The atmosphere is quite chaotic. It's really loud and bright in there. But the food is decent and they bring it out quickly. I particularly liked the Tonkusta ramen and the truffle white fish starter. It's a great deal for the amount of food / different styles of food you're able to eat. The pork belly bun and the artisan roll were some of my favorites. You absolutely need to get on the waitlist especially on the weekends as we waited 90min the first time we came on a Saturday evening...well worth it though! My only issue was we were 40th on the list when we checked in and there was no timeframe mentioned for how long that would be to get in. I ended up calling them to ask and they said it'd be about 90 min from that point and they were spot on with that timing so I do recommend calling for a timeframe if you're higher up on the list. We were able to be seated right away thankfully and sat at the bar. The place is awesome! Contemporary styling with cool anime style paintings covering the wall! Neon signs and upbeat EDM music keeps the scene live and energetic! It was very cool! The menu is filled with all kinds of roll choices, hot bites and apps, ramen, and even hibachi meals! We tried a bunch of different things! The rolls were very good! The ingredients tasted fresh, and to my surprise, they didn't use a lot of extra rice! It was nice! The Nigiri was fresh and delicious. All of the rolls and nigiri were extremely good!! The hot items were both good and meh... The Tempura, kara-age, bao bun, and pork skewers were all very good! The tempura was a larger portion than expected and cooked very well! Crispy and delicious! The takoyaki balls were not very good. Wasn't especially warm with kind of a weird creamy/under cooked texture in the middle. The Chubby Bites were ok. They are filled with spicy salmon and then cooked, which leaves the salmon bland and very dry. The age shumai were mid as well. Fried but still soft and mushy. But not bad, just not great. The wait staff is quick and courteous. Quick to clear empty plates and refill drinks. Most of all, despite how busy they were, the food came out pretty quickly. They just opened so I think over time the service will get better. My friend is gluten free and unfortunately our waitress didn't know if anything had gluten or not and couldn't really give us an answer about anything even after saying she was going to ask the kitchen. An allergen menu would be great! We also ordered and never got our sushi, after about 40 minutes our waitress came over and asked if we wanted to order anything and we told her we were still waiting, and she got our order right away! Needed to come and see what all the hype is all about. I was told that the wait would be over an hour, so we got there right before the rush. They do need to put our benches in the front to sit, especially when your being asked to wait out in the parking lot. For all you can eat, the price isn't bad. But you do get what you pay for. Once you enter, the atmosphere really takes you back. You do feel like your in Japan. Super cute and a downtown Japan street vibes is what I felt. They have a huge four screen tv- but wasn't playing anything esp when it's playoffs time. When asked they put on YouTube. I liked that all the hot food portions was small enough to be able to keep trying other things, but still a good size to share. I wish the rolls had half sizes for this reason. Cannot resist the temptation to try out the soft opening Chubby Fish Sushi and glad it was better than expectation. Compared to Sushi Umi, the ambience of the reincarnated Chubby Fish and Sushi was brighter and more comfortable. Although the restaurant was packed, the service was still very attentive and swift. There were 38 varieties of sushi rolls, 18 varieties of nigiri, 20 varieties of small bites (including white tuna sashimi), 7 varieties of skewers, 6 varieties of tempura, 5 varieties of salads, 4 varieties of hibachi, 2 varieties of soups, 2 varieties of ramen, 1 variety of dessert, not counting the white and fried rice, there were about 103 items to select from. Probably even foodies would be maxed out after trying less than a quarter of these. Most importantly they did not compromise on the quality, texture and taste and the food here was comparable if not better than many well known sushi restaurants in town. You probably will spend more than $29.99 for two or three items of similar quality at other places. Overall, highly recommended and worth a drive to Thornton. read more

