Usually, Chris' has been an outstanding place for breakfast. I have gone weekly to different breakfast meetings for a couple of years. However, recent experiences with the sound level and the service of one particular waitress have led me to give Chris' less than five stars. I did ask to talk to the manager about this waitress, and to my surprise, the manager did not attempt to accommodate my concerns. The food is usually very good. Excellent unique offerings for breakfast. Prices are fair. However, if you want a light breakfast, even just oatmeal with a cup of coffee will add up to over $10. Another detraction about Chris' is how noisy it can get when busy in the morning. I have had difficulty being able to hear my companion who was sitting right next to me. I wish I could write a stellar review for Chris', but perhaps if they work on these issues, I can in the future. read more

This place is a top notch breakfast place. I ordered South of the Border and added chorizo, it was so delicious!!! I enjoyed every single bite and was sad when the plate was empty. Serious foodie and I will travel for great food. The pancakes were also good but the hash browns were too greasy and I couldn't eat them. I have been missing out on this spot but not anymore, they will absolutely be in my breakfast rotation. The country burrito was a brunch gem. Egg, hashbrowns, sausage, cheese in a tortilla, smothered with sausage gravy and cheddar. It also came with a side of pancakes. Chris's is like diner breakfast taken to the next level. Also our waitress, Dana, was great! She told us she has been with the restaurant for 36 years. She was attentive, nice, and helpful. I always love having breakfast at Chris' Pancake! Our service this morning was amazing. We had a large party and between our waitress and a food runner we were checked on a lot. They kept my coffee coming which is my idea of a perfect morning To order I got a half classic breakfast. It comes with an egg, choice of meat (I did bacon - it came with 2 slices), choice of hashbrowns or fruit and pancakes or toast. Yes this is all in the half size! Today was my second time dining at Chris' Pancakes. As is usually the case on weekends, it was packed! Parking was tough and we made sure to add ourselves on the waitlist before heading over (you can do this on their website). The waitlist was 35 min long around 9:30am (Sunday). This time around, we shared the Shakshouka (an omelet burrito bowl with peppers and onions in a North African spicy tomato sauce with feta cheese) that came with a choice of a side (we got 2 pancakes). We also ordered the French toast. The Shakshouka was delicious. The tomato sauce was very savory and blended so well with the feta. The hash browns in the bowl were perfectly crispy, and the egg was cooked perfectly. The pancakes, as always, were solid and quite big for just being a side! The French toast was ok. It was nicely crispy on the outside and, yet, soft on the inside. However, when compared to the pancakes, I would opt for the latter on our next visit! Better than a dennys and pretty comparable to most diners. Price is average, $56 before tax for four people. i found this place because i was initially interested in visiting adam's smokehouse. i was surprised that this place which was somewhat out of the way was so busy so early in the morning. i would say i got here on sunday at like 10am, and there was already long line, so i would say if you want to avoid a wait you'd probably have to get here at like 9 or earlier they misquoted my wait time which was annoying, but eventually i was seated. given the name of this place, though there were some other things that i might have been interested in, i got the classic breakfast, which includes hash browns, eggs, a meat, and the pancakes. obviously i was most interested in the pancakes, which were, to be honest, a little disappointing. i found them kind of bland, and the texture didn't seem quite right, like they were very spongey. the other food was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. when it came time to pay i wanted to use CC tap but the server told me it was broken on a final note, parking here can be a little bit challenging. though there is a parking lot here, because it's so packed early on and people take their time eating, it's gonna be a challenge to find something. there's street parking further down the road if you're committed to finding something, which should always be available read more

