Hungarian Style Potato pancake with Beef Goulash
    Jennifer P.

I was craving pierogies and found this restaurant and they didn't disappoint! It wasn't packed at all but the food was good! The ambiance is classy and it also has a bar so it has a real authentic Polish vibe. Our waitress was very friendly and answered any question we had about their menu. The borscht soup was a pleasant surprise - it tastes better than it looks, i swear! I couldn't decide whether to do boiled or fried but tbh they're both good options- you can't do any wrong picking either. I would recommend this place if you like to eat good food in peace :)

AMBIANCE Came here for the first time with a friend. The waitress allowed us to choose our settings since there were 4? 5? filled. The tables was pretty organized, not too crowded. They decor was nice, festive and comfortable. SERVICE The service was not bad at all. it seems our waitress was the only waitress on the floor, but she was sweet and attentive. She seems really happy when she was telling us the Special Menu of the day. Gives off a pretty good vibe. Thats a good way to start the meal. FOOD We orders a few things to tried, everything was pretty good, and flavourful. Prices is reasonably. Definitely will go back to try more and be reordering the potatoes pancakes, and peiroges. Tried: - Fried & Boiled Pierogis- Cheese & Potatoes - Potatoes Pancakes - Stuffed Pork Cabbages w hot Sauerkraut and creamy Spinach

I wish we found out about this hidden gem sooner! This place sells superb & authentic polish foods! We ordered many things to share: 1) Ukrainian borscht, 2) white borscht, 3) potato pancake, 4) fried pierogies (combination), 5) polish platter, 6) breaded chicken cutlet w/ 2 sides (hot sauerkraut, mashed potatoes), 7) 2 draft beers. Ukrainian borscht (w/ cabbage + beans) - SUPERB! One of the best vegetable borscht I have eaten so far. It was so delicious, and so flavorful (savory, sweet, tart, etc). We loved it so much, we got 2 large orders of it to take home. White borscht (served w/ sausage & boiled egg) - I have never had a soup like this. It was also very delicious & flavorful (savory & some tart). It was a very unique soup. Potato pancakes - WOW! It was also super delicious, crispy on the outside & soft and tender on the inside. The sour cream complemented the potato pancakes very well. I also would reorder this! Combination pierogies (cheese+potato, meat, sauerkraut w/ mushroom) - you can choose between boiled & fried. We chose fried & I think boiled tasted better. Out of the 3 different pierogies we tried, the best was the cheese & potatoes! The sour cream complemented the pierogies well. Polish platter (3 pierogies, 1 stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, sauerkraut) - The boiled pierogies were delicious. The stuffed cabbage was good but not my most favorite. The kielbasa was delicious! hot saukerkrat also very delicious! Breaded chicken cutlet w/ 2 sides (mashed potato, hot sauerkraut) - The breaded chicken cutlet was very delicious & when mixed w/ the mashed potatoes + hot sauerkraut, it was even more amazing and flavorful! That hot sauerkraut was sooo delicious, I would reorder that as a side next time! Draft beers (pale ale & the other was their most popular one) - both the draft beers were very delicious and refreshing and cold. The pale ale one was more potent and better tasting. My draft beer was lighter w/ a bit of fruitiness. Waitress was super friendly & attentive. Great customer service. Tons of indoor seating & it was very comfy inside. Love the homely decor also. Highly highly recommended! We will be coming back again! We were so stuffed, but we will be trying their Hungarian potato w/ beef goulash next time!

The restaurant is decorated for Christmas. All the ornaments and wreaths are beautiful. There is a small bar in the restaurant if you like to sit at the bar. Service was excellent. There was only one service but she told care of things. This is our first time at the restaurant, so she gave us recommendations. We started with cheese and potato pierogi and potato pancake. You have the option to choose fried or boiled pierogi. We didn't know which to choose so she said we could try both. The pierogi was delicious. It's interesting to try both styles of cooking. The potato pancake has tons of flavors and super crispy. I will definitely return to the restaurant and order these dishes again. We got the fillet bass and stuffed cabbage. Both entrees were well seasoned.

The food was very good typical Polish food nice atmosphere very reasonable prices drinks were good. I would go back there again.

