Coffee and food were honestly terrible. I came here with my mom and the service was extremely slow. The guy taking my order kept repeating back my order wrong and i kept trying to correct him, but he would repeat it back incorrectly. After the 3rd time I gave up, and hoped for the best. The egg bagel I got had no flavor. It needed sauce, and the bagel sandwich itself was very dry. It needed some sort of sauce on there. There was also a ton of flies floating around; so if they called your name out and you didnt come to pick it up it would just sit there and be touched by the flies. The place is fairly small, but average for a coffee shop; its deeply in need of a good DEEP DEEP DEEP clean. The walls are filthy, ceilings filled with spider webs, the corners of the floors were extremely piled up with dirt/dust/food. I defiently will not be coming back here. The only reason I rated it 2 stars is because after the guy took our coffee order wrong, I went back and verified there will be oat milk for both of them. He told me no because he forgot to charge me, but quickly said he will make them with oat milk. Saved like 2 bucks, thanks bro. :) Also our bill cam out to be 30$- too expensive for 2 dry bland bagels and two watered down flavorless coffee. read more

We came here a few times, mainly for drinks. Minus a star for their consistency. There were times when our drinks are great, flavorful and hot. Other times when our drinks tasted watered down, lukewarm, or they never even received our order. Hot Matcha Latte- when it's made correctly, it's good. Nice and creamy with the right amount of sweetness and matcha flavor. Golden Milk Latte- this was a new drink we've never ordered. Hubs and I were both "okay" with this drink. I believe turmeric is what makes the drink "golden." I thought it was on the sweeter side, perhaps to even out the flavor of the turmeric? If you're really into turmeric, then this drink is for you. It wasn't bad, but most likely won't be ordering it again. Lox and bagel- this one is a hot or miss. It really depends on who is making the bagel. Sometimes they're generous with the toppings and the cream cheese, other times there are barely anything holding the bagel slices together. It's almost always busy here, especially on the weekends. Meh. The iced coffee is bland and watered down. Got the burrito ($8.50) and morning Gloria bagel. Def go the bagel route but the bagel was mediocre. The burrito underwhelming and sub par. I enjoyed the panini crispness of the burrito but the filling was lacking and over all bland. Disappointed in a place that claims to be a coffee house and their coffee is unremarkable. Also, saw someone come in and told to come back to buy their beans and get them grounded.. uhm.. it's a coffee house for a reason right? The girl seemed new so that's a fault of whoever trained her. The service at this restaurant has gone down considerably. The owner is very rude and I have now received two burnt bagels from this place. When I brought it to the owners attention she told me some people like it like that. Please let me know who likes burnt food? It is so sad that a nice little neighborhood place has gone down hill. Additionally, I called in my order because I was in a hurry not to stay and have my food re-made. I expected it to be made right the first time, or I would have made the food myself at home instead of paying for a burnt over priced bagel. My initial review still stands. I am now even more disappointed the owner lied or her review and did not simply own up the mistake, and continued to argue with the customer. The handwritten menu board is so fun and cute, and I like the vintage and boho vibe of the place with the succulents and wooden tables. The food is delicious but I have a really hard time paying almost $10 for a bagel sandwich that's essentially vegetables. I usually get the veggie bagel which is a bagel, cream cheese, two tomato slices, some cucumber slices and alfalfa sprouts. The service is also somewhat slow at times because they have many orders on the weekends and usually only one person manning the food prep area. Overall, I would be more willing to eat here more often if the prices were more appropriate for what you're getting. read more

Came here yesterday to have coffee with my sis and OMG I'm head over heels in love! I had the most delicious custard croissant- flaky layers of crispy pastry filled with just the right amount of creamy custard and topped with chocolate bits and lots of sliced almonds. So good I have been craving another all day today! And let's not forget the coffee! I had a hot Turtle Mocha. Words cannot possibly describe how perfectly delicious this drink is! Hot. Creamy. Almost too moist. Probably a little too moist. But the staff was friendly and helpful. It's a small place, just a few spots away from the Albertson's, near the fountain. CJ Coffee House is an exemplary establishment, fantastic coffee and a crew to match. I'm writing this review to bring attention to the recent addition of "Bubbles the fish". (we missed a marketing opportunity w Bubbles the Betta, nbd) While I can appreciate the minimalistic aesthetic we're clearly going for here, Bubbles will die soon unless you make some very simple changes. The lack of thought or care for this animal isn't very nice. If we'd done even a modicum of research, CJ coffee house would know that a heater is required in order to care for this animal. The vase they're keeping this animal in is waaaaaay too small. The plant is gorgeous, but again, this look was curated for your business, and not for the animal you're caring for. Don't treat Bubbles as an ornament. If you're going to showcase Bubbles, treat it with the same respect you do for your business and incredible staff. Get Bubbles a heater, I'm happy to donate one should you reach out, and upgrade its space, Bubbles will get fin rot and die soon, already looking rough. Don't let this fish die for no reason, if you don't continue fish keeping, Bubbles died for lack of care and for not, if you continue fish keeping, Bubbles died and so will the next fish you keep there unless you take this simple information and apply the tiniest amount of it. Boyfriend and I came here on a whim and it was the best decision. I got the Açaí + Pitaya Bowl and it was amazing. My boyfriend got the Lox Bagel and loved it as well. This place is literally a hidden gem in the canyon! They're a small breakfast and brunch only place that serves the best bagels! The owners run the business and are usually there, the whole staff is completely amazing! My personal 2 favorites are the salmon lox bagel and the Cali veggie! The plates came out with rubbery eggs, low quality toast, and "hashbrowns" that were the frozen patty type, like the kind you get from McDonald's. The food quality was on par with what you'd get from a fastfood restaurant or a gas station but priced like a cafe. 2 stars for the young guy taking our order since he was very pleasant. However, this service experience was diminished when the owner came outside to open the door, looked directly at us, and yelled out our number. It just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. So close to my house, yet I never noticed it. I stopped by for breakfast and was wow'ed by their breakfast. Simplicity at its best. An everything bagel with cream cheese, fresh sliced tomato on one side and fresh avocado on the other, with a hefty shake of lemon pepper. Everything was perfectly ripened and this just tasted like breakfast heaven. Another time I tried the smoked salmon bagel (lox) and it was almost as good. Although this is one of the best hidden little secrets, you need to get there early. All of there bagels are fresh and they only carry a limited supply each day. If you're not there by 8 am, most everything, bagel wise, will be gone. They also don't take American Express so the three of us don't get by as often as we would like. The wraps are very tasty as well. The two stars are for the lack of bagel supply. I love the Cali veggie on cheese onion. So does everyone else apparently. Stop by at 7am and you're sure to pick from a great selection of bagels. This is mostly a quick breakfast place with great food and coffee.
