We had literally the worst experience here yesterday. Seriously everything was awful!! Except the server she was kinda sweet but should have got the manager involved at some point.) We came by on a Sunday to watch the Astros v Rangers. Quickly noticing only 25% or their tvs had the game on w some sad country music playing in the background... we asked if the TVs around us could be switched and if the game could be put on please. As this is a Houston sports watching spot (or at least had been in the past.) After asking the Mgr it was a, no bc the rain interferes w the reception/ sound quality. Well could we please have this tv right in front of us be changed from caff roping? (Watching baby cows be yanked in all kinds of directions doesn't make me excited for that cheese burger...) Swear 15 min pass by... we are now out of drinks and still watching caff roping... My gf had to get up to go find the Mgr bc she was getting incredibly frustrated/ upset watching the poor baby cows. Finally swapped... Server comes back. We order another round of drinks. And inquire about the putrid, sour, smell of rotting waste that is no wafting thru the seating area... her response "oh yeah when it rains a lot there is a break in our sewer line. It gets pretty bad. Yesterday it actually overflowed into here and we had to close. Do y'all want to move? Maybe it won't smell so bad over on that side." HOLY$hit so you're telling us that yesterday this place was full of literal toilet water?! Shots please! We ordered 2 casa amigos 1 Rubyred grapefruit. And yes took her up on the offer to move tables. Food finally comes out. While my burger was hot the fries were totally ice cold. Clearly sitting in a premade pile they pull from... Friend's CX sandwich was also cold and the fried pickles seemed to be made yesterday... Server comes back to check on us and "bring our drinks" but again we are short changed. She forgot to ring in the cocktails, they are "out" of ruby red grapefruit vodka. The casa amigo shot was literally yellow. I asked if it was maybe reposado instead of blanco..? "No he just chilled in the shaker..." that's great but usually chilled casa amigos blanco is still clear. So it being yellow that means the ice is either dirty or the shaker is dirty... either way GROSS! Still a good place for a beer a burger and the game! Before the pandemic they had different size burgers etc but now it's all a 1/3 lb! I have been here a few times and every single time the food is good and so was the atmosphere. Are used to go to the one on Washington I Soum that was original one but it closedown. I used always go there for burgers and wings. I know come to this location and every single time the food was spot on. Recently had some wings and a few drinks, it was karaoke night, it was also white linen night in the Heights, and we just had a great time. The wings are huge, the fries are really good and so was the ranch. The service is really good as well, they were extremely packed that night and we got our food really fast, our drinks were always full, and even got to go boxes in our receipts in a very timely manner. This time it was more than 3 years since my last visit so I thought that since they hadn't gone out of business by now, maybe things were better. I was even in the 2nd room in the back which was far away from the doors and for a minute I thought that perhaps they had gotten better but it was just slightly better than before. For one, they had random stuff on the TV even while there was a Rockets game going on. Granted the Rockets kind of suck this year but still, it's a sports bar. The bigger problem however is smoking. They just don't care. Even all the way in the 2nd room, there was a thick smell of cigarette smoke. The Heights certainly needed a better sports bar - and by "better," I mean with bigger TVs and greasier food. Mmm. I mean, there is Distillery 25Twenty, but I wasn't diggin' their service last time. I've always been a fan of Christian's - the ol' Totem off I10 with its divey feel and the Midtown location with those annoying video games and full-bar. This new Heights location right off White Oak is the perfect medium of the two. This bar is hefty in size. The front half of the venue is an open-air space complete with garage-style doors/windows, giant fans, a bar, a few pool tables, a sea of flat screens (the most hi-def is behind the main bar), open for smokers ... and this entire area is dog-friendly. Go on ahead and bring the pup. The back half is partitioned by glass windows and leads into another bar area with A/C. It's non-smoking. We came here during the Women's World Cup. There was a great crowd that day, unfortch, they didn't staff nearly enough people for the day. No one could get service, and when they did, it was slow. And the beer wasn't nearly as cold as it shoulda been straight from the tap. I didn't get to try their burgers to see if they are just as good as the other two Christian's, but I did have some onion rings dipped them in queso - greatest invention ever. Other than that, I think once/if they work out the kinks - and ice down those kegs s'more - this place will be great neighborhood watering hole. Christians Tailgate went from bad to worse. I can't tell what is worse: 1. The lack of quality in their food (ew) 2. The poor service on a Friday night (understaffed) 3. Or the fact that I found a bug in my lemon drop (WTF) I came here on a busy Friday night. Tell me why there were only 3 servers all night. Seriously?! This is why I will not come back: - This place is filthy. Please make renovations by replacing some of the booths because it is tearing apart. Some of the tables/bars were nasty and sticky. And why was there a bug in my lemon drop?! (It looked like a mosquito) Unacceptable. - The service is downright terrible. Our waters were not refilled at all. Our server even over-charged my friends tab when he did not order 2 burgers. She ended up fixing it but still, please pay more attention to your tabs. It killed our vibe for the night. - I had the oysters since it was a Friday night. Obviously they have been frozen but it was not as good as it use to be.. Don't bother with their fries. It's disappointing. My boyfriend and I also ordered a small Swiss mushroom burger and onion rings. That was actually pretty decent but the onion rings were cold. This was my first time going to Christian's Tailgate on White Oak as I've always gone to the one in Midtown. I'm familiar with their burger and I am a fan of their country fried bacon burger. Every time I order this burger, I always ask for extra bacon and some cheese and that makes this a pricey burger. If you add some side order and a couple of beers, you could spend at the very least, $20 plus tax and tip dining here. Obviously since I've come to Christian's plenty, I'm not going to whine about the prices. I didn't like this location as much as I do the Midtown location because it's pretty much just a giant covered patio. You're not really dining "inside" when you dine here because it's all open space with a giant roof over it. You could smoke in here and when the weather is hot, you will sweat and you will deal with all the bugs and/or mosquitoes that you would normally deal with outside. Also, I couldn't really feel the breeze from the fans that are blowing inside. It's fair to say that I wasn't too comfortable when I was dining here. If you come with a big group, they will tack on gratuity even though everybody is paying separately. I wish I had paid closer attention to my receipt because I assumed that like most bar and grill that I frequent with a bunch of my friends, I wouldn't get gratuity tacked on. How wrong was I!!! Lesson learned. They have a private lot with limited parking spaces so that's a plus. However, when it gets packed, you might have to find parking on the street. And this place does get busy, just like any other bars on White Oak. All in all, if I'm craving for the country fried bacon burger and I'm in the neighborhood or don't feel like driving to Midtown then I'd swing by here. Otherwise, I'd rather go hang out at Onion Creek or do steak night at Public House where at least I know I can stay comfortable inside. read more