Made a reservation for my family and I (myself, wife, 5 year old daughter). Reservation was made at 5:44pm. Drove to the place and waited in the parking lot. Daughter was very hungry, we got get Buffalo Wild Wings since it was in the same shopping center. She ate in the car while we were called. Finally "Chubby fish" called us in at 7:03pm. Mind you, it's snowing and I'm in crutches. It was our first night out in a month. We walked into the restaurant and first thing the manager says is " have her (daughter) stand against the wall to see her height". My daughter goes and manager says, "She is being charged to sit at the table". I responded, "my daughter just ate wings and does not like sushi". "It's just My wife and I that wish to eat here. The manager responds, "your daughter cannot eat another restaurant food". (daughter had a wing and fries in her hand. He says, "I have to charge for her sitting at the table". I told him it didn't make sense to make someone pay for someone that is not eating the sushi. Not sure if this guy (manager) had a bad day that day. We came in on Thursday, we got there around 6pm. After driving for an hour in traffic, we checked in and our number was 30 on the list, the online program did not have an estimated wait time which would have been nice to have to determine if we should continue to wait. We however did not think it would take over 2 hours to get inside. While we were waiting outside, we heard a larger party of 8 behind us say that they had gotten off the list before getting there because someone in their party had not responded, they walked right in and were told they could get a table in 20 minutes, at this point we had waited over 1.5 hours. They were served before us even though we had been waiting for longer and had less people. Once we were finally seated we really liked the look of the restaurant, they have tables and booths. They had anime playing on the four big screens and a little robot that comes around and brings your food. The environment was not the most accommodating if you are sensitive to sounds. It's already loud in their, but a lot of the patrons were loud and obnoxious. The food was decent, our favorites were the rolls specifically the lava roll and the Godzilla. The nigiri was good but kept falling apart. The thing that made us giggle the most was when we got our tofu skin nigiri, the tofu was folded nicely on top of the rice instead of it being a tofu pocket filled with rice which is what we made expected and was on the pictures. So I would not trust he photos on the menu to be exactly what you're going to get. However we had many items that we never received such as our ramen, the fired chicken and several pieces of sushi, they were however on our ticket. It seems like they may not have enough servers, since we didn't get many of our items but did receive an order of fries we did not order and when we let them know they seemed peeved that we said anything. Something to note is that for every piece of sushi you do not eat you are charged 1 dollar. Our server however was very kind and attentive she made sure to get our order in as quickly as possible. We went here on July 3rd with my kids. My daughter usually comes here with her hubby all the time and was super excited to take me and her sister here. The first server was wonderful, and helped out when we wanted to switch tables because I was having a small anxiety attack, and they were more than happy to accommodate. After the move, however, service was pretty bad. The server barely said two words to us, took the order and 35 minutes later delivered only ¼ of our first round, it took another 25 minutes later? The rest of the food was delivered. I even ordered one of their special roles and they never delivered it. 55 minutes in and we still didn't have second round. 70 minutes in and they delivered our second round, but still didn't deliver the special rolls. I am just not that happy with the service and wait. For 35$ per plate for all you can eat and 90 minute limit for the meal, when 70-80% of the time is waiting on the food to arrive, that's a very bad experience and a poor value for the money spent. I then advisors the waitress that this was not a good experience and her response was more of an "oh, well", and then proceeded to give us our bill. The food was good when it arrived, drink selection was good and atmosphere was good as well. However I will probably NOT come back. It's not worth the value due to the poor service. read more

That said, we didn't have to wait very long for the food as they had about 5 or more chefs on the line behind the counter. Our orders came out correct and looked great. The cheese wantons seemed like they may have been sitting for a bit before they got to the table, but they were still good! The techno-ish remixes being played were very loud but we could still speak to each other comfortably. There was one or two times where I had to lean in closer and ask the server to repeat what they had said, but it wasn't a problem. The food was awesome! We were actually surprised at how high the quality was for the price and location. I honestly expected tough pieces of sushi, rolls that fell apart, or portions that were primarily rice with small pieces of fish. Happy to say that I was wrong.
