Needed to replace transmission fluid and brake pad that estimates from 200 to 400$ depending different mechanics and shops. When I talked to Mr. Choe over phone, his estimation was about mid 200$, which was not too low nor too high, just reasonable. Then check out the reviews in yelp. Average five stars from 35 people gave me green light with confidence. Made an appointment on Sat morning. He immediately started working with my car and gave me an estimated working time, about 2.5 hours. Found a nice breakfast place around and enjoyed a nice one. When I get back, he was still working hard and I enjoyed beautiful sun outside. Exactly 10 min before his estimated completion time, he brought out the car and started test drive for 10 min. Came back and explained what and how he worked on it (yes, in Korean...!) Last 19 years of driving in the States, I've learned how hard to find a mechanic with technical robustness, sincere care and most importantly honesty. But I was looking for a reasonably priced oil change place in concord and the other options it gave me were really not very reasonable. They came through for choe's. I called. They said come in. Choe's Auto Center is the best. These guys quote quickly over the phone, fix your car up quickly, and most importantly, are super honest. They always told me what the issues were with the car, provide options on how to fix the problem, and recommended me what my actions should be with the car. It's really hard to come by honest mechanics who are not trying to charge you a leg and an arm for a fix. In life you need a trustworthy doctor, dentist, lawyer and most importantly car mechanic. This is where I come whenever I have a car problem. Mind you my car is 15 years old but runs like a Cadillac minus the usual maintenance problems. Therefore I pay a visit to Choe's every so often. I found this gem through a friend's recommendation two years ago and ever since then I have been a loyal customer to Choe's. Unlike a typical auto center Steve (one of the owners) is TRUSTWORTHY and will not try to jack up the prices for his services. He keeps it real and price you accordingly. I am very grateful to have found Choe's Auto center because I hate it when something is wrong with my car and it will cost me a few hundred dollars at other places. Especially when you know it doesn't cost that much or take that long to fix. He even gave me a ride home and picked me up after my car was ready. I guess since I am a regular he hooks me up with free mini services and doesn't charge me labor on them either. THANK YOU STEVE! The only downside is they are not open on Sundays and they close at 3 on Saturdays. But hey I can appreciate if he needs time to spend with his family. I chose Choe's based on the outstanding Yelp reviews. I figured it was going to be worth my time, and I still went away incredibly impressed. He was upfront with an estimate, completely honest, and very professional. My car ended up having electrical issues, which neither of us anticipated, and looking back I realized all the ways an average mechanic could have exploited the situation to make a few hundred dollars. There is no way I would have known any different. Not only did Choe NOT do this, he did not charge me for the diagnostic labor, which is unheard of. I think I must have jinxed myself, but after checking up on auto mechanic reviews, I bookmarked Choe's for a future visit if ever warranted. Guess who's car broke down on the freeway the other week? Driving on the freeway, I looked behind me to see a bunch of white smoke billowing out from under my car, not the exhaust pipe. So I pulled off the next ramp and thankfully, there was a commuter park/ride lot open. When I got out, the smoke had already subsided, but I thought I smelled oil. I backed the car back, and there was a huge puddle of black liquid on the ground. I could even follow it out from where I exited the freeway. At first, after speaking to several of my male advisors on the cellphone, they thought I bottomed out and ruined my oil pan or hit the transmission. Then I was worried that given the amount of "oil" that leaked out, it meant I had incurred engine damage since I was technically still operating the vehicle. I jumped on Yelp and called and spoke to Sean while waiting for the tow truck the next day. He asked specifically what took place and about the smoke and what color it was. I let him know that it looked like a bunch of oil had spilled out too. He told me to tow it over right away. Once there, he started the motor and pointed out immediately that it was not the engine but the power steering. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was going to be major, like the engine. As he drove it up to the hoist, my poor car continued to leak dark fluid. Once underneath, he used a flashlight pen to show me where the problem was arising from. We followed the lines from the power steering pump/reservoir to the area that runs parallel to the front axle. I could see the line and splashes of fluid all over the place. The white smoke was due to the power steering fluid hitting the exhaust manifold and because it had been a long time (cough) that the system had ever been flushed, it would explain why I mistook the dark power steering fluid for oil instead. He lowered the car and asked his counterpart to turn on the motor and turn the wheels to the right. He then pointed out the line to me again, this time from under the hood. The power steering line was ruptured and squirting fluid like a cut artery. He let me know that he would have to order the part first and honestly, could not give me an estimate off the top of his head without having the part first. I appreciated the honesty. We left the shop a little past 1:00. By 3:00, he had done research on my car and the part and told me with labor, we would be looking at $350. I approved the estimate, since I was forecasting $500. I dropped my car off on Saturday. By Monday morning, he called to tell me it was done. Total charges = $330, including tax. He did advise that the high pressure hose looked a little "wet" but wasn't sure if it was leaking too. He told me to keep an eye on it. Since that is easy to replace, I will do that myself in addition to the serpentine belt and the brakes in a few weeks (YouTube videos rock!) I recommend Choe's Auto Center. He is quick to assess the situation, diagnose, and offer a simple approach without seeking additional possible costs as an ulterior benefit to the business. This is not a salesman. