with buffets, go for it. But frankly I think we'll stick with the local, family run, Chinese restaurant. Way better, less iffy, and cheaper. read more

My boyfriend and I tried it last night, as I was craving Asian food, and he wanted a variety of things to try. When we first walked in and saw the size of it, I was expecting a nice mixture, but I was super disappointed in the choices for traditional Chinese food. The only vegetable choices were sauteed mushrooms and sauteed green beans. While both were pretty good, I'd have liked at least one mixed vegetable choice. The fried rice was extremely bland and I had to add a lot of soy sauce to make it edible. There were no meatless sushi options, and the majority of what was there was seafood, which I don't eat. My boyfriend who does eat meat and seafood said a lot of the things he tried didn't taste very fresh. A lot of what they had just seemed like bland frozen bulk food. The price was probably very reasonable if you are a big seafood eater, but, as a non-meat-eater, I didn't feel like I got my money's worth. read more

Been here several times in the past 6 months and I'm most impressed with the consistency of their offerings. The standard buffet fare with a good amount of seafood dishes to boot. Many with shrimp and fish. They have a Mongolian BBQ type area where you can make something from scratch. It's a great option. Always well made. Service here is adequate and they keep your drink full. A take out cup will cost you though. I like this place better than the nearby buffet. They wouldn't accept the 10% off from Yelp check in. read more

The food is ok for a buffet but I saw something today that really concerned me. Three employees were hand wrapping silverware at a table. None were wearing gloves. One of the employees left the wrapping table. He went over and cleared a table after the customers left. He removed dirty dishes, glasses and napkins. He went to the front register and removed dirty dishes. He went back to wrapping silverware and he NEVER washed his hands, used sanitizer or put on gloves. read more

This was one of my worst experiences. I explained when I got there that I had a MSG allergy to the two ladies at the front and asked them what they had without it and they said sushi. I was with 4 other people and so I just had one plate of salad. One plate. I told the lady again at the end that I didn't eat anything besides the salad and she said "I don't care, it's a buffet and one charge for everything". I asked if I could be charged like a child and she said no. So rude. Charged me $13+ for lettuce and tomato. I went to this restaurant with a large group it was my friend's family who were visiting out of town this restaurant is not only racist they are unsafe the Mongolian bar had pork that was not the right temperature friend tried to eat some started feeling sick the restaurant did not want to remedy this did not even offer to compensate and still argued that everything was okay despite the pork smelling and making everyone sick. Could not get the waiter to come and serve us did not speak English which we try to accommodate and he was not trying to accommodate at all then when I was reporting this to the manager she again told me that he's not rude I'm just not understanding him after this was done we want to go pay for it because we were just done with the terrible service at this point over $200 worth and then there was a dispute about the check and the manager who was there who was already rude to me started to get loud with my friend's grandfather started to raise her voice point her fingers in his face and when his granddaughters told her to stop she told them they were being rude I would not advise you to come here the party I came with was not majority African-American it also had queer community and I do believe that this played a huge part in the service there. read more

This is my first time giving a really low review on any of the places I've been to. Not only it was really messy and dirty, our server was really rude. She kept looking at us as if she wanted us to leave already after eating our first plate. Some of the food were dry and cold, the fruits were not fresh and others are just too greasy. In addition, I checked in into my Yelp and I told them that I have 10% off however our server rudely told us it won't work at there restaurant. I was puzzled and frankly dismayed by this. This is a decent Chinese buffet.... The food is always hot, fresh and taste great... The buffet is constantly replenished no matter how busy it is in the restaurant.... The staff is ok... So first off I must say that this was a visit in a rushed moment in our lives. I just got off work and my fiancé had rehearsals to attend within the hour so this was a rushed choice based on quick and easy, plus Mint magazine had a coupon for it. The people who work there were lovely so I really think their service was good. They were quick to seat us (didn't see the place packed anyway) and get our drinks. We headed over to the buffet where there was some decent choices. The food was lacking in flavor and pretty bland. [I recognize I've accentuated the flavorless food twice in that last sentence, but it was worth repeating.] I have to say, the sushi looked old and somewhat dry so I couldn't even brave myself to eat it. Who knows how long that's been there. The rice was decent, the chicken with broccoli was less than perfect. They did happen to bring out fresh food. I noticed there was at least two men who kept checking the food supply. On my second trip to the buffet there was fresh rice and lo mein. This was a very lackluster visit to the buffet but again with the way we were rushing to get to rehearsal there really wasn't enough time to enjoy the food and taste everything... so maybe I will try it again, but at this point I'm not interested in visiting again. read more

This place is kinda hard to locate. The food is pretty good. Come Around 2 so U'll be stuffed the rest of the day. Oyah u have to pay a lil bit more if u eat some of the sea food. They have a sign so u will know which one u shouldn't eat if u don't wanna pay extra. What's great about this place is that they have sesame balls that I think all chinese restaurants should have. Never had dinner there, but lunch wasnt bad....good, fresh buffet....staff very friendly, and accomodating....bathrooms clean....mongolian was bland......mostly the food was too....I guess they cant make things too spicy or too flavorful....otherwise someone would complain about being allergic to seafood, spices, or MSG...... My biggest complaint was some screaming brat was running around inside the dining room and the parents did nothing to curtail this little monster's rant....(please leave your screaming, colicky little brats at home)_,,,,,,,,,I hate eating in a noisy environment....particularly screaming, unsupervised toddlers....geez....poor staff did nothing, so as not to offend the humanoids that spawned this offspring... read more

Not bad for a buffet. I did not feel like cooking, and wasn't in the mood for anything that required thought, so I stopped in to this place that I had my eye on since seeing it on my way to the office.
