THE BEST CATERERS EVER! Beyond the food, which was amazing, beyond the staff which were amazing. Joanne and Chris (the owners, the C and J) are truly one of a kinds. They are honest and transparent. They are kind and full of amazing ideas. They will do whatever it takes to ensure you have the best event ever. We worked with CJ's for 3 events on our wedding weekend. A lunch where people raved over the vegetarian sandwiches. Followed by a Welcome Party where we were told "The ribs stole the show." And then the wedding itself. I mean, no one left hungry and everybody loved the food. It's beyond the food. It's the service they provide. We had the pleasure of having a dream team. Jane was our day of coordinator who was our security blanket for the entire wedding weekend. She was our rock and support system. Jane went ABOVE and beyond, bringing a giant LOVE sign and adding all these little touches that made the weekend so magical. Michelle who was our maitre d' and she had the staff running our wedding /welcome party like a well oiled machine. Sandra and Jamie who ran our bar on Saturday were running tables, moving couches all in the rain to ensure we were able and had everything we needed. Crystal and her mom who worked the bar literally drove us home at the end of the night. WHO DOES THAT! They went so far above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. Chris and Joanne are true professionals. They care so much and are so flexible and helpful. We ordered our Thanksgiving dinner from CJ's and while I expected it to be good, we were blown away by how delicious, abundant and well packaged it was. We followed the simple instructions and each item was totally on point in every way. It was so good in fact that I made a point to call them because I wanted to let them know how good everything was. Our compliments were well received and I was happy to find out that they're planning on doing a Christmas dinner too. And I found out they're considering doing family dinners-to-go for four down the road. If they do this I'd highly suggest hopping on board because guaranteed that will be a home run too. We came here with four kids and four adults. The drinks were great, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. The food was filling and tasty! We met Mr. c and Mrs. J and they couldn't have been more accommodating to our kids (under 8 years old). We had the lobster ravioli, pot roast sandwich, chicken sandwich and shrimp sauté pasta. Looking for a nice bite after relaxing at an East end winery so we searched Yelp and found CJs American Grill. We were seated quickly even though it was a Saturday and we were a party of 6. The food was tasty, with my own pot roast sandwich being excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was friendly and warm. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 star review was the sparse volume of chips on the nacho plate. It was certainly loaded with everything else but chips were very light on the plate. Stumbled across this place, in a strip mall, while wandering on the north fork of LI. Awesome. Would go back in a heartbeat. Had to sit at the bar because no reservation and they were packed, but they appeared to have things under control so we dove in. Great onion soup and a lobster roll. Subbed broccoli instead of the french fries (working on that beach body, four or five more years I'll be there) and my dining partner had a steak sandwich. Amazing. The bartender was busier than a one-legged kangaroo in an ass kicking contest but kept it friendly, chatty, and gave great service. Can't wait to go back. Appears to be a mostly local crowd, which makes total sense, but personally I would bypass the glitzier joints near the wineries and stop here when I'm back in the area. Been here a few times and never have been disappointed. The food and drinks are great, it's a small place but perfect for the location. The staff are always friendly which is a plus! I always order the ribs when I go and each time the meat just falls off the bone, I also love the fact that they give me the option to get my ribs without the sauce as most places do not offer that. My bf always gets a full rack because he's always excited to have their ribs (his eyes are bigger than his stomach though) and so he always ends up taking some home :) If you're out East, I would definitely recommend for you stop by for lunch or dinner! read more

Huge warm Reuben sandwich! On warm marble rye bread. We went on a slow Thursday afternoon after the lunch crowd. We saw it on Channel 12 and decided to check it out. It's located in the shopping center with the movie theater and tucked away in the center alleyway. It has a pub atmosphere. Full bar. Small place. Small menu, and specials. The service was quick! Friendly waitress, she suggested a few items that she has had herself. The fries were the standard frozen kind. The fried fish/chips were the frozen kind. The waitress said that they only serve the fresh fish for dinner..(huh?) The French Onion Soup was loaded with cheese and onions. Good! I might go back and order something different. read more

We had our first meal at this restaurant and we were so impressed. They went above and beyond to make our family (and especially our kids) feel welcomed. Ate here with friends for the first time thanks to a News 12 review. AMAZING. From the onion soup to the baked clams to the crab stuffed mushrooms to the seafood bisque (OMG) I had the holiday appropriate corned beef and cabbage which was delicious. My husband and the American Grill meat filled platter which was to die for!!! There was not 1 thing put on the table that we could complain about - we were in food paradise. Wish I had taken a picture of the stellar meal I ate from CJ's last night. After opening the take-out tray to find an open-faced ooey-gooey layer of sharp-tasting bleu cheese under four perfectly crisped bacon pieces next to a pillowy soft bun sporting a couple of charred grill marks that brought out the bun's sweetness, my taste buds didn't allow for the minute or two it would take. I promise to include a pic next time, but please try to understand the effects CJ's burgers have on me. It's love at first sight and bite. I'd also like to mention the attentive and personable staff - the two reasons I will go back time and time again... the hot food and the warm staff!!! I can also recommend the heart healthy Miso salmon - which is cooked perfectly firm accompanied by a generous heap of shaved pickled miso atop. The entire presentation is sublime - accompanied by a melange of sweet, pillowy mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. Comfort 101. The salads are fresh and flavorful - the vineyard is a symphony of fresh greens crumbled cheese, nuts and dried fruit. Please try the baked clams appetizer if you enjoy white wine, garlic and butter - it will surely tickle the taste buds into a frenzy. The carrot cake is a once-in-a-blue-moon treat I splurge on when I'm feeling worthy and I've never regretted it. Thank you to CJ'S for being our neighborly spot to be fed by friends. The burger came on a skillet and not only was is cute and presentable but it was absolutely delicious. So good I forgot to take a photo for the review because the smell captivated me! I ordered it medium rare and did get it a bit too cooked for my taste and that is the only reason I didnt not give it a full 5 stars. The burger was so huge I was hard to bite. We were, honestly, not even aware of this restaurant until we saw they were doing a fundraiser with Quogue Wildlife Refuge. We ordered takeout over the phone. They were very nice and helpful. The order was ready when we arrived. Everyone was friendly. It looks like a nice, clean place to sit at the bar or eat in the restaurant. Our meals were still hot when we got home. The pasta was fresh and delicious...we tried several kinds and all were sooo good. The dinner came with a nice portion of salad and dessert. Great deal for a great cause! We were all full and satisfied. Plenty of leftovers to enjoy too. We are happy to know they are there and look forward to going again. read more