This bar is located within the Houston City Limits which has an ordinance prohibiting smoking within a building and outside also. Went to this establishment tonight and the first thing that hit me was cigarette smoke and ash tray on tables. I asked the manager why they were operating against a city ordinance and she just blew me off, saying our garage doors are open. The ordinance is very clear about it and saying smoking is not even permitted with 25 feet of any door. The temperature was 54 deg and very cold, they have 2 puny patio heaters burning fuel in an inside building so now I am getting carbon monoxide. The door are within 5 ft of the parking area and the street, when some diesel engine blew exhaust gas into the bar nearly gagging any one. I will report these violation to the City and my Councilwoman for further action. Do not patronize this place and by the number of people inside it is evident that others do not care for this business. Don't come here expecting a business that obey city ordinances prohibiting smoking. Their argument is they opened their garage doors. Temperature outside is 50%. Go figure. I came here for my lunch break with a friend and we sat at a table and waited for a couple of minutes and because no one was coming we decided to sit at the bar. We had to wait for a bit while the bartender Izabel was on what I believed at the moment was a phone order, she decided to come to take our order. My friend asked for some Chicken Tenders and I ordered an Appetizer Platter. We waited a ridiculous long time for our food (my friend is a manager in a restaurant and actually worked a long time ago in this particular place and I've worked in the industry too so we knew it was taking longer than usual) we asked for our foods and it took us a few times to catch her attention because she was in her cellphone texting and calling and sometimes she went to a side of the bar so (being in the industry I know it's why) the cameras couldn't catch her. She said she was gonna check on our food and we asked for refills of our *flats* drinks that never came. Couple of minutes later the Chicken Tenders came and I waited to see if my food was coming and nothing. I had to get her attention while she was texting and I asked her for my food and she went to the computer and came back and told me "Oh we don't have that plate, we don't have egg rolls and it's gonna come just with Mozzarella sticks and Fried Pickles do you still want it?" She totally forgot my order and didn't even said anything. I came here for a cute little happy hour, meeting with a friend. My waitress was very nice, however, I thought the drink I was ordering was 350 when it was actually 550. I ordered two of these, which I would not have done if I knew it was two dollars more than I thought. in addition to that, the bartender made the first drink humongous, which was great, and the second one was significantly smaller. Both the same price, which I brought up to my waitress, and also mentioned that I was not complaining because the drink was only 350 to begin with she did not correct me and I was charged 550 for both When I told her that my receipt was incorrect, she said that the drink was actually two dollars more than she thought, but did not offer to make the correction on my receipt. I would also love to mention why my drink was the additional two dollars I was told they charged me an additional two dollars for soda, water and lime. That's right, I got tequila with soda, water and lime and they charged me 350 for the tequila and two dollars for the water and lime. I called back to speak to the manager about it twice. The first day I called, I was told the manager was not there, the second day I called, no one answered the phone. I cannot believe they would lose a customer over $11 but it is what it is. I suppose. I will keep trying to speak with the manager because I would not have ordered in the same way. Had I known what I was being charged and that's not even a problem. It is up to them to communicate clearly their pricing before I am charged, while I still have the autonomy to make the decision that I want. I don't care that the difference was only two dollars with inflation the way it is. If management reads this, I want to speak with someone. Please give me a number to call to resolve this. Went on Wednesday, happened to be steak night. The steaks were on the thin side, but pretty good. The bar had a game of Singo(song bingo) going on which was fun to do as we waited for our food. We also got the Heart Attack Fries off the menu, which definitely lived up to their name. Our server was prompt and friendly. Ok, a dive bar...not really in the same blossoming-of-civilization-league as the Duomo in Firenze, but hey, I like divey bars. Or maybe not. If you like ice cold Bud, over-sugared and under-liquored drinks, or random people lighting up and blowing smoke in your face--this is your place. I came for the legendary burger. It's a good balance of meat, american cheese, lettuce with tomato and pickle. A fresh white bun, nicely thick, it's presence holds it together but doesn't crowd the other flavors. I liked it as a simple, classic of American fare but I don't get the adoration and acclamation of it. The fries have that fuzz saying "I've been cooked in old grease." It's a bit that some places use as a reason for excellence. As a teen when I worked a fryer, when we saw it, we changed the grease out and threw it away. It's okay. I like the fun setup, and I like the different specials every night when it comes to food and activities like trivia. Yay for being dog friendly and smoke friendly. Overall very relaxed chill vibe. There's plenty of televisions, a tiny side room with arcade games, and even a shuffle board if the occasion arises. However I don't see myself rushing to return, at least not for the food. The burger was just bleh. I ordered the regular burger with extra pickles and cooked medium. What I received was a well done burger with only pickles. I ask some staff for the missing vegetable toppings, though it was still a mediocre burger at best even with the toppings. The saving grace is the onion rings.
