Have been 2x and the most recent I lingered over dinner, dessert and coffee for 2 1/2 hours. It was a Monday night so not a lot of people felt like we were the only ones there even though that was not the case. We went for lunch for the first time today. It was outstanding! I had a Chophouse burger with the tots. The burger was huge with good quality meat. Loved the seasoned tots. My friend had the brisket grilled cheese and tots. The sandwich was so good. They smoke the meat in house. It was soaked in "mop" that was delicious. She couldn't finish half because it was so big, so we had a third meal to take home. It was the best, and least expensive lunch we've had in a while. Our server Sherry was so nice! Need to just start by saying, I don't understand why this place would get anything less than 4 stars. I've read a few that were less and seems to be a little fishy, so listen to my review people. Great décor, genuinely happy employee's and amazing food. It makes you feel like you are at an upscale dining venue in Manhattan or Boston, without being stuffy. It's casual enough to wear jeans, but styled enough where you could certainly dress up and not feel silly. The service was quick and on-point. Drinks from the bar were perfectly made and strong. Food choice is abundant and there are some great options. James and B are the two best guys there. Amazing servers and will accommodate you with whatever your needs are. I really enjoy this place. I was honored to meet Chris, MP, who was extremely friendly and personable. Amazing experience and cannot wait to go back! Great food! Totally remodeled the old Casey's restaurant. The owner Charlie Sammaras is the former owner of Charlie O's . He has done an incredible job with his beautiful restaurant. One of the best places in Rhode Island! The food and service is unbelievable! The service is unmatched!! Very polite, courteous, and helpful. The special drinks are also very creative and clever! I would highly recommend this for a date night... Or any night. Two other things that I was impressed by: the owner stopped over to say hello (in between helping his servers) and the chef came out to talk to us. While their menu is very clear what is gluten free and what isn't, we had a few questions. The head chef came over and described exactly how each thing was cooked and what they could do to help my (extremely gluten free) boyfriend. Hello All, Please let me start by saying that throughout my career I have had the pleasure of visiting some of the finest Steak Houses and restaurants across this wonderful Nation of ours and have very high expectations when it comes to ambiance, food and service. I joined to great friends at the Chophouse Grille Sunday evening and from the moment we entered this new establishment, I knew the experience was going to be fantastic! The staff at CHG exceeded all my expectations!! The menu is very diverse from low $$ to $$$ higher end selections, and very reasonable priced across the board. We stated with the Bacon appetizer, which is an absolute must! we went onto salads and then of course onto steaks. Our server, Amanda was very professional, classy, and attentive throughout our meal, she even coaxed us into three deserts for the table; Chocolate Layer Cake, Chocolate Bread Pudding, and Creme Brulee which was top 3 I have tasted nationwide. We visited this restaurant last night following after leaving a local playhouse. Since we live about 60 miles away from the area, we really don't know that area. At intermission we got to talking with another couple who recommended the Chop House. When they also mentioned it was easy on-easy off highway access on our way home we thought we'd give it a go. We entered through the bar area and we're politely directed down a long-ish flight of stairs to the main dining area. It was very nicely decorated with a modern upscale vibe and all aromas coming from the kitchen smelled wonderful. My hubby enjoys Guinness on tap when we go out and this alone added "points". The waitstaff were ALL very young, energetic, friendly and professional. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was delicious and just the right amount. Although we arrived before 630pm we didn't have to wait for a table at all and were seated immediately. Within a very short time however the room filled up quickly. As it was somewhat late for us to eat we ordered sandwiches. Both came with seasoned tater tots which were a little different but fun. I had sirloin tips with mushrooms and arugla on a kitten baguette, my hubby had mahi mahi with some field greens, also on a toasted baguette. Both were very filling and delicious. Oh yes the hot bread and cinnamon butter before the meal was fantastic as well. If you live in the area you have probably been there many times. If you are visiting the area we would highly recommend!!! The only reason we would probably not return is because of a long distance away from home. read more

Nice place. Excellent service but we did have a few issues I should mention. Flies buzzing us all throughout our meal. A special wine glass was brought out for the aqua panna we ordered and the glass smelled like fish. They replaced both. The French onion soup came out less than room temperature. They took it back and reheated it. The salad was good and clean the mahi mahi was fantastic and bolognese dish was reportedly good too. Lots of nice artwork of the area hanging inside and prices weren't terrible. read more

