    Salty chowder bowl
    Deb K.

We waited about ten minutes for a menu and the owner and server to decide who would serve us??? Food was so so. Chowder was salty and onion rings were not crisp and didn't have any flavor to them. What was nice was the chowder was hot and it was chilly out. What disturbed me the most was watching the female server scoop the salad onto a plate with her bare hands, wipe them on her jeans, continue to serve others, scratch her arm a few times, and not once wash her hands! They are busy because there's not much choice out here. But I'd avoid if you can wait for a healthier and tastier environment.

This place hasn't changed in about 30 years! I do have to say, they still have the best clam chowder on the coast. I had the bowl and salad combo which was just right for lunchtime. The chowder had a film on top as if it had been sitting a while. It was good though. You could taste the freshness of the clams. Service was to be expected as it is no longer tourist season. There were only two other guests there but the thing that stuck out about the ambiance was the TV in the background. I wouldn't normally mention it but it just stood out a little. Had the volume been lower or muted, it would have been better. Props for keeping the same decor up, and the trains, as I remember from when I was a kid. The Chowder Bowl is an institution of Depoe Bay.

I just noticed two additional fees on my receipt from the Chowder Bowl. 7% for what, credit card processing? That's outrageous.

We came in during the lunch rush. The restaurant was slammed, and they appeared short staffed. I think people were getting irritated. Aaron and Sierra were working the floor. Both of them moved around and stayed upbeat and positive. I commend both of them for their attitudes and customer service. The food was good and the restaurant was clean. It is a nice meal while in Depoe Bay.

Chowder was decent. Bread bowl was pretty good, bread was kinda sweet. Our server didn't have the best attitude and the place was pretty empty.

Good service @ Chowder Bowl in Depoe Bay, OR. We stopped here for drinks after whale watching. There was a cute model train on a track that went around the restaurant. Bartender was friendly and courteous. He served us promptly and helped other patrons get seated, and also cash out their bill.

Disgusting! Dirty silverware, even after asking for a new spoon, the second spoon still had dried food on it.

Lovely small nook with really good clam chowder. The best I've had on this section of 101. Waitress was warm and helpful.

Appearance - I'm solely basing this review off of the fact that I ate the food to-go. My husband picked it up for us while I was getting ready in the morning. Taste - I got the chai tea and my husband ordered the salted carmel breve. My drink was made from a chai concentrate, so it was nothing special. The drinks are made with Stumptown coffee. It was a tasty drink, on a cool morning by the ocean. We also had the Asiago bagel with the smoked salmon cream cheese. It was okay, I'm not sure I would get it again. The mini donuts were a fun sweet treat at the end! It felt like eating a crispy funnel cake! Our favorite was the cinnamon.

It's pretty small inside and definitely has an antique shop feel. There's lots of different styles and things around. There are a few small tables scattered throughout. The lady at the front was very kind and happy to walk us through their options. They have one small case that's mostly savory and one small case that's sweets with a tiny truffle case on the counter. I think the move here is the cinnamon roll, but when we arrived they were still baking, which meant it smelled delightful, but were weren't able to try one. We ended up trying the breakfast muffin, which was really unique. It's a muffin with cheese and spinach baked in, along with an entire strip of bacon just under the surface, and an entire egg baked in the middle. It was good, but I'm not sure I would order it again. I'm not usually a scone fan, I prefer a muffin, but their scones looked good. We tried the blueberry lemon and the cranberry orange. They were both really flavorful with a good texture, not super dry. The blueberry edged out the cranberry for me because the blueberries were fresh, whereas the cranberry were dried. This is a cute small shop, clearly making everything from scratch with passion. I'd stop back in for a cinnamon roll for sure!

The food is exceptional every single time -- and everything is plant-based, although apparently they're so good at it that people don't even realize it. Last time we were there, we ended up sharing a table with a stranger who had ordered an omelette. Somehow it came up that the whole restaurant is vegan and she was SHOCKED. She had absolutely no idea she was eating a plant-based omelette. Honestly, that might be the best review of the food right there. The place itself is adorable and quirky, with tarot cards and games on the tables, fun merchandise, and friendly, funny staff. And the pastries!! Worth the drive all by themselves. Parking is a little limited, but there's plenty of roadside parking nearby, so it's easy enough to make it work. The dining room opens up to a panoramic sweep of the ocean, and we happened to be there right at sunset. The sky was glowing, the waves catching the light in that shimmering way only the Oregon coast can pull off. It's the kind of view that makes you slow down, sip your drink, and just take it all in. We started with beers. I ordered the Heater Allen Pilsner, and my boyfriend went with the Ayinger Brauweisse. Both were incredibly smooth going down, the kind of beers that feel crisp, clean, and easy without losing flavor. Perfect start to the evening. I went with the Herb Crusted Lingcod, served with creamy mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts over a lemon caper cream sauce. The lingcod was cooked beautifully. It was tender, flaky, and seasoned just right. The mashed potatoes were absolutely yummy, and the brussels sprouts were a hit. Everything on the plate worked together. My boyfriend ordered the Teres Major, which came with an 8 oz Wagyu steak, truffle mashed potatoes, green beans, all resting on a peppercorn cream sauce. Side note: the menu says asparagus, but he ended up with green beans. Luckily they were crisp and delicious. The steak itself was juicy and cooked perfectly, and you can never go wrong with truffle mashed potatoes. We wrapped up the night with tiramisu. Flavor‑wise, it was spot on. Rich espresso, creamy mascarpone, though the ladyfingers were very soaked and softer than expected. Still tasty, just a different texture. Final Thoughts Tidal Raves is absolutely worth the stop. Great food, smooth drinks, attentive service, and a sunset view that feels like a postcard. I'll definitely be back again.
