We have dined at Chop Chandler many times over the years and always enjoyed the food a great deal. Last night we were celebrating a special birthday and the experience was a BIG disappointment. The steaks and pork chop were grossly over-charred on the outside (burnt) while the insides were somewhat undercooked. The pork chop was very tough and lacked flavor. The baby back ribs were way over sauced, with the sauce slapped on after cooking. Our previous experience with all of these dishes far exceeded last nights dinner. I appreciate that a restaurant will occasionally change up the menu, but they left some of the best items off (short ribs for one) and very poorly executed the items they had. The server was nice, but failed to check back after the food was served so we did not get to order the wine we wanted with dinner. The prices are very high (I.e. $50 for a pork tenderloin special), and certainly not worth paying considering the very disappointing quality of the cooking. The restaurant has always been busy any night of the week we visited, but it was understandably slow last night. I doubt we'll be visiting Chop Chandler again. read more

We tried a bit of everything. Hey the fried shrimp on the appetizer menu though wow those were good. Made a reservation and when we arrived we were immediately sat! Started off with the bang bang shrimp and the bread service. Half the table had drinks and my mom and I ordered ice tea which happened to be peach tea which is my fav! My hubby ordered the cocktail in the photos which was called Float your Boat- was whiskey with Cab on top! He said it was one of the best cocktails he's ever had. For entrees between the group we ordered: the Ribeye (side salad), center cut filet (Brussel sprouts), Sea-bass, & lastly the PorkChop. The pork chop was the most "photogenic" and had great flavor- it was also HUGE. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the Sea- Bass was amazing as well (served on top of gnocchi) My only complaint would have been that the Brussels I ordered as a side could have been cooked a little more as they were a bit hard- BUT the flavor was some of the best I've had? I cannot fail to mention our AMAZING server, Mike. He was AWESOME. He gave us amazing recommendations (which none disappointed us) he was on top of all of his tables in the best way and was had the best personality. Would 10000000% return! read more

Well, three stikes and you're out! My husband and I ate here several years ago for our 2nd anniversary and we were disappointed. Then, I met my best friend and her husband for a birthday dinner about 3 weeks ago it was was just okay. Tonight, my husband and I went there for date night and it was subpar! To begin with the lighting in there is way too dark! You can't even see your food or the menu! As far as the food, the calamari was chewy and lukewarm, my husband's beer was flat and the burgers were just okay! Came here for our wedding anniversary dinner and it was amazing! We had the bang bang shrimp and ahi tuna tostada as appetizers then as entrees we had the catch of the day, and waygu hanger steak with Mac and cheese and duck fat fries and ended with the toffee cake dessert. Loved this place! You walk in this establishment and it is dark and cozy, just like you imagine a steakhouse. There are two TVs playing sports. There is a nice groovy music station playing for a great vide. We had a reservation, so no wait for us. We were seated in a booth that was nice in size, no sqooshiness here. The environment was nice, not too loud. We had the pleasure of having Matthew as a server. He was such a pleasure. He had such a great personality and was on the spot for all that we needed. I ordered the filet at a medium temperature and it was perfect. I also added the peppercorn sauce and brussel sprouts. All three items were amazing! Dont let me forget the moscato wine by Twisted, such a great choice. I'm just here for the weekend, but when I come back to the area I will be back! read more

Really disappointing meals and way overpriced for the quality of food. Appetizers were not great, calamari was tough and flavorless and the French onion soup had a very strong Worcestershire flavor. Our steaks were so undercooked we had to send them back, which I almost never do. But my son's was especially raw. My food came back lukewarm, even the potato. And my son's steak was almost well done and again not a lot of flavor, especially for what you expect from a ribeye. This was a birthday dinner for my son, on his birthday. It is so disappointing because the ambiance was good and I really wanted it to be a good experience. It wasn't busy for dinner, it was a Tuesday night. Plenty of people were there for happy hour it seemed but the dinner crowd was very light. Spend a lot of money for 2 people to have a terrible dinner. VERY disappointing. I was so disappointed in this place they seem to be a fine dining restaurant and charge that way but to me it is just a fancy bar so my brother and I got there at 8 there was noone at the hottest seat us had to ask the bartender she was just seat anywhere then told us kitchen closes at 830 even though they close at 9 for what they are kitchen should be open till close the server came over told 1st thing out was kitchen closes inn30 min it was very over putting and rushed we orded the smoked cheese and pretzel tasted like microwave bread and no smoke to the cheese also got the steak it was kinda tough orded it med rare it came med well told the server he said the kitchen was closed but he could give a discount on the steak just very disappointed all round read more

Family Dinner for our Anniversary fell on a weeknight so we decided to take advantage of the location (close to us) to accommodate the family of 4. We've dined here before & enjoyed the experience so we came in with certain expectations. As usual, the atmosphere is nice and the staff awareness was pretty good. The 2.5-star rating reflects the food which unfortunately didn't match up to our previous experience. We came during Arizona Restaurant Week but decided to go venture away from the options and go with some standard choices. To sum up, all the items we ordered didn't feel freshly prepared. The plates came out hot, but the food wasn't when it should have been and the flavors seemed flat. For Appetizers, we ordered the Crab Cakes & Calimari. They came out quick but seemed very bland without the addition of the lemon & aioli sauce. The Crab Cakes (2) was served over a bed of cabbage I believe but when I cut it up and took my first bit, it was lukewarm. It smelled more on the fishy side. That's when I added the fresh lemon & used the Calimari sauce. Same for the calamari, it seemed more like it was flash fried (from earlier) to heat it up. For the entrees, we order the Chimichurri flat iron steak which came with broccoli & potatoes and we ordered another side (asparagus). The steak was cooked as expected, but everything on the plate was mildly hot. I had the Ribeye steak with a side of chimichurri sauce and the Mac & Cheese bake. The steak was cooked the way I wanted but was also not "hot off the grill"while the mac and cheese bake seemed like it was hot to touch but once you got into it, barely lukewarm. The kids had the ribs & mac & cheese with their own sides along with some Apple Cider (nice change up) as beverages. We were thinking a few ribs, but it was more like a half of slap and it too was dry and not hot. For dessert, the oreo ice cream and the lava cake. I was expecting the lava cake to also come out hot and ready, instead, it was just warm. The cake & sauce didn't blow me away with flavor. We left feeling disappointed to some extent but didn't let the dinner overshadow what was being celebrated. In the past when using Open Table when you mentioned that it's a special occasion, you don't expect them to do anything, but it's a nice when they do or when you're greeted. The overall experience (esp the food) just didn't feel inviting or in anyway personal as we hoped and given the cost, you would expect much better. read more

Food is consistently delicious. Be sure to let them know how chopped you like your kale. Drinks and cookies are tip-top, love them. The restaurant is typically nice and clean with very friendly servers. My only beef is the cost, a wrap, drink chips n cookie + tip nears $40. Pretty expense for lunch. read more

It is my wife and I 26th Anniversary. I was given the task to find an appropriate restaurant with the appropriate ambiance. I am glad I picked CHoP. The candlelight set the right mood. Matt our server was excellent! Very personable and down to Earth. We ordered a couple drinks and a very large piece of beef ribeye for $132 and shared it with my most precious date. We both ate till we were full, and still had enough to take home to share with our sons, who loved it as well. They brought us a special anniversary dessert that was decadent. Overall I am very happy. For those cost conscience, our bill was $248 with tax tip and drinks. read more
