Meh. I've experienced better. Yup, the boilerplate 2 star description pretty much sums it up. I'm tempted to give Chop't JUST 1 star for the additional hurt of $10+ when I can get a superior salad for around $6 most places, BUT, fact of the matter is, it's not so terrible I'd never eat there again, it's just a bad combo of too expensive and not that impressive. I have a friend who LOVES Chop't, can't stop raving about it. I saw the prices and ingredients, and was pretty unimpressed, but decided to give it a try today when we were about 100yds. from this location for work. Thankfully, we were eating lunch around 2:45pm, so no line-out-the-door like other reviewers have reported. I found that despite what the promo materials say, - the product didn't seem that fresh (I had brown, rotting lettuce in my salad, the chicken tasted lower-quality than I'm used to, and the bacon seemed overcooked and nearly-flavorless.) - conditions were not that sanitary (cleaning of the boards was iffy, at best; choppings were being mixed in with each other in their mini-hotel pans, etc) - the workers were not so attentive (I got more than enough caesar dressing for two salads when I'd asked for bleu cheese; there was some sort of strange cheese at the bottom of my salad that should not have been, and there were several LARGE un-chopt chunks in my salad) The salad itself wasn't THAT big - it comes in a larger size plastic bowl, but there are several inches of nothingness at the top. I know I declined the flatbread, but It certainly wasn't big enough to fill that space. It ends up being a meal + snack salad, definitely not a two-meal salad. I can get the same cobb salad right by my office downtown for $6 (including a free drink and EXcluding iceberg - bleh!), instead of $10.29. For that kind of money, I expect grass-fed and/or organic meats (but the organic veggies is a nice thought/bonus) Additionally, the cashier refused to give me a reciept. (WTF?) Update - since I wrote the original review, one of the owners kindly wrote me and offered me some free Chopt cards to make up for my less than stellar experience. I had a great experience with those cards (I tend to find Chop't more enjoyable when you can order whatever you want without thinking about the extra money that topping is going to cost you). I was feeling extra giddy when, even though the card only specified that I get a free salad, the manager insisted that I pay for nothing (including my Diet Dr. Pepper) when I was clearly prepared to pay extra -- had my credit card out and everything.... ....Then my boss ordered from here three times this week, and 2 out of 3 times they forgot to add walnuts to her salad. And one time, it took 50 minutes to deliver (we're a block away; it normally takes 20 max). I'm upgrading to 4 stars because I was impressed with the proactivity of the owner and the generosity of the managers with the (unasked for) free drink. But I'd still rather go in person than get something delivered, at least that way I can watch what's being put (or not put) into my salad. read more

As many of you know, I love Chop't. I think that its a super innovative company, and its more than "Just Salad" (haha, get it?). After consistently getting salad, I decided to switch it up with a grain bowl. I got the 7 Summits without cheese, making it totally vegan! To be honest, it was a great combo, especially with some lemon juice - it was just really refreshing and honestly full of awesome superfoods. Quinoa, kale, and sweet potato make a great combination and you don't really end up feeling too heavy after, but completely satisfied and ready to get on with your day. I think that Chop't really is awesome in that they give you pre-designed salads that they know most people would generally enjoy. You can also alter it to your liking, which is even better and very well suited for people on different diets, since they have so many toppings and salad dressings, there is one for everybody. As for this location, the line around 1PM wasn't too bad. Obviously, you'd have to expect the usual lunch rush, but I probably only waited 10 minutes before being served which wasn't too bad. read more

Chop't really hasn't disappointed me, except for the fact that they haven't reached the west coast yet. It's my go to place for irresponsible salads. You know, salads that are huge and full of really really tasty toppings that may or may not be good for you (think fried onions, crispy chicken, chunks of pepperjack cheese, etc.). These salads take me over an hour to eat, but I LOVE all of the topping options. I love the seasonal choppings, salad suggestions and dressings. YUM. A few weeks ago I started a new job uptown and consequently tried this Chopt. Previously, I used to lunch at the location near Union Square, which was closer to my old office. As expected, at about 1:30 pm the line was out the door. It took about 20 minutes, for me to reach the counter. My usual favorite salad was the Mexican Ceasar with the Spa Tex Mex dressing, so I ordered it. To be completely honest, the ingredients just weren't as fresh and the service was just not as good as at the Union Square location. The topping scoops also seemed a little skimpy. Definitely not a horrible experience, but not as great as I was expecting. I'll probably go back though (it was still one of the best lunch salads i grabbed in the neighborhood). read more

