    Halo Halo-Halo

I only come to Chow King for two things: the siopao and the halo-halo--so this review is just for those! The siopao is always on point. My family from Hawaii even stops by just to stock up on the frozen ones to take home, which says a lot. Consistently tasty and satisfying. I only recently tried their halo-halo, and honestly, it might be one of my favorites. I love that it comes with a little flan on top, a generous scoop of ube ice cream, and even has boba--which I know isn't traditional, but I really enjoy it, so I might be a little biased there. If you're craving these two items, this place delivers!

In town for the weekend and dropped by the mall to get a wedding gift. Food court was crazy busy and here I am at chow king. Big mistake to think it would be close to what I tried when I was traveling in Manila. First off, apparently I was not clear when I placed my order. I asked for the combo of Beef Noodle and Siopao. When I picked up my order, I asked for my drink cup and she said, I didn't order a drink. Hmmmm, but I ordered a combo. Lady said, yes you did, but that doesn't come with a drink, I'll give you a cup for water. I was floored to say the least! She was lucky I was hungry and did not have the energy to argue. I guess when you order a combo you need to verify combo with a drink. Potion extremely small. But the siopoa was good! Oh well, you can't win them all.

I love that it's located at Westfield South Center Mall. Plenty of parking and easy to find right where Seafood City and Jollibee are. Plenty of seating available but it can get pretty busy during peak meal times. When that noodle or dim sum craving hits. This is a great place. It's fast, convenient, and delicious. Great place for breakfast or a midday snack. Noodles were tasty, siopao (steamed buns with assorted filling) were tasty. Prices were reasonable. This place made me come back multiple times to try more of the menu. Service was fast and friendly. Awesome staff.

This place is located in South Center Mall across from Jollibee. They have a pretty interesting menu with a range of Asian food. I was curious and wanted to try some of their baos. I tried the meaty asado and bola-bola siopa. The exterior was nice and soft, and interior was ok. I felt like there wasn't much flavor to the bola-bola one. The person taking my order was very friendly.

Halo Halo and Calamansi Jasmine Tea

This is a limited review. I've been to Chowking several times, and the only thing I have ever ordered is Halo Halo. Today I also ordered the Calamansi Jasmine Tea. This is one of the few places that has a Halo Halo so we come here when we have a craving. The ice can be overly chunky. The rest of the ingredients are reasonable, the typical jellies, a small square of custard, and topped with a mini scoop of ube ice cream. Nothing fancy but it's enough to quench a sweet tooth. The Calamansi Jasmine Tea was a curiously tasty combination; it's exactly as it sounds. I do recommend this over sodas. The food has never looked appetizing enough to consider. I might order the siopao, but absolutely nothing else. I'll never understand why the wait is so long and slow. Two Halo Halo and a drink was at least 15 minute wait, if not 20 minutes. Insane. These two items might be 3 Stars, with the wait, it's 2 Stars, reducing by a full star.

My boyfriend was craving something other then Jollibee today, and of course he wanted me to try Chow King. I've honestly never tried it so I was so excited! The restaurant was located in the mall, and the parking wasn't so bad. It wasn't busy either, so that could've played a big factor. The restaurant was very clean & gave that Filipino restaurant feeling right from the jump. We ordered the fried chicken plate & it came with Lumpia & pancit. The lumpia was pretty good. The chicken was the star of the dish, as it was a little too greasy for my liking but it was juicy! The shopao was so yummy, I'd definitely try the others too. The halo-halo was so tempting. The service was top tier as always, Filipinos always got that down. Will be back!

The food we got was rice with mushroom beef and it was quite sweet than what we had expected it to taste like. But overall it was okay. The customer service is normal nothing special. Overall, we'll definitely come back to try different stuff.

For what we were looking for this was fine. We tried Grill City first but their breakfast stop serving at 10am and these guys served till 11am. We went with the two entree breakfast Longanisa Bangus (Pork Sausage & Milkfish. Eggs could have been a little less hard but the longanisa and fish were tasty. For the about $9.99 I believe and included a cup of coffee and garlic rice.

