This is the second project (different house) that Shawn and his team have helped me with. Before using him the second time, I checked Yelp to see if things have changed (is he still getting positive reviews- doing good work??) I saw a 'one star' and was blown away. This person's experience was nothing like what we had seen and I looked at the other reviews this person had done and felt bad that they had so many negative experiences - that's a shame. On to mine! Great job! We purchased a house in foreclosure and frankly it could have used a brand new roof, but we were out of money! Shawn gave us a few options and put guarantees in place for patching the current one which would get us a few years down the road. We've had two leaks in our roof for a number of years; especially bad when the wind and rain blows (south to north) up the canyon we live in. We've had handymen and some DIY attempts to fix them, to no avail. We finally decided to contract with some roofing professionals and after reviewing three quotes with varying approaches to solving the problems, we chose Christian Roofing to do a comprehensive repair and maintenance of our roof. We had a number of broken tiles and some decaying fascia boards that all needed replacing. The work certainly needing doing after over 15 years (we rebuilt after the Cedar Fire) and we're glad that we had all that maintenance done. However, that didn't cure the leaks as we found out in the next couple of storms. I've always felt that the true measure of a company is not always how they perform initially, but how they deal with technical problems and customer issues later. After reporting to Christian Roofing that we still had the leaks they initially sent an individual out DURING a storm to see if he could determine where the leaks were and fix them. Subsequently, when I called to report that we still had the leaks, they sent a team out with, from what I could tell, the apparent directions to, "do whatever it takes to find and fix the leaks." And that they did; finding the leaks and taking a no holds barred approach to fixing them. We're looking forward to the next storms, mostly because we don't believe we'll have to again put out bowls to catch the drips. And even though they didn't get everything fixed the first time, I'll call Christian Roofing anytime I need roofing work done in the future. read more

After interviewing representatives at six roofing companies and receiving reasonable bids from three of them, I hired Christian Roofing in February 2022 to re-roof my 1941 Craftsman-style home, add a new roof cover over my front porch pergola and repair a flat roof on a non-permitted backroom that was added to my house in the 1950s. My project was definitely a challenging one. First, I required that the roofer remove three layers of shingles (including the original wood shingles) from the main house and the separate garage, and I required that the old roofing material be moved off site without using a container trailer along the side the house on my narrow paver driveway. Second, I wanted the roofer to develop some way to divert all the water that flows down the roof and through the pergola directly onto the porch every time it rained. There was no easy way to add a workable gutter system between the pergola and the roof because the pergola was almost as high as the roof eaves. And third, I needed the original "torched" roof on the backroom repaired. This leaky roof represented a difficult challenge because gas and electrical lines were spread willy-nilly over the flat roof and through it in several spots and a web of makeshift gutters had been placed on the roof in a failed effort to keep rain water from pooling there and penetrating the flat roof. In prior years, I sought help with the leaky flat roof and a proposed pergola cover, but I couldn't find anyone who would touch either project separately. It wasn't until I added the main roof to the work this time that I received reasonable bids. Even so, one company's representative said he "would pass on the project" presumably because it was too difficult or because he saw me as an overly finicky homeowner. Another company's salesman bid twice as much as anyone else, probably to ensure he didn't get the job. And a third company's representative visited my home twice to help him decide how much to bid on the pergola cover. He eventually said he would ask his manager to visit my home to determine if they could put a cover on the pergola. The manager never showed and that bid remained incomplete. Of the three reasonable bids I received, the one from family-owned Christian Roofing was the most expensive, but project manager Josh easily showed he was the most knowledgeable, interested and experienced roofer of the folks I interviewed because he could quickly and carefully explain in layman's terms what his team would do for all three sub-projects. I also learned later that the brand he recommended for roof tiles was the same one that I favored after my own independent research, and that his bid was higher than the others' bids in part because he offered a longer warranty on the house roof (10 years) and on the pergola cover and flat roof repair (20 years). And so, I chose him. During construction, his team repeatedly did extra things to reduce my concerns. For example, even though I forgot to do it, team members climbed into my attic and covered my furnace with a plastic tarp to keep the furnace from damage during removal of the old roof layers. During debris removal, an old light in the attic stopped working. One of the supervisors, Enrique, climbed up there and replaced the bulb. He also re-attached a furnace lid that came off during the commotion. I found out later he also re-attached some HVAC ducting that apparently came loose even before they started. I was surprised to learn that workers also cleaned up the site every evening, keeping debris accumulation to a minimum. To move roofing material (plywood, roofing tiles, vents) directly to the roof from the street, the roofers used a big truck with a very long conveyor belt. No one hauled new material through my yard or up the driveway. On the main roof, the team was careful and efficient. Installation took two days. On the porch pergola cover, I watched as Josh and company spend six hours determining how to construct the cover. Among many great ideas, Josh added a layer of shiplap underneath the cover on top of the pergola rafters that made the porch cover seem a homey part of the porch that had always been there. On the backroom flat roof, Josh helped me hire a plumber to remove an extraneous gas line and reroute the main gas line and an AC unit exhaust off the roof entirely. At his recommendation, his team built a narrow long wooden box with a metal top to cover the remaining electrical line and related HVAC refrigerant line across the middle of the roof. I ended up with a "torch" roof on both sides of this box, and no penetration points on the roof material at all. None of the other bidders offered a similar plan. The rain (a week after project completion) proved there were no leaks. Without reservation, I would recommend this company for any roofing job big or small. They showed they have the skill, experience and attitude to ensure a positive outcome. read more

