Last time I will be ordering here CG has really gone downhill! I thought I would give it another try but nope this place has gotten worse! Ordered the Almond Chicken Combo and when I got it home there were TWO count them TWO slivered almonds in there! ONE piece of baby corn and a few thrown in pieces of Zucchini! It was mostly all huge chunks of chicken and cabbage! Gone are the days where it was loaded with all of those wonderful veggies and almonds.... oh and they were all out of Crispy Noodles! The order was promised in 1 hour and it arrived almost 45 minutes late. My wontons were soggy and my food was not hot when I received it. I called to ask where my food was shortly after an hour had passed and was told, "it's on it's way". The food was ok but not fantastic (probably because it was cold). I have been going here for 11 years. Very consistent. Good solid food. Small seating area, not fancy. I have eaten in twice in 11 years. This is my take out place of choice. Closed on Monday's which kills me sometimes. They also close over new years for a vacation which also kills me. We call this place POUND OF CHICKEN because the take out containers are packed to the top with food and it weighs like 5 pounds! While we were waiting for our to-go order, another customer was going on and on about the garlic chicken being "too spicy." Well...Taco Bell mild sauce is more spicy. So...no. Just ordered from here for the first time today. I can honestly say It will be my last. I ordered a family dinner for five and every single thing I ordered was disgusting. The only edible plate I ordered was the fried rice. The chow mein was light in color and had absolutely no flavor!!! The teriyaki chicken skewers were tough and also flavorless. I moved to modesto from Tracy about a year ago and wanted to find a place like the little hole in the wall, like the one in tracy, This place was a wonderful change. The food is good and the service is top on the line. We ordered the dinner combo for 2,which consisted of egg flower soup, sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, pork chow mein, and teriyaki chicken skewers. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, the portions were enormous, and the service was excellent! I also want to mention that the prices are extremely reasonable. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. Ribs were disgusting. They were gamey and tough as leather. The pork fried rice had a bizarre after taste...as though they had cooked multiple foods in old oil. The only thing edible was the sweet and sour chicken and that was below average as well...no veggies or pineapple included. I can only imagine anyone giving this place a good review is either taste blind or the owners or employees. Honestly if i could give this place no stars i would. My family and i were completely disappointed with this place. It's not clean. One of the women working there was eating when we got there, she sees us walk in and starts picking her teeth with her finger and then proceeds to take our order! The utensils looked as if someone had used them and then wiped them clean. And if that wasn't enough to discourage us from eating there again, the food does. It was horrible. Weird after taste. This used to be my favorite take out Chinese food place. I guess the mistake was ordering it for delivery. The prawns and chicken in tin foil was cold when it arrived. The food was bland. Not at all what I was used to from them. I ordered through Eat24 and I do not think they read the special instructions as my requests were ignored. I requested Chopsticks, hot mustard and crispy noodles as these were not options on the app used for ordering. OMG! There is nothing better than the pork won ton soup. If you love good old fashion Chinese won ton dumplings surrounding the most tender pork, with vegetables, and bean sprouts. Holy crap that was a lot of food, was a phrase my wife and myself used a few times when plate after plate passed us up. We ordered spring rolls and there were 6 to an order. They came out piping hot and good. So far pretty good. When our food came out, we were disappointed. The first sign of bad Chinese food was that color of the fried rice and chow mein. The darker they are them more soy sauce used. Both items were lacking in flavor, except salt and soy sauce. The garlic chicken was not what I expected. It was deep fried chicken bits with a garlic sauce. I tried some of the wifes Broc w/ Beef and it was pretty good. We packed what was left, but ended up throwing it away. For the rest of the day I was chasing down the salt with water. Service was excellent, the portions were huge, but not of this can make up for mediocre food. read more