I had a combination plate contains: fried noodles small egg rolls 2 pcs of fried chicken egg rice plus a drink all for $10.74 I'm sorry but everything on this plate was dried and have no flavor except for the fried chicken. It was decent enough! I love food but I did not even eat the noodles and the rice Not very good carbs, not worth eating them if you are on a strict carb diet. My review is based on this one plate that I ordered. I will try other items on the menu next time to give it a better review but for now 2 stars because I was disappointed eating that plate. Dont let the picture of this place fool you. It looks good and big but actually smaller portions. its a meh for me...

Mediocre food, but it's cheap. My auntie loves this place and the last time I saw her in the Philippines she mentioned that I had to try Chowking at least once, since it's a Filipino favorite. I never made it to one in the PI, but since I was around Southcenter for work, I decided to finally check out what auntie was talking about. Located near Seafood City, I imagine this is a familiar spot for many Filipinos who frequent this part of Southcenter Mall. Chowking wasn't busy at all the day I visited, with just a few people dining inside. I didn't know much about Chowking, but knew it was a Filipino chain, serving Chinese food. Once I was at the counter I saw that the entire menu has items for less than 10 bucks, with many featured as a five-dollar meal special, including the one I got, which came with a piece of fried chicken, noodles and fried rice. My meal was lackluster, but hey, it was only five bucks. The chicken was greasy, but it was juicy and flavorful. I'll give ya that. It wasn't bad. However, the rice was bland AF. But the noodles were worse, as they were super greasy and just tasted oily over anything else. At least add some salt and pepper to the noods! I'd rather eat at Jollibee across the way, which I'm not a huge fan of in general. Therefore, I won't be coming back to Chowking. Sorry, auntie!

The food tasted great and the drink too. The service was good. The ambiance is a restaurant inside a shopping mall.

I remember the days when you'd see them sitting at the corner table, hand-folding wontons right in front of you. They've gotten so busy now that they do it in the back, and if you don't time your visit right, be prepared to wait in a long line. This is my absolute go-to combo on a chilly day, and honestly, the best hangover cure: Wonton Noodle Soup, Cod Fish Congee, Chinese Broccoli, and Chinese Donuts (Youtiao). You cannot skip the donuts--they are a must! My personal ritual is adding a splash of pink vinegar and chili paste into the congee, dipping the donut in, and taking a huge bite. It's pure comfort that warms you up from the inside out and instantly heals a tired soul. My husband prefers the beef wonton noodle soup because it's rich and hearty, but I love the classic, clean flavor of the plain wonton soup with its seafood-based broth. A quick heads-up: The service is typical for an authentic, bustling Chinese restaurant--don't expect fancy fine-dining treatment, but the staff is genuinely friendly and efficient. Also, **it's CASH ONLY**, so come prepared! Among the handful of restaurants I've stayed loyal to for 20+ years, this spot holds a very special place in my heart. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I stopped in before a flight, which in hindsight was a mistake. We ordered around 12:30 PM (niku beef udon, garlic pork udon, and chicken karaage), and it took nearly an hour to receive everything. The karaage came out first after about 40 minutes, then one udon about 10 minutes later, and the final dish close to an hour after ordering. Because of this, we weren't able to eat together unless one of us let our food go cold. On top of that, the restaurant itself was uncomfortably cold, which made the long wait feel even worse. It also seemed like many other tables were experiencing similar issues--orders coming out at different times or missing entirely, with customers having to repeatedly follow up. What stood out most was the lack of communication. There was no acknowledgment of the delays, no check-ins, and no apology--not when the food was dropped off, and not even when we left. Given that we had to pay upfront and the price point was $20+ per bowl, it made the experience feel even more disappointing. While the portions were decent and the noodles seemed handmade, the food itself didn't feel particularly special to justify the wait or cost. I truly hope this feedback is helpful. With better timing, communication, and overall service, I think the experience could be much better.

This place is a true gem, serving satisfying, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price. The restaurant looks small from the front, but space is used efficiently and they manage to fit quite a bit of seating into not that large of a dining room. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much.
