I don't know what ppl see in this place. It is not good. Not authentic in any way. Everything tastes like it came out of can. The chips are the first dead give away. Thin and stale and the salsa is just a blob of pico sitting in watery juice. The tortillas are handmade but when they get to ur table, you get the ones that have been sitting for awhile then reheated and they crumble and split. The fajitas are dry and the beans just taste funny and don't even look good. The rice taste like the one u can pick up a grocery store and make for a dollar. And last the sopapillas were all dough and chewy with big pebbles of cinnamon on top. That was the worst for me. I will prob never go to this place...ever. read more

Went for the first time recently, it was OK but nothing great. Chicken burrito was decent but they use white meat, it was dry. Same for the chicken enchiladas. My son liked his steak fajitas. Rice and beans were decent, but again, nothing amazing. It was a little noisey for my taste, though I guess it doesn't bother a lot of folks, parking lot always seems full. It might be the location of our table, where that section had a really low ceiling. Service was good, but overall, for the quality of food, I think I would just prefer a self service type place for a lot less money. read more

I've been in search for some really good salsa in Plano. Based on the reviews I gave Chuy's a try. I wasn't impressed. I ordered the Salsa Fresca and I was disappointed. Lime lime lime and more lime is all I tasted. I can get this at the local grocery store. If the salsa isn't good the food won't be either. First time I ordered here, there won't be a second time. July 2019 I had a party of 15 that called at 4 to make a reservation and was told they don't accept reservations. They told me to show up at 6:00 to be seated by 6:30. We showed up at 6:00. We got seated at 7:58, 1 hr 58 min later. We checked status 5 times as we watched many people be seated in the meantime. This is not an acceptable time to wait and we will not return. The manager, Sam, did not understand how to prioritize the customer wait list resulting in an unsatisfactory situation. Very sad that such a popular place can't figure out how to accommodate. August 2019 I returned since we received a voucher for 2 free meals after our last bad experience. I was hoping the manager would have made some changes in the hostess/seating operations to prevent a recurrence however processes have not improved. I arrived at 5 pm on a Sunday evening with a party of 5 and was immediately told we had a 45 min wait with absolutely no one seated in the waiting area. I looked around to see no one visibly waiting and asked if I heard them correct that it would be a 45 min wait and yes that's what they said. Once we finally got to eat, we were disappointed in the food we had always loved. The flour tortillas were doughy, fajita meat was dry, and service was slow (but he was nice). We are sad to say that after 2 consecutive negative experiences, we won't be returning. Fortunately, we have lots of Tex-mex options in this area. read more

First visit in a LONG time, was very impressed with the food this time around. My boyfriend had the chicken enchiladas and myself the Pablo's green chili's enchiladas , Really enjoyed our meal. Our server Shantel was very friendly and attentive, kudos to her. Only downside of our experience was the chicken was a bit dry and my enchiladas weren't as spicy as I was lead to believe HOWEVER Shantel did offer to bring extra side of green chili's. Ate here a week or so ago during the Hatch Chili festival. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I have to say the sauce on my burrito was pretty tasty. It was hot, but not too hot. The queso is awesomely good. I could eat that for a meal. The green chile stew wasn't so much a stew as it was broth and the chile sauce with vegetables thrown in before service. That was a little disappointing. Service was really meh. We waited several minutes before being greeted. We had already wolfed down our chips and had not seen our waitress, had no drinks, and no silver-ware. So that was frustrating. Service seemed to drag thru the whole meal. Aside from that we enjoyed the food and will probably be back. But given how long we waited for a table, and how long we waited for service it probably will not be on a weekend. read more