I've lived in South City since 2019 and hadn't been to Chris'. That finally changed yesterday! My mom and I wanted some breakfast food and we're pleasantly surprised that there was no wait when we got there on Sunday at 12. We definitely got lucky because it was quite busy. We were sat at a two top in the first room, and were greeted with waters. We were asked what our drink preferences were, and I ordered a traditional mimosa. They have LOTS of boozy breakfast options, which I can appreciate. Such a great spot for brunch. My mimosa was great- and if you're a mimosa drinker you know exactly what I'm talking about. Ratio was perfect with OJ and champs. It's not great when you spend almost $10 on a mimosa and can't taste the bubbles. Chris' nails it. They're also super great with the sizing and the glass size. To eat I got the turkey sausage wrap and hash browns. The wrap comes in a standard tortilla with egg whites, white cheddar (I think- that's what it tasted like), spinach, and turkey sausage. It also comes with tomatoes, but tomatoes aren't my jam. The wrap was tasty and the cheese really brings it together. The hash browns were tasty and crispy, definitely fresh off the griddle. Consistently good breakfast place. This place does get packed on the weekends so we went early and got in and got served quickly. The service is definitely efficient with people refilling your coffee. The food is a little under seasoned but a little salt and pepper helps. The syrup for the pancakes is not very sweet which is something I've never said. I hope they switch to a different kind of syrup as that was the only disappointment. read more

We enjoyed breakfast here during our trip to STL. Service was quick and friendly and coffee refills came fast. Two of us had breakfast bowls and one had burrito. Food was delicious and came fast. I came here with my father a few days ago to treat him to breakfast. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, but the food immediately gave me a stomach ache and resulted in a day of throwing up the breakfast // unable to eat anything for the rest of the day. My dad who tried some of my breakfast plate also had a stomach ache, but not nearly as bad. I emailed asking to understand what might have gone wrong, but no response. Okay, so I read Hannah M.'s review when I was in town and decided to check this place out for myself. It was around 8 am on a Friday morning. I ordered the Country skillet with pancakes, half order of biscuits and gravy, sunny side eggs/bacon/french toast to go. There's a 15% charge for take-outs. We ate at here on a Sunday afternoon they were very busy but they move quickly you can get on the waiting list on line or at the restaurant we waited 30 min and it was worth it. My husband ordered a omelette two of my kids got waffles with toppings and two of us got pancakes. These meals were delicious from the pancakes to the hash browns with the fresh squeezed orange juice. The service was fast and friendly. Parking is right next to the building. Breakfast for two 8am Sunday mornings. Our waiters name is Jeremy and he takes care of us every Sunday we attend. My breakfast is always the meatless breakfast containing 2 scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese hash browns and either toast or pancakes, and my breakfast partner is all over the place with breakfast tacos, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, even yogurt. We catch up on happenings, enjoy breakfast in a very busy environment but not overwhelming with noise and comfortable atmosphere. We were a party of 2 and got seated right next to the server area for drinks and food passing. A person with Autism was in the group and could not handle the stimulation with the waiters passing dishes and drinks all around our table. Respectfully requested we be moved to a different table with less worker activity surrounding us. The host was a female and she sighed loudly and said "ok I guess" as if it was truly putting her out. It wasn't. There were several options open and we were also happy to wait for a table with less activity. She moved us. She moved us literally one table over from where we were, thus still directly in the path of many servers and incessant worker activity. The person with Autism walked to the front of the restaurant, as we were prepared to just leave. The hostess felt it necessary to make a snide remark stating, "oh that one's not good enough either?" She stated this to us in front of other patrons in the entry way. It was inflammatory, unprofessional, rude, and also completely unnecessary as no one had spoken to her and we were just going to exit quietly. People with disabilities such as autism do not need neurotypical people being unnecessarily rude simply because they are ignorant to the particulars about dealing with children and adults on the autism spectrum. Autism is a disability. Folks with autism do not have a choice when there is too much stimulation around them, it can cause a huge amount of stress and anxiety; this is often termed an autistic meltdown. This hostess caused a meltdown and was borderline hostile, to the point that the person with autism shouted , " I have autism! I can't handle that table!" Then walked out. During this period when restaurants have suffered so badly, one would think the face of a restaurant (greeter or host) would interact much more professionally with patrons and not get an attitude if a simple table move is requested. Instead she was so rude we left and will not return. Just because you can't "see" autism or many other disabilities doesn't mean they aren't there. Be professional, treat patrons with kindness and help when it's requested. This individual should not be seating people if it's that huge of an annoyance to her.
