Gosh where do I begin. I ordered food off of Chow Now because I received a flyer in the mail and though, why not try something Local. Ordering food was fine I ordered a family meal with orange chicken, orange beef, plain fried rice and wontons and then , a side order of egg flower soup and chicken chow mein. I get a call from the delivery guy that I NEED to come downstairs and get my food, no big deal, people get lost in this apartment complex all the time, so I go downstairs with my 8yr old to pick up the food from the driver. Upon meeting with the driver, he starts telling me that why did I leave him such a small tip, becoming argumentative and super hostile, he scared my son so we went back inside. On TOP of that, I got inside and the rice is missing. I send a complaint through the ChowNow and they call me to ask what happened. I repeat everything and they get me on a three way call with the manager of the restaurant, Ricky. Ricky was not rude, but didn't really seem to want to lose any money. Our conversation consisted of a lot of awkward silence and "oh I'm sorry, really? Are you sure they forgot the rice? The driver was probably upset because it's been a busy day. If you want I can re deliver the rice (which would have arrived well after dinner) or I can refund you the cost of a fried rice. " I opted for the refund because obviously, why should I pay for something I didn't receive. Furthermore, we get off the phone, my family sits down to eat and all the food is super super oily/greasy, like they were in a rush to get it out and sent it out straight from the oil to the plastic containers they came in. No one ate their food, so again, not only did I waste my time waiting for the food, I got a hostile delivery person and my food order wasn't complete on top of the food not being good. It's disappointing, and literally money thrown away because we had to throw all the food away. I won't ever order from here again or recommend this place to anyone. read more

I ordered for delivery combination fried rice and stir fry green beans that comes with rice. Paid $37 and rice came out halfway cook. I called to let them know but they start telling me that they cook rice every day and that is how it is. I'm Asian and knows how cook rice. I brought it back and they don't want to replace it with what I want. So they said they will replace it with chow mien. What a waste of money. Did not get any apologies from this guy. Acting rude. What's up with that? When in fact I am a a regular customer there. First time I complained about their food and that is what I got. Lesson learned. After ordering, I noticed the the bill was 30% more than what their website quoted. I called them to ask and have it adjusted but they informed me the website has the "old graphic" and the price changed. I told them they should honor their website price (which also matches their menu) and they simply said "sorry we can't override the price" I'm sorry but you're spending so much money advertising then charge different prices than one your menu and on your website... and it wasn't a small difference... $57 vs $81. The person on the phone does not know who is driving your food to you and it takes her 17 minutes to figure it out. They rely on a 3rd party for delivery so you are better off using the 3rd party yourself. It has currently been 1 hour and 27 minutes since we ordered, and 28 minutes past the time they quoted for the delivery, on a Monday afternoon. This is a place that you should order takeout. The dining room only has a few tables and it's in a kind of ghetto plaza. The cooks were also yelling at each other in Chinese. But what restaurant doesn't? Our experience has been 90% positive. Tip: If you see a little red chili pepper in the mix, don't eat it and then complain about the heat. You can't continue eating it, but you do; that's on you. You are not the victim if you continue eating it. If orange chicken is too hot and spicy, you can ask not have put chili in the dish. We love China West Express! They are in our rotation of takeout meals but especially a go to when we are arriving back from a trip. Last night, I accidentally ordered pickup but we would never make it prior to closing. I called to cancel since I would not make it in time and the man who answered said they could deliver it instead. We didn't get home until about an hour after it arrived but it was still delicious! It is the worst Chinese style eggplant fish I have ever had. The fish was also flavorless and instead. The soupy broth tasted as if it had been made a week ago. There were hardly any pieces of fish and the fish that was there was extremely mushy and bland. I would be embarrassed to serve this kind of food out of my kitchen. This place has amazing food 5 stars there! But every time I call and order there seems to be a disconnect with the front to the cooks. I waited 25 minutes for my food today after I phone ordered. A lady came in and ordered 7 lunch specials and still go her food before I did. I asked several times if my order was ready and it wasn't until I asked the 5th time that I actually got my order. I ordered shrimp chow mein and in about 2 minutes it was ready...seemed odd that something cooked fresh would be ready so quickly. The food was OK, but disappointing. I arrived at 2:00, place my order of several items, asked if they'd be so kind to wrap the ENTIRE order in foil because I had a 6 hour drive home, they said 15 minutes, filled my gas tank at speedy gas, and it was done in 10 minutes wrapped in foil and ready to go. Keep in mind, I live in a very remote area just south of Yosemite, it's pretty far away. I arrived home at 8:00 on the dot, food STILL WARM and am eating it as we speak here in June Lake,CA.
