Chipotle is a great place to eat because of how easy it is to customize your meal. I always get a bowl and sometimes a tortilla on the side which doesn't cost extra. You can also add more lettuce which sometimes they don't out a lot so you can ask for more which is great. Their tortilla chips are also so addictive to eat with the guac. The bowl is a good price and it's enough for two people. It's a good fast food place to eat healthy as well. read more

What is it about Chipotle that is so addicting? I was chatting with one of my friends today, and we often run lunch ideas by each other. She works downtown and I work in the University District so our food selection is slightly different, but it's still fun to get an opinion. Today she said "I feel like Chipotle." And BAM. Just like that my craving was born. I went into Chipotle around 11:30am, which is just before the lunch rush. Beware going anytime around the noon-ish area. You will probably end up in the back of a line that goes out the door and up the Ave waiting for your burrito. I wound up with a veggie fajita burrito with most of the fixin's. It was very delicious. For some reason Chipotle knows how to put together the correct mix of flavors to come out with an outstanding lunch. The service is very quick, so if you are a picky eater be careful about your ordering. They slap together these things so quickly that you hardly have time to get a word in edge-wise. It's good that the lines go through so quickly, but kinda sucks when you get stuck with something you would have preferred much less of. I've never eaten the chips at the University District Chipotle, but I know the ones at Northgate are delicious, so I hope they use the same kind. If you're in the area and not during lunch rush, I say go ahead and satisfy your burrito craving at Chipotle. Grab a friend, a couple burritos, chips and guacamole to split between you, and hopefully an outdoor seat once the weather starts letting up. Your tummy will thank you. It was within a week that I ordered the same thing at Qdoba as I had at Chipotle: Chicken burrito bowl, black beans, rice, lettuce, tomato salsa, and cheese. I was in a prime position to compare the two. While the Chipotle was not perfect, it was much better than the Qdoba. The chipotle rice and chicken were more moist and flavorful. I was very surprised how filthy the place is, counters were dirty, floors haven't been cleaned for who knows how long. I asked the gal preparing my burrito bowl to get me some fresh black beans as the remaining beans were dried and caked onto the sides. She got a new container, scraped the sides of the old one and dumped it into the new. She than scooped the crusty old beans right onto my bowl. We moved down the line to the guacamole and she did the same thing even after I asked her not to. I did eat it and hopefully I won't get sick? To start off the woman who served me my food was INCREDIBLY rude. I have a service animal that I bring with me everywhere and she asked me if he was a service dog to which I replied yes to. She then asked me for proof of service (I.e. his papers) which is NOT LEGAL. She then tried to argue with me when I told her it was not legal and said that they had a huge health inspection coming up and it was going to be my dogs fault if they did not pass. Both times the orders were incorrect, and both times I felt sick afterward. The only way to really compare Chipotle's is based on the line and the service (I've yet to find variance in the food). This one gets real busy from about noon-2PM on weekdays. Every time I have come here in the last few months they have either been closed or not accepting in person orders. Today I stood in line for over 20 minutes without an employee acknowledging my existence and when I approached an employee they told me they were only accepting online orders. Don't go to Chipotle. Take your business elsewhere. You're not wanted. You're the collared dork that walked into the biker bar. You're the police officer that stumbled into the mafia's backroom. Everything was loaded-- the lettuce, brown rice, pinto beans, sour cream, fresh salsa, and guacamole -- except for the carnitas. I was pretty disappointed, especially since this was my sister's first time eating at Chipotle. My boyfriend ordered the steak burrito and he had the same problem. I swear, I am generally forced to eat at Chipotle at least once a week. I usually I go with my friends after our museum law class, because nothing chases stories about rampant corruption at the Metropolitan Museum of Art like impregnation with a little burrito baby of your very own. I don't know why, but my friends never get sick of this place. For the most part, I think they are creatures of extreme habit. However, one of my friends who is