I had city cellar on my list for a while so me and my friends decided to meet there for a lunch. When we arrived we weren't sure where to park but we found this parking garage near us and it seemed to be free and walking distance. When we arrived it was surprisingly empty around lunch time but it was MLK day and I'm assuming people normally come in the evenings for drinks with the skyline behind. We looked through the menu, as a vegetarian it seemed very much like typical American food with not too many veggie options. I opted to do two of the brusettas and we shared the sriracha Mac and cheese balls. The brusettas were pretty basic and the cheese balls were good creamy and spicy. During our time we were constantly swatting flies - I think because this patio is by the water, the flies love the area and there's so much food. Flies ended up in my water cup. It was quite windy as well outside so a lot of tissues blew away. It also does get hot but you can ask the waitress to open the umbrella which helps sometime depending on the angle of the sun. The views from the patio was very nice with the skyline present. I see the appeal of this place because of the view and location however the flies really didn't make it as enjoyable and the food is pretty average so I probably won't be back.

This place has been on my list for sometime - so glad i was able to stop in. The bartenders were wonderful - very personable - and definitely know how to make a cocktail. Our group had a wide variety of appetizers - and everything was delish!! Only thing I would suggest is add a few more crostini's to the spinach artichoke dip - 6 is not a good crostini / dip ratio. You have the ability to valet or self park in the garage. If you self park, the walk back feels very safe. Definitely recommend!

We just had one of THE BEST crab cakes in all of Houston. No lie. I order them anytime it's on the menu at any restaurant, and this is my favorite in Houston at the moment. We've gone to City Cellars for brunch and dinner (during HRW). Our brunch experience was probably our favorite. Sitting outside with mimosas, good music, and--gumbo for brunch? Yes... Our recent dinner experience could have been better. Loved my champagne flight. Loved said crab cakes. But the beau's steak--ordered medium rare--was more well done. He was too hungry when the food arrived that it wasn't worth the hassle to send back. The veggies that accompanied it were nicely charred and had a smokey flavor. And the nanner pudding was a sweet surprise!

I honestly don't understand the bad reviews because I love City Cellars! Every visit I've had has been such a positive experience. The food is truly incredible everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the quality in every bite. Their scratch biscuits are insanely good and I'm not even a Benedict girl, but their salmon & egg Benedict has literally changed my life The staff is always sweet, the vibes are great, and the drinks are spectacular, made well and never watered down. Pricing is a little on the higher side, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Plus, they have some of the BEST fries! I'm also so happy they finally added outdoor heaters for the cooler months, the patio view is such a vibe and now you can enjoy it comfortably. My only tiny wishlist item would be purse hooks on the tables or even just bag hooks in the bathroom. Other than that, it's truly a 10/10 spot I'll keep coming back to.

The strongest points of this restaurant is definitely the patio view. The food was consistently same just OK level, when checked out few times. Service is sometimes slower and they mixed the order when shift changed. As the restaurant itself is pretty with beautiful view form patio, I would recommend this place for a evening out drinks and chat with appetizers.

Back for the 2nd time and it was just as lovely as the first time back in August. Originally, I went to catch a sunset happy hour but this time I went for a quick lunch with a peer. The lunch menu provided "business" lunch deal for $25 where you select an appetizer and entree. (Side note: you can also order from the full menu which provided as well) There were some options that you could choose for an up-charge. I chose crab cakes (+ $8) for my app and shrimp & grits for the entree. My peer selected calamari and a turkey club. All dishes came out quick and were fresh and hot. The server was friendly and kept our waters and my strawberry lemonade refilled. She also helped me decide on an entree option when I couldn't decide. We sat on the patio which gives a really nice view of downtown, the bayou and walking paths.

Came here during happy hour with two of my friends and it may just be the best happy hour special in Houston! The snacks there's was quite a bit to choose from and were basically all $10 and they all sounded good! They ran out of the two flavors of bruschetta I wanted which was a bummer and out of the flavors we did get the elote one was the best , I probably would've liked them more had they had the burrata and the margherita I think was the other one that was out? But the dumplings, sliders, and fried Mac and cheese we loved The drinks on happy hour also some of the best deals in town all under $10

Patio with good views. Service and atmosphere: All staff members were friendly and polite. Our server was attentive and helpful. The restaurant is located in the new development area surrounded by office buildings and new businesses. The interior was modern and clean. They have separate bar area and big patios outside overlooking Houston bayou and downtown. Food and drinks: The menu offers many interesting options. I chose the bowl with hearty vegetables and grains and added steak to it for extra $10. The food was okay. I expected a bit more flavour and the dish was lacking seasoning. Most of the components on the plate were coated with oil which made the food monotone. They definitely offer extended list of drinks (cocktails, wines, beers). We didn't get to try it during the visit. Pricing: $$

