This gas station is at a great location. It's close to the freeway and at an intersection in one of the most well-known cities in Southern California. I sometimes stop by here to fill up on gas on the way to or from work. This past week, I stopped by to fill up again and I decided to visit the corner store to see what was in stock. I was surprised to see that pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and more were sold here! On a whim, I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, which was a little over $8, and it was actually pretty tasty. I'll have to try out more of their hot food options the next time I fill up on gas again. read more

You should never come to a gas station near the freeway because they always charge higher but this was a emergency situation so we came here. We parked at gas pump number 7 but after I put in my zip code, it said to see the cashier inside. So I went inside and had to wait while 2 people in front of me was cashing in their lottery winning. Once they finish, I was able to pay and go fill up my wife car. My wife went inside to use their bathroom. I only put enough to get it halfway because I usually fill up at Costco. read more

This was my first time since it was renovated. I must say, I was very impressed. It was clean, thoroughly stocked with products. Jesse, the cashier greeted me when I entered as did the manager, Helen. It is such a wonderful feeling to be welcomed. I tried the pizza that they sell and I was amazed how good it was. Hot, fresh and loaded with pepperoni and cheese! Got a coca-cola from the clean serve yourself beverage area. You can't beat the price! Very affordable! I spoke with Art on the phone a couple of weeks ago. He quoted me $2k to Remove/Replace front shock strut assemblies (L/R) and rear shocks with KYB equipment. First, KYB does not make a complete strut assembly (coil spring/shock strut). Second, his mark-up is OUTRAGEOUS. Bottom line: I bought Monroe complete front assemblies and rear shocks online for $450 easily found a local shop to install all (4) shocks for $250 (only $250 labor since they are quick struts). So, do you want to be wise and do some homework....and save $1,300? Or, be a fool and get ripped off? James read more

Do not do any auto-repair there. I came to this place with a "Check Your Engine" light on. Mercier charged me to diagnose and came up with a long list of things that my car urgently (!) needed right away - thousands of dollars! I took it to a different, honest, shop and was told that I needed to change only one part, that my car was in good shape and did not need any other repairs. It was a few years back and so far I did not need to do any of the repairs that Mercier so urgently insisted on :). Avoid! read more

So I go into this place to get two bottles of water and left feeling like Jerry the cashier tried his hardest to rob me of a few extra bucks. He really rang up extra items that was behind the register that I couldn't see. So my bill rang up to 9.50 9.50 for two bottles of water??? Are you insane Jerry? Did you not think I would catch that? Me thinking this was odd, waited to get my receipt to check it that's when I saw the other items he added.(Starbucks energy vanilla, small figi water and 2 crv's whatever the hell that is) As him and the other lady behind the counter look at me review the receipt hoping I didn't catch what he did. I point it out and Jerry says oh sorry I thought these extra items was yours. Oh really!?!? How could you think that when after you rang it up you did not put it in my bag? This station is right off of the Burbank West exit. Being that it is so close by, it is also very expensive. I definitely appreciated the service that I received and the extra care that the clerk took to check my tire pressure. That was really nice of them. I have not had any service work done here but from what I hear, these guys do a great job. I have had a few friends come here to have some work done and they are definitely repeat customers. I must admit, the clerk was super friendly and one of the service guys peeked his head out to see if I needed any help. You don't get that kind of consideration everywhere you go these days. I called in to get my cars smog check and was greeted happily on the phone and told to come in as they could help me right away. When I got there Gabriel walked up to me smiling and right away got me started. The whole process only took about 15 minutes and Brian offered me a free coffee while I waited. When they were finishing Gabriel told me that my oil was low and that they would top it off to make sure I would be ok. Then Art (I believe was his name) told me that my tires were a bit low and they filled them up to the proper level. I'm so impressed with Chuck Mercier's 76. I experienced EXCELLENT customer service: they listened to me, patiently answered my MANY questions, made sure I understood what was being fixed by showing me, didn't give up trying to figure out what was wrong with my car, found the problem, and fixed it! My car wasn't passing smog because two monitors were reading "not ready". Other shops would hook my car up to the machines, not see any codes, and tell me they couldn't do anything to help. I went through a lot of run-around between the DMV, BAR Referee, and CAP program. Finally a neighbor recommended Morse Muffler (another great shop) and they referred me to Chuck Mercier's 76. At Chuck Mercier's 76 I experienced customer service like never before. The cashiers (Jesse and Brian) are polite and efficient. Taylor (service writer), Chuck (owner), and Art (lead mechanic) all took time to listen to my car's history. They spent many hours trouble shooting and problem solving. They didn't give up (even though they hit several walls and could've sent me away). They kept me informed throughout the process and never acted annoyed when I called for details. They also matched part prices that I found elsewhere and replaced a few small things (break light, thermostat) for free. On top of all of that, they are very pleasant and easy to work with. I totally agree with Ana Marie and Padi R. -- Chuck Mercier's 76 is an outstanding service station and very neighborly. Unlike other repair shops, they treated me like a respected human being and not an ATM. In fact, the staff at Chuck Mercier's 76 treated me like a friend and for that I will be back. If you want gas, go here. If you want your car checked out to find any and all possible things that could be wrong with it, go here. If you want your car fixed--don't go here. My mom used to take her car here and every time she got it back there was some part--a hose or a something like it--sitting in the backseat that wasn't there when she brought it in. They always insisted it was. I brought my car here after I failed smog as they were part of a state sponsored discount program. They checked it out, gave me an estimate upwards of $1600 and said the discount wasn't applicable in this situation. I took it to my usual guy who fixed the problem for $350. My girlfriend stopped going here after they changed her battery four times in four years with no warranty because her "car just goes through batteries." (the employee's words exactly, "your car just goes through batteries.") Sorry, I know they been here forever but I just don't trust them for more than gas. And even that's sketchy since they're at an awful intersection--you take your life in your hands getting in and out of that place. read more

