Took away a star after my 2nd visit. Our party ordered the ahi tuna as one of our appetizers and the slices were very small for the price tag. I actually felt like all the appetizers were small for the prices but it was good. The biggest reason for me taking away a star is because after I left a gift bag that also contained a gift card was never returned. I made the mistake of forgetting it, which is totally my fault. I called the next day, someone took my information and I never received a call back. To me it just shows, when you leave their establishment they could care less of taking care of their customers. It is my wife and I 26th Anniversary. I was given the task to find an appropriate restaurant with the appropriate ambiance. I am glad I picked CHoP. The candlelight set the right mood. Matt our server was excellent! Very personable and down to Earth. We ordered a couple drinks and a very large piece of beef ribeye for $132 and shared it with my most precious date. We both ate till we were full, and still had enough to take home to share with our sons, who loved it as well. They brought us a special anniversary dessert that was decadent. One of the best meals we have had...excellent warm attentive service...The Caesar salad was perfect (big enough or 2 or 3 people), the ribeye and prime rib were so well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I just wanted to let everyone know that I ate here for Thanksgiving. I was done eating about 230 and by 4:30 I was in the beginning of watching Moana 2 when I started feeling sick and vomited multiple times. My meal consisted of raw oysters, the fillet and Lobster tail along with oysters Rockefeller and bang bang shrimp for the appetizer. After getting out all the food I ate by 8 o'clock I feel so much better. Chop is always consistent with food and service. Tonight we had the pleasure of having Mike as our server on the patio. It was a bit cold so we asked him to turn on a heater so he did. Then the lady behind us also became cold so he moved ours to her and got us one of our own. He tried and tried to turn it on but it would not budge. This gem of a server probably spent a good 10 minutes trying to get this thing to work. He never gave up. So much so that he rolled the dud out of the way and brought us a different one. He was not going to give up so easily and he had a great attitude about it. He had a wonderful personality and even put up with my sarcasm along with my husband. He was easy to talk to and made sure we were happy. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his job. He's a keeper. We will definitely be coming back again. Amazing food, amazing company. Came here for a one year anniversary and we left incredibly happy with our choice. The atmosphere is great and feels sophisticated, while the wait staff was very helpful and made GREAT suggestions (always go with their suggestions). We got the braised short ribs and the filet with a side of mashed potatoes (pictured). We also got two different Pinot Noir's and the toffee bread pudding for dessert - all were suggested by our waiter and none of them regretted. One of my favorites for a nice dinner! Chop Chandler feels more like dining than eating, while somehow managing to feel Like the neighborhood favorite. A tough balance! Ok back again and updating to a 5. Service was outstanding again. Food was even better than last time. Had the Brussels as a shared side. I opted for a burger and a side house salad. The salad was big enough to be a meal by itself and filled with all sorts of goodies. Burger had a nice smoky flavor and was cooked perfectly. Hubby had the roasted chicken and a side Caesar salad which also could be an entire meal. I've added and egg to the salad and loved every bite. His chicken was also excellent and had a nice crisp to it plus a tasty sauce. I just can't get over the vibe in here. Some folks all dressed up, we were dressed down but the service is the same. Lord of regulars and the table next to us sat down and within like a minute (literally!) a drink was sat down and the guy said "that was quick" to which the waiter replied "yeah the bartender saw you come in so started your usual right away" I thought that was dope. I am a long time customer. I used to love this place until today. While eating with my wife and daughter a COCKROACH started crawling on our table! We were disgusted and quickly notified staff. The manager came and saw the COCKROACH still hanging out on our table. We quickly asked for the bill and left. On the way to the table, he asked if it was for drinks and when we said burger and wine night, he told us that was Monday only. Not great unfortunately. My family and I dinned last night and ordered from the restaurant week menu. My husband had to ask for bread; the little rolls were not warmed so that was the first indication of possibly not a great meal The wedge salad and shrimp cocktail were good although my husband said one of his shrimp was a bit frozen still . My son had the salmon that he liked but has had better. The new potatoes accompanying the salmon were ver sparse - asparagus was ok , thicker than I prefer and a bit salty. The 3 of us had the filet mignon. The piece my son and I had were both ok- cooked like we asked- medium rare but very very salty! Nothing special about the seasoning taste wise either . I asked for bernaise hoping to tone down