I was searching for a place to eat as a type 1 diabetic, I asked the waitress if she knew the carbs of some of the menu items, and was told to "wait just a minute", the chef came out and asked me what I liked to eat and prepared a dinner using swordfish and sauteed vegetables. We had been here before and enjoyed the choices on the gf menu but this time was not so successful . The food was delicious but unfortunately I had my usual unpleasant reaction to gluten after eating the chicken dish that I was assured had no gluten in it. We talked to the manager the next day . He said he would look into it and hoped we would return but not sure I want to risk it if there are safer places to eat. read more

This is our new favorite go-to restaurant! We tried this place a few times before, a couple times with its old name & a couple with new. We didn't realize until just recently that although the name remains, the owners, chef & staff are new as of the past few months. Amazing! James, server & bartender extraordinaire, was THE reason we used to be loyal customers of another establishment. We have never encountered service that even remotely compares to James. Before we have to ask, we have everything we need (& more!). We were honored to meet owners Chris & Charlie who were both cordial & sincere (1 of which ALSO came from our former favorite restaurant). The food, every single vourse, was delicious, creative, & beautiful. (& oh my goodness......risotto!) Also, the decor in here now reflects a classy, yet comfortable & updated look. We were going back and forth with trying this place tonight and am I glad we went here. The atmosphere is nice, not too loud. We had reservations and were seated right away. Started off with clams casino and the beet salad. The clams casino were absolutely perfect, they had a light dusting or bread crumbs which made the clams still succulent, the beet salad was very well dressed and fresh. I had the special surf and turf which was a filet with half a lobster that had stuffing on top which was hands down the best thing I've eaten all week. The filet was perfectly cooked, and the lobster was steamed and then charred a little which gave it a really nice smokey flavor. Even the stuffing which was very light on top was incredibly flavorful and I usually don't like any stuffing on my seafood. My wife ordered the lemon pepper fish which was good, but a tad bit bland. We finished the meal with the chocolate cake which was great. I will definitely be coming back, our server was great and all the food came out pretty quickly which was surprising as the place was absolutely packed. read more

Went out to Chophouse last weekend for date night, as a native to South County I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't been since it was Casey's and I was more "fun"(younger). The hostess was sweet and we were seated immediately upon arrival at 9pm, we sat at a high top table in the bar area. I was regretting that choice as almost immediately after sitting down a drunken tourist bumped into my chair 3 times before nearly sitting on my lap! I'm an easy going person and brushed it off as funny. She left shortly after and the rest of the evening was a dream. Okay, I'm from Pt Judith and any time Pt Judith Calamari is on a menu near or far- I have to try it out. Hands down this was the BEST Pt Judith Calamari my husband and I have ever had. That was an amazing surprise. For dinner I ordered the papardelle bolognese and my husband got a tuna steak dinner with asparagus and risotto. He cleaned his plate and I felt my portion was a good enough size to split in half, saved for a tasty lunch the next day. There was zero things wrong with our dinner and our waiter Ken was a charming and funny guy who took great care to check in with us throughout the dinner. The espresso martini was killer, made to perfection and definitely worth the $10 spent on it. I had a really enjoyable evening with my husband which I Credit to good company and of course the staff and chefs at Chophouse Grille. I highly recommend. read more

Place is really cute with a nice vibe. However, there's a but...I went on Valentine's Day and I've given it a couple days to sink in. I have worked as a server for the last decade and hate when people use this to vent but I'm hoping it's more or less constructive. the service was so so bad. Antonia was our server and she was pleasant but clearly uninterested in being at work. Our appetizers came out and we still hadn't ordered our meals or been asked if we had decided. Then she didn't check to see how we were enjoying until my boyfriend had finished the calamari (I didn't eat it because it was pretty rubbery) and I sat with melting ice under my un touched oysters because I was waiting for her to get me horse radish for it. She brought back the horseradish but still didn't take our order. A manager came over and refilled our drinks and cleared the oysters and we finally order entrees an hour after we were sat. Entrees came out but nobody ever checked on how we liked them and the manager had to ask a busser to clear our table. I get what it's like to be a server and you get weeded but she wasn't busy and 99% of the time she was standing 15 feet from our table gabbing with the other servers. She was pleasant but phony when she brought the check and I'm sure she could probably tell we were annoyed. Overall food was OK but not enough to overcome the lack of service. read more

We had the worst meal I have ever experienced. Slow and inefficient service paired with terrible food. All entrees were over cooked and lacked any flavor. To top it off , the waitstaff miscounted our bill three times and accused our party of not leaving enough. We were chased out into the parking lot. Essentially we were accused of "stealing" and we re-counted in front of the waitress / staff 3 separate times until she called the "manager" over and he counted correctly and said we were right. The bill was 720 and that was the biggest waste of money and not worth any of it. It truly seemed like they were trying to say we didn't leave enough money to steal from us! Shame on you! read more