I think I finally found a place where my boyfriend can get his Tex-Mex craving satisfied that I enjoy as well. Started off with a Father Agave margarita. How could you not order a drink with a name like that? It's made with Don Julio and Grand Marnier. Um, why yes, I'll have another. Chips and salsa were good. For my entree, I had the baja fish tacos with creamy jalapeno which were delicious. My boyfriend had the green chile tacos, they were very tasty but a bit spicy. We came here during the week and fortunately, there wasn't a wait. I haven't been here sooner because it seems like every time I drive by there's a rather large group of people waiting outside. I've been eating at Chuy's locations for nearly 20 years and it is my favorite Tex-Mex in the state. Note that is different from just plain Mexican food. I've tried this location 8 times, including a visit the night before my wife and I went to deliver our baby and our first restaurant trip with the baby (ended up in the same booth!). Get there early, as it's always crowded. This location does not have the weekend brunch, but I think that may have been phased out across this Austin-originating chain. There are so many great items on the menu. Some suggestions... Ask for the free creamy jalapeno dip (ranch dressing with finely diced jalapenos - Note that it seems to be consistently hotter at this location than other Chuy's locations. Great Queso Panchos Chuy's Special Enchiladas The frozen margaritas, especially the regular with strawberry dot - my favorite frozen margarita Chuychanga Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas (spicy, but not too much) Southwestern Enchiladas (spicy) Deluxe Chicken Enchiladas (mild) #4 with a cheese relleno + green chile sauce or deluxe tomatillo and deluxe chicken enchilada Also try the sopapillas, they're great! Last time I went I was very happy and liked it a lot... but that was about 6 or 8 months ago. Today was not so great. The top shelf margarita I had expected to be better and maybe a little more. Without the ice it would have been less than a glass of wine and cost much more. The nachos were light and crispy and probably the best in our dining experience today. The salsa tastes good and spicy, although it was very dry on the top half, as if the little dish had been prepped a while ago and just stood with all the juice on the bottom. Had the Appetizer Plate - the chicken in the flautas was quite bland, the nachos... I don't know... looked like pizza slices, i.e. crispy flat tortillas cut in half topped with some stuff... the quesadilla pieces not too great either and the chile con queso was so lala. Maybe because my plate was quite cold when it came to the table and the queso had skinned over quite a bit. Not very appetizing. My kid had chicken nuggets and fries. The chicken nuggets were no nuggets like the menu said, but fried chicken strips. No objection from my part, because it was nice chicken meat. The fries however were very soggy. Granted that this is not exactly what you go to a Mexican Restaurant for and it's the kids menu, but hey... if you put it on your menu, I can at least expect some half way decent fries. Husband wasn't so happy with enchiladas, because he spent quite some time in the bathroom after we got home. I also thought that they had changed the menu quite a bit since I was there last time, but I could be wrong. I really don't think the food is great at Chuy's but there are some items that keep me coming back such as the Jalapeno Ranch. Yummy this is the best dressing ever. We always go and order a 16 or 32 oz. to keep at the house. Chips are really good as well - not too salty, really thin and crispy. I also love the chicken tortilla soup. They do not put a bunch of junk in it like some restaurants do. Only the basics - broth, chicken, corn, avocado, tortilla strips, cheese. If i go to Chuy's, it's for the beer-ritas. Out of the 4 times I have been there, I had one bad server. She seemed to be inconvenienced by our needs/wants. Classic Rex mex with a fun twist and some good variation. Many different side sauces to choose from. Beer is always cold. The chips and salsa is different as the salsa is chunkier more pico de gallo style. Interior is festively decorated. Staff is at tentative. They can get slammed so time your visit. read more

My first visit to the Plano branch of Chuy's, thus very interested in checking it out. Getting there was a bit of hassle. Plano has to have one of the most confusing and goofy on/off highway access systems in America. What is with those get off and do the loop-d-loop thing? And having Park and Parker as main streets so damn close to each other? Once we arrived at Chuy's we were given the obligatory shock the monkey coaster thing and told it would be 35 minutes, or longer and then told that the bar was self service only and basically a free for all for seating. Despite the warning, we found a seat (and then other) at the bar and ordered a drink and before we could order a second, our monkey was shocked and we were seated. Our waiter was very chatty. Wanting to be our friend chatty. Which was sort of awkward. Dude, I don't care about your reading list and how you feel about the IRS and the fact that you took your room mate to the back doctor and he is on disability for 2 months. We just waited in the bar for 30 minutes. We're hungry! He finally took our orders. Wife got the special which was bland in my opinion. Not that great. I ordered what I always order, the green chili stew which didn't disappoint. I wasn't given or ever offered any tortillas with it which I found odd. But otherwise, not that big of a deal and I'd say this Chuy's is much like the others I've visited. Service can be spotty, so I'm sure if I went another time it would or could be great. read more

Man, I have missed Chuy's. I ate at the site on Research Blvd in Austin weekly when I lived down south. Tonight, I had the #4 combo of Chile Relleno and Enchilada. I went with a chicken stuffed chile and cheese enchilada. Over both, I had them covered in the semi-spicy Tex-Mex sauce (chile gravy). Chuy's uses Anaheim instead of the traditional Poblano peppers used by many restaurants. I have to tip my hat to their selection in this case. The Anaheim was very tender and imparted a nice citrus counterpoint to the heavy cheese and chicken filling. The batter was an unusual combination of crunchy and substantial. I am here for a week in Allen, TX , so I will be back. read more

