We got the gold tier as it came with "A5 Brisket." I get that it's an all you can eat and the quality will not be as great, but if you're going to advertise that your meat is A5, I would expect to be served just that. As you can see...

in the photo, the meat quality is mediocre. The "A5" brisket in question is shown in the photo. The lack of marbling, the excessive amount of fat makes you really question if it is what is being advertised. I've had better quality meat at other places for half the price. Note: A bunch of meats that we ordered did not come and the service is slow. If you're here for the A5 experience, this isn't the place as you get 4 small pieces per person.

Went for a birthday dinner and got the Diamond Tier. Angie, our server cooked the Wagyu to perfection and we enjoyed the Wagyu handrolls, lobster rolls, and all that there was to offer. Will be coming back!

Came here around 4pm. Was the 1st on the yelp waitlist. Only took 5min to get seated. The atmosphere today was quite nice even though it was about 100 degrees. The server shows you a menu on the monitor. Ive been here many times. Today I noticed the new soda machine. They also have uni and lobster roll for gold teir. Rest of the menu is the same. Service is still as amazing as when they opened up. The quality of food is the same. Overall good experience. Will come back again.

Came for dinner around 6:00 and was seated pretty quick. It's a little hidden from the outside because there's no big signs but once you walk by you will see. They offer a diverse menu featuring Wagyu, sushi, appetizers, seafood, and more. There is a drink and dessert station and an area where you can customize your veggie and fruit platter. Everything we ate was good and fresh. The upstairs interior exudes the ambiance of a Japanese yakiniku/bbq restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the service was great! Definitely recommend when in Manhattan!

My friend saw the sign posted outside for their lunch special. So, we pulled together 4 more of our besties and booked a Friday Lunch Party. Omg we had a great time!! The food was amazing! And so much of it! Starters, sauces, veggies to throw on the grill with the variety of meats that came with our lunch sets. Desserts and bev too! It was the best time. So Delicious!! Chris, our server was perfection. She was always available, going back and forth clearing plates and changing out the barbecue grill tops. Couldn't be nicer. They didn't rush us out, no problem! We can't wait to book another lunch party at Chubby Cattle!

Was here with a group of 4 and had a great experience! Definitely make a reservation since they are normally packed. Since it was first time, our server took his time to explain all our options and told us about the membership. This turned out to be an awesome deal since you can use it at all the other restaurants in their network, which I already go to but never knew. You could choose from a ton of appetizers, meats, seafood, etc., all of it tasted great. A5 was great quality and flavorful. You have 90 min total with 70 min to order, so definitely make sure to keep ordering! With the Gold membership, it came out to $65 a person (each membership covers 2 people). Would come back again!

Been to the West coast locations a few times, I got excited when I found out another location was finally opening up on the East coast!! Came here the first time on a Saturday night and was a 10/10 experience! From service to the food, nothing to complain about. The hostess and our server Cody H. were great and made the experience great from the start. My best friend are foodies, we love how there is a self serve station for drinks, sides, sweets, sauces, and even rice!! Meat is really top quality, melt in your mouth and flavorful. And love the premium tier, it's worth it! 100% recommend this place to anyone. Place is aesthetic and clean as well! As much as I don't like driving to the city, this is worth the trip..I even ended up signing up for the membership...meaning I'll be coming to the city more often especially just for Chubby Cattle! The only complaint is that we were seated at the end of the restaurant right under a vent that was dripping on the table, that we didn't notice until near the end when it landed directly on the grill.

Was walking to the place and saw their awesome mascot outside. Saw it waddle inside. It was really cute. Great idea to have one. Took a while for us to get seated but otherwise the full experience and food options was super! We loved our server, he was so informative and kind. There are a lot of fair food options and are shareable. The lobster roll was amazingggg probably my favorite. We were all eyeing that one. I really appreciate how there are different options of meat, seafood, hand rolls, nigiri, fries, mochi, shrimp tempura, alll the meats so many options, etc. upstairs there are desserts like ice cream, sodas, egg tarts! First time here and it was great. Winston definitely made the experience much more awesome. Will definitely be back. Food and ambiance is good and good for family and friends (small or big group).