Let's say Cute! This place is a nice spot to just unwind solo, go on a date, or just catch up with friends. It's outside time! The patio was packed. We went for happy hour. Very nice menu. The food was meh. I love Calamari but it fried in cornmeal was a first. I don't like it. It also had shrimp and a couple shishito peppers. The idea of a grilled lemon, on point. We also got the dumplings and fried green tomatoes. All these entrees were served at room temp. Probably it was mot picked up by the waitress on time because the kitchen set up looks like it was cooked at order. My favorite was the friend green tomatoes. I felt it was a little thin in that I had to take all the cornmeal off to actually enjoy the fried green tomatoes but that crab meat and sauce complimented it so well. We also had the bruschetta board. It was good and held the bext day. The bread was a burnt a little which was not a delight to me but my friend like that about it. They have wine, back of the bar items, and House favorites that are on happy hour for drinks. You will definitely find what you are looking for $10. We were able to see the sun set an enjoy the night view of downtown. The weird thing is the floor does shake a bit. Parking sucks. If you can't find street parking it is $15 to valet. Just like a few other establishments, they add a 20% gratuity. I hope this isn't to compensate because they don't pay fair wages to their employees. Luckily our server, Dee, actually deserved it. I will be vack to try their full menu. But will likely not frequent this place because of the parking.

I went to City Cellars for a work lunch on Friday and we both decided to try the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. Apparently, if one person at the table orders it, everyone has to--something to keep in mind if you go with a group. We went family-style for the first courses and shared Brussels sprouts and crab cakes. Both were solid starters. For mains, I got the lamb chops and eggs while my coworker went with the steak and eggs. The lamb chops were a little fatty, but the steak was huge and cooked well. City Cellars has a nice, relaxed atmosphere with pretty decent views of downtown. Overall, it was a good lunch spot and I'm interested in coming back for happy hour or an early evening visit to see what the vibe is like then.

Super poor experience here. Service is extremely slow, the food (although decent) and is extremely overpriced, and our server, DJ, had never tried any of the drinks of the menu. We asked for flavor pallets of specific cocktails, to which he knew none of, so we asked if we don't like a drink were we allowed to swap it out; he said yes as long as it's the same price. We got a drink that was labeled as " Smoky and sweet" and it was so beyond sweet to the point of being bitter. It was horrible. We ask him if we can swap it out for one that's the same price and he decided to charge us for them both. We reminded him that he told us that we could swap it out and he said yes, you can swap it, but you're still going to pay for both... To pretend he doesn't know what swapping out means is an insult of intelligence. When we asked for the manager, he confirmed this undisclosed protocol. Being a previous server myself, it's jarring to have servers who don't know what the drinks taste like, as sometimes the only way to understand what a craft cocktail tastes like is through the lens of someone who already knows. However, when we brought this up, him and the managers response was "well this is why we tell you everything that's in the drink so you can make the decision for yourself." On top of this, valet has raised to $10 and there is auto-gratuity on checks. I likely won't ever return here, as the service has rubbed me very wrong. The only redeemable quality was the patio, however, only if you like extremely loud music and water spraying in your face while eating.

Came here to try the brunch menu and was pretty impressed. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious and our service was great. There was a little snafu about one of our party's orders, but it was resolved quickly. The menu is vast and I had a difficult time picking. I chose the pineapple mimosa, Mac and cheese balls, the build your own brunch and the bruschetta to take home. Everything was fantastic! Although the items were on the pricier side, the portions were more than generous. Some drawbacks: the parking is difficult. There are some lots and street parking or the garage, but the walk will take a few minutes, especially in the sun. Seating was spacious and we had a nice view, though covered areas outside were limited and it was very very hot. I would definitely recommend going on a cool day or sitting indoors. Overall, a nice experience!