We have visited several Chuy's locations and I always loved to go there Margaritas are good and food is awesome but the last two visits the service has been aweful. My family of 5 waited 15 to be seated and 10 min to be asked what we wanted to drink. 5 min to get drinks and then a whole 10 min to get someone to take our order! Fantastic spot to get your fill of Mexican food. The place was bustling at 11:30 on a Thursday. Famous hatch green chili was in season, so I opted for one of the select specials, which was a chili releno, spinach enchilada with rice and beans. Everything was super tasty. Hatch salsa to add, served warm. So good. One less star since the guacamole was very bland, but the complementary chips and salsa were amazing and the chips were quickly replenished. The food is good and reasonably priced. The problem is the place is so popular that a long wait is almost guaranteed unless you arrive early. The thing that gets them 2 stars from me is the atmosphere. It is so loud in there. It's nearly impossible to have a conversation without shouting. What makes it even more frustrating is that they're aware of the problem. We made a comment to our server about the noise level, and he said it's pretty much always like that or even worse if you dine in the "hubcap" room. Obviously management doesn't care to do anything about the noise level because people are lined up to get in regardkess. Went in last night and sat at the bar. Bartender was unattentive at best. I started off with tortillas and butter and a Coke. Tortillas were delivered by someone else, and just dropped off and they were gone. I had no plate, napkins, or utensils. I waited for a bit with the bartender at the other end of the bar to check on me...nope! I left a few dollars and got up and left. Then I came back in and got his attention and asked him how much the drink was and he first said nothing, don't worry about it. Then he asked if I was going to sit at a table and I said no. I told him I got my tortillas with nothing to eat them on or with, as they're getting cold. He actually kind of laughed at me and then told me the drink was $3. I threw $3 at him and left. What an effing a-hole! Can't believe he actually charged me for the drink after what I just told him...which I'm sure he just pocketed and and didn't even ring it in, as per his attitude. This was on top of being there the night before, and my food being delivered wrong. However the bartender that night saw it and immediately sent it back and got it fixed. She was extremely attentive! Went to your Plano Texas location last night.....was horrible!!! We had a party of 10 for a birthday. All our food was COLD... not the salad for some reason the only food that should have been cold was hot! NONE of our drinks were refilled. We even made it easy for the server and all got ice tea!! Great service and always busy. I like the food I usually get a big burito or enchalatas. The only problems I have is the food is way to spicy for me I think it's the queso it had jalapeño chunks in it. And they have a nacho cart till 7 with free chips, salsa, and queso but it's inconvenient to squeeze threw the full tables and past the servers to get queso I wish the servers could just get it for you. If you get there after 7 the tinny bowl of queso is $3.50 witch is way over priced for the size. Over all it will be a regular place for me to eat still love it even it's spicy. read more

Great tex mex food. The Chile relleno is filled with chicken,beef or shrimp. They have the lightest most crispy tortilla chips. I usually don't try chips but Chuy's have the best. It's so light I think it will crumble if it's packaged. The resto is packed as early as 11 am even on weekday The strawberry Margarita is luscious. read more

CHEWY AT CHUY'S we arrived at around 7 pm. We were seated and decided to try their fajitas. The place was fairly busy and the service was spotty. The chips were cold and the salsa they brought was no more than pico. Once our fajitas arrived we had to ask for tortillas. When we finally got everything and i got my tortilla filled and ready to eat is when i discovered they were tuff as a boot. I suggest they charge more and buy good beef. My wife had cheese enchiladas and they were just ok. The beans and rice are served in a bowl together which i thought a bit strange. The wait staff seem like they are all competing as to who can dress the worst. They were all in shorts and bluejeans. Our waiters tennis shoes were just plain dirty. The place was packed and the service was decent...given the sheer number of customers. We waited 30 minutes to be seated and we had to wait a couple of times for drink refills. Hadn't been to a Chuy's since 1996 and that was on McKinney Ave in Dallas. This one in Plano hasn't been open too long, but they are working towards the standard they set at the Dallas location. No wait at 7 pm on a Monday night, place was busy though and about 95% full. Our waitress was very helpful explaining things to my sister, who used to think every Tex-mex place was spicy and all she could eat there was fajitas. Service was very good. Had the Cheese Quesadilla for an appetizer. Not bad. Salsa definitely adds some kick. I had the Steak Burrito for the entree and it was excellent. Had some rice and beans along with it as well as a cool spicy green chile sauce. Chips and salsa were constantly fresh as was the drinks. I have been a big fan of Chuy's since I first walked into the location in Houston, during grad school. This location does not disappoint. Great menu. Great service. My favorites are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Comida Deluxe; the latter always leads to leftovers, because it's freakin' gigantic. During their happy hours, they have a nacho bar with the usual fixings to include taco meat. My favorite trick there is to mix the queso and meat for a delicious dip...*drools* Finally, be sure to check them out around August during the hatch green chile festival when they have all sorts of great chile dishes (that's where the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom was born)! read more
