So, the food is really very good. I've only had one bad thing there and when I brought it to the attention of the staff, they remade it and it was great. In fact, they were down right attentive for the rest of the meal and very apologetic. They basically made the chow mein way too salty, and I mean way! Nothing too devastating but it had to be fixed. The only problem with the place is the service. I wouldn't even say it is spotty, because up until the time I had salty chow mein, I can say without hesitation that we never had good service. The service is not really bad which is why they still get four stars, but it is not good either and has never even gotten close to excellent. My husband (who is Chinese) and I brought his PoPo (Grandmother) to this place. We were seated right away and then forgot about for about 5-10 minutes. You can tell they were busy and there were only two women working. It gave us sometime to decide what we wanted because they have a huge menu. Anyway, we finally ordered and it took (what seems to be forever when you are hungry) a while before we received our appetizer. I have to say that it was worth the wait and it was delicious. Our food came out shortly after we were finishing up our apps. That was an improvement. All of the food that we ordered was very good. Even PoPo said it was Ho Sik (good food - delicious) She was smiling the whole way through and my husband said... well, I guess we found our Chinese restaurant in Morgan Hill. Probably the worst service I've ever had. I was recommended to come here by a few people.... I was beyond disappointed to the point where I almost walked out. Our waitress was absolutely rude while taking or order.... Then it took a literal hour to get our food. After complaining to the owner and our waitress we were told we would be charged for the soup we ate (as part of a meal) and told we would get a discount.... And we're told the party of ten that came in before us was priority in getting food over us because they were a big party. I didn't touch my food. Nor will I ever return. I get a 40 minute "wait" time when I called from home. Came one hour later and there were 5 people waiting for more than an hour. I felt guilty getting my food. This place has really gone down hill. The first site when you walk in the door is where they dump all the dirty dishes and cloth napkins, not an appatizing site! My boyfriend has been going to China Palace since he was a little kid and always spoke highly of them. He and I ordered takeout and were very disappointed with the service. They told us it would take an hour for the food to be ready, but that wasn't the issue. This was the issue: we arrived at the resturant an hour after we called and no one was at the front counter for 15 minutes. They didn't even awknologed that we were there until 30 minutes after we arrived. They helped someone that came before us and got their order wrong. There was about 5 people waiting for their takeout orders since we arrived at the resturant. The manager was taking personal calls before we were helped. 45 minutes later, I went up to the front counter to ask about our food. The manager snapped at us and told us that it was not made yet. I told her that we have been waiting for almost 2 hours for our food and she told me that you never get pizza the correct time that they said. She acted like I was not intelligent and there was power battle because the counter is raised taller than me and I'm only 5'2" so she was talking down to me. I told her that I'm never coming to China Palace again and she didn't care. My boyfriend and I left and we never got a phone call saying that our food was ready. read more

Was extremely disappointed in the food. Waited 2 hrs for the order to be ready plus an extra hr in line to pick up my food. I thought they had so much business because it was going to be good but nope. The food was dried out absolutely no texture. My chow mein was as if I was eating foam shoe laces not even soy sauce helped the dryness. The orange chicken was not orange chicken. They gave me deep fried chicken pieces with no sauce. The honey walnut shrimp was ok i guess compared to the rest of my order but it was not mixed properly. I had to dig deep to find the walnuts at the bottom of the container. We also ordered sizzling rice soup. But not even a snap crackle or pop smh what a huge disappointment! When china palace was in Gilroy it was soooo good but i guess they moved for a reason because the food is no longer the great quality it once was. 8/19/16 What a bad experience. Server was so rough & un-polite that made dinner experience a terrible one. She had no manners in serving plates onto table (always through people instead of around) and spilling drinks on table. Had no idea of what domestic beers were available (although menu calls for) and when asked for draft beer a bottled beer was brought in. I saw the reviews and thought we would give it a try. Called to order delivery and as the lady rushed me through giving her my address I proceeded to order. My order was $29 and was told they won't deliver unless the total is over $35 - really. The Lady wouldn't help me as I asked questions about her menu to try and hit the high $35 min. She told me "you need to hurry" keep in mind that was only after about 10 seconds of trying to figure out what I can add. Not only does the service suck here, but the food was bad to the point where I threw it out (I had gotten it to go this time). I will never go here to sit down and eat as it takes 2-3 hours to get our food, eat, and finally get a bill. The owner isn't very nice, and if you complain they are even worse. A friend of ours slipped an fell here while they were mopping the floors, and guess what?! NO ONE HELPED! They didn't even offer to help her, and there was no sign saying the floor was wet! Also, they thought we were trying to "Dine and Dash" because the girl there refused to re-run the DEBIT CARD we used. We have been going to China Palace for well over 16 years. We followed them to Morgan Hill from their previous Gilroy location and the food had always been great (and still is) but unfortunately we will no longer dine here. Their service over the years at their MH location has declined and on several different occasions have had to wait over an hour for our food and another half hour for the remaining dishes for us to only ask for them to be boxed up as soon as they finally got to the table. The first time it happened we gave them the benefit because it was busy but it has occured now every single time we dine there. They never apologize and the service is horrible. I have been to China Palace four times now, each time hoping that the experience would get better. I like most of the dishes, but the service is so poor, I can't bring myself to go back. The times I have dined in, my party and I have waited 30-45 minutes to receive our food and our drinks are rarely replenished. The one tall waiter is good, but the only time we had him, an older Chinese lady berated him constantly, making the whole experience very awkward. I finally decided that ordering takeout was the way to go, but I should have checked Yelp before I attempted it. Our experience was the same as several others have described. After waiting the 40 minutes they said it would take for our order to be ready, we waited an additional 40 minutes in line at the restaurant. When we got home, there was no sauce for the chicken, so we were forced to go back to get it. When we got there, the waitress was on the phone apologizing to another customer whose order had been botched. When she gave me the sauce she gave me no apology, just an, "oh yeah, a lot of people have been calling in...." Unacceptable. read more

The service at this place is not only bad, it's painful. We ordered enough to go food for 3 people after being put on hold for 10 minutes, and were told it would be an hour and a half wait. We reluctantly agreed and showed up after an hour and a half. Long story short: everyone in the lobby had been waiting for their to go food for over an hour, and they had showed up after their projected 1-1.5 hr wait time. When we walked in the owner told us to wait. 10 minutes later she asked us for our phone number and told us to wait again. We asked for a status update after waiting for 15 minutes and she said she would go check but we have to wait. We asked the woman at the front counter again (which I found out later is the owner) when our food would be ready as nearly 20 minutes has passed without an answer. She was insanely rude to me and snapped at me. 45 minutes later when we asked a waitress for an update, she went back to ask the owner, came back to us and said she didn't have an answer for us because when she asked she was yelled at. We waited at the restaurant for well over an hour on top of the hour and a half wait at home before finally giving up and leaving empty handed. It was very obvious they waited until customers showed up for their to go order an hour later to finally start cooking their meal, and this place is highly unorganized. read more
