Painfully slow! The staff moves as if it's their first day. Long line made no difference. Good coffee but leave plenty of time.

Chocolate fish coffee roasters is a good spot to get a morning coffee and some work done. They Have some good fresh food options and of course a variety of drinks to choose from. However don't go in here thinking it is a Starbucks. This is a more "unique" coffee place and as such you will be paying a premium for the experience. Even though there are a few Chocolate fish coffee roaster stores... keep in mind since there are less the coffee is more expensive as said before. The only reason I dropped it from five stars is because of the pricing (even though in relatively its fine) and I also feel the atmosphere to be a bit "cold" but to each their own ... I thought the ambiance here was really nice and the baristas were really nice but my drink was so bad that I ended up not finishing it. I got a matcha latte for $7 and it ended up having little to no matcha in it as seen by the color and the taste of the drink. This could be an off day for the baristas but overall disappointed with my first drink from here. read more

I gave this review a two star because the coffee tastes good but the service was absolutely awful. The store was cute and clean but the barista did not want to be there whatsoever. I've went multiple times and loved it but my most recent visit was my last. The barista with medium length blue hair had the worst attitude I have ever experienced, if you don't want to deal with customers please don't work in a place where customer service is one of the most important aspects of your job. read more

The ambiance, cleanliness, service, and friendliness of the staff is 5 stars. The beautiful latte art and ceramic mug options are also 5 stars. The staff's procedural knowledge was also 5 stars. They weighed the portafilter before and after filling it with espresso and they also used a weighted distributor before tamping. You'll never see those things happen at Starbucks. Their equipment was 5 stars. La Marzocco is the Rolls Royce of espresso machines. Their espresso grinder was a Mahlkonig Peak, which is also very good. However, the espresso drink itself (latte) was about 3 stars. Their espresso blend is comprised of Brazilian natural and Honduran washed Arabicas. Brazilian natural is a requirement in espresso blends, but no good coffee comes out of Honduras, other than some of their rare high altitude specialty yellow and red honey process beans, which these were not. As a consequence of the above, the blend was very flat tasting. The really good Central American coffees are Guatemala, Colombia, and Costa Rica. After that, there is a big drop off, and beans from Honduras and Nicaragua are pretty much bottom of the barrel. It's likely a cost driven decision. The beans were not over-roasted like the commercial chains, but again, the blend was very flat with no real aroma or flavor building off of the Brazilian base in the blend. Also, I asked for it extra hot but it was just warm only. I've noticed that many roasters do this, because they try to target 155 degrees for their steamed milk, which I find too lukewarm. I also found it very strange that they did not have Splenda (but they did have saccharin, which doesn't taste good and I remember used to always have a cancer warning label on each packet in the past). A place like this should have Splenda and Stevia artificial sweetener options. I would go back for the vibe and to support the business, but not because I like their espresso drinks. read more

What a GREAT place to experience coffee. As you walk in the door the smell of coffee greets you the way a coffee shop should. I was welcomed by a sensational barista with a huge smile and a sincere hello. I couldn't decide between the affogato (made with Gunthers ice cream) or my go-to, a dopio espresso. I ordered both. Both were made perfectly and were absolutely delicious. I'm a coffee fanatic and will be retuning here often because it's that good. Workers and service has changed for the worse. I've been coming here for years and I always tip very well. They used to know me by name and everything. My recent visits have been so unpleasant I am not even greeted by anyone I stood there for 4 minutes while the girls at the counter chatted and giggled why couldn't my order be taken? The coffee is always made amazing so that's the sad part but not even a look up when I said have a good day as I left. Will not be coming back here. Tried this place for the first time yesterday. My iced vanilla latte was to die for & I love that their standard is 2 pumps of syrup in a 16oz (vs the 4 pumps that Starbucks does! ). The place was clean (restrooms included), tastefully decorated, and the employees were so friendly and sweet. This is my favorite coffee shop in Folsom. Clean and bright cafe with friendly baristas. Coffee and espresso drinks are all consistently good. I especially love the flat white and cappuccino. My only minor complaint is the awkward touch screen POS system set up. Customers are not able to touch the screen (maybe for COVID safety purposes?) and have to announce their tip amount or percentage to the cashier.