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I had been quoted $500-$700 to fix my PT Cruiser. I pulled up to Choe's expecting to have to leave the car overnight due to all that had to be done. So happy I came here! I didn't even need an appointment. He quoted me over Yelp and stuck to it! He also said it would be done in a couple hours and he stuck to that! I came in to have my break pads replaced and he also found a nail in my tire so he fixed that up for me and then to top it off he reset my tire sensor that I've had broken for a couple years now all because I never wanted to take it to get fixed! I had a slow leak on my back passenger tire, so I brought my car into Choe's on a Saturday morning. The guys there worked on my car right away. It turns out that I ran over a nail and they patched up the hole in less than 10 minutes. They only charged me $10 for the service and in addition, polished my headlights for FREE and changed the broken light from my back license plate. Talk about great service. The guys at Choe's are hardworking and honest individuals who give you no nonsense and speedy service. I was referred to Steve by a friend, and I am very happy that I brought my business to him. NOTE: Get there early or make an appointment because he is very busy. (Hours-8:00-5:00). Steve was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He doesn't recommend repairing something that is not in need of repairing. I went in for brakes and asked him to check the shocks and struts. Many repair shops would have said to repair everything, but Steve only recommended the brakes needed repair at this point and thought there were miles left before the other repairs were needed. Went here based solely on reviews. In march I needed new front brakes and rotors, went there at 8am and they took me right away and knew I was waiting so finished in about an hour and a half. He said I needed oil, so he topped me off and even cleaned the corrosion off my battery for no charge. I was so impressed with the work that I came in again yesterday morning at 8am because I needed a new battery. They stopped what they were doing and worked on my car and I was out with in 15 minutes! Brought my car here for oil change and routine maintenance. I also had a problem with my car in which every time I put it in reverse it wouldn't move. My mechanic closed up shop and I had to find another one just when my rear right window stopped working on my 2001 Nissan Pathfiinder. If you're reading these reviews then you know how terrifying it is to try to find a car mechanic without a personal referral. A crapshoot. I turned to Yelp and narrowed it down to 2 places. Choe's is about 12 blocks from my home and being a senior citizen who doesn't run marathons any more, I thought I'd start with this place. I expected to be paying a minimum of $500--and hoped that it wasn't a rip off--but when I swung by the place, Steve seemed to divine who I was, knew what I was there for, and then, just like the story about the car that won't make the funny noise once you get it to the repair shop, Steve touched the window lever and like magic it began to work. And is still working. The point is this: Steve is honest, humorous, isn't trying to steal people's money from them, and is now my new mechanic. I'll keep updating this to keep you informed, but I am using him exclusively from now on until I have some reason not to and I will recommend him to everyone. I love working with people I respect. I had a sound coming from my front passenger side of the car. I went to Choe's, they solved my problem without offering other bogus rapairs. I would go back to them. They were first to respond to a quote with a reasonable price. The rest of the review is more details. After jacking up the car, crawling underneath, and moving things around to try to recreate the sound. I did notice some slight play with the front axle, and sure enough, when I moved it, it made a similar sound to someone sitting inside the vehicle. So I decided to get some quotes for a front axle replacement CV joint replacement (via yelp) to see what kind of prices and responses would come back. Choe's was the first to respond and had a reasonable price. I was clear to mention that I wasn't sure what the problem was, and it turns out not to be the the front axle's play. It seems like it was the brakes. Choe's team took the brakes, apart cleaned, sprayed them, and put them back together. The sound was gone. read more

One again this guys are great. They have moved and if you try to call from the Downtown Concord area, their phone just rings and you will get through to them. No fault of theirs, it's AT&T thing I guess, no suprise there. Anyways back to these guys. They are very honest, fast and offered to drop me off and pick me up at my office near Concord BART. They worked on my brakes, said the shoes were fine both front and rear. They showed what they were talking about as they let me see the brakes. I think these guys are very honest and good at what they do. They know the good service will more than pay for itself in the long run. Very smart and honest on their part, unlike most other shops out there. Many from my office also go there, ALL have had the same experience as me. Bad experiences with staff members with less than civil treatment. Was cursed at by Steve, who used sexual profanities. Contra Costa Auto center does better work and for less, while not cursing like children. He is a tiny man of about 130 pounds so it was not terribly intimidating, actually rather hilarious and pathetic, but it is was also inexcusably unprofessional.