the salt but I have no idea what I got . It was creamy and fluffy like bernaise but tasted odd - I ate some of it with steak but again not a fan. We had the same asparagus. Here's the problem that would stop Me from dinning there again . The waitress( not the one who took our order) came out with 2 salmon and 2 filets which was not accurate. I get it mistakes happen but my husband is now sitting there with no dinner for 15 min while the 3 of us eat. The waitress never apologized Then he cuts into the filet an it's the end piece - I won't describe it but it simply was not good. Another waiter stopped by to fill our water so my husband showed it to him - he kindly said oh I'm so sorry , I will get you another one. The 2nd was much better however the manager never came over to acknowledge a problem ! In our experience, the manager would have come over to apologize after the first mix up and definitely would have given a free desert or comped the meal! Oh almost forgot about the lousy mashed potatoes- tasted grainy and little flavor ( not worth $15) . The desert was bread pudding so no other choice - tasty just very sweet so I asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.(for $3, worth it but given the issue with the meal , I was aggravated) Sorry Chop but as I write this and reflect on the price paid ($79 pp with tax tip one glass of wine and a side) we will not be coming back read more

Well, that was not what we expected. First we arrived for dinner and were promptly seated. The atmosphere is very nice and the drinks are very good snd creative. After that.... Things that we were disappointed at: 1) We arrived during Happy Hour. Asked for a Happy Hour menu 3 times but never received one. "They are floating around here, but I can't find one right now"? 2) Ordered Calamari appetizer . Deep fried, lacked flavor and was warm at best, not hot like it should be. 3) Ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms special appetizer. Once again Luke warm at best. The mushrooms were not fully cooked and hard, not good. 4) Wife ordered salmon and asked fir it to be clean with no butter. Well, of course it came covered in butter. The Asparagus that came with it was also covered in butter. 5) I ordered the pork chop. Glaze was good however it was over cooked and very difficult to cut it was a big disappointment. The serving size was huge and could have been a great dish if cooked properly. 6) Two of us ordered baked potatoes. Both were under cooked. We sent one back and asked them to cook further. They proudly brought us a new one, which was equally undercooked. While we were eating the table next to us complained about the same thing. 7) the Mac & Cheese, is supposed to be a great item. Well I guess if you like boxed Mac & Cheese you would be correct, was absolutely horrible. 8) For desert we had the lava cake and ice cream. Clearly the lava cake was not made in-house. A lot of money for a microwaved dish. On the bright side, the Brussels sprouts were fantastic, however I don't need to spend $500 for drinks and Brussels Sprouts. All in all, highly overrated! OK, so this review is a mixed one. We arrived and wanted to sit outside, it's so beautiful out. We were told we couldn't because the outside was reserved for a private party. OK, understood but upon leaving it seemed there was no party and just couples eating at individual tables, so not sure. As far as social distancing at this place...there was none. It ended up getting so crowded, every table being used, the people were packed at the bar, so much so that you would have no idea that there was any pandemic going on. Almost like a Friday night during the good ol days. Moving along...we were there for happy hour and ordered a wine for $6 and a hh cocktail for $10 (price will matter in a little bit). We also ordered the hh brussel sprouts and the smoked salmon appetizer for $8 (regular price is $16 for this and the regular portion is only on a larger plate with more bread and capers but NOT a larger size of salmon, just FYI). So, we finished and our waiter asked if we wanted anything else and we ordered two more drinks ($16) and another salmon ($8). We were also going to order another 2 salmons to go for each of our husbands. Our drinks come and about 5/10 min later a large plate of salmon comes. Our waiter says to us, so sorry but I was slow entering the order and missed the hh price for the salmon by 2 minutes. There is nothing I can do about the price once the re changes. I can leave it here for the full price or take it away. So, we said you can take it and you can also have our drinks since the only reason we ordered them was because we were going to be getting more food. Now, this was not our fault as the customer that the waiter missed the hh price by 2 minutes or any minutes and most places also let you know....hey, HH is about to end, want to get anything else in before the time? Nope, never said a word. So he takes the $8 salmon (or $16 now) away and comes back with our bill. He stated to us, I went ahead and took the last salmon off but also took off the last two drinks and you can stay and enjoy them or you don't have to drink them but they are on me. So, if my math is correct... instead of just taking the $8 off our salmon and giving it to us for the hh price because of his mistake he decided to take away $16 for booze. I don't know but common sense would have told me as a waiter to take the $8 and keep the $16 but whatever. Not only that but they lost out on us buying two additional purchases. Lastly, they sneak in the charge on here without even telling you and as far as I can find it has something to do with the price of things increasing. If this is the case just add on a few cents to each item and call it a day because this just makes me angry. I gave it more stars than I had wanted because the items we did get were good. read more