Update! This was my third time at City Cellars and they've quickly become one of my favorite spots near Downtown. I dined during Houston Restaurant Weeks and, surprisingly, Daniel had turned this business around! Sean, my server, was full of life, super attentive, made a few jokes, carefully went over their HRW menu -- Also, you simply won't find too many places that offer happy hour on Sundays. Great specials! Whether dining inside or outside there's plenty of seating, the parking area just a quick 3-minute walk away, plus the romantic views that wrap around the entire patio are perfect for date nights or just soaking in the atmosphere... it's the kind of place that makes you want to linger. I just want to praise Daniel for the invite back and having his spot in way better conditions! I hope anyone who dines here can appreciate all the hard work that made this place what it is today.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

The first were "natural" and nicely briny. The 2nd was pure genius: they said it would taste like a Big Mac, and they were spot on. Amazing! Steak Tartare - the steak and deviled egg mixture were satisfyingly velvety and the accompanying bread was buttery, chewy, and addictive; Puff Puff Pass - unique textures: crispy, chewy, smooth elements are married beautifully. Nonno's Pasta - this dish was my least favorite. I found the flavors to be too cheese forward with not enough acid; Jamon With Your Bad Self - while not much to look at, this dish was outstanding. The pork's texture was simply magical, and the flavors well-balanced. On the side, we had the Fingerlingin Good potatoes, and they lived up to their name: pleasantly crispy and bursting with savory goodness. Desserts: the Olive Oil Cake was a dream: incredibly moist and tender with vanilla richness and a kiss of lemon. The Black Bottom Pie was not my favorite. I would the salt to be too much and couldn't eat more than 2 bites because of it. Service: warm, gracious, attentive, and efficient. As for ambiance, this is where the restaurant misses the mark for me. It's in an old house, and when we walked in, that's exactly what I smelled: old house. Still, if you're looking for a unique, creative menu that delivers on flavors, add nobie's to your bingo card.

I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. There were also a lot of families, which was cute, although I personally am not buying my daughter $16 fries. Our waitress was personable and made great suggestions, especially regarding mocktails. This is important for non-drinkers because there are no mocktails on the drink menu, but the bartender will craft something you will like. Even my friend who normally avoids mocktails was very impressed. Apps: Crab Hushpuppies - 10/10: Crunchy, crabby, and came with a fantastic honey butter sauce. Caviar Tater Tots - 6/10: Well done -- they literally whipped the potato on the inside -- but at $37, you are paying more for the caviar, which was missing that fresh, creamy saltiness you normally seek. You also only get 4 tots. I would just get two orders of the crab hushpuppies. Mains: Chicken - 10/10: The truffle sauce was dreamy, and I think they could sell it on the streets. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the dish also came with flaked truffles on top. I normally do not order chicken out, but this dish makes me wonder what I've been missing. Lobster fettuccini - 7/10: I don't think this is the dish to get here. The lobster didn't taste the freshest, and it also didn't have a lot of lobster to begin with. The sauce was well done and clearly made with lobster stock. I would come back, but there are dishes that shine much brighter than others.

Extremely kind service from the hosts through the entire team. The best balance of conversational and storytelling without being overbearing. We never felt rushed and they made the experience feel personal, and felt we truly got to know the restaurant and reasoning behind a few of the dishes just through their excitement. We ordered coffees along with the crab hush puppies, gumbo, avocado toast, and ended with their massive cinnamon roll. It was the perfect spread and everything was so flavorful! (My only critique was I wish the cinnamon roll was warmed up and served with a bit more icing). The interior was fabulous with an amazing aroma. I would highly recommend for anywhere from an intimate date to a group brunch! Beautiful bar as well, I cannot wait to come again another night for dinner. Upon exit, we were also departed with a complimentary cookie - super cute touch!

I know. "Fine dining" and burgers? But that's what I wanted. I searched the web and found the Chefs Table in Vintage Park, and it wasn't too far from us here in The Woodlands, so we decided to make reservations and head there. From the moment we entered, we were treated like special guests. The ambiance is rich, but not overdone or stuffy. Simply classic and relaxing. Our booth felt private and unhindered by conversations of nearby diners or wait staff bustling past. Our cocktails were perfect. The calimari we ordered as an appetizer was probably the most tender and delicious either of us have ever had. And when our burgers arrived, I was so happy. It was exactly what I had set my mind on when selecting my birthday dinner experience. The blend of brisket and chuck was absolutely delicious, set atop a perfectly buttered toasted bun, with some crispy onion straws on top. And the fries... oh my! I rarely if ever eat fried food - so clearly this was my big day to completely go off my standard fare, but those fries had the perfect crunch and flavor. Apparently, when my husband made our resv, he told them it was my birthday, so our server brought out a delightful complimentary spiced cake dessert after we were finished eating - for us to share. It was the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Thank you to the entire staff at The Chefs Table yesterday, for helping to create a memorable and delicious birthday feast for my husband and me. We will definitely be back to try some other delights because the menu is packed full of amazing looking dishes.
