    Romaine with Mexican Caesar dressing
    Fangfei L.

I'm about equi-distant between this Chopt and the one on 52nd. While I typically prefer the 52nd location, all the good things I've written about the other Chopt location still stand here. To sum it up, the service is friendly and quick and the Mexican Caesar dressing is amazing. However, I've noticed that this location is a bit more crowded and the building itself is smaller. I felt a bit claustrophobic trying to get salad the other day where the line wrapped all the way to in front of the service stations. Maybe it would be better if the seating tables were pushed against the wall (like bar seating) to give people more space to stand.

The clump of blue cheese after I had taken a bite out of it

I've never left a review on a restaurant before, but I felt like I had to for Chopt. My company has placed two group orders in the past month and both times my salad has been horrible. I ordered the Summer Seasonal Salad and it was terrible for many reasons. 1. Very little chicken 2. All of the blue cheese in the salad was in a big clump so there were a few bites that were almost entirely blue cheese, at one point I resorted to just pulling the whole clump out the salad and throwing it away. It made the salad inedible. 3. Absolutely drenched in dressing and salad was not fresh. This could have something to do with it being in a group order, but if that's the case I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. What they should do is pack the dressing separately and let the customer put it on themselves. Imo Sweetgreen is 100x better.

    Palm Beach salad

I only like one salad from them: the palm beach with shrimp. I ordered same salad 3 times. First time I was overcharged I paid a whopping $16.31 total with tax, second time $15.23. Today they tried to overcharge me again. The cashier had the nerve to claim prices had gone up and was different from what was posted. When I refused to pay the supervisor came out to fix it and I was charged $15.78! This was the last time I'll dine here, plenty of other salad places that don't rip off their customers like Just Salad and Chop & Go which is similar to Chopt but with better prices.

Who doesn't love a nice faux-healthy salad from Chopt? Great portion sizes, lots of proteins, and a high degree of customization.

Have been eating out the whole weekend hence decided to give a try on something simple and fresh; chop't popped up my mind since I always came to this area for either roast kitchen or cosi. A long line at noon so I will remember to come by earlier next time. There are three sections inside the place to split up the line - smart move! As a first timer, I went with their palm beach with shrimp. Less than 300 calories to nail down my lunch! I substituted the balsamic vinaigrette sauce to chipotle which was supposed to be a bit spicier and I liked it a lot. I guess it's time for me to update my FB status to be - eating like a rabbit!

This was my fave salad spot but lately, I've noticed in a matter of weeks getting less and less protein and dressing. I won't be returning.

The bowls are pretty substantive and they have lighter starters/sides too for those who just want to dabble. You can choose one of their signature bowls (the Tibetan Mama, with its satisfying curry base, comes highly recommended), or build your own from a lineup of bases, sauces, toppings, dressings and garnishes. The food tastes fresh and clean, and I include this place in my rotation of healthy quick salad/bowl/vegetarian meal options in the neighborhood. I love that they have raw vegan treats, an increasingly rare find since several of my favorite raw vegan spots in the city closed down over the years. I'll admit I was first lured in by the antiquey aesthetic and the colorful vintage florals, but the food and environment are both very pleasurable.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

Beyond Sushi was in Midtown near where I was staying, so I ended up coming here---on Valentine's Day, which happened to be a mistake! Since I didn't have a reservation, the lady who checked me in told me I had to find a seat at the bar. Her attitude was not the best, as when I looked over the menu and made a decision on what I wanted to get, she dismissed me when I waved her over, saying she is not the person taking orders. Um, okay? Then who is? One guy at the bar was nicer, and was able to take my order. I started off with a hot tea since NYC was cold in February, and then decided to have as much as I could of two dishes---the "chicken" yakitori skewers and the Korean BBQ skillet. The skewers came in a set of two, with a white mayo-like sauce drizzle and pickled cucumber on the side. Super delectable, though very filling because of the protein! The skillet was made with classic Chunk Foods protein, the go-to plant-based option for all the meat dishes at City Roots restaurants as far as I know. This was incredibly filling, but the sauce and the texture were all around delicious as well. I could NOT bother to finish the brussels sprouts the skillet came with---way too much to stomach, and I was going to focus on the "meats" since I can always have brussels any other time! The bill by the end of it was PRICEY. That's why I only go to one of these restaurants as a special treat when I visit NYC. Watch out if you order hot tea...$13!! I guess that's the NYC way, but still!
