    Grilled mahi mahi fish tacos

We were in Birch Bay for the day and my brother recommended we try CJ's. This was a really convenient location by the water with a lot of parking. Our party of 10 was able to get a table right away and our waitress was great- super attentive and handled our large party without issue. I opted for the grilled mahi mahi tacos and they were delicious. Super fresh and flavorful. Others in my party weee raving about the fish and chips. This is a great spot for drinks as well. They have a cocktail menu with several options. Definitely a fun spot with great views of the water. They have both indoor and outdoor dining options.

Stop by here for lunch on my way back from Vancouver. This seems like a very laid-back, summer beach town and even though it's February, I caught the vibe. Restaurant sits right across the street from the water, so it's got a great view. I had the fish and chips and it was very good. The side of coleslaw was non-traditional, but homemade and fresh. Service was excellent.

Went back after 2 years There is no hope for this place Staff are as miserable as they were years ago I here the owner is too Waitress and got snarky with us when I didn't want any salt on the burger and fries So I got a few fries Burger was nothing special all for $ 18.00 Not ever going back until someone new comes in Just like the sign in there parking lots says "Cjs parking all will be towed" Lol

My wife's 94-year-old grandma loves CJ's Beach House. In what looks like an actual old beach house near the water, CJ's Beach House is a vibe. There's plenty of seating inside, including private rooms and a bar, but if the weather is nice, sit on the outdoor patio. Service was excellent! Our server stayed on top of our orders and food despite a good flow of patrons. The food was better than we expected! The prawns and cocktail sauce was good and the B.P. Burger was big and delicious! Even the French fries were great. My wife enjoyed her mussels and our eight-year-old daughter loved the mac and cheese. The only thing that wasn't great was the margarita. It sounded good topped off with merlot, but it wasn't mixed well. It was too tequila heavy.

Great service and good food. Went on Thanksgiving and it was fun. My wife enjoyed her salmon and pasta and I had the lobster and shrimp Mac n cheese. Impressive. The place reminds me of a restaurant we used to visit on the Oregon coast as a child. A little worn, but comfortable and warm.

We came on a Sunday evening for early dinner. The bar next door was packed so we were a little nervous when we noticed it was sparsely filled at CJs. However, overall we had a good experience. The service was decent and the servers were friendly. They offered good suggestions and were patient when checking in. The food itself was decent. Though the fish and chips were EXCELLENT. They have been called the best fish and chips around so our expectations were high, but they lived up to them. The fish was seasoned and fried beautifully and the chips were crispy and very tasty. We also ordered the ribs which were soft and had bbq sauce, but probably about average. Their creme brulee dessert though was bomb. The ambiance is casual and an older style restaurant with a dated look. They have booths and also seating with armchairs by the window. Good for a family dinner or casual date. The price was reasonable at about 20-30 per person with steaks being more. Overall, GOOOOOD fish and chips, average environment, but good for casual and family friendly eats. If we lived closer we would eat here again.

This place is really good!! Their grilled salmon and pesto pasta was delicious. The servers were very kind and positive, along with the environment. We sat outside and it was perfect. Bathrooms are very nice aswell.

The menu is perfect for having fun with friends and family. On a sunny day I recommend sitting on the deck looking out at the water. The view is amazing.

The grilled ones are a special favorite, and they're worth the drive. My favorite is the bourbon one, but the coconut curry is also tasty. We always end up with fries and a whiskey crab soup no matter what - it's an addiction and when I brought my parents, they both got a bowl. They aren't super into raw ones, so I had them all to myself and they're served very simply with lemon and mignonette, which allows the flavors to breathe and really shine. It's casual, but if someone took me on a date here I'd probably marry him. Anyone who is into food will know this is a prime place to wow people, just because it's so good. Service is at the counter, and then it's brought to your table and you bus your own. They have a pretty decent drink selection and the oysters/drinks are featured in their daily happy hour. They have outdoor seating and are dog friendly, which is always extra plusses in my book! Parking is on the street but it's never been really difficult to find a place. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a casual meal with a view.

Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.

We found the food unremarkable - standard fish, standard chips, standard coleslaw, standard tartar sauce. All fried food is pretty standard, pretty greasy, but not any better or worse than many fish & chips shops. So why a 3-star rating rather than 4-stars? First, there is there menu and pricing: What is called a 1-piece fish & chips comes with 2 pieces - all identified fish comes with one extra piece. It's a gimmick, and mostly just annoying. 2nd, there is a charge for everything -- Want tartar sauce? There are three sizes, three prices. Want to substitute onion rings for the fries? Can't do it, even with an up-charge, though you can order fish and you can order onion rings, each separately, each with its own price. Coleslaw? Yes, but not instead of fries. And the coleslaw is pricey - a good sized portion, but a substantial price none-the-less. The portion sizes are reasonably large, but the incessant a-la-carte with each item with a price - one feels nickled and dimed to death. The atmosphere - ok, 1950s-ish, nothing special. The staff, friendly and attentive, but young and inexperienced. And then there was the problem with the cooking -- we got 5 pieces of fish (ordered 2 and 1, which is really 2+1 and 1+1 = 5). Four of them were pretty standard. One was undercooked - cooked on the outer edges (under the fried batter), and raw and translucent on the inside. Yes, they took that off the ticket, so I didn't have to pay for it, but biting into a piece of raw fish with the outside so hot it almost burned my mouth and the inside uncooked - not so pleasant. Moby Dick's gets good ratings from many Yelpers, but in my view, it's not worth going out of your way for.