instilled with an obscenely vocal love for all things from Colorado goes to get a taste of home. Do you know Chipotle is from Colorado? Well I do, because I hear about it EVERY WEEK! The food is fairly decent fresh-mex. I would chose Chipotle over Taco Del Mar, but not Tacos Guyamas. For some reason, Chipotle's tortillas always wind up sticking to my teeth and the roof of my mouth as though they were made from Wonder bread. While some people may find this erotic, to me it's just annoying. Chipotle also has a tendency to drastically over-salt their chips. Seriously, some of them are more like salt-wafers with cornflower sprinkled on them. I always end up setting aside the particularly egregious specimens for later scientific examination. Today, Colorado girl took a bite out of one and sent salt flakes spraying into the face of the girl sitting next to her, who immediately died of a coronary. I lied about the coronary, but the rest is true. Finally, for some reason, the management at Chipotle has instituted a program of forcefully annoying customer service. Whenever we show up, we are greeted by otherwise socially inept burrito artists asking us how our day is. They even send a busboy around to the tables to inquire about our eating experience. Get lettuce instead. 4. Don't get sour cream or guacamole. Neither has much protein and they actually charge you extra for guacamole, in violation of several U.N. resolutions. 5. Get meat. If I don't eat chipotle for a week, I swear I go through withdrawals. I don't know what it is, it is difficult to explain, but chipotle is just so good. It is served faster than any fast food restaurant, but is nowhere near fast food when it comes to quality. No matter what you get, you won't be disappointed. The chicken is actually grilled and tastes oh so good, the cilantro lime rice is more than just rice, and the toppings are fresh. I am personally a fan of the good old burrito, although I have had the burrito bowl and it is just as good (same thing as the burrito minus the bread). Both chicken and steak are my personal favorites and their corn salsa is just a must have. This location is always extra busy if you go during lunchtime, but the staff here is just amazingly fast and that huge line that goes out the door only lasts 10 min at most. Maybe everyone should review Chipotle every now and then! Do it when you're getting your car's oil changed, or replacing those batteries in your smoke detector, or scheduling that yearly physical exam! [So, never, if you're like me?] To wit: Chipotle is certainly fine at what they do, but it's a one-speed sort of proposition. If you like cilantro-lime rice, black or pinto beans, meat, salsa, cheese, sour cream, and a tortilla, then hey, you are all set. But if any of those items don't strike your fancy, we're talking removal rather than replacement. Variety here boils down to four meats and four salsas, and then a burrito tortilla or taco tortillas. Or no tortillas. Or no meat. [Y'know, removal.] There is something to be said for simplicity, though, and that's where Chipotle earns its stripes. It's fast, the aforementioned meats and salsas are a step above two-star competitors Taco Del Mar and Qdoba, and the price is right. Oh, except for the guacamole! Just like everywhere else, I guess. Are we at the point now where I'm going to start seeing late-night commercials enticing people to earn cash for sending in their scrap avocados? No matter. While Chipotle may never be my number one recommendation for lunch, it's always in the mix as a solid fallback, every time. OK, here's the thing about Chipotle: There has got to be some kind of additive that goes into their food that makes you like it. I honestly hated Chipotle for over a year (after trying it several times) and couldn't figure out why people loved it so much. But I have a few friends who are huge fans, so I found myself here more often than I would have liked. And slowly, I started to not only enjoy the burritos, but actually crave them. I don't know how that happened. My one complaint is that they don't mix the fillings that go into the burritos. I always ask them to (sorry, but I don't like eating half a burrito of just rice and sour cream and another half of just chicken and lettuce) - sometimes, they do a pretty good job, but mostly they don't. I think that mainly has to do with the busyness of this particular location. One big plus is the free drink with your Husky Card. I also usually get chips and guac to split with my friend (and even between the two of us, we can't finish the bag) - the chips are so good. So bad for you, but so good. Quick, cheap, filling. Chipotle is really just the poor man's version of Qdoba. Well I shouldn't say "poor man's", because the prices are only slightly