Im not one to not tip even with bad service becuz others like the bus boy and dishwasher may rely on the tip as well so I did but becuz it was so over priced I had to also leave a $70 tip. it left me feeling ripped off. We had dinner in a party of 7 and were promptly seated at a comfortable table/booth to the side, where it was calmer. To me, the most important element of dining is service and the service was excellent and welcoming from hostess to head waiter to all other wait staff. The menu was explained well and patiently, as he had to explain a particular dish twice at different times. The food was served at a good pace. Chopsticks were offered, silverware was replaced and the table cleaned at several intervals between courses. We ordered so many dishes and while all were very good, we particularly enjoyed the fresh fig and mint appetizer, charred Spanish octopus (so tender!), panna cotta with berries, kampachi, and beef tartare. The romaine salad, fritto misto, crab spaghetti, rigatoni bolognese, and twice-baked potatoes were also very good. The cino pinwheel was sooo rich that we needed only a few bites each, so that one was shared and the leftovers taken home. The special pasta with foam was also quite tasty, but there was so much "meat" that I ran out of pasta! The filet mignon was great--very nicely seasoned. I have been wanting to come here for awhile but we just never made it. Finally my husband made reservations for my birthday dinner. First impression - what a wide range of customers from a party of really elderly seniors and what looked like some women out on the prowl and everyone in between (although my son commented that he was the only kid, which he was). It looked like a popular date spot as I noticed a lot of tables for two. We had reservations so we were seated immediately. All of the drink options did not sound exciting to me but if nothing suits your fancy, they do have beer. My husband and I both ordered a Peroni. I think the hardest part was figuring out which entree to get and which appetizers NOT to get. We got the Fritto Misto (delicious - very light and crisp!), charred Spanish octopus (good but not great), bread (not on the menu but it had different types of bread - would get again), and kampachi (so good and a decent size too!). For entrees we got - beet salad (I got this as my entree, which was good because we ordered so many appetizers), my son got the butterfish (he wasn't a huge fan), and my husband got the ribeye (he liked it but I thought it had a weird taste) along with the crispy garlic potatoes (would not get again... they were neither crispy or garlicky) and the roasted cauliflower (really good, would get again). Since it was my birthday dinner, they gave me a free panna cotta (SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!). I would get it again even if I had to pay for it. For the service, our waitress was on it for the water refills. She had to refill it a lot because we were all drinking a lot of water. The appetizers came out very quickly but there was at least a 45 minute wait for our entrees to come out. Our waitress was very generous and comped our butterfish and ribeye so it was worth the wait. She did say it was because the head chef was out (his wife was having a baby - congrats!). Overall, I'd definitely come back but only to get the appetizers. I didn't see any entree that struck my fancy which was also why I got that beet salad (I love beets but it was not that good). Service was on point so that was nice to see. read more

Cino is a very trendy restaurant that we decided to try out for my mother's 73rd birthday. I ordered for the table as we decided to eat family style and I was going based of a video review I had seen on IG. We had ordered the Fritto Misto, closest thing I could get to calamari. It was good but it had more vegetables than calamari, probably would've been fantastic if it was just calamari like other restaurants. For the entrees, I ordered the Cino Pinwheel, the IG review said it was life changing. It was delicious but it wasn't big enough to share family style so it didn't change my life, I think it changed my 5 year old's life cause she kept asking for more so I took my bite and gave her the rest. Next up, the ribeye, had to get this for my husband and the table, he orders it everywhere we go. This was good like any other steakhouse, cooked medium rare and great crusting, this was enough to share. Also ordered the pork chop, this was delicious also, wished it was bigger to share. The side we ordered was the crispy garlic potatoes and broccolini. The crispy garlic potatoes was flavorful, a little too salty for me but everyone else on the table loved it. We didn't order dessert from them, my mom was craving cheesecake from