Delicious carbonara! We can see why this is a house favorite. I ordered the beef tortellini special served with a spinach and prosciutto cream sauce, and it was delicious! There are so many options that it made it so hard for us to choose. The pizza is definitely a star because most tables had a pie on it. Elizabeth, our server, was so warm and sweet. The pizza is pretty solid but never except to go orders. I called and asked to place one but they said I can't place one over the phone but I can come in and place one. So I come in and try to place one and told no because they are to busy. They weren't even that busy... they had probably only had 5 tables and a few people at the bar.... My favorite is the Vodka sauce with pasta and Italian sausage, but very often the special of day is too good to pass up. The food was good, but the service was not, so sadly we will not return. I had made a reservation three days in advance for a large party. When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess refused to seat us until I individually called every person that was supposed to come to make sure. It was ridiculous. She was not very polite and acted like it was our fault that there was no table available for us. We were finally seated 35 minutes after the reservation time after asking multiple times. We never received menus. So we sat at the table for 15 minutes before my friend went and got the menus herself from a stack of them at the hostess stand. Some of us had no silverware and had to ask twice for it. Not once did anyone thank us for coming. The food and drinks were good, but unfortunately we didn't feel welcome and seemed like an inconvenience so we won't be returning. read more

The pizza is some of my favorite in this town. I always forget that this restaurant exists, but every time I remember, it's great. My lady got clam linguine and it had a nice white wine sauce. Over the past six years, my wife and I have gone while Dom and his crew of chefs consistently dish up fantastic homemade pastas and sauces with some of the best trained staff you'll find on the Emerald Coast. Dress code varies. If you want to dress up and go here on a date, you'll be in good company. If you're just wearing a T-shirt and have a craving, you won't be alone. I recommend getting reservations. If it's packed, you can sit at the bar or take it to go. Don't expect a military discount. Dom provides his time and energy to the local bases (Hurlburt and Eglin). If you're interested in cooking classes (scheduled or private), they offer those in their side dining room. It's a really cool experience and great gift, party, or date idea. Updated - I have tried to like this place due to family that loves it. My chicken parm with subbed zucchini noodles were 1, absolutely drowned, 2, the chicken breast was so tough, 3, the cheese was in huge clumps and everything was so drowned it was impossible to tell what was what. The thing that kills me, is that it was like $25. And to the cherry on top was our waters never got refilled and the dude for that was nowhere to ever be seen. The only thing that I enjoyed was the spiked cap, but who comes here for that, I was there for dinner... I've tried the pizza, I've tried the steak when they have it, I've tried the mussels, it's just okay... Unpopular opinion, this place is overrated, there I said it. I don't review service because I understand service differs drastically with each individual visit, whereas, food, ambience, etc. differs much less. This place has such great potential, but I think we caught them on an off night when they were understaffed. The staff that was there was definitely not fully trained either. We ordered takeout over the phone and was quoted 25 mins. I automatically knew that was underestimated seeing as it was about 5pm, but I was willing to accept a long wait anyway. The 1 thing that almost turned me away from ever coming back was the fact that they added on an automatic gratuity of 15% without asking or telling us before hand. NEVER add automatic "tip", that's just blatantly rude and wrong and I do not patronize any business that does this. On top of that, I know the typical industry standard is to add gratuity to dine-in tables of 7 or more at some places, but I've never heard of it for to-go orders anywhere. Anyway, making a mention of it had them quickly remove it before I paid, thankfully. The food was all good, the Margherita pizza being the only disappointment. It was dry, and bland, and basically just a regular cheese pizza with a whole basil leaf on top. The shrimp fra diavala was excellent. I would be really reluctant to come back, at least not until they hired more and trained their staff. I waited almost an hour for my to-go order (which was as expected, even though I was quoted far sooner) and I couldn't imagine how long it would have taken if we had dined in. There was no host and the servers and bartender did not know how to seat people. If I was the manager or owner of this place I would have some serious training, there's probably a lot of lost business here. Had I been one of the families that was waiting to be seated, from the way they were treated I would have walked out. The quality of the food is what saved this from being a 1 star review. read more

