Unfortunate for the revenue that night. Was a nice night. Asked the bartender if they had any special types of mules they made. Response was essentially...not really. Orderd a regular one. Was a little strong for me. I had the green Chile burger w/o bun. Added bacon, egg & caramelized onion. It was cooked just as I asked. Would order again. The fried pickles as a side were good. Accept for the clumped up ones that were a little soggy. Pecan tort for desert. Very good if your in the mood for sweet stuff. If you like pecan pie with vanilla ice cream you'll like it. Restaurant has a dark candle lit romantic setting. I would give a 3.5 on rating if offered. Side note to mgmnt. Step it up a notch, if you want to compete with downtown chandler. read more

usually Chop is amazing when we go for dinner. However, last Friday was a completely different vibe. Reservations were way behind and we ended up getting a seat at the bar. waited 20 min to even get offered cocktails. They seemed a bit overwhelmed and severely understaffed. ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly but not seasoned at all and barely edible. Probably will avoid during the dinner rush from now on, especially during graduation and wedding season. read more

Took my wife out for her birthday dinner. The onion rings were a bit greasy. The New York strip was no longer available to order so they changed my order to a ribeye. Not a big deal. Then once we got our dinner, I asked for salt(I love my food salty). While I waited for the salt I attempted to cut into my steak, but with the knife they gave me, I couldn't get it to cut, and finally tearing into it, I see that the steak is still very red. I asked for medium rare... our waitress never came back. So I had to stop another waitress who was walking by to let her know that my steak was way too red for my liking. She took it and had it corrected. My wife had to finish her dinner before it got cold so we ate separately. We finished, and the other waitress asked if we wanted dessert, so we asked to see the menu. Lo and behold! Our waitress shows up our of no where asking if we would like dessert.... we told her that the other waitress was getting us a menu, and then she tried to refill my wife's drink, but it was already refilled by the other waitress. So our waitress runs off and comes back with a menu, and says, "I beat her"... no, no you didn't, cause you still haven't come back with my salt! After we decide there wasn't a lot of options for desert, we get the bill. No discounts on messing up our birthday dinner, but wait, they did charge me for the New York strip that I never got on top of the rest of the dinner... yes. I'm being charged for 2 steaks when I should have had at least a complimentary birthday dessert for my wife. Our waitress came to apologize(because clearly she knew we were given horrific service). She mentioned that she had been changed to a different section... yet no one communicated with us. We were just in limbo, while others knew who was their server and we sat for 10-15 mins each time we needed something. Save your money. Texas Road House has better steak. read more

I hate to do this but I'm over this place. When I lived in chandler and it was closer I liked having it near by. My fiancé always liked it a lot more than I did. In my opinion there are far superior options in Phoenix and closer to my house. One thing I always liked was the service. We have had a few really great servers over the years. Last night nothing was particularly good. I'm sorry but when I pay $30 for an entree I expect a little love to go in the preparation. They comped us a free bread pudding which was the one thing that was really good. This is another case of me getting home after eating and having to rush to the bathroom which didn't surprise me after the quality of the cooking why would sanitation be any more of a priority. Of course there is no way for me to know for sure that it was caused by chop. It's just a fact I had to rush home. Generally I have a fairly strong cast iron stomach and I'm fine today thank you. But pretty sure I won't be going back. Obviously with a three half star ratings I'm not the only one. I leave an extra star for the discounted bill. There is nothing in AZ like mesquite grillin, a two inch tall cowboy steak or chop. Chef Charles Osteen, partner of the group that delivered The Living Room, The Sushi Room and Humble Pie, who worked nineteen years for Houston's is continuing the ultimate steakhouse cuisine. To start, I order Chop a Rita $11. Sauza silver, watermellon, jalapeno. I best describe this drink as the local gal gone wild. My meal, a wonderfully seared tall chop $23. House cured, double cut with a baker and green apple chutney. A new American presentation. The Mission Style restaurant reminds me of Santa Barbara's Spanish Colonial Revival, an architecture I love, with tuck 'n roll booths that boasts a warm and very friendly atmosphere. First time we've been here and we won't be back. Food was bland and overpriced. The brussel sprouts were huge and undercooked, so really difficult to cut and although flavor was good, we've had much better. We ordered two house specialties and the verdict: not so special. Short ribs were extremely fatty and meatloaf was lukewarm and bland. Although the server was happy, we were told in a nice way that the kitchen doesn't like to accommodate customers. Are you serious? Being dairy free people, (one allergic and one intolerant) all we asked for was a plain potato or French fries instead of the mashed potatoes and the server said, "well the kitchen doesn't usually allow substitutions, but I'll ask" and the answer we got was "I can bring you a plain potato but then we're going to have to subtract the broccoli and carrots that go with it." The Good.. Service: there on a Wed so the place was nearly empty. Thus, we got thier full attention. The bartender, who I suspect was the manager, was great. We did not like the Pinot on happy hour (tasted like grape juice) even after he opened a ne bottle. They had no problem replacing it with his pairing for our dishes and he comp'd a desert since we were celebrating the birth of our 2nd child. Food: We had the Pork Chop (5 stars) & Pork Loin (3 stars). Chop was