Great food, great decor, and amazing service from Sherry!! AYCE wagyu, with a lot of different appetizers and sushi to choose from. Will recommend this and will try all the other restaurants from their brand. Only tiny suggestion is if you're a table of 4, the 10 plates maximum goes fast.

Chubby Cattle is a high end AYCE Japanese barbeque restaurant with quality cuts of beef. We were helped by Stephanie and manager Jayden- both have been very helpful and friendly. The cuts were beautifully marbleized with a melt in your mouth texture. Sushi, rice dishes, and soup are also included in the AYCE menu - nothing gets boring for the 90 mins you are alloted to order. Everything is so good!! Stop talking and keep ordering! They have a self service station for drinks, small appetizers, and dipping sauce. Drinks beside soda included milk tea and matcha. The coolest thing was the automatic rice dispenser. We loved their curry and beef stew station- top it with their half boiled egg and it's perfection. There was a cheese custard station as well that had a durian flavor! There are different tiered options - we went for gold and signed for the Chubby club plus membership. We want to try Mikiya and their other affiliated restaurants in the future with discounted pricing and birthday perks.

Visited this location with my family, we had an additional guest but were able to squeeze six people at the table. The staff were kind enough to set up a side table for us to hold to meat allowing more space on the main table. We also had an allergy to watch for and they were great about double checking everything and verifying contents of sauces and food. The food was all delicious, we went with the gold package and had good variety. I appreciated the ability to get the sides and drinks myself. The overall set up of the restaurant was nice and it had a good design. It was loud but to be expected from a busy restaurant. We will definitely be coming back. read more

I made a reservation well in advance for Valentine's Day dinner at Chubby Cattle and chose the highest-tier Diamond option because I was genuinely excited to try it. Unfortunately, this was an extremely disappointing experience. I want to be very clear: the wait staff were kind, attentive, and consistently trying to help. They are the only reason I am giving two stars instead of one. The issues were not caused by them. They were visibly doing their best in a situation that felt out of their control. That said, the quality of the food did not reflect the premium price at all. The meat quality was poor -- especially concerning for the most expensive tier. It was to the point where I felt nauseated and stopped eating. For a $200+ dinner on Valentine's Day, that is unacceptable. The grill repeatedly would not stay hot. Our waiter kept coming over to try to fix it, which I appreciated, but it was disruptive and made it difficult to cook anything properly. The menu is also very misleading about the sides and add-on bar. The self-serve areas were half empty, not regularly cleaned, and not refilled for the entire hour and a half we were there. Sauce options were limited, and there was very little available to enhance or compensate for the lack of quality in the meat. I should have taken the B health rating and the fact that the restaurant was half deserted by 7PM -- on what should be one of the busiest nights of the year -- as a warning sign. What makes this more frustrating is the website's strict "no refunds under any circumstances" policy. Policies like that give the impression that customer experience is not a priority. When diners are spending this kind of money, there should at least be some accountability if the experience falls far below expectations. I have had significantly better Korean BBQ in Florida for half the price. I went into this dinner excited and left anxious, disappointed, mildly sick, and out over $200. I truly hope management evaluates the quality and presentation, because the staff deserve better than having to uphold an experience that does not match the price point. read more

I went on a weeknight as a group of 8 and we were seated at two 4-person tables. Food was good! I liked that we could order more through a tablet at our table as well as the variety of sides offered on top of the meats. There were self-serve stations with milk teas/sodas, curry with a cool rice dispenser, salads, fruits, and desserts. Service was fine - the food came out pretty quickly though they forgot a few of our orders but we figured it was towards the end of the meal anyway so we just let it go. I wasn't a fan of how they kept advertising their membership and how they told us to leave a review that mentioned our server for the night. I usually have no problem leaving reviews but in going through their page reviews, most of them have no substance aside from them mentioning how great their server was, which doesn't help me in any way. read more