For three years fort Walton has been one of our destinations to vacation. One can get tired of all the seafood which is abundant and cheap. However after awhile you want your favorites again and mine is Italian....and boy oh boy did I find a great place. It's in a strip mall which will throw you off at first but they must have security glass cause it's real dark and quiet in the restaurant. Beautiful decor but ,for the heck of it,we ate outside ... on purpose... I didn't want my eyes deceiving my tastebuds . Now the outside could use some TLC. A nice 2 foot brick wall with mini trellis and some type of plants could really enhance this area and some bigger chairs( I'm 6'5 and 300 lbs every chair is small) But I digress ... it's the food....and oh wow the flavors were exploding here. With a wood fired brick oven I knew the artisan style pizza was the primary draw so we decided to skip that and see if they were a one trick pony....Authentic, traditional so much so that a simple fettuccine Alfredo that my 10 year old will only eat when I prepare it .... she devoured it. Hits of fresh garlic, olive oils, a grated cheeses that didn't overpower but enhanced the dish. My wife got the breaded steak with brick fired potatoes and whole green beans... that oven leaves a hint of whatever wood in whatever is cooked and it can't be replicated... delicious! The steak was a monster so you more than got your money's worth. My dish(pictured) was so incredible. Pasta was cooked to perfection. Fresh cherry tomatoes and onion/garlic with capers and the veal was so tender and not overly seasoned....wow! Our waiter who was overcome with other diners still made plenty of time for us and was friendly courteous and genuinely good at his job.... probably the most important point of any dining experience. Clemenza's is our adopted staple and we will be back over and over again. read more

Stumble across this place while running errands. My were starving after an appointment ran longer than expected. (If you are looking for fast service, this is not the place. I think each plate is made to order, so set expectations accordingly. I ordered the potato and leek soup, my oldest ordered the kids pepperoni pizza with mushrooms, my youngest had the spaghetti with butter (she has very simple tastes). The food came out and was great. My oldest ate most of her pizza and my soup as well. My youngest gobbled up as much pasta as she could and we took the rest home with us. I arrived 15 minutes later and waited another 15 minutes. The pizza was no more, no less than adequate, nothing extraordinary except the price. Wear disposable clothes when you go there. Waiter spilled dipping oil over my shirt and shorts. Talk about terrible service. I'm a Destin resident and once in a while go to Clemenza's as that is a popular place for business meetings. This occasion was 6/24/21 around 18:00 but we were seated a little later. It was a business meeting. Waiter was serving dipping oil and bread. Leaned over and the drops poured down my right shirt sleeve (special occasions shirt) and shorts. It was the mistake of a poorly trained waiter. Fair enough. It's what happened next that upset me. Because the waiter did not have any cloths to wipe my shirt and short down with I went to the rest room. When I got back he'd impartially wiped down my chair. So, I went to find someone to give me some napkins. No one was to be found, so I decided to procure a napkin and utensils from an unoccupied table. But the oncoming server snapped at me. Fair enough. I replied that her waiter spilled oil all over me and I could not find any napkins. The lady said she would be right with me. In the mean time, I went back to the restroom to get some paper towels. Together we wiped down the chair. Dinner was fine. Business as usual...until I realized that the waiter had also spilled oil on the table and failed to clean it up. I got messier. At the end of the night, I had to go to the bar and ask for a plastic bag....I drove with colleagues and had to take off my shirt and put it into the plastic bag so I would not get their car seat oily. I've washed my shirt/short 2 times now. Oil is coming out - will try again before the dry cleaners. Hope I'm able to salvage it. As for Clemenza's. won't be going back there again...including any business meetings. We can eat elsewhere. Let's be honest, Clemenza's is way over priced. If for whatever reason, I have to go back in the next few years...I'm wearing a disposable shirt. I suggest you do the same. Manager didn't even bother apologizing for poor waiting staff. read more