Red Lobster, but they did bring her a slice of a dessert, I believe it was tiramisu, which we all shared. For parking, we used valet at one of the nearby condo's. I took away a star due to there only being 1 restroom per gender, but I did hear there was a restroom out back as a father had to take his "shi shi dancing" daughter right away. The service was good, the ambience is upscale and good for date night. Not sure if the table for 2 is big enough for date night if you're a foodie. In addition, we ordered the crab spaghetti without the sea urchin. Everything was delicious. We did have their house-made Tiramisu which was nice. Love the decor and the transparency of the server who explained that he could tell us what was popular but wanted to discuss dishes that we were interested in. He also let us know there were other desserts available but were sourced out. As the restaurant got busier, we were somewhat forgotten and had to request our bill after waiting for a while. I wanted to love this place. It's close. Menu is wonderful. Drawbacks: it's ridiculously loud. It's overly lit; so bright. And, it's very expensive. But just for specific dishes. Veal Parmesan is $88. Spiny lobster $115. That being said, the food was delicious. It's well prepared, ample and beautifully presented. We had amazing service; attentive and friendly. Will I go again? Probably. But, I will sit outside. The noise and lighting made dinner unpleasant. The crab spaghetti was on point. If this place wants to last, I suggest some changes. This place was AWESOME. It really gave me fun Vegas vibes. Cook interior and music loud enough to sing and do a happy dance in your seat. We really wanted to love this place, as we live right across the street! It is nicely done on the inside. We held off on trying it because of the pricey menu, but decided to give it a go for my birthday. We ordered to go, three dishes: veal osso bucco, butternut squash ravioli (wanted the campanelle but they were out) and rigatoni bolognese. The food was really good, the flavors were right, but the portions were SO small for the price. We are two adults who eat "average" sized portions and we were both still hungry after sharing these THREE dishes. For $30, I would expect a pasta dish to be filling and even possibly have leftovers. The osso bucco was $58 and just came with some saffron rice, no veggies. Again, the flavors and preparation were spot on but we cannot justify spending $$$$ for such small portions. Our server Dylan was knowledgeable in matching certain sides based on what we ordered (and he was on point). The food was amazing. All in, we spent approximately $400 and things were going well for 1 1/2 hours.....Then we were asked to leave our small table for another group to seat there. Major fail ! I had a great time eating at Cino for the first time. The food was good, I enjoyed the double spiced baked potato the most. The service was fast in the beginning but it slowed down as it got busier. It us awhile to close our tab but fortunately we have the option to settle our bill through the phone. The ambience is different than anywhere in Honolulu. The only thing that I would suggest the restaurant to improve is the tiramisu. Some of the ladyfinger was still dry and hard, should be soaked in the espresso longer. The restaurant was nice enough to comped our Tiramisu.Other than that I had a great time dinning at Cino. read more

This was such an amazing find! My bf and I was in Honolulu for a work trip for me, which also landed on my birthday weekend so it was perfect. We wanted to celebrate with a nice dinner together before going home and had planned to go to a steakhouse, but stumbled upon Cino instead. We decided to give it a try because everything sounded so amazing, and wanted to try something else instead of a usual steakhouse for celebrations. We are so glad we did because everything we had was so delicious. We started with drinks, and beef tartare (which I forgot to take a picture of) and oysters of the day (Kumamoto, my faves). Entrees we got the beef cheeks which were so absolutely tender and just melted, and paired perfectly in that sauce and the cauliflower purée to balance out all the flavors. We also had a squid ink pasta which was so good too. We used the bone marrow from the beef cheeks and mixed it into the pasta instead of eating it with the beef cheeks. I also normally don't like tomato based pastas, but this was really well done. We ended with some more drinks and tiramisu, which I never order but it seemed like every table around us got it so we gave it a try and it was so yummy! Perfect end to the meal. Service was excellent as well, our water was never empty and they made sure to check up on us throughout the meal. I've got high hopes for this new restaurant! Our server told us they'd just been open for three weeks when we went a week and a half ago! The interior is also really well decorated and modern. Seating area itself is small, so I could imagine once they're more well known, the wait might be long! And it is kind of hidden, but if you take a taxi or ride share and get dropped off in front of the hotel, just walk around the corner and it's the shop all the way at the end. read more