I cannot day how helpful this company was to me. I recently had to change my modem snd password which disconnected me from my solar reporting. The online fix was not working for me. Julian Hernandez contacted me and VERY patiently and with great expertise guided me through a lengthy process to resolve the issue. This averted an expensive house call. The office person who helped me initially was very responsive also and went the extra me to see if we could work the issue out. Josh Preman of Christian Roofing helped me with replacing my roof, replacing all my damaged facia and some other wood replacement of damaged eves of my house. He also replaced a couple older skylights. The quality of the work of he and his crew was excellent. The price was better than the other quotes that I got and there were no surprises when I got the final bill. His attention to detail was excellent. He had to adjust the electrical lines and plumbing on top and around our roof , which was more complicated than the average flat roof and he was able to do this with little interruption of service. I liked that he was a one stop shop as he was able to include all the prep work himself whereas other companies would have had me do some of the prep work myself or through other companies. He was always very personable, kind and professional. He had excellent communication skills as he was always available via phone and he called me daily with the plan for the day and any other info that he needed to pass on. We've had a leak that got progressively worse. It was time for a roofer. I'm cheap, but wanted a quality roofer to fix it as we could NOT keep screwing around with it. Did my homework and found Christian Roofing to have very high reviews so that's who I called. Very Professional, on time, respectful workers, and did FANTASTIC work. Removed 3 layers of shingles, replaced some wood and put down new felt, shingles, flashing and vents. All in 3 days. Incredibly professional and reasonably priced. Did an outstanding job in a very short amount of time. A few issues we had were between days I found over 20 nails in my backyard which was a bit scary because I have dogs. The site was supposed to be clean. However at the end of the project, everything was totally cleaned. I do not usually like to see 5 star ratings on a first time review. I get suspicious of the review. I have been Yelping for awhile and I honestly give this company a 5 star review. When we had that last big rain storm a few weeks ago, the roof on our condo complex leaked and damaged a ceiling in an upper unit. As protocol, we called 3 companies to bid on repair and Christian Roofing gave us a reasonable bid which included maintenance of gutters etc . Job was done within 3-4 hours and later that day, Shawn, the owner, stopped by to inspect the work his crew did. He found a few little problems with sealing of some places (not the damaged roof spot, but other maintenance areas they inspected.) He sent the crew back the next day to fix. The following weekend we had lots more rain and no more leaks. We are very pleased with this company. read more

They have a big crew so the job is done quickly and cleanly. They know their stuff, too. We got double layer underlayment and the latest tile laying styles. We sought information about a reflective style of mylar roofing for a flat roof and received a thoughtful explanation of the benefits and costs. The estimate provided us with the three options that we requested. Once we signed off on our choice of material, we were scheduled very quickly, but......had house guests and had to put it off for what we thought would be a few days.....then the rains hit, and hit and hit, delaying the job. Christian Roofing was my 4th estimate. 1 estimate was from a small independent contractor. His price was good, but the job would take at least 5 days (too long for my needs), 3 other estimates were all close in price, The difference was Josh and the desire of Christian Roofing to work with the customer. I met Josh (Estimator) and right away felt a connection. Josh was very friendly and genuine. He asked me questions. He gave me options and made me feel very comfortable. He made several suggestions, but told me, "this is your roof, I want you to be happy". I had a question about roof vents. He shared pros and cons about various roof venting so I could make an informed decision. I mentioned that I got his company from Angie's list and he immediately offered me a perk. I did not expect. I knew right away that I would choose CR to do the job. My budget for the roof was pretty tight and I told Josh my concerns. I wanted to get the Low-E thermal protection but did not know how much wood replacement might cost (42 year old 2 story home). I told Josh that I wanted to proceed with the roof and hold off on the Low-E till I knew how much wood would cost. He was very understanding and did not pressure me in the slightest. Josh came by the day before the scheduled start date to show my wife and I shingle samples and explain in detail what to expect. He spent a lot of time with us. He took shingle samples on the roof so we could see them in place. He set them at different angels, he even took them across the street so they would be in full sunlight to help us decide. He was very accommodating and incredibly patient. He really takes time to make you feel comfortable. He carefully detailed the products and warranties we could choose from. The job went very well. The workers did a great job. They tarped off all around the house to protect and keep the area clean.We were amazed by how clean the crew left our home at the end of the day. Josh explained and showed me what wood needed to be replaced. Thank God, it wasn't much at all. I decided to go forward with the Low-E protection after all as an energy savings add on. CR also installed a solar tube and that installation went very well and looks great. My Wife and I were amazed at how positive of an experience this has been. The roof looks great and the job only took about 2 1/2 days. When we told josh how much we liked the shingles we picked he was very happy for us. It can be hard to imagine what a sample will look like when covering the entire roof, even after looking at picture of other homes with the same shingle. After the job, Josh came by to do a walk thru to make sure we were happy with everything. He even took me up on the roof to look it all over. He filled out the warranty information and included a nice thank you note for choosing CR. Josh is a great representative for your company!!! We had a leak into our garage from the cement tile roof. Pablo came over and gave us a good price, the 2 guys that came over did a good job, cleaned up and most importantly put the tiles back on correctly. Pablo made a recommendation to add a another piece of gutter that was not installed in the original gutter installation 20 yrs ago on the premise that it was not needed. That small piece of gutter made a big difference even in the heavyset rains. All in all very good. read more