less. Rather, it's more a watered down version of Qdoba - fewer choices and much less flavor. I went with the Steak burrito, and definately noticed the inferiory quality of the meat. It was bland and chewy, and left me wondering if someone had dropped their gum in it. Other than that, it still was a decent tasting, good sized burrito. However, about halfway through I began feeling tingly, like I was going to break out in hives. Makes you wonder what they're putting in these things. I wouldn't call Chipotle a horrible dining experience, but I saw little reason to go back. For burritos in the U District, I think I'll just keep fighing off the flies at Taco Del Mar. It's too bad there's no Qdoba or Baja fresh nearby, because Chipotle would quickly be out of business. One tip - STAY AWAY FROM THE CHIPS. They're completely tasteless, oversalted, and essentially taste like fried dough run over a margarita glass. What is the big deal about this place? Okay, so it has big ass burritos for a decent price. The burritos themselves are fine. Nothing special...other than the previously stated fact that they are huge. I suppose it's quick, easy, and you get to choose what you want in your burrito. YOU JUST PUSH THE DOOR!" She then stares at me before walking away. So I think "What the hell?! Oh....maybe she just means it's just unlocked right now or something...." So I go back and try the handle. Locked. Of course it's effing locked - I'm supposed to get the damn key from that insane woman! I wait for a minute or two on the chance that there is someone actually using the restroom...but of course not. I would often eat at Chipotle in Denver before McDonald's bought the company, even then I could still buy a burrito for less than $5. My complaint is not about technical problems, but about the terrible customer experience I had with the store. I placed the order at 4:47 according to the email I received. The projected delivery time was 5:25. At 5:40, I called the delivery Chipotle and asked about my order status. I was told there was a computer problem, but the driver told them what the order was, picked it up and was on his way. At 6:10, the driver called me and told me he's at Chipotle, the order was not ready, and no one has any idea what the order is supposed to be; he's at a loss and is trying to contact DoorDash for help. I called back to the store, talked to the same person who couldn't explain why I had been lied to. I then ask if I should just tell her what the order is so they can get started on it. She said, no, I should call the driver back. So I call the driver back. I suggest he hand the phone to the Chipotle order taker so they can just key in the order. They would not do that. So I had to dictate the order to him verbally while he wrote it down on receipts. He read it back to me so I could verify he had transcribed it properly. He did. He then gave them the order. At 6:50 PM, over two hours after I had placed the online order, the food was delivered. However, that's not the end of it. There were many problems with the order. The chicken salad bowl had no chicken and was half empty. The child's cheese quesadilla had no cheese (I'm not saying there wasn't much, it was completely absent). The large order of chips was about 1/3 the size it should be and the large guacamole was absent. With this many problems in an order it's pretty clear that the staff were annoyed with the problems and were taking it out on the customer. But wait, there's more. I always want to give businesses the chance to fix problems. Nobody's perfect and there's no way to improve without knowing there's a problem. So I called back and immediately asked to speak to a manager. I did and outlined the problems above. He apologized and said that if I came in to the store, he'd give me some 2 for 1 coupons and that I could call 1-800-CHIPOTLE to get a full refund. So I call 1-800-CHIPOTLE which I find out is only the catering line. It specifically says if you have any problems or customer service need to go to the website and go to the "talk to us" section or call the local Chipotle restaurant. Since I had already spoken to the local Chipotle restaurant I went to the website and found that there is no "talk to us" section. There's an "email us" link which I suppose is close enough. That's where we are now. Chipotle, I'm letting you know that you've got some serious problems. I tried to use your online ordering to reduce my stress and take care of dinner. Oh hey... It's Burrito Subway. The quality here isn't bad, and it's reasonably priced. The food will tend to fill you up pretty quickly, and it is convenient. I'm not too impressed with the selection, though. I was impressed with the salsa sauces. I rarely see salsa rojo in many Mexican restaurants. read more