perfect, nothing more to say there. Loin had nice flavor with a bit of smoke but was way too dry even with the sauce. If it was moist it would have been 5 stars. Areas for improvement: Very Dark , though eye adjusted OK after a bit Very cold - needed to be a bit warmer to be 100% comfortable Music went from OK to very bad electronic music. The bartenders: They were great and friendly guys who would talk and chat it up with me and the Mrs. No longer. No more. The food prep. Terrible. The ribs were super dry when we went on Oct 21nd. The burgers were overcooked and the fries were ultra soggy. Won't be going back for awhile if ever. Was in town for business and stopped in for dinner, which ended up being a comedy of errors. So much was wrong with our experience, we eventually had to stop complaining and just laugh it off. It began with the water service, where two of our party of 5 had foul tasting water. Then, we had to try three times to order a bottle of wine before finding one in stock. One of our party had some funky gross objects floating in his martini. I think we all ordered different cuts of steak and 4/5 had something wrong with them--over cooked, undercooked, I had the single worst steak of my life, as the NY Strip cut had so much gristle in it, it was nearly impossible to cut and eat around it. Our server would disappear for huge chunks of time and was quite inattentive. After our meal, the guy in our party who picked up our tab quietly mentioned to the manager how disappointing the experience was and while they did discount the meal, the manager apparently wasn't too concerned. this restaurant is in a really nice little shopping center with all white stucco-style buildings. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger (sans the Swiss) and the Superfood side salad (sans goat cheese) the burger was typical. I liked the mushrooms. I ordered it medium, but it came out more like a medium rare. I didn't mind that much since I usually get my steaks medium rare, but I know others who would not like that. I did not expect the salad to be in such a thick creamy dressing, but it was pretty tasty. I really liked the addition of the cranberries and avocado. the turnips on the salad were pretty flavorless but they added a nice crunch. the salad even held up pretty well (bc it's kale) so I was able to eat my leftovers for lunch the next day. I have always wanted to try this place (since we usually go to Rock Lobster or Sauce Pizza & Wine which is in the same location), but I have to tell you; What a fantastic experience!! Entrance/Drink: We made reservations for 4pm on Sunday evening. We were greeted immediately by the hostess....but decided to sit at the bar. Very posh, dim but romantic place. We had the pleasure of having Jeff be our barkeep for the evening, and he was AWESOME. Asked about Jeff's drink special of the evening, and even offered to let me sample the EG Vodka (original and Rosemary/Lavender) which was so smooth and delicious. I decided to order the drink special and it was great. If you are a vodka drinker...I highly recommend. He was very knowledgable with the brand as well. Entrees: My wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast (lemon Rosemary marinade) and the spaghetti squash as her side. I ordered the Bacon Blue (Arugula Bacon Danish Bleu Cheese) added caramelized onions and added the Mac and Cheese side dish. Everything was really delicious with great flavor. Pretty much the best Mac and Cheese I have had EVER, and the burger was the second best I have had (after Gordon Ramsey's BURGR in Vegas). Dessert: Pecan torte is what we ordered. It was the perfect ending for a perfect meal. So delicious. Jeff had recommended the bread pudding for next time, which he said is even better than the pecan torte. Bonus: Every time we were done with a dish, the hostess (or another waitress) would IMMEDIATELY grab the dirty plate if Jeff was busy making drinks. Service was immaculate. We needed a last minute place to go out for Easter brunch with a party of 7 and were able to get in to Chop! The ambience was nice, a little dark but we expected that for a steakhouse. The food was pretty good for the most part except the ribs had almost no meat on them at all...hardly filling for a meal! Two rib eyes were ordered...one was very thick and cooked perfectly, the other was thin and overcooked. The wedge salad was great as were the Brussel sprouts. The Easter Brunch menu was unfortunately very overpriced for what was received and the options were not very appealing. We also expected and would have liked to enjoy some bread for the table during the meal as well. Overall I am torn on whether we would come here again but our experience with the staff was quite good. read more

One of our go-to "special occasion" restaurants or where we take out of town guests for a great time. The food and service is always great, haven't had a bad meal in the 5 years we have been coming here. The NY and Rib Eye steaks are up there in quality with Steak 44. As expected, we came here for our anniversary dinner last night and two observations stood out as odd. We notice a little boy, probably around 11 years old go behind the bar and into the kitchen. All the staff seemed to know who he was...owners kid, perhaps? The other SMH moment was seeing one of servers polish off the last couple swigs of hooch behind the counter, straight out of the bottle! This is why I always make my own doggie bag...I'm afraid I might have extra teeth marks in my steak. Other than that, a great experience like always! We'll see what shenanigans we experience during our next visit! Update: 11/16/2018: Dropped rating from 5-stars to 3-stars after 2 most previous visits having lack of service...not bad service, but rather a lack of service. We were seated right away and no one literally came by our table for 15 mins (I timed it as the wife and I were both hangry)..and the only reason we didn't get up and leave is that I had already purchased a Groupon. I finally flagged down someone who I presume is the manager as he was wearing a nice logo'd shirt. The soda flavor is very lite, had this same problem last time as well and they checked the back to make sure the flavor box wasn't empty...turn up the syrup! The food is