Been here a few times, absolutely love it. The chips and salsa they give you is very fresh. They also have some type of jalapeño ranch sauce they give you and it's very good too. An excellent waitress saved an otherwise BAD experience! First, no draft beer...this is the unforgivable sin! Second, we know some folks like spicy food but it would be NICE to be given a choice; our order was loaded with cilantro (half the population hates it) and Jalapenos ... we were given no options. My order (essentially a chicken burrito wrapped in a corn tortilla) wasn't bad but, again, I had to pick out the Jalapeno's. My wife's beef burrito was okay also...but frankly, we've had better and less expensive Mexican food from local establishments. This was not my first time visiting Chuy's, but it was my first time that I had visited this location- typically I visit the Kenwood location. My family and I LOVE Chuy's, so I thought it would be a great place to take my dad for his birthday. We had a wait, which was completely understandable, as we were a walk in party of 11 on a Friday night. The wait wasn't long at all, and they quoted us exactly right! Once we sat down, it took awhile for our server to get to us. A neighbor server came by and brought us chips while we waited (very nice!). Once she came, we had been sitting for about 10 minutes, we ordered our drinks. Another 15 minuets went by, and she finally brought our drinks back. When we tried to order our friend a drink, who was on his way, we were notified that we weren't allowed to order more than one drink- strange but ok. It took another 30 minutes of us staring waiting to see our server again to take our order. We waited quite long for our food... an hour to be exact. Within that time, we attempted to order more drinks, with a half a beer left and not sure when we would see our server again, we ordered another we were told that she has to wait til it's like 2 inches from the bottom to order another... strange also. We hadn't gotten food yet, and half the table being about 4 beers deep, we were told we hit our alcohol limit and couldn't order anymore alcohol. No one in the party had ever heard of these rules at Kenwood. Not sure if it's a strict store specific alcohol policy. We finally got food, and ate. It was very clear that our server was overwhelmed. My assumption is she was new, and trying to get the hang of things. Tables turned 3 times around us before we even ate, the table next to us got up and left after 10 minutes of no one even greeting them. We're a large party, I expect it to an extent.. but this trip was a little extreme. I saw the manager come and help one time. He was bringing chips out to the table that was leaving after not being helped, clearly upset and all the manager did was say "oh sorry". After that I watched him walk to the back and buddy up with some of the workers, continuing to just chat instead of help. While this is going on, our server has been gone with our checks for 20 minutes. Really bummed at this lack of management, knows his team is struggling and chose to chit chat!! Chuy's, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love your Jalapeno Ranch that you have to ask for and is fabulous to dip into with your perfectly ultra-thin tortilla chips. I love thy tomatillo deluxe sauce poured generously over my steak burrito that is creamy, slightly tangy and so delicious. I love thy steak in your burritos- so tender, cut in larger chunks with subtle char and grilled smoke flavor and actually tasting like STEAK. I love thy guacamole because of its perfect simplicity and fresh flavor. I love you for the choice of ten sauces so my food can be perfect for my quirky tastes and what's old can be new with a different sauce. I love thy restaurant decor - uniquely decorated in each location. I love thy atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. Why didn't we meet sooner? I'm very picky, i don't like overly "Americanized" cuisine when visiting a Latin restaurant! As a lover of Chuy's, I was delighted to find out that one had popped up in this area. Our wait wasn't too bad... just twenty minutes during a Sunday lunch rush. Always have to order the creamy jalapeño sauce... so good! My entree was the comida deluxe... a crunchy beef taco, two nachos, beans, rice, and some cheese onion enchiladas. Some of their entrees at Chuy's can be hit or miss... mine was definitely a hit! Someone else at my table ordered the steak fajitas for two. Seriously, I was jealous. Dinnertime was packed Wednesday night with a 50-minute wait, but we hovered by the bar sipping happy hour margaritas and snagged two chairs within 10 minutes. Visiting during happy hour (4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday) is a steal with $5.50 small margaritas or $8 for a large plus the all-you-can-eat nacho bar with queso, beans, salsa and some other options. This Chuy's was at a disadvantage since I'm fresh off a trip to Austin, Texas, and was spoiled by amazing Tex-Mex for a week straight. I ordered the shrimp chiles rellenos with green chile salsa, which came in an enormous, piping hot portion with refried beans and rice, but just wasn't as good as down south. However, I'd still order them again. The beef soft tacos were seriously lacking in flavor -- I'd say on par with Taco Bell. I say that with all due respect for Taco Bell's fourth meal options, but at about $10 per meal Chuy's tacos should stand out more. Food was delicious and fresh. Portions are generous so I suggest meal sharing. I was told I HAD to try the creamy jalapeno dip for the chips. You have to to try it- amazing! I've never been to a Chuys before but I am so shocked at how much I loved it!! Apparently they just opened a few weeks ago, but you couldn't tell. It was a great meal. First the good - although their spice scale can vary, Chuy's fresh housemade salsa is some of the best salsa I've ever had...oftentimes I'll swing by and get takeout of chips and salsa. Another good thing is their weekday happy hour with a complimentary items like chips and salsa, chili con queso, and other basic appetizer items. Give them some love by buying a Dos Equis or two and you can easily fill up on apps. Not that the guac was bad, because it was actually pretty good. But they put their guac in a bowl half filled with lettuce. So not only do they try to trick you into thinking you're getting more guac than you do but by putting it on lettuce they make it impossible to scoop up all of it (unless you want a guac and lettuce salad.) The biggest issue for me is the staff. The hostesses are very unfriendly and the wait staff tend to be the same. The chips and pico were fresh and our food came fairly quickly. I split the veggie enchiladas with a friend because we weren't that hungry, and it fed the both of us well. However, the menu listed that I would get guacamole, but it didn't come out on the plate, and I did not receive it after asking for it again. The shirts posted out in the lobby that you can purchase are funny though - clever Tex-Mex sayings aligned with Star Wars or other pop culture references.
