We ordered delivery . Our order consisted of 1 extra spicy orange chicken with fried rice , a small egg drop soup, and a slice of cheesecake . We originally wanted to sub the rice for low mein but they said it would be a $3 up-charge which is a little steep for me. Our orange chicken was good but I expected a little more . The egg drop soup lacked taste. It tasted too watery, honestly . The biggest disappointment? The cheesecake . I paid about $3.50 for what I thought was a slice . The service was absolutely horrific. We made the mistake of eating at the establishment and the older lady that works there was so rude to customers. I will not return because of this. She has to be one of the owners as I can't see how an employee would get away with yelling at a customer telling them that their order is not ready and she will call them when it is so quit asking. And the only reason the guy asked twice was because he was having a difficult time understanding her broken English he was not rude in any way. When another customer asked her name she yelled my name is nothing. Lol The restaurant is not clean so that made the experience unenjoyable as well. It is obvious they do not want customers dining in as it so uninviting and not many tables. She was aggressive to Door Dash drivers as well and it's a busy takeout place. It was a rainy evening here in Mansfield, TX and I was just getting back from a long business trip so we decided to order delivery instead of cooking or going out. These are the highlights: 1) They have a very easy and helpful website where you can order online and make special requests if you want to. The menu and options are very easy to find and read. 2) After placing your order you receive a confirmation email stating the estimated time that your food will arrive on. They said 8:31 pm and I actually received it at 8:32...Pretty accurate. 3) The food was delivered by a very well presented and attentive kid (not like some shady pizza delivery guys). 4) We had the steamed dumplings, Happy family and brown rice (yes, brown rice. Not easy to get in this area). The food was not greasy (like from most Chinese places). All well packed, no leaks, plastic silverware and of course: A couple of lucky cookies. 5) ALL THE FOOD WAS VERY VERY GOOD! We've been here twice now since they have opened. I feel they have a pretty good menu. We've tried three dishes there now. All of the portions are pretty large. Ordering the lunch menu comes with an egg roll. You can get white rice, fried rice, or brown rice with the dishes. We've had the Cashew Chicken, it was pretty decent, full of cashews, and plenty of chicken. My wife had the Mongolian Beef, she honestly didn't love it. I think she was looking for a sear on the beef like you see at some places. I've also had the Curry Chicken. We liked this, but it did come with a lot of red and green peppers (and in pretty large chunks). Dial back the peppers a little bit and this could be a winner. They have soft drinks in a fountain. The drink sizes are a little small but that's pretty typical with Chinese restaurants in my experience. Definitely worth a try. read more

My taste buds wanted Chinese. So I yelped a couple places in my area with good reviews. This place was not a match for my the taste I was seeking. The sauce for the general t'so chicken and shrimp and broccoli with brown sauce had a flowery and pasty taste to it. However I enjoyed the crispy no sauce wings I ordered. My sister and I ordered two large wonton soups with two egg rolls to go tonight. When she got home after picking up our order, I opened my soup and poured it into a dinner bowl to be able to eat it better rather than eating it out of the to-go container and found a DEAD FLY in my bowl. Not squirming or moving at all, which probably tells me it was probably marinating in there for more than enough time. So i called the store and explained the situation to whatever man answered the phone and he did not apologize but just offered a credit for ONE large wonton soup when we both had the same soup which means it could've easily been scooped into her bowl. This was my 1st time in about 2 months to order food from here. Boy have they changed. I ordered General Tso's chicken. It was drowning in a gritty sauce with no spice to it at all. This is as good as it'll get for Chinese take out in my opinion. I've only ordered from the lunch menu to pick up so this review is based on that. As for the food itself, I haven't tried too many things from the menu but the handful of things I've tried (hunan, Szechuan, kung pao, hot and sour soup) have all been good. Their sauces can be a little bland (I like my food a little bit saltier) but nothing a little soy sauce wont fix. What I love about this place and why I'm giving them 5 stars is due to quality of ingredients, preparation and service. The ingredients they use in the food is fresh and good quality. I can't speak for the seafood dishes as I've only had the beef and chicken. The beef at a lot of Chinese take out places can be very "mysterious" and all gristle but here at China Island they use quality beef and I am not afraid to order my dish with beef. The vegetables are always super fresh as well and aren't cooked to death like most places. I appreciate this very much as I like my vegetables to be al dente, not mushy. The lunch comes in a nice take out box where the sauce isn't all over the box and bag by the time it gets to you. I've never had them mess up my order, forget any utensils or sauces as well. Big plus when ordering take out. As for the service, they've always been quick and I've never had to wait on my order.