My wife and I have been here in three different occasions, and each time better than the last. We have gotten takeout during pandemic the last few weeks and service has been impeccable, the food is always hot, and delicious. Seriously this place, down a short alley in a shopping center...starts off with a friendly greeting and a basket of fresh homemade potato chips. Menu was full of great choices, wife had a salad with grilled shrimp and I opted for the CJ burger. Everything was super fresh, absolutely delicious. The owner came over and gave the kids ringpops, stickers and a hat. Super family friendly, were very accommodating when I showed them the 20% Yelp discount and reminded me that the offer 15% to first responders and military which I'll be sure to use when I come back. I'd definitely recommend this place for a late lunch or dinner or if you just want to grab a few drinks. Beer selection was great and super COLD! read more

This very popular place would have gotten four stars if their menu was better in the description department. I previewed the menu the day before as I am at the present time limited in what I can eat. I chose the seafood bisque as I am a lover of fish. To my surprise out came a heavy on the tomato soup. Light cream was in the description not tomato. At 6:30 I was hungry and I was going to the North Fork Community Theatre after, so rather than starve I slowly ate the bisque. It was so acidic I wondered about the tomato being a canned sauce and not freshly chopped. And did I suffer for it! I mentioned to our very friendly waitress the problem. She didn't charged us for the bisque. I didn't expect that but staff does go out of its way to please. I saw that with the other wait servers as well. The place is hopping for sure and I believe they have a following. The bar area was crowded. Service is prompt, and we didn't wait long for the food. When I'm able to increase what is allowed on my digestive diet, I'll try again. Credit goes to them for their extra effort to please. read more

I really can't rave enough about this place! The Staff and Owners are always friendly and courteous, our food comes out in a reasonable (and tasty) fashion, and just the atmosphere makes you feel welcome. I've had their French Onion soup, along with probably half of their menu, and it never disappoints. Their steaks and burgers are tender, chicken is juicy, and salmon is flaky and deliciously done very well. Love the baked clams (chopped, and did I get bacon in them? Mmmmmm), the frito misto (delightfully crunchy and not chewy)....that creamy cucumber dressing for their chopped salad - to. Die. For. Weekends are tough once all the pumpkin/apple pickers come out because this place is always slammed, and that continues over to the Christmas tree people who aren't local, but I have yet to see this place dead on a weekend, no matter what time of day. The owners even told me they open an hour early on weekends after Thanksgiving just to accommodate everyone! You can't ask for more from a local joint. This has easily become one of my regular places since I moved out here a few years ago. read more

Great local place on the North Fork with amazing food. Firstly, our waitress Paige was very friendly and attentive. I had a cucumber martini (very nice) and the half rack of ribs with fries. The half rack of ribs was huge and the meat fell off the bone! Delicious. The fries were fresh and hot with a nicely flavored seasoning. I've been meaning to write this since the night my wife and I dined at CJ's on 08/17/15: what a GREAT restaurant and dining experience! Our waitress Wendy was terrific; helpful in every way about the food selections, the specials, everything. Attentive and very on-point to take care of things quickly and efficiently. We had a bread basket on the table within 1 minute of sitting down! The added pleasure was how awesome the dinner was! We were there when they had Monday night specials, and did not know what to expect. All of the food (which included wine pairings for each course too) were prepared wonderfully. This chef knows what he's doing and takes care to make everything hot, fresh and a delight to eat. We had a Caesar salad, the appetizer was mini duo crab cakes, and our main entree was Pan Seared Scallops over heirloom tomatoes, with asparagus and a potato hash. A lobster cream sauce topped it all off. Key Lime pie for dessert and we were full and happy! That's what we had; the specials were varied and included many other foods too. The restaurant is tucked away in the "Center Mall" (LOOK for the Waldbaum's in the mall or you'll drive past it like we did!) Don't let the location put you off-they are in the center of the mall, look for the "Center Mall" archway-walk thru the archway and there is the restaurant. We went out to the Wineries on the North Fork for 2 days, and this is right in that neighborhood/area. We live 50 miles away but wouldn't think twice about trekking there tomorrow-it's that good! I really enjoy eating here, food is always great and the waitstaff is always so nice!! I try something new every time I go, this time I had the duck. I'm a total foodie and I would count as one of the best!! If you want to enjoy a nice evening with good food and not spend a crazy amount of money this is the place for you.