Wow!! Amazing AYCE! Probably the best AYCE place I've ever been to. The meat was so tender, and there a ton of options to choose from (even at the lowest tier). The skirt steak was def my fav; the Wagyu steak, top blade, & short rib were also up there. And, it's not just AYCE meats to grill - it also includes AYCE sushi, dumplings, various side dishes, etc. You can also help yourself to soda cans, milk teas, miso soup, desserts, and more. Nice to have a Japanese bbq in the soho area. It add to the dining options. Service staff was great they explained how and what to expect. The only thing I think we are missing is the quality of the meats. Having being a meat eater that is super important to us. Our first time at chubby cattle - they had opened just a month prior. We chose the gold tier which included a selection of a a5 Wagyu menu item per person. Our personal favorite was the beef tongue platter. The foie gras nigiri was also amazing. Our server was sherry. She was super attentive and explained how the membership and menu worked in extreme detail. We had so many questions since it was our first time here but she was so patient and helpful. Me and my husband decided to check out Chubby Cattle BBQ for the first time. First impression: the ambiance *chefs kiss* the decor and art plastered along the walls really give the establishment so much character. We were served by the amazing Angie who gave us such great food recommendations as well as sauce pairings that suite the different cuts. She was so friendly and helpful. The server was nice. Food is alright. Too many restrictions, not truly ayce Wagyu. Even if you get the top Diamond tier (which I did), they limit you to 2 pieces of true A5. The rest is Australia but I feel like some of the meat was just choice grade meat. And for all my alcoholic friends, all they have is Sapporo right now.... No sake or any liquor at all.... It was our first time to dine-in at Chubby Cattle last Thursday, October 16 and it was amazing! The wagyus are unlimited and super tasty! They also have unlimited self-service station, sushi, seafood, signature dishes, and grilling foil to choose from. The ambiance stands out! It felt like you were in Japan for a sec. Thai and Christine were fantastic in walking us through the tier selection (beef/wagyu options) and with grilling service. Really fantastic service and cleanliness for how many plates are coming and going from the table. Louie was our server and he was super helpful. He brought over house tea and veggies to pair with our meat. The whole staff is hustling around and taking care of multiple tables. Nickel and diming with the fine print. Be warned that there's no ayce wagyu at face value. Also they had a B which might explain why me and my party had upset stomachs the next day. 95% of the dishes were low quality and this is with us purchasing the highest tier. Food: 7.8/10 The food overall was solid, with a good range of options that kept the experience interesting. We opted for the "Gold" tier ($78 per person), which includes a selection of higher-grade items available once per table. From that menu, I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu short rib and the uni caviar lobster roll. While both sounded impressive on paper, the lobster roll in particular was underwhelming visually--it looked nothing like the menu photos, which set a misleading expectation. That said, the core strength of the menu lies in its variety. There's a wide selection of cuts ranging from beef tongue and finger meat to pork belly, which gives diners the chance to explore different textures and flavors. The quality of the meat itself was generally good, though not exceptional across the board. One notable downside was the self-service station for sauces, drinks, and side dishes. At this price point, it feels out of place. Beyond concerns about cleanliness, it detracts from the overall dining experience--having to get up repeatedly doesn't align with the level of service you'd expect when spending close to $100 per person after tax and tip. It makes the experience feel more casual than the pricing suggests. Service: 2/10 Unfortunately, the service significantly detracted from the experience. We had