I ordered War Wanton soup for take out. There was so much packed into the container that I could hardly get my spoon in. Tender slices of pork, shrimps, veggies, plus the pork wontons! So good. The broth was a little bland so I added a packet of soy sauce. If I was on a reduced salt diet like a few of my friends, I'd appreciate that chicken broth. I'll be back! read more

For me it all started with the won tons. Anywhere else in town that I have been to won tons are just fried egg roll wrappers. Here they actually have meat in them. That took me back to Chinatown in San Francisco. I have eaten at this place multiple times and have never been disappointed. The menu is extensive and the prices are very reasonable. It is like visiting your Chinese grandmothers house for a delicious meal. The service is top notch with very courteous wait staff. They also do take out as well. If you enjoy Chinese food you will not be disappointed. Nice clean atmosphere without being too overdone. Even the fortune cookies are fresh. read more

For a hole in the wall place, it's as good as local Chinese can get! Portions are generous and affordable. Vegetables are tender-crisp, never mushy, and the meat is lean and tasty. Their egg drop soup is my favorite in town. We typically do take out and they always offer extra sauce and chop sticks. This is our HANDS DOWN go-to place for Chinese take-out. My girls love the fried rice (even asking for and GETTING it without onions EVERY TIME) and I love the light option of the shrimp and veggies or tofu and veggies with oyster sauce on the side OR (better but more calories) the Mongolian beef. Great veggies with that one. This is a family run joint and the adorable kids who take and deliver your order perfectly are still pretty young and were probably 8 or 9 when I started coming here. Very affordable and very accurate and very nice. I am happy with the quality especially because I have been known to not make it to the parking lot at some Chinese restaurants due to the msg. I can't say they do not use it at all because I did not ask recently, but after at least 4 years of getting delicious take out here I am a huge fan and trust them completely. I live across the street from this restaurant and had been frequenting the place for the past few years. The staff is wonderful, always making sure we have everything we need. Take out is awesome too, very good and convenient on my very busy days. This time of year, they give out calendars for free too that I look forward to. Unfortunately, the worst Chinese food I've had in the last 40 years. This place used to be good. My suspicion that it is under new ownership was confirmed after I investigated a bit. I can honestly say there was nothing served to me that was tasty. Fried wonton and egg roll appetizers were cold and stale; stuffed with canned vegetables. The fried rice, for which I was charged a premium upgrade, was dismal. I could have done better at home! I'm normally someone who posts positive reviews. The experience here, however, was so disappointing I felt I had to write something so that others would be spared the same fate. In contrast to the other reviewer's experience, we arrived at dinner time on a saturday night, there were another 2 couples and a large party already there, and a waiter (I'm assuming a son, as he was rather young) came by quite quickly to take our order. Our food arrived probably within about 10 minutes piping hot with excellent presentation. The restaurant itself is on the small side, but clean and in good condition. I do agree with the other reviewer, the food was very good for ABQ (ABQ really seems to suffer from a lack of decent chinese restaurants), and definitely needs to be more spicy. The servings were large and the price very affordable. We will definitely be returning. There are a lot of tofu and vegetarian choices which is another advantage for us. read more

Visiting from out of town, my cousin brought me here for a late lunch. Had the vegetarian red curry with tofu, which was delicious! The tofu was cut into larger than average triangles and cooked perfectly. So creamy and moist in the center, and a lovely crunch on the outside. Thought I would have leftovers, but could not resist eating the entire dish. Started with fried rolls, which were also cooked perfectly, and tasted very fresh. Great service, too. read more

Found this little restaurant on Yelp. We were very surprised at how friendly the wait staff is, how cheap the food is, and how delicious it is. The lunch portions were just right. I had the Chicken Egg Foo Yung, it was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy on the outside, with yummy gravy on the side. I had a large portion of Egg Drop soup with homemade wonton strips. Also included pork fried rice, very tasty. My husband had Pepper Steak with extra onions, he liked it, but liked my Egg Foo Yung better. Definitely going back! read more

When we want to go on a Chinese food dinner date, my boyfriend and I always choose China Garden. It's a very simple and quaint little place to enjoy a meal at. The waitresses are always so attentive and treat us very kind. We both get the hot and sour soup, which is just the right amount of hot and sour before our entrees come out. Wonderful local, family run restaurant. A broad, well-executed menu and friendly, efficient service. All at a modest price. The Sesame chicken was amazing. The fried rice was great. Service was exceptional. Tea was perfect temperature. Cute kids bussing tables. The food was cheap. It was a awesome experience. The only thing I would have to say, is that, for extra fortune cookies, you have to pay an extra $.60 for five. Close to grocery store so you don't have to go in hungry. Also in the same strip mall as a nails place, and a dog groomer. So you can put your dog at the groomer, eat, and get your nails done all in the same place. read more

Took almost 1 1/2 hours to get our food which was cold. When my daughter tried to get the wait staff to see what the delay was, she was offered no help by a very discourteous staff. When I called to complain I was told by the person answering the phone that she couldn't do anything, I asked to speak to the manager. Was told they were too busy. Unfortunately we did not share the experiences of others.It was the most blandest food we have ever had, gone down hill from where they used to be. They also offer a free chicken entree with a $30.00 or more purchase for take out, and the owner refused to give it to me and said she gave me "donuts" instead which I did not ask for. A Mom & Pop place, with the kids doing the serving. We got the Family Dinner for 2. Soup (Wonton or Egg Drop), Egg roll, Sweet & Sour chicken w/rice and Pork Lo Mein. They changed out the wonton for hot and sour at no charge. Soup was okay, but not the best in Albuquerque. Large, tasty egg rolls, served piping hot. Choices of sauce are in packets on the table. Entree servings were huge-each was enough for two people. Chicken was freshly-cooked and good. Sweet and Sour sauce was served on the side. Probably out of a jar. We only tasted the Lo Mein, since we brought it home for another meal. But it was very tasty. Only complaints: They brought the entrees while we were still eating the soup and egg rolls. Also, I ordered tea. It came out warm and cooled considerably during the meal. The young son & daughter tried very hard. They were busy with lots of carry-out orders. With a very heavy heart, I report that China Garden is under new ownership. We ordered carry-out from there just last night. I knew something was up when I didn't see the kids. I should have asked right away, but when I got home and tried the food, I had my answer. Just not the same. While I wish the new owners good luck, right now it is a little disappointing. I had been going to China Garden since the opened. I had met with the owners several times and loved watching their children grow up. If anyone knows where they went or if they opened a new restaurant, I would love to know. By you guys! So sad to see you go. read more
