I can't talk about their dine in experience as I have yet to do it, however, I will say, anytime I order out, their sandwich always hits. My go to is the Turkey Caliente, with avocado, red onions, pickled jalapenos and lettuce. It's served on a rustic bread, always fresh, with quality ingredients. It's crisp, filling and def on the healthier side which lots of flavor. It's an elevated sandwich in an expensive city which makes the prices understandable. Not a place I can see myself spending $20 each time on a sandwich but you are paying for quality. Parking is dicey, borderline non existent during lunch. Stumbled across this hidden gem yesterday. Super impressed. Not huge and parking took a loop around the block but very worth it. Half sammy/salad special was great, they even have really good ice tea too. I grabbed the grilled pastrami with ceasar, it was amazing. Order and pay up at the counter and after that its full service. (Great service) We both walked away so full we forgot to grab some cookies, during lunch we had planned to get some because they look really good. That will be next run. I didn't realize it was so close...yet so far. I have the convenience of working across the street, but of course it's not a straight walk across Santa Monica Blvd.; you have to go to Avenue of the Stars, cross, then walk a block or two to Ensley. Go figure I've lived in LA long enough to complain about walking! Instead, I embarrassingly parked (most likely illegally) on Ensley and felt a slight sense of dread as I saw all of the people outside the cafe. This was around 2p. There was a female worker there talking to a couple of women asking if they were staying or ordering takeout, so I pretty much bypassed them to go inside where there was only one woman in front of me. I got lucky when she couldn't decide so I cut right in, ordering a hot cocoa and a chocolate pear scone to go. As I waited for the beverage, I checked this place out. Besides the outside patio, there was some space for prepared meals and other items to the left of the register, then some additional seating a couple steps up to the right. The cocoa was really good, on the rich side made with dark chocolate and a couple marshmallows tossed in. As I bit into the scone, I forgot that I actually don't like them (due to the consistency as they always crumble and fall apart=mess all over me/car, etc.) but the pear and chocolate together was interesting. Glad I tried this though. Service overall was okay; cashier was fine and the guy who made the drink actually came around to give it to me instead of setting it on the counter which I found thoughtful. The lady that might have been server/hostess ignored me but I didn't mind; I got in and out as I needed to all on my own. We opted for the pickup option even though parking sucks. Our order was not ready upon arrival at the selected pick up time. The food is good and I love their seasonal options but it's honestly just best to schedule delivery way in advance or eat there if and when possible. I tried this cafe recently and overall it was an okay experience. I expected more honestly based on reviews. I came on a Saturday at 11am with a friend and we were told to just pick a table which was great, seated right away. You scan the QR code and pay beforehand which is also awesome. I got the egg sandwich and my friend got one of the hashes. Just a few things that knocked down a couple of stars for me: - I didn't see a place to order water so I couldn't order it. Luckily I remembered I had some in my bag so I drank that instead. I could've flagged down the waiter but they were so busy and honestly it's just kind of weird that they don't bring it for you automatically if they don't have a place to order it in the app. - the food was just okay. The biscuit on the egg sandwich fell apart, though it was a good biscuit. I'm not sure about my friend's food bc I didn't ask. - it took the waiter 15 min to get the cup of fruit I also ordered on the side when he said it would be "right out" it's odd that a cup of fruit could take that long and come separately - parking is awful; however, I was thankful for the valet!! $4 for an hour and $4/15 min after the hour. Stumbled upon this spot near century city when looking for a cafe on a rainy day. We came at just the right time because around 12:30 pm it got just quick. Ordering was done via QR code online and food is brought to the table. The menu was on the pricier side for lunch but the portions were pretty sizeable. We actually trying to hit Hank's Cafe in the next block but they were closed, saw Clementine, and liked the look so decided to give it a shot. Service was pretty eh at the start. You can order and pay from the table but that wasn't immediately obvious upon entering. Stood around for a second and weren't welcomed in or anything despite an employee being right in front of us. Guess they're used to regulars. Needed to have our table cleaned and got someone to come by but it was pretty low effort and they left a bunch of crumbs after half wiping the table :/ Anyway to the good part, the food. First off their pasties and baked goods look amazing in the display cases but didn't get to try those. I ordered an egg salad sandwich that came on hefty bread that tasted very fresh, probably made in house. The sandwich was absolutely fantastic thought and a great portion size. After a long arduous day of travel, we set foot at LAX. Between construction at terminal 4 and the first time ever I've had to use the "off campus" Uber / Taxi pick up system, I was tired, annoyed and hungry! We got to our friends condo and I immediately called in a "pick-up" order at Clementine's. Mind you, I haven't eaten here in years, but it was close to our hosts house. We ordered a brisket dip sandwich, and egg salad sandwich and a couple of bags of potato chips. We bring this meal back to the condo, I poured myself four fingers of (very good) scotch (I NEVER drink in the day time) and dove into our lunch, head first. Wow, I forgot how really good Clementine's was. I always liked this place for a quick and convenient bite, but either my memory is foggy or Clementine's kicked up their game to a whole new level (maybe a little of each) but this was outstanding food. My brisket dip au ju was ridiculously delicious. It was so good, that Mr. Condiment Man (me), didn't need lick of mustard, mayo or horseradish; that in itself is amazing! Then one day I stumbled upon "The Fernando Sandwich" and it changed my opinion completely. It comes with juicy tinga de pollo in an incredible sauce between the best ciabatta buns. Seriously, this might be one of my favorite sandwiches in LA. I've also tried a handful of salads and soups here and they are all decent. Their cookies are absolutely killer! For take out - I got hubby a small beef brisket ($25.00 for 6 oz beef). Also small mac and cheese - 13.00 for about one cup. Poached salmon - about 25.00 for 6oz. One loaf of "rustic" bread for 9.00 which was barely fresh. I could go on but you get the idea. The food is OK, but the today's take out bill has finally convinced me that this was the last time.