But like everyone else has mentioned, it's expensive! it's $1.50 to get some tofu chucked in the mix (more for chicken etc).... I find that a bit outrageous but i guess it's midtown. Had to chime in... this place is a mixed bag of tricks. Here's the lowdown: The line is out the door, down the block and blocking the door to Cosi (how obnoxious!) one star for popularity and negative one star for the 20 min wait (although it does move quickly its still 15-20 min). The salad guys kind of rush you to order (I hate this and I am a quick person)... they do not clean the mats before they chop the next salad and you do end up with other ingredients in your salad. One star for creativity and fun additions, negative one star for getting something you like and the gross factor of it all. The salad comes expertly chopped and you pay off to the side thus speeding the process. Plus one star. Negative one star for the $12.65 you just charged me! This is the worst Chop't! I'm a busy girl but love my salads, so I always order on Seamless for pick-up so I don't have to wait in line and can scurry back to the office. I've been doing this for a year at the Flatiron location and they always had my salad waiting right at the register with a smile. However, it's a different story at this location. I came to pick up my salad 15 minutes after it was supposed to be ready, and they couldn't find it anywhere. I was so confused - where did it go? They had no record of my order, so I had to show them the Seamless receipt on my phone. An employee, who I'm assuming was the manager, said they would be right out in 10 minutes with my salad. He finally admitted that the system crashed - very disturbing. It would have been nice of them to apologize and offer me a complimentary beverage or something, but no such luck. In summation: This place tastes the same as other locations and I'll still come here for lunch since I have a severe addiction to the Mexican Goddess dressing (I'm convinced it has crack in it), but the customer service leaves much to be desired. I love the Harvest Cobb salad wrap here but the lines to this place are usually so long it makes me want to go somewhere else. I know the line moves pretty quickly but still, when they wrap around inside and still go outside and down the block, that's a problem. They didn't even ask if i wanted salt / pepper. And my salad tasted nasty! Chop't customer service is so awesome. They sent me a free lunch coupon after I complained about the small portion at a different location. I immediately went here to satisfy my Chop't craving. I got myself a Smoky Santa Cruz. Great salad!!!! The staff here is super friendly and they give a good portion size. I prefer this location to others. As I slowly make my way to every Chop't location, my lunchtime visit to this location was not challenging despite the line that went out the door. While it was the height of the lunch rush, everyone and everything was as expected. There were even seats available ( most patrons were getting lunch to go ). The first time i went to Chop't i was quite impressed with the selection. I mean where else can you find arugula in midtown east? Over time there service has become increasingly sloppy. I'm not sure if it's the long lines out the door or the staff just couldn't care less about how the finish salad looks or taste. I've notice that the newer guys will normally wipe down the chopping board and prepare your salad carefully and attentively. Over time they just throw stuff around and half of the time they won't even wipe the excess water from the chopping board. Oneday i simply had to tell him politely "I can't pay for that"....there was way tooooo much water and everything else on that chopping board. He politely made me another salad and i got it and left. I would say if the people take the time to make a salad properly and wipe down after making each salad, i would advise it because they're quite tastey. Worst salad we ever had. Ordered one of their basic salads but was missing ingredients. Unhelpful response when we complained.

I ordered a Kraft salad with spinach, arugula, egg whites, chickpeas, dried cranberries, apple slices , blue cheese crumbles, grape tomatoes ​ bacon. I got a bowl full of spinach arugula a tiny pinch of blue cheese,2 chickpeas, three tiny grape tomatoes, no egg whites at all, a few dried cranberries and basically nothing else. I also ordered bread on the side. The salad I received was horrible . The spinach was old and wilted the arugula was fresh but most of the other ingredients I asked for we're not on there and if they were it was only a tiny pinch and very stingy with the ingredients. The apples that I asked for on my salad turned out to be two little pieces of Apple that was not even as big as a shirt button. They charged a minimum of $0.79 for every one of the ingredients that they failed to include on my salad . Worst salad ever . I will not order from them again. They were very stingy and overpriced and they didn't even include the bread. They charge you for everything and include nothing. I paid $31 for salad and bread that was worth about three and a half dollars. I could have got a better salad at a grocery store pre-packaged. Very disappointed in this restaurant. Staff just going through the motions today. Only had 1 chop station opened at 2:30 pm yet 6 people behind the counter. Not what it use to be

