Best Chinese Food I've had in Tucson. My favorites are the salt and pepper shrimp, and the house egg foo young.

As a native Chinese myself, I can guarantee the authenticity of this restaurant! Very impressive! The 辣子鸡丁 is the best that I've had since I was born - even better than the numerous ones that I had in China. Also there will be some hidden menu if you get to know the owner, which is a big bonus! Added.. I came back for lunch the next day before heading to the airport and I tried the beef noodle soup. It was AWESOME!!!! The beef melts in your mouth and the soup is delicious with a hint of spicy, just perfect! Highly recommend! read more

Best Chinese restaurant in Oro Valley, pretty authentic. I love the shrimp hotpot, yuxiang eggplant, especially Hunan beef. It is the same owner as Panda House in Tucson. So if you don't want to drive that far, this is a decent choice comparing to any other options you in OV. read more

Today I had shrimp fried rice and kung Pao chicken. The shrimp fried rice tasted so bland and lacked any flavor. I seemed like the cook just mixed together plain rice and through some shrimp in later. Overall this was second and it was very disappointing. We were sold that this was very high quality restraurant when we went one month ago. Now I am not convinced. read more

Well just left the China Valley the food is the best I have eaten. But what was most impressive was this is a family working hard at the American Dream. The young people were working hard setting people, serving people, taking orders and paying bills. What I did notice is few rude customers and to you, shame on you. My hairdresser us nextdoor, so we decided to try it out. Meh, bland, boring food. The hot and sour soup was too sour, and not very hot, tasted only of vinegar. The chicken egg rolls were completely bland, in fact I think they frozen. I know I've had better from the supermarket frozen foods area. The pork egg Foo young was ok, but again, no flavor. The steamed rice was overcooked, and the cashew chicken sauce had no flavor at all. No family style dinner options available, and way overpriced. We won't be going back. read more

Each dish was awful. Used to be my favorite restaurant for Chinese food. Had take out for the first time since the corona virus and probably a while before, so I really wanted Chinese food, we ordered a lot. I didn't eat, my husband who is generally easy to please, didn't care for his food. I could do a dish by dish, but I won't. Never again. Too much $$$ for bad food. Even though I've had a few issues with my online order not going through and delivery not being able to be made, I still give them 5 stars. The beef chow fun was delicious! The beef was soft and lean. Crab puffs and egg drop soup were yummy! Really it's a great place to try and not overly expensive. Place just opened so there is no visible sign and there was not enough staff but I'm sure it's in progress. Our second visit. We both tried new things. My husband doesn't really like crab puffs but he devoured these then fought for half of the last one. He ate all the vegetable spring rolls so I didn't try those. We had curry chicken which was really good. I'm really picky about it cuz I make it and my mom makes it and most restaurants don't do a good job but I loved theirs. This is my favorite Schezwan-Chinese restaurant in Tucson/Oro Valley. Their Shrimp with Dry Chilli Pepper is delicious!!

Great food, friendly service, and great value. This has made my regular rotation. The spicy beef dish with three stars (I can't remember the name of it) was fantastic. Fresh jalapeños with thinly sliced tender beef stir fried all together was delicious but it was as spicy as advertised. read more

First time ordering delivery from China Valley...actually first time having their food. We were not disappointed!!! We ordered the General Tso chicken and Black Pepper Beef along with an order of Shrimp Fried rice. All three dishes were delicious. Beef and chicken were flavorful and tender. The fried rice was equally as good. We were pleasantly surprised that we had our order in less than 25 minutes from the time we ordered it. I believe it was the owner himself that delivered...but not certain. Great food, pleasant experience and fast delivery!! Definitely going to make this our "go to" Chinese food place!! read more

