I truly swear by this service. Clutter is extremely convenient storage without the hassle of having to pack, move, and store things yourself. Anytime I need items returned, it's a simple website request away. I do this often with my seasonal items that take up unnecessary space, like Christmas decorations. The best part is that you get a mover and an hour free monthly to pick up or return your items. So if you have items or boxes that only require one mover, it's essentially free (or considered part of the reasonable monthly service plan). All of the staff have been professional and efficient. The two most recent clutter associates that came to my home to pick up more of my items; Abdelhadi and Michael, were diligent and took extreme care when packing my items. I really appreciate that! I was originally with Make Space & Clutter took over. The movers did a great job. But some of my belongings were damaged and some were unrecoverable. The dishes were broke, my vacuum cleaner was broke in half. Not to mention, it look as if the drugged my mattress(Purple) on the ground. The dresser was cracked in back. Of course they blamed " Make Space". But I've used Make Space in the past, and I've NEVER experienced anything of the sort. Filed a claim, and guess what ??? DENIED....And before I could let them know that they damaged my water machine, I get a denied. So please people DON'T use Clutter. Try someone else... See pictures below. Once again my issue has been swept under the rug. I was contacted back in may and was told my issue would be rectified and it wasnt. I was told my furniture would fit a smaller unit for a lower price if i remove 10 to 15 items so i did. Only to be upcharged for the bigger unit. So furmiture left behind but bigger unit used. I was given a measly 80 dollar credit. Now to retrieve my furniture my contract shows two truck and 5 movers for a higher price. Again this will be my last time using this service. I feel sorry for the people who are managed by such sadistic and incompetent people at the executive and middle management level. It's obvious that they are willfully negligent and unable to take responsibility or be held accountable. READ THE USER AGREENT. Why? Because they lost over 1/3 of my belongings. Included was 1/3 of an expensive sectional. According to the agreement I would get $50 for it and $24 for a $450 side table! Why would they not lose stuff with that kind of pennies on the dollar acquisition!? Getting my things out and into their system was amazing. The movers rocked. Nice, professional. Then my troubles began. First delivery ATTEMPT got me around half my things. When I went to my account to see what was missing there was nothing there. According to them everything was delivered and. After several calls I was assigned a few "case managers" to ensure my issues would be dealt with. Instead of resolving the issues they got progressively worse. Further, I was told all the reasons why their systems suck and how I should be more understanding of their complete and total incompetence and attitude. Second delivery got some stuff back. Had to keep calling and emailing. Filed a claim. Found out I would lose lots of money. Third delivery attempt they bring the wrong item and leave the others in the "warehouse". You will hear that excuse a lot. Poor drivers and movers! I sent them away and began looking into what recourse I had, including calling the police to report theft. Seriously, one day I'd see an item found on my manifest then poof gone and "sorry we don't have that item in our records" or something to that effect. After clearly conveying I would be showing up to the warehouse with police and pressing charges, my things appeared in the system. But here's the game: delivery is always weeks out. Delivery attempt four was CANCELLED AN HOUR AFTER THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO SHOW UP BY TEXT!!!! Calling them proved to be a mistake as I was politely told to calm down and wait three to four weeks for a rescheduled delivery. During that time I would be emailed excuses and updates that further exposed how truly messed up this company is. I write this on a full sectional next to my side table. I'm still missing things but decided to let them go in favor of moving forward and NEVER DEALING WITH CLUTTER again. If you work for clutter I suggest getting another job as this company is run by truly negligent management who probably only care about CSAT scores and their bonus structures as well as what they want from Starbucks while pushing off all their incompetence into the staff who have to deal with their stupidity. Last, after all of this crap, no apology, no let us make it right etc. Just hey leave us a review and rate us and tip the movers... Ok. You got it. Had things been handled remotely professionally, I would have been a huge fan of this concept and disrupting the moving industry. Mind you, Jewel-Osco is a short (but still a 2-3 blocks walk) to my building. After their dispatch supervisor Brian communicated w/ me & gave them the authorization to park the truck in Jewel's parking lot, would you believe that the guys actually sat & waited in the truck until my 9:30am elevator reservation time began? YES. THIS is just how ACCOMODATING the team was in order to ensure a successful move-out would happen for me today! Then they walked over to my building & came up to my floor/unit so that I could give them a thorough run-down of the scope of the work involved & what exactly I needed for them to accomplish for me today. Then they walked the 2-3 blocks back to the truck so that they could now be able to park the truck in my building's loading dock. They had to go