I have a free company drop off program with this Chopt location, though I still pay tip. The purpose of this program is to have the salad conveniently delivered to the basement of our building to save time at work. On at least 5 occasions, I waited 15 minutes past the drop off time for my salad. Today I waited 35 minutes. That is unacceptable, as the point of this program is to save time and I wouldn't spend 35 minutes if I walked elsewhere to grab lunch. I called the restaurant and was given no help no guidance, nothing. I was told an excuse that they were understaffed, which is exactly that. An excuse. However, the worst part is that after 35 minutes, the salad came and was inedible. It was swimming in dressing, not chopped at all, with at least 4-5 pieces of lettuce core in the salad - brown and inedible. I will provide pictures. I noticed that this has been an issue for my company as initially there were many orders for Chopt. But now, almost nobody orders from Chopt and everyone orders from Sweetgreen, which has the same program but always comes on time. There is always something wrong with the delivery, whether it's the timing or the inedible salad. I will never order this again. read more

Mexican Cesar salad was good and serves your needs if you are looking for something healthy, tasty, and within a certain calorie range. The sterile interior of the shop is kind of a downer so it's not a very warm, inviting place to eat, but it's quick and healthy. read more

I was impressed by his quick response to turn around the bad service we got for the delivery. True to word we did receive his recommendation of offering us a lunch ticket in hopes for our turn around to be customers again. When it comes to lunch, I am a salad person. I pretty much order their Shrimp Caesay salad everyday with lemon seltzer and their mini brownies. My biggest issue is that depending on when you order, it can take almost an hour (the last time this happened I considered picking it up and they said the wait was still really long). I've been to Chop't for the first time today. I had similar concept salads before. However, I was not impressed. The salad was saggy and the tomatoes weren't fresh. Then, when I asked for blue cheese dressing. Well, the guy literally opened the dressing container and dump half of it in the salad... result : the whole thing pretty much tasted like blue cheese, nothing else! I ate half of it and throw the rest... I'm on a blue cheese break since then. I may try it again in the future and I'll probably make a better choice of dressing but really, this is very far from the chopped salads I tried in the past. If you want to skip the line during week day lunch time, go around 11:30. read more

Wow this Chop't gets SO crowded during lunch time when the corporate crowd makes a beeline for their Chop't salads! If you can, I'd highly recommend ordering from seamless if you want Chop't for lunch, otherwise you'll find yourself standing in line for at least 20 minutes. If you order from seamless, it is just 15-20 minutes of prep time, and if you pick it up yourself, you can skip the massive line entirely and go straight to the front to pick up your salad. Every time I've ordered from Chop't, I've gotten a fresh well-made salad. It is certainly on the pricey side, but then again, Chop't has been really successful with its business and pumps out great salads along with an ever-changing seasonal menu. They also have a reward system that gives you $10 off your 10th salad, which is worth it if you plan on continually ordering Chop't! read more

Chop't offers mediocre ingredients at far too high a price. I am sick of being overcharged for a mass produced salad that rarely satisfies me. I have bought salads from them and received mushy lettuce, Bacon that tasted like it was leftover from several days before and rotten tomatoes. I would much rather buy a Pret a Manger or Dishes salad for less OR bring a salad from home. The amount it costs to make 2 good salads in one week is about 7 to 8 dollars. If you dress at work, then you are all set. NO ONE HAS EXTRA MONEY RIGHT NOW, so why spend 11 or 12 dollars for lettuce and 5 or 6 toppings when you can go to the store and make your own. If you are going to buy store made salads, there has to be a better choice. The Cosi Bombay Chicken, Dishes Cobb and the Pret Chicken and Avocado are much better options! read more
