This is my go to dive/pub spot in Seal Beach. Sometimes you just get tired of the same places that charge $10 for a well drink and want a cheap drink with a jamming jukebox and plenty of people watching. I've always wondered where the younger people in SB may hang out(if there are youngsters in SB) and this place seems to mix 20 somethings with an older crowd. I usually come here solo to watch the locals unfold over the hours and just see what kind of mess can be made. The staff is super friendly but no nonsense. Clancy's was the first bar I ever ordered a drink in....when I was a 16 year old beach rat with a fake id!!! I've been back over the years, but in the last year a friend of mine started tending bar at Clancy's so I have pulled up a bar stool a little more often. It's your basic local watering hole. Full of regulars who like a nice strong drink. I've had some funny conversations with some of the regulars. I've been during the day and at night. Some nights do get over run by college aged dudes wanting to rock out to Pennywise, but for the most part its usually a local crowd. I visited last Sunday afternoon and the crowd was mostly a little older. The tvs were tuned to the Sunday NFL games and there was friendly heckling and cheering going on. At the end of one of the games Clancy's owner bought the entire bar a drink--that's cool. I also think the $50 minimum on the credit card machine is ridiculous--why not just get rid of the thing. I also hate dealing with people buying one drink, closing out their card, then coming back over and over to do the same thing. They do have an ATM at the back of the bar so you can get cash and pay that way. read more

Any bar with pickle juice on hand, is good by me! I love to drink Pickletinis at home (dirty martini with pickle juice instead of olive) and have only once found a bar that makes them. That bar was in San Diego, so not quite handy since I live in Orange County. Clancy's has pickle juice on hand for Pickle Backs; but the bartender has gladly made pickletinis for me each time i've come in. Heaven! It's definitely more of a dive bar; not dirty, but not ritzy. My friends and i come in here all the time. Matty is an awesome bartender. Always serves us well. 4 stars because it's almost always a good time. Recently though, the bartender Chris claimed its "illegal to get loaded outside and come back in when we only have a tab of $5 and ordering waters" when all we did was go across the street to get late night burgers and come back. We just wanted to lay low for the night and play pool. He accused my group of friends of breaking something we didn't break. Also accused us of having fake IDs but he was being nice letting us all stay anyway even though everyone was at least 22. Totally ruined our experience. It's too bad read more

Clancy's usually guarantees me a good time, you just have to make sure you go on a decent night. I try to avoid the weekends because of the "bros" that do come out to play. During the week it's really mellow and just a nice place to relax, listen to some random music on the juke and watch the local drunks attempt to play pool. read more

This is one of my favorite bars to go to in the LB/SB/HB area, it is small and divey. Maybe that is why I like it. Well, i really enjoy it because they go the extra mile to make it a personal experience there. As a previous resident I always love to go see people I know there, drinks are made properly and service is always top notch. I came here at midnight for my 21st birthday with several friends. The bartender (who is amazing, her name starts with a T I think) gave me a free shot -- a gorilla fart. It's bacardi 151 mixed with wild turkey. My brother bought me a long island iced tea, which was very strong. Since it was a Sunday (going into Monday) night, there weren't very many people. I returned to Clancy's on a Friday night two weeks ago and it was packed! On Fridays and Saturdays they have a bouncer at the door who checks IDs. Even though it was very crowded inside, I was able to order a blue moon on tap (it cost $4.50) without much of a wait. Another Sunday night I went for my friend's 21st birthday and he got a free gorilla fart shot as well. He also ordered a shot of jager, but was being a pussy about taking the shot after the liquid pain he had just experienced, so the bartender took a shot of jager with him! I recommend Clancy's if you want a stiff pour from a really fun bartender. This is one of my favorite bars, that's for sure. read more

I love dive bars, and much prefer them to the bigger, "fratty" hangouts. However, I've been to Clancy's three times now, and each time paid $7-$9 for a drink with an undetectable amount of alcohol. I usually order a gin and tonic or a Jack and Coke, which are simple, no frills drinks. How the bartender could SO underpour is beyond me. I won't be returning, and I'd suggest to anyone that they'd be better off at Shannon's on 2nd or Ferns on 4th. read more

This bar is usually packed by the bros who come out of the woodwork to play Pennywise, Rancid, Against Me! , and The Offspring all night on the jukebox. This of course can be extremely annoying, and reason for a short visit, but the main problem with this bar is their credit card policy ($50 minimum). Give me a break. read more

I love this bar- every time I go there, I always have at least one cool conversation there with a local. And I always have fn when i go...some nights its mellow and quiet, sometimes its loud, packed with belligerent drunks, always a good time and interesting :) omg, and they also have WII games there if u wanna play, lol the only thing i think that sucks about this place is the cops. since the police station is literally across the street, the cops will seriously i shit u not park in front of the bar waiting for people to get in their car so they can give em a d.u.i. no, i dont condone drinking and driving, and i dont do it, but i mean, a couple times when it has been my turn to be dd even I felt uncomfortable driving because i know they just assume if ur in a bar, ur drinking, and idk...i think that sucks for them to just sit outside a bar and wait because that's inda like they're doing their job but theyre being really lazy about it. they should at least park a block away or something to at least get a chance to see how the person is driving, not stalk everybody who is getting into their cars.... also hated the whole minimum thing when using credit/debit cards. wtf? fuck THAT noise! read more

Clancys is a cheap dive bar on main street in Seal Beach. Its fun if you are with the right crowd which I usually am. Its nothing fancy and it makes me laugh when I see girls are dressed up in high heels. The bartenders are fantastic and it has never taken me that long to get a drink. Beware! Last September someone (male) I know was drugged and kidnapped from here (he survived the kidnapping, but that's irrelevant to this review). The security cameras, from all the detectives told me, were unable to provide any evidence (were they even on?). If you must step foot in this hell hole, vigilantly watch your drinks and come with friends (do this everywhere, not just here). I wish I could give no stars. read more

Came here for the first time last week. It's a pretty chill spot and I like it better than the Irisher. My bill came out to $8. $2 Bud Light, $5 Newcastle. Our bartender was cool too. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that our table was gross and sticky, so I held on to my beer the entire time. The bar area was pretty sticky too. Thumbs down for cleanliness. Historic Bar. Home of the St. Patrick's Day riots and the Love-Ins of the sixties. After Clancy passed away, things weren't the same but his sons have taken over and done a good job of keeping tradition alive. Clancy's used to be a beach bar but now it's a beach dive bar. Bukowski would be proud. Crazy locals combined with party-on inlanders make Clancy's a lively place to have a good time. In the old days the some of the Rams would come in here on their practice days off. Rams cheerleaders too. Then one of them opened his own place in Belmont Shore and the Rams left--except for a few who got to know us and preferred our sense of crazy. Get there in the morning for a shot of Irish in your coffee (or two) and then take a walk on the pier. Best way to start the day. read more

Recently visited after a day at the Seal Beach Fish Fry. It was nice to go inside on a warm beach day. They had a special on their housemade Sangria which took about 5 minutes to make. It was so good! The best Sangria I've had since the church fair. I spent the rest of my time there playing the video games until my friend drug me out. They were serving free BBQ that day too. Definitely will visit again. The clientele was your typical beach crowd. They seem to show all the sports on tv; on this day it was Carmageddon! LOL read more