where it's at. The sides were also perfect. Had to send my steak back as I wanted medium and was sent out rare (cool purple throughout), but was made right and is still on my top 3 list of best steaks in AZ. Made reservations on Opentable. When we arrived they were running behind and we had to wait a long time. We're really hoping this was not going to be a sign of what's to come. Fortunately everything from here on out went great, The service was phenomenal Even though the restaurant was packed. Our waitress made frequent visits to check on things and make sure we were all right. Ordered wine and it came almost immediately. The food was amazing. My wife ordered the pork chop and it probably the best Pork chop I've ever had. Yes she ordered it and I had to take a big portion of it. Very flavorful. I had the beef shank which was quite tasty however a little small for the price. However I would order it again, Of course we had to have desserts and we tried the bread pudding. When we ordered our waitress expressed how wonderful it is and we made a good choice. Boy was she right. Last night we didn't have reservations and decided to go to Chop. We arrived and to our surprise there were two bar seats open. We started with drinks and had dinner. I had the bang bang shrimp (I wasn't really hungry) and my boyfriend had the pork Chop. The bang bang shrimp was delicious and his pork chop was juicy and flavorful! We made reservations for 6:00 and arrived slightly before and were immediately seated. We waited 10 minutes and asked the hostess to send our server over. A server from another zone came and took our wine order. We waited an additional 10 minutes for a server to take our Brussel Sprout appetizer order. The Brussel sprouts arrived in a timely fashion but still, we had no wine. The Brussel sprouts were so saturated in oil we were unable to eat them and set them aside as our wine arrived. We had decided to order the lamb special but after continuing to wait without service we asked the hostess to have someone get our check. When a server arrived with our check we told her the Brussel sprouts were inedible and the service slow, she stated she was sorry. She didn't even offer to take the Brussel sprouts off the bill and it was obvious we did not eat them. We were told that the owner and friends were dining there that evening and that is why we did not get good service as the staff was busy attending their needs. I would hope the owner would be appalled at this! We were extremely disappointed as we loved the ambiance and were hoping for a nice dinner out. Save your money, go to DC Steakhouse for similar ambiance and way better food and service. I had been here so many times, as my office is down the street and I always take visiting colleagues to eat here. Imagine my mortification when I convinced my BF to take my here for a rare "quarantine exception" date 1/16, and it was horrible. I was so embarrassed I had recommended it. We were FOURTH in line behind other reservations that had to wait. We were told to wait outside, and it was freezing (fire pits did NOT help) and nobody came out to get us drinks as promised. When we were finally sat, it was 35 mins after our reservation time before we ordered appetizers. The delay was NOT due to limited seating either; there were no vacant tables or any social distancing in the seating. I told the waiter I was displeased and he never sent a manager over to talk to us. I ordered the 6oz filet and it was so dry, I couldn't eat it. The waiter never inquired why my steak was left basically untouched, although he brought me a box. I hope my dog enjoyed my $40 steak. The waiter gave us 15% off the bill, but that is not at all what I wanted. Chop has not only lost my business, but when business travel starts up again I will not be bringing people here. This was our first time here. It was my wife's treat to me for my birthday! She picked this place because I love a good steak house! So for starters this place gets four stars because the food is worth every penny..... The restaurant is clean. Bathrooms are clean. The entrance is very dark when you walk in with one hostess stand! The hostess is very nice and welcoming... The food like I said was on par with the price. I ordered the filet mignon with the chop fries.( they were awesome.) Also ordered a side of sautéed spinach. It was one of the specials. The meat was cooked perfectly and so were the sides! The appetizer was chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce. Awesome as well. My wife and I are foodies and love to eat out at nice places and try new ones we also know what good service is since we have been around the block a few times with the restaurant business! The four stars is totally for the food!!! The service could be so much better and so much more organized.. I had to wait for certain things and also had to grab the waiters attention just to get service witch I should not have had to do with the price of the food! It seems as though the staffing is just not there although the bar seemed over staffed to me. Perhaps this restaurant makes more money from the bar then it does the food side. Which is a shame because they have an amazing menu and all the items we ordered were perfectly executed! Well done to the kitchen staff!!!! The pecan torte was delicious! Said the wife ! Visited Chop Chandler on a Friday night for the first time with a Groupon. I am not understanding some of the complaints, I think some people are just not happy unless they are complaining. Food was fantastic, service was exceptional. We had a 7:00 reservation and arrived very early, the place was packed. So we headed to the bar for a cocktail and were quickly acknowledged, received our drinks in a very timely matter, specially considering how busy the bar was. We were seated earlier than our reservation was for and quickly received water and only minutes later our waiter arrived. He had several tables and from what I witnessed, he did a outstanding job with all the tables. We had the shrimps cocktail, the shrimp were huge and fresh. I had the salmon, it was perfectly seasoned and cook. My husband had the pork chop, it had to of been 3 inches thick and perfectly ch-arched, cooked all he way through, moist and delicious.
