By the time they got around to bagging the incorrect order it was cold and soggy along with the fries. Avoid this place if you don't want to wait half an hour for cold wrongly prepared food. After passing this place many times, we had an opportunity to try Chip's today. Overall, the experience was ok. They have outdoor seating which was nice. The food wasn't anything stellar but also not much to complain about so I'd say it was average. We also had their shakes which we thought weren't as good as they advertise on their wall with the words "worth it". I've certainly had much better and at $5 per small shake, I don't think it was remotely worth it. Back to the food, we had a variety of burgers and sides. Totally mediocre. The location is pretty awesome and when the rest of the 'boardwalk' is built out, it'll be even better. It's a fast casual counter service place, but that's not completely obvious at first. We and several other people throughout the evening sat down at tables both inside and out waiting for a waiter. Not a huge deal, but I could see some others getting really frustrated. It IS the first week and the processes seemed pretty solid. No ridiculous delays, staff wasn't freaking out, and overall things were in order. I have to commend them on this. The worst thing I saw was that they ran out of ice cream and milkshakes weren't available over the weekend However... here is the important part... VERY bland burgers. Pick any other greasy spoon mediocre burger place (Jakes, JC's, Five Guys, etc) and you have had this thin and dry burger before. If it were a local dive where you know the owner it would be an endearing little hole in he wall and I would tag nostalgia on it and look past the mediocrity. This is an affluent area with high expectations, and the burger fell waaaaaay short. I really love a good burger and it may be my biggest comfort food craving item (besides sweets). I don't see any reason to come back here again. Oh... as for other food items: Southwest Chicken Salad... good not great Tater Tots... basic good tots. If in a hurry, I could swing by Sonic and get the exact same tots Onion Strings... the wife said soggy and flavorless I almost gave a 2 star because I was so disappointed, but I realize that was because I had high hopes that were dashed and that a two represents a negative and this place ain't good or bad... it is just here. You have to wait in line to order your food. Then they write your name and you take it to your table where they server tries to find you. The Bison burger was pretty good. All the toppings come on the side. Nothing to get excited about, but tasty. My fries were cold. The outside area is very nice. It has a boardwalk setting with a nice water feature that includes a water fountain. If you want to go to a burger joint that is new then this is the place. I used to frequent Chips a lot when I worked off Fitzhugh and they were in that area, so I was somewhat excited to see it make it to Frisco. I went in and ordered a burger with fries and was upset that the only lemonade option was a lite lemonade. I don't know what's up with restaurants that have several carbonated drink options and with one non carbonated drink option, they make it lite... whatever. The burger and fries were extra basic; no flavor at all. I had carmalized onions and bacon on mine, added to my usual mayo and ketchup, and there was just no help for that meal. Fries lacked salt and flavor and the whole time I was thinking to myself, this is a waste of calories. Booo... The 3 star is for customer service as everyone was really nice and the boardwalk area is really cute; the food though, a definite 2. My first time at Chip's. Kept it simple and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with the standard fixings. The burger was nicely assembled, looked great and easy to hold and eat. Taste was very good. The bun was definitely a notch above most other burger joints. Fries were tasty and filling. Great portion size for only $2.49. Atmosphere with the lagoon and outdoor dining was nice. Outdoor bar was unique and very welcoming during nice weather. My order was to-go but next time I'd like just hang out and enjoy the surroundings. I'll be back. I love when a restaurant offers fruit or veggies on the kids menu, thank you for the side of fruit for my son! They performed well getting us through the line and sat. It wasn't long at all before my food came. I felt like every employee there was at my disposal for any need of mine. Even though the food was good the service was not! The "manager" refused to serve my friend and her 2 daughters because she wasn't wearing a mask. When she explained that she had a medical exemption he demanded to see her "medical exemption" card (which doesn't exist). The overall ambiance of this place was great! From the atmosphere to the food to the service everything was great. We had a cheeseburger and a bison burger. Both were really yummy to our tummies andddddd hot and fresh. The cheeseburger and the bison burger, were very tasty. They were seasoned extremely well and overall had a great taste. If you love garlic then order the garlic fries. all portions were plentiful. The best part was that the food was served extremely prompt. Did I mention the food was served extremely prompt? We sat in the bar area and our waitress Loren was on point. She seated us immediately upon arrival. Whatever we needed she was here to provide it. The hospitality that she provided was simply amazing. Loren is truly one of the best waitresses I've had in a very long time. Please make her COO or at a minimum head bar tender manager. Loren deserves a raise! The owner even came by and checked on us which was very nice. You gotta love a place that loves its customers, and have owners who truly care. Customer service was basically nonexistent but the funny thing is there's at least 15 workers on the floor. Line took forever. Order not completed. Luckily I kept my receipt as I was questioned as if I was telling them a lie. Waiter took my receipt to the grill area and the look on the guys face was nothing short of disgusted as the waiter pointed my table out to the guy. My family spent almost $90.00 bucks for food that had no flavor. Will never be back. I like the location of the restaurant as it is in the waterfront area. The price of the food is very reasonable (or cheap). However the food taste is under expectation. I got a burger of the week and fried onions. The fries were OK but the meat patty was dry. It seems the restaurant' unique selling point is that customers can customize a burger by adding toppings to a burger with a small charge. There are almost ~10 toppings. This overwhelming freedom of choosing toppings do not benefit anyone: customer's ordering time gets longer which will result in a long queue. Kitchen cooking time gets longer. Who cares toppings? I hope owner to downsize menus and toppings, and focus on making meat juicy. I am more than happy to pay extra 1~2 bucks to get better meat. read more

Feeling so disappointed about my meal not being prepared properly. I asked for the burger salad. According to the menu it should include burger Patty, onion, mushrooms, cheese, bacon and avocado. I asked for "no onion and add pickles". Not only was the salad loaded with onions, but they failed to include the bacon and avocado. I didn't see what was missing until I cut a piece of the patty. After asking a waiter for assistance he took the entire salad back into the kitchen and brought the same salad plate back with the same burger Patty minus the portion I cut away (should have still been on the plate at least) and threw the bacon and avocado on it. By then the burger patty was cold and dry and the salad looked unappealing. I didn't eat the salad. I won't be back and I don't recommend Chips Hamburgers. read more
