First time trying this place out. We usually go to Kennys Kitchen (so delicious), but they were closed and this place was pretty good! Got the sweet n sour chicken, fried shrimp, lo mein and fried rice. My husband wants me to note that the fried shrimp were amazing. We also got fried pot stickers for free so that was cool. We visited Anchorage after our cruise. We went to this restaurant for dinner in our first day in the town. The quality of food was excellence and the amount of the food per dish was much more than that in most of Chinese restaurants. We liked our dinner so much and we went to there again after we came back from Seward. But, it was on Sunday and the restaurant was closed, and there was a wedding going on. We asked where to go and were told that most of restaurants were closed on Sunday. The owner of the restaurant (who happened to be the bride) recognized us and said that it was late and she got plenty food. We had our dinner there and she did not accept our payment. Good delivery, timing wasn't bad. This was the first time I've ever ordered from them but it was definitely 5/5. I got the Curry Chicken and Beef Lo Mein, and the Curry Chicken was OUT OF THIS WORLD. So good, I couldn't believe it as I don't expect from delivery food. This was truly amazing though. And the Beef Lo Mein was actually really good too, and the rice was in perfect consistency. I did not have a good experience eating here. The owner and staff were very kind and conversed well, but I did not like the food at all. We ordered the twice cooked pork and some Sichuan style fish. We were told about the more expensive fish options, but I felt like we were steered away from those options. I felt like they were not priced that well, but it may have been better. I only went to this sketchy looking place outside the back gate of Elmendorf because of the 5 star rating. The place is a total dump in a run down mini mall. Furnishing consisted of a few beat up booths and mismatched folding chairs/tables in the main dining area. 'Ok, 5 stars, be brave and look past the initial image' I said to myself. 5 stars, one of the highest rated places in Anchorage.... Well, I guess my mistake was not to order off the highly touted 'authentic' menu and ordered off the 'lau fung gway' menu. But I was only one person and wanted a single dinner for take-out, so I had no choice. The MOST disgusting kung pao chicken I have had in my life. Sauce consisted of canned artificial red corn starch heavy nasty sauce with skin included chicken, onions, and green peppers. No peanuts or dried peppers! Accompanying this was sweet and sour pork with a heavy greasy coating in the same disgusting red sauce as the kung pau. Came with greasy non-appetizing fried rice and an egg roll that was previously frozen and reconstituted with another heavy wallop of nasty tasting oil. Took a few bites, the rest went into the trash (and I was really hungry too..) Absolutely #1 authentic Chinese restaurant in whole Alaska. I am from northeastern part of China (the chef happens to be from the same place). The taste is very good and the quality is similar to LA and Houston for a few dishes (such as 东北乱炖，boiled mixed dish with eggplant, potato, cooked pork). The noodle with boiled oil (you need to ask for this, not on the menu), 油沷面, is quite reasonable (I stayed in Shaanxi for a long time so I know what is good). This restaurant seemed ok from the outside, but when you step inside, it smells amazing. The service is great. Also, their food seems to be authentically cooked, I overheard that the chefs are straight from China! So your know you are going to eat some awesome noodles! Wow, this place is generally decent. However, they seem to have went downhill over the last few times. I ordered the beef noodle soup and it was the most Americanized, bland tasting soup I have ever ordered. We also ordered the house special and it made Panda Express look like a 5 star restaurant. Oh I love this place & their Chinese food. I love the vibe of it, too. Seriously doesn't feel like Anchorage but more like out of town somewhere. Don't be fooled by the atmosphere or the service. I love China Town. Let me say it again, "I LOVE CHINA TOWN!" This restaurant has the absolute best food. I have been going there since the original owner, and the new owner still carries on the quality of food and fantastic service that China Town is know for. The interior isn't anything really fab , but the service and food (especially the lunch buffet) really make up for it. China Town is the best kept secret in Anchorage. The workers are RUDE. We have ordered in the past with no problems, but tonight... We ordered at 5:56pm and they said they would deliver in one hour. An hour and a half went by, so my husband called and asked very politely if the food would be here soon... They assured us it was on the way. At 8pm, two hours after we ordered, he called again. The lady on the phone flipped out and said she was telling the driver to just throw our food out and then she hung up! We tried to call back but they would not answer. We had to use *67 to hide our number to get them to answer. We said we still wanted the food and she rudely said fine and hung up. It has been 2 hours and 23 minutes since we have ordered and out poor kids fell asleep with no food. I have no idea if they are even bringing our order. I am very upset about how we were treated since we are loyal customers. We will not be ordering from here anymore. read more

Moo Shoo Pork [reg menu] & Moo Shoo House special [Chinese menu] both delicious and came with extra pancakes. Fried Shrimp on lettuce O.K. crab/cream cheese apps awesome, all apps very good. The food is average but it is convenient, especially for Anchorage's large military population because they deliver to people residing on JBER. The vegetable fried rice is one of the best in Anchorage. The menu is reasonably priced; about $30 for two. The chicken is average with other Chinese restraints. China Town is clearly a house in decline. On the basis of other reviews, we chose China Town for the first and last time. Not only did they mess up our take out order, but the food that we got was bland greasy and tired. Then, when we called to rectify our order, the management argued that the order was correct, that we were trying to get food for free, and immediately before hanging up on us, they called my wife "stupid and cheap". So unpleasant was our experience that my wife is negating the charges on our credit card as I type this. Bad food, the wrong order and hostile management is the perfect storm of a restaurant that has seen better days. Never again. If only I could rate this restaurant with fewer than one star. read more

Best Chinese food in Anchorage. You get excellent, fresh fried rice. You get generous slices of BBQ pork, not the thin, shriveled things you buy at the store. Dropped to 3 stars. Sorry, China Town, you no longer have my love. Went there yesterday for a late lunch at the request of the older kid. Had a great experience last time, so thought it would be another edition of fabulosity! Not so. Broke down tables with duct tape on the seats, shouted at by the host from across the room, long wait for the waitress, no special menus, slow drinks, dirty floors and restroom, and NASTY food. Seriously. The egg drop soup was nothing more than water, corn starch, and a couple eggs thrown in. My "shrimp with lobster sauce" was the egg drop soup with some vegetables and shrimp added. The fried rice was the color of soy sauce with some chicken bits and (guess!) egg. The water-fried dumplings were alright, but came out after our dinners (because they took so long to cook, said the waitress) so kind of killed the whole idea of an "appetizer." Prices were average. Came away with a $49 bill and feeling like I'd been sitting at a salt lick. I'll avoid this place for now. Meh. read more

In my opinion, the chinese food (dinner menu) here is the best offered in Anchorage.

we went on a Saturday for lunch so there wasn't a buffet. We ordered off of the regular menu. We had the King Pao chicken, stir fried eggplant with chicken, and a side order of stir fried seasonal vegetables. It was all just delicious. I especially enjoyed the eggplant dish because it was so nicely seasoned and the eggplant was tender and not bitter at all. This place is definitely worth trying if you like Chinese food. read more

We were traveling in Alaska and after several days of sandwich, pizza, burger fare, we seriously missed some steaming hot Chinese cooking (yes, we are Asians!!!). Found this restaurant through yelp iphone app, and it was great! The food was authentic (highly recommend their fish soup), attentive service, and the chef sent us a big plate of tasty fried rice free of charge! The price was a real bargain as well, which is a nice surprise as compared to other restaurants in Alaska. During our 8-day trip, we happily ate there twice! :) read more