Unfortunately, our table did not have a great experience. We were seated very quickly and ordered about 5-10 minutes after sitting down. We waited at least 30 minutes before the first appetizer was served. None of our food was served at the same time so we had to wait as some people did not receive their food for another 15-20 minutes. Two of our drinks were very watered down and seemed to have been sitting for awhile. One of the main dishes was served cold even though it took the longest to come out. The squid ink pasta was very mild in flavor and a bit underwhelming. The stars of the show were the two side dishes - potatoes. For the price point, we expected more. Julia, our server, was great. She continuously apologized for the wait and ended up comping us for two starters. Unfortunately, this was not enough to compensate for the rest of the evening. The Pappardelle and Agnolotti were very good and the Cino Pinwheel of house made pasta with cream, butter sauce and shaved black truffles was fantastic. Our server JR made us feel as if we were his regulars (this was our first time at Cino) It was so obvious that JR is passionate about Cino, serving and the diner's experience. Eating at Cino in and of itself would be a great time but having JR serve you elevates the entire experience. He welcomed us, explained the story behind Cino and explained the menu to us with recommendations (which made it very hard to chose because everything he recommended sounded like something I wanted to try) He never rushed us and his timing and attention were perfect. It was truly a pleasure for my girlfriend and I to be seated in his section. We have dined at a few other fine dining restaurants and JRs service exceeds them all. The entire night we felt as if we were just as important as other parties, even those spending more money than us. Everything was absolutely delicious. We had the fritto misto and crispy rice as our appetizers, both tasty and we loved that the crispy rice didn't fall apart once you bite into it. My girlfriend had English pea agnolotti which I got to taste and it was delicious and I had the New York strip which was cooked to perfection. We finished with the panna cotta which, to no surprise, was also a very delicious and well presented dish. Cino is a very energetic and beautifully decorated dining room. We were fortunate to be seated by the raw bar/kitchen and we could see how passionate the chefs were. Everything they plated was thoughtful amazing looking. Cino is amazing on all levels. The food, most importantly, is excellent. Best oysters I've had on Oahu to date. They had kumamotos that day with a delicious vinaigrette. Beet salad was beautiful. Crab spaghetti is my favorite. I could eat this every single day. Freshly made pasta with uni and real crab. They had branzino too, which reminded me of Avra's in nyc. The crispy garlic potatoes are perfect to share - they must sprinkle a little crack in the seasoning. So good. I'm hungry again just writing about this meal. All the dishes are family style too so perfect to go with friends and try everything. Service is excellent, even with the packed restaurant. And the vibe is so festive and fun. He was friendly, fast, and knew the menu inside and out! He was great. The GM Justin was super welcoming and amazing! He was at the front greeting each guest. Now to the food, it was AMAZING! Cino has been a great addition to the neighborhood, where there's a lack of good Italian food. Food Apps - favorites are the Fritto Mist, Beef Tartare and the Octopus. Pastas - This is definitely the best part of the menu and where Cino shines. Absolute favorite is the Crab Spaghetti, but can't go wrong with any of them (have had them all!). Entrees - Usually have a Branzino special which is excellent. Veal Parm special was also excellent. Beef dishes like the NY strip, and the chicken (dry) aren't bad but not our favorites. Dessert - Tiramisu is excellent. Service is a real highlight of Cino. Staff are all experienced and friendly. JR and Dylan on service are great. As is Christine, the host. Bartenders serve up some good drinks and overall good selection at the bar. Inside it's a really nice place. Just wish it was a little quieter. Can be hard to have a conversation, especially in the main dining room. read more