an 8:30 PM reservation and arrived on time, but due to internal delays, we weren't seated until about 20-25 minutes later. While delays can happen, there was little effort made to compensate for the inconvenience. Once seated, our server did a decent job explaining the menu and tier system, but the experience quickly went downhill. Immediately after placing our first round of orders, we were informed that the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes. For an "all-you-can-eat" restaurant--especially one at this price point--this is simply unacceptable. Most comparable establishments allow at least 75-90 minutes for ordering, which makes this restriction feel rushed and poorly managed. This time constraint forced us to speed through the meal, which completely undermined the enjoyment. To make matters worse, portion sizes were extremely small. For example, our table of four was limited to a single order of lamb chops, which consisted of just two pieces--hardly enough to share. As the meal went on, the pressure only increased. During last call, while I was still trying to finalize our order on the tablet, the server announced, "1 minute left," which felt unnecessarily abrupt and added to the already stressful atmosphere. By that point, the experience had shifted from enjoyable to frustrating. Ambiance: 8/10 The ambiance is where the restaurant really shines. From the moment you walk in, it's clear that a lot of thought and investment went into the design. The space channels a Japanese-inspired street food market aesthetic, complete with hanging signs, lanterns, and a lively yet casual atmosphere. The table setups are also well-executed. The built-in grills are high quality, and the seating is comfortable enough for a longer dining session--if only the service allowed for one. Some tables feature wooden partitions that add a sense of privacy, which is a nice touch. The inclusion of ordering tablets at each table is another highlight. It's convenient, especially when servers are busy or hard to flag down, and adds a modern element to the experience. Overall 2.9/5 While the food and ambiance show promise, the service and operational issues significantly hold this place back. The rushed dining window, small portions, and lack of accommodation for delays make it difficult to justify the price. We have lived in the area for about 15 years. The most recent restaurant in this location, The Woo, became our date night spot. We would take many, many friends over the years, but we would always reserve and visit for a date our special occasions Anniversary, Valentine's Day, New Years, etc. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not take reservations for two people. I understand it's a big ol' chain restaurant -- but there's nothing to make one feel like this is a tourist-catered spot only like not allowing two people to plan in advance in NYC, where people live jam-packed lives; it's not just vacationers, here, folks. The first floor was empty when we arrived at 6:15pm. Empty. And they quoted a 40-60min wait. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and guess that they're currently short-staffed for the soft open and the upstairs must have been packed. One hopes. Regardless, it's now been more than 1hr & 45mins since we walked in and we are still not off the wait list--and that's not due to lack of planning. Once again, they do not accept reservations for two-tops. They also do not have a bar to pop up at. I hope that's solely temporary due to the soft opening and time it can understandably take to get a license. We went elsewhere. And from the reviews we are seeing about the limitations on the A5 Wagyu, et al, we likely won't take the risk again (unless my super-disappointed sweet partner insists). We instead found ourselves at Chachatang on 6th Ave, which had excellent cocktails and food; we shared a phenomenal meal. Highly recommended. I generally, genuinely root for every new spot that opens in the neighborhood. We always to visit every new business we can. Trying to force a line and wait clout can often backfire with these touristy spots -- especially when seeming disappointments await inside. I do hope for the best. We'll see. read more