The food here is SO GOOD. And the gentleman that works here has wicked skills. He is like a flash of lightning back and forth between kitchen and dining room, putting together to-go orders like a master. I will admit, the online ordering function they offer should be removed. (I don't think this guy has time to be checking if online orders come in.) Regardless, I highly recommend this place to everyone I can because this place is AMAZING and needs to stay in business forever please. General Tso is on point! If you took me to this place with I blindfold on I never, not in a million, trillion years would have guessed that I was in a north Tucson suburb. The first time I ordered from here I only got won ton soup which tasted like it had sugar in it and the second time I ordered here (figured I would give it another try) since the reviews on here are pretty good and the pictures of the food look good but tonight will be the last time I go here because it was horrible. I ordered the Mu Shu chicken (which I love back home where I'm from in Rhode Island) but the one I got here looked totally different and tasted terrible!! I went here on June 13th with my mom and brother. I wasn't sure what to expect because most Chinese places in the area are pretty bad... Here's my take on the place.. 1st. The service, our server was amazing! Food came very fast and was warm. The server was funny and was always checking on us to see if everything was ok. 2nd. The food. So we got the lunch special which comes with an egg roll, a soup, and a crab puff . The soup came first, we got a Hot and Sour and an Egg drop soup. Both soups were amazing! The flavors were outstanding and we couldn't get enough! When the food came, the first things I ate was the crab puff and the egg roll. The crab puff was soooo good, same with the egg roll, the rice was good too. I got orange chicken, my brother got Lo Mein. My mom got a beef dish. It was all good, the beef was outstanding. The one thing I didn't like was the sauce on the orange chicken, it was really slimy. Other Othan that, my chicken had a nice tougher outside and a tender inside, it was delicious! Tonight was the first time my wife and I visited China Valley. Service was disorganized and poorly done. The server, a young lady, was pleasant and friendly enough but badly needs training on how to be a good server. Since it was our first time, I will reserve judgment on the food other than that the Chinese eggplant I had was the best I ever tasted. The sauce was so full of flavor and esthetically beautiful. I am willing to bear not-so-good service to go back and try other dishes, with the hope that food quality will be as good as the eggplant and that service improves. We need a restaurant that serves good Sichuan style food in NW Tucson. Second visit: We had lunch there yesterday, our second visit. The beef with black bean sauce was excellent -- very tender beef with great flavor that was every bit as good as I have had in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay area. My wife enjoyed the pork lo mien as well. Service was good and prompt, but it was around 2:30 PM, with only one other table occupied. China Valley continues to be my favorite place in Tucson for well prepared, tasty Chinese food, irrespective of the complaints about less than stellar service. I hope our community will give them some time to learn the art of good service in return for providing outstanding food. read more

Very good food, helpful staff. I regularly visit Tucson, so this is not an everyday place for me. If I lived here, it would be a regular place. This visit, the staff has helped me to learn a lot more about Szechuan food. I have tried the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, Fish with Chinese Pickle in soup, Northern Braised eggplant, twice-cooked pork and Stir Fried Green beans. I liked them all. These dishes are more savory than typical American-Chinese fare, which is sweet. Two nights ago, I ordered dinner (Chong Qing spicy Chicken and the green beans). As I was waiting for my meal to come out I saw a pair of Asian women eating dishes I did not recognize. As I paid for my takeout meal, I asked what they were eating. "Szechwan fish filet and braised eggplant," was the answer. The next day, yesterday, I ordered braised eggplant for lunch. When I got to the restaurant, the hostess recognized me from the previous night, and when I told her I ordered braised eggplant -- she asked if I wanted the dish she pointed out the previous night? Yes! I said. She asked the chef to make a new dish. The dish I wanted was braised eggplant -- northern style. It was savory -- not the usual sweet braised eggplant. Last night, I stopped in again and ordered the fish with Chinese Pickle in soup. It was a serving for two to three. I took the leftovers back to my hotel room. (Eating it cold, still good, as I write this review.) I plan to return for lunch today and try a noodle dish recommended by the hostess. The American Chinese food is very good (based on comments I overheard from other diners), but so is the Szechuan food. I appreciate that the staff took the time to explain that the chef was from this region and was making the food of his homeland. I do not have a lot of experience eating off the American menu and don't have a background with which to compare this food. I did like it very much. It was well spiced. I recommend this place and will seek out more opportunities to eat what Chinese people are eating. read more

What a surprise! We had a low expectation when walking into this small Chinese restaurant. The place is in a small plaza next to Fairfield inn. It looks a like typical "American Chinese Food" restaurant with "orange chicken" and " Gong Pao Chicken". But surprise, the dishes are very authentic Chinese, "Szechwan Fish Hot Pot" and " Chong Qing Hot Pot" are exactly what I had in China. Vegetables are very tasty and tender. Food is good, not great, just good. With limited choices it's better than GMG and Panda Express, but not by a wide margin. Their HUGE failure is the virus inspired pickup. When we showed up for our food on the last two occasions, there has been no one there! Shouts and even banging on the door get no response. The old man who responds to your phone call could care less and reinforces that impression when you finally get your food. You really have to want Chinese to put up with these clowns. Makes you almost willing to put up with the trip and the $$$ of a trip to PF Chang's. read more