I took my car here because I needed to pass the Smog Check and they were one of the only CAP (Consumer Assistance Program) places open the day before a trip to NYC. I checked them out online. Their customer feedback seemed solid. My experience with them was not as satisfactory. They did get my car to pass the Smog Check without making me pay more than the mandatory $100 copay, and I was pleased with that, but here's where they went wrong: 1) they broke the inside driver's door handle off 2) they gave me some spurious list of car problems and 3) the quotes for the said problems were specious at best. They offered me no compensation or credit for braking my door handle. Talking to a messenger at work who knows his way around a car, I learned that the repair quotes were further from the truth than I had originally thought (i'm not a car guy). Turns out the $800 quote for the door handle and brake lights could actually be fixed by cheaply purchasing some parts at Auto Zone ($10 for the door handle, $10 for the brake part) and then paying my messenger pal in IN-N-OUT food to install them. This costed me under $30 and was done in 30 minuets with a pocket-knife screw driver and flash light. What has this taught me? Even mechanics who are well-regarded online (how else to we determine merit these days?) are still scam-artists (is it just inherent to being successful in the trade?) and it pays to know somebody who knows about cars who is himself as penurious as you are. read more

These guys really saved the day for me, and I am grateful for the service they rendered. I went to them because my car needed repairs to get smog certified, and AAA has them listed as a CAP station. They took me in the same day, checked it all out, told me exactly what was needed, and how they would use CAP. Only problem was, CAP did not cover all expenses, so Shawn told me about VRRRM (pronounced "vroom") which is another way to cover smog certification expenses. It worked well in my case, in conjunction with CAP. No one else outside of this station had ever breathed a word of the existence of that program to me, so this makes him a hero! He promptly helped me attain said coverage, and then he and Garry and others fixed my car as quickly as could be managed by the next day. They were wonderful, and I genuinely appreciate all they did to get my car smog certified and safely rolling again! Want a repair station with trustworthy people who will really help you? Let me preface this by saying I have come here for tire issues twice and both times I received excellent, fast service. As someone who drives a lot, I have instant dread whenever an indicator light switches on. This time, it was my low tire pressure. I pulled up to the 76 self-service air machine per usual and it just so happened that Gabriel was opening up the garage--earlier than the 8am advertised opening hour--and walking by to turn on the air for the shop. Without hesitation, he guided me to the garage instead, saying he'd be happy to help. Thank god he did. Not only did he find the culprit tire that had low pressure, he also found three nails. As someone who isn't car mechanics savy, I usually attribute low pressure to a "weather change" or "drop in temperature." I 100% would not have seen those nails on my own and I 100% would have filled up the low tire and drove on. Who knows what kind of unsafe predicament I would have been in with what could have resulted in a blown out tire. So, that brings me back to the service. Within 15 minutes, Gabriel brought me in, discovered the problem tire, discovered the nails, explained the process to me, dismantle my tire, safely removed the nails, plugged them up, reassembled the tire onto my car, and checked all the other tires. I have been coming to this gas station for the last 27 years. I own a 1990 Chevy Suburban with approximately 500,000 miles on it. And a Ford F 250, Super Duty Crew Cab with 300,000 miles on it. They are excellent and taking care of your vehicle 100%. They have extremely knowledgeable people working there. And keep my vehicles running top notch. I had the misfortune of losing some bolts as I backed up my parking spot around the front wheel on a Sunday at the nearby supermarket, so the car hardly move. I towed the car the nearest place after calling them. From then on it was misery. The gentleman at the gas station was very friendly and said they would put the bolts back on. The next day a guy with curt language said they would look at it. He called me back a few times with an angry tone, and said whatever I was told the day before was not true, that I was driving without a front wheel spindle!!!! Lol. He said he needed to get me a new spindle, quoted me some $500 just for the part, and including labor some $1,500. He said to come get my car and take it somewhere else. I was trapped. In hindsight I wish I had taken it somewhere else. What was supposed to be a $100 bill turned into a major cash pain. When he was done he called me and said it was $2,200. That's worth more than my car's value. If I had taken it elsewhere I would have saved a lot of money, if I had taken it to the dealership I would have saved at least half. This is my go-to mechanic, and I've been using them for over ten years, even after I moved from Van Nuys to Palmdale. Yes, I'm willing to drive 60 miles just to have these guys look at my car. I've had no problems with them trying to rip me off or suggesting repairs that weren't necessary -- quite the opposite, in fact. They'll let you know what's essential and what can wait, rather than just trying to sell you on every service available. If you go in, ask for Gabriel. He's friendly and knowledgeable, and he'll take good care of you. Plus, he looks like Ryan Gosling. The service station was a life saver! We were no more than 5-10 miles into a 350 mile drive up north when our low tire pressure light came on. We pulled off at Burbank, stopped here, added air and were dismayed to find a screw in my tire. Thankfully, the service station was able to patch it right away! No need to go to a tire shop. And the gentleman who helped us was so incredibly nice. From the moment we saw the screw to to getting back on the rod was about 10 minutes (including the amount of time we panicked on yelp looking for a tire shop before thinking to ask here!). My teenaged son had an accident right in front of this 76 station - an accident that was not his fault, but the other party was claiming it WAS. The employees at 76 were kind and courteous, allowing us to temporarily park the vehicles during the dispute and police presence. Then, they told us they had video footage of the entire accident - proving that the other party was lying and making an illegal turn, causing the whole accident. They quickly got us the copy {for a small fee} of the accident footage {they have 16 cameras there} and were kind and compassionate to us. Helen even saw the accident and was our witness to what really happened. What great folks that work here! I'll be back to get any future cars smogged and any work for our Toyotas! read more

