The egg rolls were what I've been searching all over Chicagoland for. They have the peanut butter in the filling! Crab rangoon were plump filled with cream cheese and crab. Beef chow fun was nice and chewy and had tons of beef! This place is awesome! It's kind of in the middle of nowhere with no other shops around but the food is great. This was substandard Chinese food. Teriyaki beef tastes like it came out of a bottle. Wontons were crackers. Shrimp was overly breaded. Mongolian beef had heat but not flavor. Egg rolls consisted of odd flavors and some vaguely meat like substance. The only thing that was ok was the lemon chicken. Sauce tasted like it came from a jar. One carton of rice and teriyaki beef was poured over rice so rice was soggy. All in all, this was a sad, expensive dinner. We will not be back. read more

We had a very solid first experience. We came based on the positive reviews and was glad to not be disappointed. We decided to eat in and was greeted by the owners. I loved Danny immediately, with his very friendly and unpredictable personality. The space was open and bright but not too bright. Everything was spotless and I appreciated the new decor. The dining room was pretty busy for an early Tuesday evening. Since it was out first time, we ordered our staples as a base for our basic standards; Sweet & Sour Chicken and Mongolian Beef. Both were great and would order again. The Eggrolls with Peanut Butter was a little unexpected and wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but it definitely grew on me with each bite and now I'm a fan. The ingredients were all fresh and I loved the fresh pineapple in the Sweet & Sour sauce. I knew from first impressions that our server, Erika ("with a K"), was going to be great. She was very sweet, attentive and somehow managed to serve the entire dining room without missing a beat. She even knew exactly when to bring boxes to take our leftovers home. My wife and I went for an early dinner and it was spectacular!!! Our server Erika was so kind and awesome. It was our first time at this restaurant and she helped us pick out the perfect dinner. Daniel , the owner stopped by a couple of times to check on us and make sure that we were happy. My wife is still raving about the egg rolls. We had Kung pow chicken and orange chicken. I'm from Northbrook on a never-ending journey to find a great Chinese restaurant on the North Shore. Sadly my journey continues. We came for a convenient dinner based on yelp recommendations. Our server has clearly worked there for a long time and was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We liked her and followed a lot of her recommendations. I'm sure we got the best of their dishes and am confident in saying the food is above average Americanized Chinese food. We started with the sizzling golden rice soup that didn't sizzle but did have yellow broth. It was tasty with lots of ingredients (proteins and vegetables) but not many layers of flavor. I added spicy chili oil to give it a kick start. For entrees we shared moo shu pork that was below average and Mongolian Three that was very average and too spicy for my wife. The tea and accompanying white rice was fine and the almond cookies that came with the check were the best part of the meal. This little place in the suburbs is the best Chinese food I've ever had! First you're greeted by the owner, Danny, who always has a big smile and excitement. The lovely Erika, the server, is just as friendly and doesn't miss a beat. Food...I had Mongolian beef and the beef was as tender as a filet. The sauce was fantastic with green onions and crisp little noodles on top. I ordered mine extra spicy and it was perfect. They used real Szechuan peppercorns which made the dish even better. The place is small and honestly, it is the best place for Chinese food that I've been to in a very long while. The amount of food you get is ridiculous. The portions are generous for the price, the Chinese dishes we ordered were very good and came out quick, the staff was very friendly, our waitress Erika (with a k!) was nothing short of amazing. The crab Rangoon came in an order of 4 very large and filled pieces. The bbq pork fried rice, beef lo mein, walnut shrimp, and orange chicken were great. We only ordered pad Thai off the other menu, which was a little bland for my liking. But to be fair, I am very particular about how I like my Thai dishes... and this is a Chinese restaurant. I am so happy Danny and Mary opened this place in Wheeling (or is it Prospect Heights?). We moved to Elk Grove in 1998 and the best Chinese food around was Chinese Munch In on Golf Road in Arlington Heights. We discovered they also owned House of Szechwan on Busse Rd in Mount Prospect, but the Golf location was always closest to us. We love their egg rolls, fried rice, Mongolian beef, crab Rangoon, and Sweet N Sour Chicken. Anyway, they sold the place on Golf, opened up another House of Szechwan on Northwest Highway in Des Plaines, and the House of Szechwan on Busse eventually closed (they tore down that strip mall and put up apartments). As long as we had a restaurant run by Mary and Danny within driving distance we were happy. Unfortunately, they sold the location on Northwest Highway and things were looking bleak for us after 20 plus years of visiting their establishments. One day, while looking for good Chinese restaurants in the area, we realized they had opened this restaurant in Wheeling. We were ecstatic (for about a year we were driving to New Star Restaurant in Elmwood Park- not terribly far but parking is atrocious for carry out). They have the same recipes and food you've enjoyed at all their other locations and we hope this location stays around for a while. Best American-Chinese food in the northwest suburbs hands down. read more

It was spicy which was the first time I've experienced that dish being automatically spicy at a restaurant. I requested mild on their third party ordering site but no one read the comments. And thumbs up on the hot and sour soup. I'd avoid the online ordering site. It's confusing as it's hard to navigate with just text and drop down menus. It's better when restaurants have a pdf of their menus with photos. Easier to view and decide. Coworker didn't receive an egg roll with his lunch special. Make sure everything is in the carry out bag. The staff was extremely friendly and sociable. After trying all Chinese takeout/delivery in my area, I found Chen's on Rand Rd. Recently they closed! Then looking on here I almost cried when I saw Chinese Munch In REOPENED in Wheeling. I am a Chinese food snob. This is top tier Chinese food. First off, it's always tasty at any time. Fresh, warmed up, cold, standing outside of your fridge at 10 pm and using your fingers, the taste is always top tier. They package your food like someone who cares. We always get the 10 mini egg rolls and they cut a little hole at the top and the egg rolls are always crunchy, not even cold because they stack it between your rice and main dish so it stays warm. The service is great, I've never actually sat and eaten at this place. But the first time I came to pick up food, the owner chatted me up and demanded I take a can of soda and gave me extra almond cookies. When I do go to pick up my food, the ambiance is really nice. It's that fancy casual Chinese feel that makes you feel like this could be your regular dining spot. I hope to actually eat inside soon!! Can't wait. read more

Great place! I ate here for the first time on Nov. 5 after hearing a lot of positive reviews in recent months. It lived up to its reputation! The menu was large, with pages devoted to different cuisines, including Chinese, Thai and Filipino. When my friend and I entered, we were greeted by several very friendly employees and seated at a table with a kettle of hot tea. I ordered the spicy Kung Pao Chicken entree, and it was perfect -- perfectly spicy, not overly salty, full of chicken and an overall huge portion -- enough food for a few meals! As we finished, we were given takeout boxes for our leftovers as well as fortune cookies and a plate with two almond cookies for dessert. These cookies were delicious, with an intense almond flavor, and I was thrilled when our server, Daniel, returned with two packages, each containing FOUR of these cookies, to bring home. I've been going to all the restaurants that Danny has owned for many years. Today I went to Munch inn.They tried charging us extra $6 because we ordered 3 egg rolls and 1 large order of chop suey. However, they charge a delivery fee of $5.00 in addition to the recommendation of a tip which I paid b/c it's unclear what goes to the driver. I don't understand why delivery places do this?
