Worst Italian food I've ever eaten. The puttanesca sauce was a mess of extremely spicy tomatoes with garlic and very little olives and capers. The olives were sliced California black olives and nothing close to an authentic Italian olive. The pasta was not tossed in the sauce but was lumped in a bowl and the "sauce" poured over it. The Vongole bianco tasted like it was a sauce made from chicken broth and black pepper, over powered with far too much black pepper and no indication that any wine was used. Like the puttanesca, the pasta was lumped into a bowl and the sauce poured over it. I'm Italian, lived in Italy and they should be ashamed to call their food "Italian". The best part was when a server attempted to "school" me on what puttanesca was. He sadly failed. read more

A little disappointed in Ciro's. Not as good as I had hoped. Service was adequate but not great. Our waiter (won't name him but rhymes with Gopher) seemed distracted. I never got offered another drink or refill. The food was okay. I had the special veal with eggplant and it was tasty. My side of pasta was slightly undercooked. My friend said his veal was just okay. The cannoli was good but not great. Don't know that we would return. read more

After many years of visiting Provincetown we finally made our way to Ciro and Sal's. it was worth the wait.Upon arrival in the courtyard we asked the hostess to take our picture, such a beautiful welcoming entrance, subtly lit with white bulbs, other diners enjoying their outdoor seating yet privately located away from the foot traffic of Commercial Street. We were then escorted to our seats at the bar, a rustic and comfortable spot. The bartender mixed a perfect Cosmo and poured the coldest beer for us. Wife had a huge fresh seafood dish and me, the lasagna. She raved about the perfect cooked dish! Me, not so much on the lasagna, I think I got a corner piece from maybe the night before as the pasta was almost hard, and the dish was barely warm. Going to take one star away for that. Otherwise, our experience was excellent. We love sitting at the bar and meeting interesting people. We will return and I'll order something different from the menu. I've been here twice over the last year because a good friend loves this place. Everyone seem to love it and I can't understand why. It's clear they are skating by on a long history rather than continuing to uphold thier quality. We had a party of 7 and a sizable bill and they utterly refused to take one person's (in his words) inedible chicken dish off the bill or offer to replace it when he said it wasn't good. I've never been anywhere that didn't bend over backwards to fix an issue like this. They said "the chef thinks it's fine".... Well the chef is not the person playing is s/he? The adage "unhappy customer will tell 10 people about the poor service he or she received" is apt here. Also the oysters were not great, and dishes varied wildly within the groups - great Alfredo but muddy and sort of gross veal Marsala . Great artichokes and zucchini, but terrible chicken and a couple other dishes. Lovely atmosphere outside in their garden space but inside its very dated and claustrophobic. Bartender didn't know to make a G&T in a highball glass (but in a water goblet) a bartender who didn't know how to make a G&T should find another job. Maybe we should take Sal hint and try the place he left Ciro & Sals to start in the West End (Sal's Place) instead ? read more

I've wanted to eat here for years and it didn't live up to the hype. We sat outside under a gazebo that felt like we were in New Orleans, beautiful and the best part of the evening. Our party of 3 was sat at a table clearly meant for 2 and was crowded before anything we ordered had arrived. Starting with the insalata mista which was overdressed and soggy. Our meals came out before I had dented my salad and the bread we requested came after that, all in a span of about 20 minutes so we felt very rushed at our overcrowded table. The linguini with clams was slathered in parsley and oil and hardly any garlic or butter so that was disappointing. The veal parm and spaghetti with meatballs were ok but we've had better elsewhere. The bread was dry and bland. What I was hoping to be a stellar meal was meh. We enjoyed talking to the party next to us but overall the service was too rushed and the food was mediocre. The hidden patio setting was very nice and quiet, with no loud music or noise from patrons, even though the dining area was full. Our cocktails were great. We both had pastas, one was a shrimp scampi and the other featured calamari in a cream sauce. Both were excellent, as was the Tiramisu. Our wait person was attentive and efficient. Beautiful terrace but average food! The service was okay, but it was a little hostile. The food was ok; all the pastas were very dry, and if I am not wrong, all of them were spaghetti, which had been cooked in a batch and served with a very minimal amount of sauce, depending on your order. The marsala dishes were over seasoned and the salads were just ok. We had a great time with each other but the food left nothing good to remember. It's one of the most renowned restaurants in town and it was sad that it was such a letdown. read more

We have been going to Ciro and Sals since the 70s. it's our go to place when we have large, family gatherings...and a real special warm call shout out to German Vaida from Argentina.. He took care of 21 of us and his attention to service was spectacular and his knowledge of wines and everything else was great. We had a great time. read more

More like zero and sals. We had a reservation for 8:45 outside for a birthday party, they called 3 hours before and asked us to move it to 8 for inside which we did not want to do but complied. They made us wait 25 min for our table once we got there. Our waitress was inattentive, we would have ordered multiple rounds of drinks if she ever came back to the table. We had to ask for bread. She table touched maybe twice the whole 2 hours we were there. read more