Wanted to write an overdue review of Chuck Mercier's Union 76 Auto Service. Late last December 2015, near the holidays, I had to quickly pass a smog check for my Honda Civic. It failed and Chuck the owner, who's worked on cars and in car service for most of his life, was leaving the next day on a family trip. Before his trip, he and his mechanics clearly explained what required to pass the smog test and repaired my car with a passed smog check the next day. All of the gas station service attendants and mechanics were friendly, helpful, professional, explained what was needed be fixed and even answered a lot of questions. I recommend this service station based on my experience of excellent service with integrity. I plan to have my car service done there in the future. read more

Been using these guys to service my cars for the last twenty years. They have always been awesome. But this week exceeded expectations!! Art found something wrong on the car , gas mixing with oil or something like that, that the sensors weren't picking up. As it is a newer car he thought this issue was under warranty and we should call dealer, he wouldn't even let us drive the car! Dealer came picked it up, ran tests, and said car was fine. It's very rare that someone angers me enough to make me head straight to Yelp. I get gas here a lot as it is conveniently located. I pulled into the 76 station to get gas on a Thursday afternoon and noticed that they also do oil changes. I need an oil change but I'm short on cash, however I have a 76 card and thought, "Oh Awesome! I I can use my 76 card!" The guy working the service station - Taylor - was very nice and said that they were too busy just then to change my oil. I asked if I could make an appointment and come back. He said of course, opened up their calendar for the next day which was TOTALLY BLANK and said - what time do you want to come in? I said, "Does noon work?" and he said yes and wrote down my information. I arrived at noon on the dot and was told it would be an hour for them to change my oil (this sounded like a long time to me, as I'm used to going to Jiffy Lube where you are in and out in 20 minutes WITHOUT an appointment) and Taylor recommended several places nearby to spend the hour. I had an errand that I could walk to the mall for, so I headed out. At 1pm I returned to pick up my car only to be told that THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL ON THEIR LUNCH BREAK and that it would be ANOTHER HOUR to work on my car. Issues with this BS customer service: I would have come at 11am or 1pm or even 3pm IF SOMEONE HAD SAID, "Oh, sorry - noon to 1 is our lunch break" OR if when I dropped off my car at noon and I was told it would be TWO HOURS - I would have just left, but instead these guys WASTED AN HOUR OF MY DAY and intended to take up two of them. Just ridiculous and insulting. Why was it necessary to lie to my face? The worst offenders are people who smile to your face and than stab you in the back the moment you turn around. I'm done getting gas here too - there are several other 76 gas stations in the area and they will now have my patronage. read more

As a gas station, I didn't have any issues. The cashiers have always been friendly. For auto repair, it's a completely different story. My car broke down and this was the nearest spot to tow my car to. They told me my radiator needs to be replaced and engine head gasket was cracked. The radiator definitely needed to be replaced, but I wasn't quite sure about the head gasket because they told me they didn't do a compression test. I had to get my car towed all the way to the mechanic I usually use and he ran tests and found nothing wrong with my head gasket. I've been driving my car for over a month since then and I haven't had any overheating issues. The mechanics here wanted to charge me over $1,500 for this repair. They told me this would take 7 HOURS for labor. This is upsetting since I had to pay them $115 for them to inspect my car then I had to get my car towed somewhere else just so I could get a better price. I'm not sure what going here, but I don't feel that they are honest. I ended up paying around $300 to replace my radiator elsewhere. That's a huge difference from the $1,500+ that these guys wanted to charge me. read more