Update 2/27/2018 We got yet ANOTHER harassing message from Ms Natalie calling me "ugly" and she is going to pray for me.!!!! You have got to be kidding! And, she needs to get her facts straight if she doesn't want her company to be sued for slander. There were a total of three telephone interactions after the job was completed. The first was to say that their workers forgot to pick up all of their ladders, materials, tools, and waste. Second, to request they mail the invoice to the accountant's correct billing address so a check could be processed. Third, Pablo was informed we would be mailing the check in approximately one week. An hour later was when Natalie called and unleashed her hostility. She did not believe that we had just spoken to Pablo and was mad at him for interfering with the office manager's authority. Here's what she later wrote: "I have spoken to Pablo and asked him to let me know if he calls to collect from customers." "we have addressed internally to ensure that this does not happen again." I feel so sorry for poor Pablo, he did nothing wrong and was highly respectful and professional. He was far more effective in his communication practices. In addition, since this office manager is hell bent on harassing us rather than heeding constructive feedback from the public, she totally ignored the underlying question. That is, why are they offering folks construction work ---with no guarantee on their workmanship? Considering I STILL had no communication from the owner/contractor-- only petty argument from Natalie --this has left us no choice than to contact the California State License Board regarding this confusing practice. The license board informed me that, generally, such statements could be contrary to California statute since all contractors are liable for defects in their workmanship for a period of 4 or possibly 10 years. The license board representative stated that they would be very interested in seeing a copy of this contractor's paperwork and encouraged me to file a complaint as the only means for them to investigate this contractor. If you've read this far, hopefully you can see that the average homeowner should have to go through this trouble with a contractor. I have worked with the most professional in the industry and I've worked with some that are super sketchy. Previous Update: 2/26/2018: We got a diatribe private message from Natalie today!! OMG-- It was so harassing and chastising of us for leaving a negative review. Not a pro Yelp move. She even chastised her own project manager, Pablo, for communicating with us, but not her. (We thought he was highly professional). We will not be bullied! Nothing, of course, from the actual owner. Ironically, I was informed by another party that Natalie is the wife of one of the owners or operating managers and her petty outbursts/anger displays toward customers and employees are nothing new. This, I guess, would explain why she acts unprofessional without boundaries. In my opinion, no boss is willing to reel her in. Nothing in this review is "false", and; for the other hard working men and women at this company who do their job, I would only hope no one has to deal with this person's unprofessional wrath. Original Review: My husband and I were a fan and had referred them to family in the past. Then, when I needed a smaller repair performed recently, they came up with an odd proposal for us to pay one amount for the repair or double the amount for them to stand behind the work. Weird. Why wouldn't they perform workman like construction no matter what fee they charge? I decided to pay the double amount. Then to make matters worse, the straw that broke the camel's back was the snarky office manager Natalie. She was horrendously rude in her call to ask when payment had been sent. Despite us telling her we had just spoken about this to the project manager moments before. Essentially, she mistook her perceived sense of authority and accompanying inflated ego to use an acrid tone and hostile mannerism that automatically severed the relation of an otherwise good customer. All for what? Buh bye. In as much as she didn't think it was necessary to have the owner call back --she proudly replied; "I'm the office manager" --hopefully the owner will be clued-in by this review. read more

Christian Roofing came in and replaced our entire roof in less than 5 days. If minor extras came up (which were few) they communicated it immediately and the price was fair. I discovered a large leak in the ceiling and roof right before Christmas. I called and was willing to pay an emergency rate, but was told they were too busy for me. They stated they would call back the next week to schedule an appointment. I had to call be by the end of the next week and received the same response. I was called back, now two weeks later and told someone would come out to take a look. Can you guess, no show. I was then called back a few days later to notify me that their backlog was too long to assist me. Now, 3 weeks in, leaky roof, I am so disappointed.