The quality and variety of meats are a big step above what you usually get with AYCE--everything tasted fresh, well-marbled, and thoughtfully curated, with plenty of options to keep things interesting throughout the meal. Service was also a standout. Sherry took great care of us--super attentive, friendly, and on top of timing without ever feeling rushed. That alone elevated the whole experience. The real kicker, though, is the Chubby Group Plus deal they're running right now. It's advertised at $58 (somehow came out to $29 for me on their app, no complaints ), and we basically made the membership fee back in this very first visit. The perks are legit: * 2 beers included for free * 2 complimentary orders of A5 striploin (2oz each) as part of the Diamond tier -- absolutely insane value and genuinely delicious On top of the meats, there's an awesome self-serve drinks, dessert and soup selection, which is a nice bonus and not an afterthought like at some places. Their other hot dishes are also very tasty, complementing the meat well. My favorite (a definitely sleeper) is the chicken wings, perfectly crispy while juicy and seasoned to the heavens! All in all, great food, great service, and one of the best-value AYCE KBBQ experiences I've had--especially if you're taking advantage of the membership perks. Definitely coming back. read more

If you're debating whether to go to Chubby Cattle BBQ... just know this place is basically the Hidden Leaf Village of hot pot and BBQ. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we unlocked Ultra Instinct like Goku. The service was fast, sharp, and on point -- like they trained under Master Roshi before their shift. And shoutout to our server, Kasey, who was absolutely amazing. Attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead -- honestly Hokage-level hospitality. She made the whole experience smooth and fun from start to finish. The wagyu? Legendary status. We're talking top-tier, over-9000 quality. The marbling melts so perfectly it's like watching Naruto finally master Rasengan -- smooth, powerful, and deeply satisfying. And the all-you-can-eat setup? That's Pokémon trainer energy. You don't just order food... you collect it. "Gotta grill 'em all." From premium beef to seafood to sides, every plate felt like adding another rare card to the collection. I went here for my birthday and it was so much fun. You have a touchscreen moniter/iPad to put the orders in. They did have servers walking around, although you are responsible for doing your own cooking to my current understanding. I had gotten the Gold(medium priced - $65 for member pricing and $78 for standard) which while very fun I would say does feel like a special occasion treat - as the items which I believe were on the Silver menu (cheapest - $49.99 member pricing and $58 for standard) had a wide variety of delicious good quality options. They sang happy birthday to me and had a banner which was quite fun - the ambiance felt friendly and approachable. I had an 8:30PM reservation, and our server let us know that they were closing down the unlimited station to make sure we got our desserts while we could. There is a drink machine to the left of soft serve machine that you should not mix up as a 2nd soft serve machine/sauce dispenser. It dispenses drinks. read more

I had an incredible dining experience at Chubby Cattle -- truly a 10 out of 10! From the moment we sat down, the service and food exceeded expectations. Our waiter, Sam, was outstanding. The buffet options were excellent as well, offering a great variety of fresh and flavorful choices. This place was insaaane -- all the hype is true. Every cut of meat we tried was incredible. My friends said the hand rolls were also amazing, and there was so much good-looking stuff on the menu I wanted to try, but since it was my first time, I wanted to keep it all beef. We went with the Gold Tier, and our waitress, Kasey, was fantastic. She put us onto her favorite cuts, which we ended up loading up on again and again -- especially the A5 Wagyu (unreal) and a few others she recommended. We were celebrating a birthday, and it honestly couldn't have been a better spot for it. Great food, great experience, and great service -- even great ice cream. My friend and my first time at this place, but it was on our list for a while and WOW it was so incredible. The meat was excellent and very good cuts and portion sizes. Our server Tenzin was fantastic and helped us navigate the menu and our orders with extreme detail and accuracy! My experience for Chubby Cattle was great! We made a last minute reservation the day of. We got to the place 20 mins before and waited closer to our reservation time to sit down. The ambiance was great. Space to eat and sit with your party and nothing felt over crowded or too loud to speak with the people in front of you. Servers and staff were accommodating and cleared out our space if we finish eating and cooking. We cooked our own meat and the quality was fresh and also marinated well. 5/5 Stars I went to Chubby Cattle BBQ today and had an amazing experience! The food was delicious, but what really made the visit stand out was the outstanding service. Solid first time at Chubby Cattle, and definitely not the last! Meat selection was super fresh and plentiful, and we were big fans of the tom yum soup on the side! Service was also great -- the hosts were warm and welcoming and our main server Kasey was very informative and helpful with the cooking and keeping an eye on our grill for changes. We went mid-afternoon and had a wait of 1.5 hours, but it was definitely worth it. Yelp doesn't allow 2 person reservations for whatever reason so we just walked by and put our names down. We ended up just trying out the silver menu but decided to sign up for membership after having such a good time. read more