We made an early reservation after a Valentine's Day hike walked right in and were sat immediately. Our server Michael was personable, funny and very helpful with recommending his favorites. Which were without question amazing! The 36 oz tomahawk was the best ever and the deserts (bread pudding and a pecan cobbler creation) was mouth watering. I had purchased a Groupon awhile ago and we were very excited to try them. The menu online looks fantastic, however it was not fantastic. I don't think the price and quality of food match. We ordered the Downtown Fries for an appetizer and they were very good. Both of our drinks were also very good. When it came to the entree's and sides the quality wasn't really there. I ordered the ribs, they are $24 and come with a side. My friend tried one before I did and let me know they were cold. I'm not talking room temperature, maybe had to sit under a warmer while waiting for the entree, I'm saying they were cold. I sent them back, they came out maybe 5 minutes later, they were still cool too the touch but I was starving so I said it was fine. The weird part is it was only half the rack, half was warm and the other half was cold. The flavor was good but it was difficult to eat because they were cold. The waitress did apologize and the runner who brought them back out apologized for them being cold. My friend had the handcut ribeye and he said it was very good and he enjoyed it. I tried his macaroni and cheese, it had a nice flavor but to me the noodles were very over cooked. My only other thing was the fact that it is extremely dark in the restaurant but then there are the front doors and a side door with people coming and going. It's extremely bright when they are opened and it's very distracting, not to mention that once you leave the restaurant if it's still daylight it is extremely difficult for your eyes to adjust to the brightness of the sun. For the price of the food we will probably going somewhere else in the future. For $24 I can get ribs pretty much everywhere and I bet they would be warm. read more

We made a reservation at chop for my husband's birthday. It was the perfect spot. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! The ambiance was really relaxing- its elegant but not too fancy. We got the bang bang shrimp because of the reviews and it did not disappoint. Though it can be a bit pricier, I definitely felt it's justified by the quality. The quality of our main courses was very high, in my opinion. At first we were hesitant in dining here due to our prior experience of the steaks being overlooked and on the saltier side(two to three years ago). We gave it go and were pleasantly surprised with the taste and service this time around. Food - Fried Zuccini, Downtown field greens, garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, cauliflower gratin, broccoli , and Boneless Maui Rib Rye. The highlights of the meal was the fried zuccini, garlic mashed potatoes, and the Maui rib eye steak. We loved that the zuccinis were sliced in chips versus spears and the cucumber ranch was a nice touch. The marinade on the steak was delicious and the meat was tender. On par with Houston's/Hillstone's Hawaiian rib eye. Drinks - Blackberry Smash - if you like bourbons, this is a fabulous cocktail for you. Service - Our server Jess was attentive, informative, friendly, and did not hover. This will become our new local favorite steakhouse. read more

I took my wife out on Friday as she had to work on Valentine's Day. This was our first time at Chop. The décor and ambiance was very nice. We both had a glass of house wine (pinot and chardonnay) and the selection was great. We had a bread plate on the table but no bread was brought. My wife had a good Caesar salad and I had the worst French onion soup I have ever had. Sweet rather than slightly salty, no depth of flavor from wine. Not much better than an onion soup mix. My steak was perfect; nice char and cooked perfect. My wife's prime rib was tasty, but had obviously been under a heat lamp. The baked potatoes were barely done (not fluffy) and, again, had been waiting under heat lamps. All in all it was almost as good as a bad night at Texas Roadhouse. A nice idea but amateur chefs. I think the question of the evening was...Why haven't we ever been here before? Scotty and I loved our Valentine's Day (evening) experience at Chop Chandler. The cocktails were outstanding and different. The starters were delicious. The meat entrees were cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with a bottle of wine. Best of all, our service experience was top of the line. Michael was our server and he was a complete delight. Happy, funny and very attentive. He was the best. It's a beautiful restaurant with romantic ambiance. Chop also has a beautiful bar area. It's a perfect spot for date night or a hang out with friends. A definite recommend. read more