ChopHouse Grille is an attractive restaurant with a great waitstaff. I must say that on the two visits I've made there, a person in my party felt ill afterwards. I had the scallops on my last visit and a couple of them tasted a little "off". That night I felt sick. Based on that, I would only go there for drinks at the bar. read more

1st time but have heard many good things. Calamari was very good. You have to do calamari right in RI!! Spinach salad was generous and a nice mixture of apples cheeses, etc. large enough for a dinner if that's your thing. 5 dinners - one burger that was good, chicken rib combo was tasty. Wellington was also interesting and delicious. I had one of 2 Mole ribeyes and I think that took it down a notch for me. Just my opinion by the steaks could have been thicker, maybe a quarter to third of an inch or so thicker. And the Mole was good, just too much of it (I know, who complains about too much mole...?). But I could have been happy with a third of the mole sauce I received. The steak was covered in it like a gravy and it was just too overwhelming of the steak itself. The other dinner agreed and scooped it off to the side. But other than that a very good experience. Waiter Chris did a great job. I expect to be back many times. read more

I often travel into this area and arrive late. A friend recommended this place but did not give me directions. On a stop to the local Shaws on the way back to the hotel I spotted it across the street and stopped in to check it out despite haven eaten. The atmosphere is an interesting mix of old school mariner, dark wood lodge, yet little bit hip wine place. Their wine list is mostly accessible. Several well known California's at typical prices. Plus a handful of imports that again, you'll recognize. Good news is you won't have to throw the dice on a vineyard or overpay for something you are comfortable with. The bartender was very professional but friendly. You could tell he didn't sit still very often. Detailed focused. I gave him a special order for a drink and he nailed it perfectly. Oh, he will give you sass so give it right back. Next time I am in town I plan on stopping in for dinner especially if I arrive late as they are open until midnight with a late night menu. The only suggestion would be the smell, at least at the bar, was umm, old. Not must or mildew, just not fresh. That said I still say, give it a try! read more

On November.12.2016 I purchased a gift card for $100.00 from this establishment for my Mother and Father for Christmas and on Saturday March.11.2017 at about 5:30 PM both my parents sat down for dinner there and when my parents finished their dinner they handed the server the gift card and stated "There is $100.00 on this card I will pay the remaining amount with my credit card". Moments later the server returned stating there was only $25.00 on the gift card (My American Express credit card I paid with said otherwise) Now at this point the manager is involved and asked for the receipt, understandable .. So my parents call me and I send a screen shot of my AMEX statement showing the date and time of the gift card purchase. HOWEVER when the manager checked on the gift card he stated it was purchased on a different date for $25.00, The manager proceeds to nicely call my parents liars but he will make the exception THIS TIME .. I am appalled by this for many reasons, clearly someone that works there pocketed the $100.00 by processing it as a TIP or keeping the $100.00 gift card for themselves and handed over a $25.00 gift card .. at this point none of this matters .. what matters is this is embarrassing and really enjoyed this restaurant and its sad I will no longer be going there because of the fact that I look like a liar telling someone i'm gifting them $100.00 when in fact said restaurant was trying to pocket my money. read more

The food was good, the bar and restaurant were beautiful and we had the best (male) bartender we have ever had at the Chophouse Grille. We got Fish & Chips and Chicken Marsala which were both good. Fish & Chips had a great batter on it. Chicken Marsala was a little too thick and didn't have much taste to it so I wouldn't get it again. We'd go back and try other dishes though. read more

We stopped in for a couple of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. We ordered two perfect Canadian Club manhattans up. They were passable, but with too much of a strong flavored bitters that overpowered the drink. Bartender needs to lighten up on this. Calamari was drenched in a spicy romoularde sauce. Ok for me who likes spicy, but not for my wife who doesn't. Would have been better served with the sauce on the side. Bread and flavored butter were excellent. We asked the bus boy what was in the butter. He didn't know and didn't offer to find out. I had to tell him that when asked a question he didn't know the answer to, he should say, "sorry, I don't know, but I will find out for you." Obviously, a little training is in order. Caesar salad was fine. Waitress was charming and efficient. Noise level in the restaurant is challenging. Big TV's over the bar. If you are looking for a romantic fine dining experience, this is not the place. read more