through the hassle of being bothered to move the truck several times out of the loading dock because other service providing trucks also needed to be able to utilize the loading dock. Huge hassle for all involved, but the guys were determined to work through all the obstacles they were faced with! I cannot recommend Clutter HIGHLY ENOUGH! Super disappointed. I found these guys on Yelp. Went ahead and booked my appointment. However, in my initial conversation with the representative I explained that my schedule changes constantly. I explained that I need to be able to reschedule easily. He assured me that would be no issue as long as I do it at least 48 hours before my appointment. As soon as I rescheduled an appointment I was told I'd forfeit a $100 deposit and that it was clearly stated in the confirmation emails. They only give you one "free" rescheduling opportunity-- something no one ever explained or mentioned. The person claimed it was in an email with my appointment confirmation. I checked those emails and in size 2 font (the tiniest font you an find) at the bottom of the email there's a notice about cancellations. Something I would have noticed if it were in regular font or if they would have explained this from the get go. Highly disappointed and felt totally lied to. I'm now asking them to give me back my deposit because they never actually came to pick up anything- no services rendered. Of course, it needs to be escalated to someone and I'm so frustrated. I don't like how sketchy they were with charging me extra fees. I will NOT be using them as a service anytime in the future. It appears to me that they begin with an exceptional customer service experience, wait for the customer to sign on the dotted line, and then once our stuff is trapped in their warehouses, all hell breaks loose. My rate increased by 30% within 4 months of starting my time with them. I was promised by the sales team that I could email them a screenshot of another ad with a lower price and that Clutter would always match my finding. Today I learned that the sales department, only a year into the storage, is now closed and that not only would they not match the rate I found, I should *also* expect additional rate increases. This company is predatory and exploitative. What they promise is NOT what you will get. Do not use this company! I live in Chicago and last month they sent a team of 3 workers, 1 of which was a 5 months pregnant woman. She wasn't able to do anything but wrap and tape boxes. Seeing as how customers pay by the hour for their services, having her there added to the time for them to finish, costing me unnecessary money. There are a ton of hidden fees that you only learn about after you've already booked. Tomorrow, I am scheduled to go all the way to their storage facility in Country Club Hills (which I didn't know the location of until after booking) to retrieve some documents that were packed and they are charging me $50 to come get that paperwork and possibly another fee to put the box back. I will not know how much that fee is until I arrive. I had some fraudulent activity on the card I used for their services, so it was closed and replaced. "Somehow" they charged my bank account $25 and then reversed it, claiming they had no record of the transactions. I screenshot the charges and sent it to them. I was told a manager would follow up with me within two business days. I contacted the BBB to report them and looked into retrieving my property asap. To pick up my things without further help from their company will cost me over $500 versus having their company deliver my things to my new home will cost over $250 per mover, per hour. Not to mention having to pay the remainder of my contracted storage time. Do yourselves a favor and just hire some movers or get a U-Haul and take your things to a public storage facility. I've been a client for years. In fact, "Wally" at Clutter made a big deal out of my being the first client in Chicago. They sent out a big crew and insisted I take pictures and post them. I loved the service at first. You can see your items in storage and pick and choose what you need, etc. Then - the increases. And more price increases. Then 19 per item plus a flat fee. I am going to go bankrupt simply getting my items out of their clutches. I've never been so disappointed in a business. I've been on and off of work due to chronic illness, and I'm terrified of losing my belongings. I originally gave clutter 5 stars after a very positive pick-up experience. The movers were on-time, friendly, and worked hard to pack up my studio apartment. I just signed a lease for a new apartment, so I need all my things back. the earliest deliver I can schedule is 10 days in the future - despite this being the middle of the month, which, they said, was *not* their busiest time. I contacted customer support about the long wait; if other customers cancel their appointment I might get bumped up. But for now it looks like I'm going to be sleeping on the floor for a week. My advice: Clutter is a good solution for non-important storage, but you shouldn't count on it for prompt delivery of things that you might need more urgently. UPDATE: Clutter was able to move my delivery date up - in the end, there was a five day wait between my request and their delivery. In my opinion, this was a very reasonable timeline. The original storage agreement I had was with Make Space. Now, Clutter owns Make Space. My agreement stated I could visit my storage space and select items for removal. Now, that agreement is no more. Now, if I want to remove items I must select items from photos and pay to have the items delivered to a designated