Salmon tartare - would pass on this, quite fishy

Cozy Polish restaurant with bar. We tried many of the dishes and the majority were good enough. Service can be slow when it's busy and the restaurant was a bit stuffy from the rain. Lot patrons were enjoying alcoholic beverages with a few dishes to snack on. Very decent price and portions. I liked the lemon-y iced water. Note there is a small cash discount (~3%) and service charge was included (15%) on our bill. Will Get Again: 1) Beef tartare (4.5/5) - great portion and good quality, perfect on their toasted butter bread 2) Fried pierogis (4.5/5) - chewy crispy outside, warm potatoe-y inside, we also got the mushroom sauce on the side, and some complimentary sour cream 3) Raspberry lemonade (4/5) - raspberry flavor, not too much lemon/tartness 4) Draft beer (5/5) Okay but won't get again: 1) Ribeye steak (2.5/5) - average steak with veges on the side, I rather get something else for the price, corn on side is inedible 2) Ukrainian Borscht (3/5) - acceptable, enjoyable, good portion, tart 3) Beef goulash (2.5/5) - not my favorite flavoring, beef is mostly tender, mash is a bit dry Don't recommend: 1) Salmon tartare (0/5) - a bit fishy, avocado on top is fresh tl;dr get the beef tartare appetizer, lots of pierogis (boiled or fried), alcoholic beverages, raspberry lemonade, homey seating fair prices, slow but good service, slight cash discount (3%?), service charge (15%) included in bill

    Polish Platter

This is a hidden gem in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Let me start off by saying that my wife and sister in law found this restaurant a few years back. My wife and I always go back once or twice a year. (never disappointed) Our Polish friend offered to take us to dinner the other night. Well to begin with, the owners renovated the inside of the restaurant, which looks great. We ordered a house salad for 3, portabella mushrooms, cheese, and mixed greens. My only concern was the honey mustard dressing. It Was Amazing..... We then ordered our main courses my wife ordered the vegetarian platter, and I ordered the Polish platter, see below. Everything was excellent, and by the way, they served pumpernickel bread, and I would highly recommend it. This is a great restaurant in Brooklyn, that I would not think twice of going their.

We were totaly wrong in giving a chance this place .Rib eye steak which is extremely thin like a paper taste was so bad.Chris chopped steak is extra salty I didnt eat because of it was raw .We gave feedback about food..Server answered us directly I cannot remove from the bill our owner is not here.Actually we didnt want to her removed that food even we just took one bite .We told her no worries we are not expecting anything itis not your fault just give feedback to your chef.End of the meal our checked over priced .When we checked our bill we realized that she charged us battle fee:) after that we asked what was it that ?Her answer is sorry ,it is mistake when the customers bringing their drinks we charged it (bottle fee)If she were bussy I could understand but we are the only table there. It is unacceptable!!After this bad experience every time I am gonna check my bill!!! I dont understand the servers who try to defraud people.I will never understand.I don't understand the business owners who make such people work either.Ambiance is not important after this bad experience.

I saw a couple pointing and nodding, so I asked, is this place amazing? They said yes. We were sold. We were wanting a drink and conveniently, they had a bar. Polish beer and incredible Polish cabbage on the way to meet friends for dinner at another restaurant? Duh!! Im Jewish - not religious - but it's important because beef/rice is the norm in my world. Karczma makes a pork version which was so so good. Big fat pieces. Thick, perfectly wrapped cabbage. Juicy, flavorful filling. The sauce was bright with tomato flavor. The wagon wheel decor was a curveball, but the warm and comfy vibe in the restaurant is what mattered most. We loved it.

I got the schnitzel (breaded chicken cutlet) and it came with a side of coleslaw and mashed potatoes. You used to be able to pick two sides, but anyway... There was zero seasoning in the whole dish. The coleslaw tasty like nothing. It was full of mayo but tasted like nothing. The chicken was super dry and tasted like it had been fried yesterday and then heated in the microwave. The mashed potatoes had an annoying amount of chopped dill on top, but no salt. The biggest sadness came when I tasted the pickle soup. It is a shadow of its former self. It is light on pickles and full of under-cooked potato cubes. It was badder than bad. What is going on here? SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED CASH!

We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time, though there were a few delivery orders. The restaurant has a homey interior, with callouts to their historic presence in Bay Ridge. We ordered the chicken klopsiki ($15.65) and the Hungarian pancakes ($20). Each dish comes with a house salad, which consists of red cabbage, sauerkraut, cole slaw, beets, shredded carrots, and lettuce. The salad had nice flavors and tasted fresh! I really enjoyed the chicken klopsiki, which is a chicken meatball. The meatball was moist, and the sauce had a nice flavor, like chicken soup. The only downside was that the mashed potatoes had no flavor and tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I liked the flavor of the Hungarian pancakes, but the ratio of pancake to filling was heavily skewed toward the pancake, which was just fried potato with minimal flavor. Therefore, I would pass on the pancakes and just get the goulash if I decided to return. Service was okay. When I asked the server for recommendations, she wasn't enthusiastic, but I was asking generally, and I could have been more specific. She left during our meal, and we had to call someone to give us the check. So after giving us the food, service was nonexistent. Overall, I liked some parts of the dishes, but nothing was so amazing that I would be itching to return again!
