I've been here for dim sum and a couple of private parties. Despite a huge parking lot, it's still difficult to find a spot but it speaks to the popularity of the plaza. The food at China Pearl was above average, it tasted better than the Chinatown location. I've only gone here for Dim Sum and perfect place if you live south of Boston without driving into the city. Suggest going in there after 11am on a Saturday or Sunday. We came here for dim sum during Lunar New Year and yes it was busy but this place is so big we only had to wait 5 minutes for two people. They have pushing carts but there weren't that many to go around like Hei Lam Moon. They do have an area in the back of the restaurant where you can choose many pan fried specialty items not in the push carts. You tell them what you want and they give you a plate and you bring it back to your table. The dim sum is average like most other dim sum restaurants in the area. It was still good but mediocre at best. It was a bit difficult to grab the waiter's attention but that's typical in busy Chinese restaurants. Free parking was available in the plaza. The dim sum here is awful, Id rather not eat it at all. With the options in Quincy, I'd definitely avoid this place. Windsor Dim Sum and grand Chinatown are way better options. If they didn't have the free parking they'd definitely go out of business. Parking got them an extra star. China Pearl is one of the most popular dim sum restaurants in the area. The restaurant is located in an Asian strip mall and the atmosphere is very no frills despite the fancy chandeliers. There were little details missing like no tablecloths or lazy susans and no condiments on the tables like soy sauce, vinegar, or chili sauce. The food was neither impressive nor disappointing. Staples like the shrimp dumpling (har gow) and shrimp/pork dumpling (siu mai) were good and the pineapple bun with custard (bolo bao) were surprisingly tasty. The fried taro puff was cold when we received it and the fried glutinous rice dumpling with the pork inside (hom sui gok) was skimpy on the meat and the shell was too thick. Compared to the Bay Area, I found the menu options very limited and the food quality average, but according to my family on the East Coast, the options are pretty good here. Service was inattentive - teapots took awhile to be refilled and after the carts went by, it was hard to flag a server down to order anything else. I have been dinning in this restaurant once a month for the past at lease 10 year , reasonable price and large portion but since Covid the large and Xtra large size dim sum use to be $4.25-$4.95 now is at $6.95 and $7.95 double in price. My party is 7 adult and 12 years old and 4 years old so when the bill come it show $8 charge for dims house fee so I ask and they said it is for hot tea which only 4 of us drink that, the other order soda. The server will leave the check on table so I usually go to the counter to pay She process my credit card and hand me the receipt to pay and I was going to check on 15% tip recommendation but then I notice the price so I ask her that I though was $179 how is it go up to $214 and still ask for the tip on that receipt .... she just look at me so I ask is that already include tip ? and she just nodded , I ask how much tip? she pointed on the receipt and said 20% automatic for party of 6 or more. ( I calculated , they charge 20% from total bill which suppose to be just from the total before tax ) so I paid $35 for the service that I have to ask for everything!!!!!!! plus $8 for bonus charge ?? If I did not notice the price I, would have add another 15% tip on top of that and I'm sure they got that quite often with the large party!! This is the best dim sum around. They have a lot to choose from. My favorite is the shu mei.I also really like the tapioca.so refreshing. Be careful because the price can really add up! Medium sized items are $4.25 while large size items are $4.95 each. When they come around it's so tempting to get more everything looks so good and for the most part it is. I've been here a couple times. I just got 2 medium plates and one large plate for my husband and I and it was filling. Just a note, Be sure to check your receipt before you pay. What can I say about this place? It's your middle of the road, too lazy to go to Chinatown, go-to place in Quincy for dim sum. Parking is a plenty, selection/variety is the most and they can get you in and out of here in less than an hour if you're crunched for time. They offer the food rolled in steam carts, laid out at the buffet table or you can order it from your waiter so you basically decide how you want your food to come to you. So here is my honest review of this place. Before you order any seafood, please ask for the price. I realized the seafood is generally more expensive here than other places. $75 for twin lobster, can you believe it? Aside from the price point, which is high, the taste is good. Went for the dim sum around 1:30 on a Saturday, first time there. Was seated immediately, asked if we wanted tea. I'm assuming that's the $2.00 charge on the bill for both of us. Nothing was explained how things worked. The next thing we know, the lady with the cart was at our table with steamer baskets and she was opening them to show us. I'm glad I had read some of the reviews on this site because otherwise I would've no idea what some of the items were. I had to get up and ask for ice water. We were not asked if we wanted any. Also by getting up and walking around, I saw the woman in the back of the restaurant with the cart that you could go up and get dishes before they came around to the table. She also had some that were not coming around to the tables. I noticed there was a menu with pictures which would have been nice to have gotten at the beginning of a meal since we were the first to time is. If you have been there before that, you know what to do if you are a new patron it can be quite confusing. Overall, the food was OK. Dim sum galore - small plates but always more than enough to share. Def something Providence is missing. There are a few dim sum places in Prov but not the kind with rolling carts of deliciousness. Get here early on the weekends to avoid the wait. We got here at 10am on Saturday morning and got seated immediately - the place was only about a third occupied. Due to lower occupancy, you risk less to choose from and they circulate the same choices until most are gone. I'll prob try for 11am next time. From the plethora of dishes we got, we enjoyed them all - my favorites are the chicken feet, ginger tripe and pork ribs. I didn't get a chance to have any salty squid or fried sticky rice as they weren't on the carts, but there's always a next time. There's something for everyone between proteins, dumplings, veggies and seafood and I believe they have a friendlier Chinese American menu you can order from as well. There is a bit of a language barrier but really all you need is a finger to point and an appetite. Be sure to stop next door at Kam Man to get vietnamese sandwiches, pastries and some bubble tea. read more

For dim sum, this place has always been consistant for the quality of food. Quincy offers more competition as the asian population grows in the area. We've tried the Windsor and the China, but I would recommend this place. They still deliver dishes with the roving carts, which I love. I can visually inspect the dishes before opting in. For $44.50, I stuffed my face with so many dumplings and buns...it was insane. I didn't know know half of what was put in front of me, but I enjoyed all of it. Savory buns, sweet buns, buns with craquelin (impressive), shrimp dumplings, sesame balls, veggie dumplings, stuffed mushrooms...everything tasted delicious. Unfortunately, the decor leaves something to be desired and it was hard to flag someone down to get a drink (like water) aside from hot tea. The walls actually have visible stains on them (like dirty drips...) and with a little elbow grease, this place could be in much better shape. They only allow you to split a bill between two cards and there is a $10 minimum on cards as well. So if you come with a group, be sure you are ready to Venmo or carry cash so one or two people can cover the cost of the meal on their cards. I'd come back to experience more dim sum in the future. I couldn't decide if I should give this place a 3 or a 4 but I decided on a 4 for several reasons. It's been ages since I've been here but my HS girlfriend suggested it so what the hell. There is ample free parking so that's always a plus in my book since street parking is such a drag. It was already humid and at least 80 degrees out at 10 AM but the air conditioning was cranking. Sweet! We were pleasantly surprised that this place had been remodeled and is brighter and bit less dumpy. I explained to the hostess that it's been at least several years since I had been there and she confirmed the remodeling is rather new. The ladies in the cart were very friendly and pleasant. A couple of the ladies even asked me to help them with their English so that they can better explain certain dishes to patrons. The food, while they were the typical dim sum dishes, were hot and fresh. We were able to eat everything we craved and left with very full bellies.