location. Or I can have everything removed and delivered to a designated location...for a price. Or I can book a date and time and, if it works for Clutter, bring a truck to the loading dock. All items will be brought to the loading dock and I can load onto my truck. I understand that Clutter operates differently from Make Space. However, I did not agree to this change. I was never given the option to accept this new procedure. The way I found out about this new procedure was by calling to schedule a visit. No visits allowed. The legality of this arbitrary change is questionable, and the new agreement also states that disagreements must go to arbitration. I never agreed to this. The same price, less convenience and service. The Clutter statement claims that nothing has changed and service continues. It does not. It's more expensive, less convenient and a take it or leave attitude. What I will do is contact the Better Business Bureau and complain and the Consumer Protection, here, in Illinois. read more

Get an actual moving company. These folks moved a couch that was in storage into my new home, blasting holes in every wall between the door and the room it went into. They put holes in 5 different walls, acknowledge that they did so, have photos and proof that they did so and have required multiple quotes to fix it. Instead of spending the time to make it right, they've required me to bend over backwards and jump through hoops and still refuse to fix their damage. They are now saying they can pay up to a maxmium of $1000 dollars to fix it, but have only offered 400$. This is after a month of back and forth. They have had the chance to do the right thing time and time again and are refusing to do or or ever allow me to talk with someone in leadership of their hilariously named "Trust & Safety" department. These folks are not to be trusted and they do not put the safety of your items or your home as a priority. Find real moving companies, this company is a scam. read more

Clutter is the biggest rip off in the moving business. They started out as Make Space which was a great concept, pay $79 to pick up and deliver and then pay monthly storage. Overnight Clutter bought them and quadrupled the fees. They buried the change in a terms and conditions email. If your stuff was in their storage now you had to pay an outrageous fee to get it out. I had to pay $1500 (ransom). They charge per item to move. So if a lamp is by itself you get charged the same as a 200 pound box. Find a mover with a good hourly rate per worker and a nice storage facility. Stay away from CLUTTER! read more

This is my second negative review of Clutter. RUN. DO NOT USE. NO NO NO! I store items year round as I live in a small space. For about a decade, I had a 10X10 storage unit at the Lock Up. And it worked. But hauling things myself got old and the storage unit prices went up and up when the facility deteriorated. Along came Clutter. They offered cheaper monthly storage with one free pick up/drop off a month. Ultimately, I'd save my by going with their service if all went as planned. NOPE. My storage price fluctuated though the items brought in and out largely remained the same. I'm currently paying $200 a month for 10X10 storage. Thats a LOT in comparison to the bricks and mortar places in my neighborhood. But then, the difference was in the pick service. Yeah...pick up service. Be prepared to book two weeks in advance in order to get your belongings back or pick them up. And NO they do not allow you to come and pick anything up yourself. Now the kicker. After over two years, they claim Illinois law changed and they are now required to charge $65 per mover for all pick ups and deliveries. Thats a HUGE change to the agreement. They notified me in ONE email, that I clearly missed. So, its xmas time and I need my tree. My tree is in a rolling xmas tree bag. no carrying required. I advise that I only need one mover for my items and schedule both a pick up and drop off two weeks in advance. The movers arrive on time and were very nice. However, there were two of them. And I carried my own box up to my unit while one mover rolled the tree, which I told him he did not have to do. At the end, I was presented with a $130 bill - for something I believed was included in my monthly payment. I called customer service and was told my item was "bulky" and needed two movers. I'm like its a DUFFEL BAG ON WHEELS and I clearly specified upon scheduling that only ONE mover was needed (none really, but that is neither here nor there)...I called back again and the snippy customer service woman, who seemed annoyed that I had to call twice, finally waived ONE mover fee. I'm DONE with clutter. And everyone should avoid. I've reserved space at East Bank. I'm sure the move OUT of clutter is going to cost me $500. And I'm sure I'm not allowed to hire my own movers to remove my items. SCAM. At this point, this entire scheme is an entire fail. They 1) didn't execute what they stated they would when i moved in and 2) they clearly didn't research the law prior to screwing with people to get them to sign up. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! read more

Honestly we have had a horrible experience with clutter. When they were packing up our house they told us 2 hours to put everything in their truck, not only did it actually take 10 hours, they didn't even finish packing our stuff before the closing and we were forced to rent a truck and get an extra storage locker. Come move in day, they could only bring half of our stuff for what ever reason, our closing went late so we were about 30 minutes late. They left and did not come back for MORE then a week.
