Visited on a Wednesday evening and place was not very busy. our server was actually the bartender that I remember from previous visit. he was very sweet, but not trained at all. I went there a while back for my sister's birthday. Awesome food. We had the seafood paella without chorizo. Everything is made fresh and worth the wait. When I asked for hot sauce, a fresh one was made by the chef. I even took the hot sauce home. Lol. I went here two years ago and had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend for people to go here. I did go before they reopened, however I've only heard great things about it since I've been there. I would like to go again I just haven't had time to go over recently. The mango sorbet was phenomenal and they put it inside of a real mango skin! The sorbet was also house made. Yum! Update: went there recently and just as good as before! My (very picky) fiancée and I went to Café Havana for the first time tonight after driving by a thousand times at least... It. Was. Amazing!!! I can't wait to go back. We started with drinks. I had the coquito. What an amazing homage to my Hispanic heritage. So delicious and seasoned perfectly with fresh nutmeg. For appetizers, we had the yuca frita and the appetizer special: sweet corn fritters, by recommendation of our awesome and sweet waiter, John. The fritters (as he said) were delicious and would have made an AMAZING dessert with vanilla ice cream! For dinner, my fiancée had the Pernil which was seasoned beautifully. I had the surf and turf: a whole lobster and churrasco. Oh. My. Word. The steak was out of this world and the lobster was cooked perfectly tender. All in all, we had an amazing dinner. I would give it more stars if the location was better. There is nothing around the area and it looks like a dump. However, the restaurant is very cute and romantic. The bar area is a bit too small compared to the entire place (they could have made it bigger). I know there is a lounge downstairs but it wasn't open when I went. So the food.....it was divine! The presentation was 5-star as well as the taste! I went with the lobster paella and the only thing i regret is not getting the one for two people. Fire clams were really good as well. We also had the coconut shrimp and quesadilla for appz. They have a big patio outside (front) the restaurant where the cars pull up. Cafe Havana was amazing. Me, my girlfriend and her cousin went there for dinner on a Friday night. The atmosphere was great. It was not to upscale yet you can go there for a beautiful meal . The food was fantastic, started with the appetizers. Fried plantain with chorizo meat and cheese was bomb. Tasted perfect. The coconut shrimp actually came in a coconut and the dipping sauce was superb. My gf had the crab avocado salad which stole the show that night. The drinks were strong and the white sangria was awesome (huge pitcher). Last but not least her service was great. Our server was Aryelle and she was very helpful and down to earth. She had great suggestions and guided us great meal choices. All in all is recommend this to anyone who loves Caribbean food and wants to have a great time out with friends and/or family. read more

Talk about surprising. We tried Cafe Havana to check out something new having no idea just how good it was going to be. First off the cocktail selection is tropical and fun. Fruity martinis and classic libations are on the menu and were pretty tasty. Then you must order the empanadas. Ay Caramba! Wonderfully flaky dough encasing some glorious meats. Next, I had the Ropa Vieja which was truly the best I have ever tasted. My boyfriends Cuban Steak was also excellent! Now my only criticism would be the dining room we were in, which was near the bar. It lacked a bit of ambiance so that's the only thing I would change. Came here for a rehearsal dinner and I was thoroughly pleased with how friendly the staff and how accommodating they were to our needs. The food was top notch, Definitley try the empanadas! The skirt steak is seasoned to perfection and is super tender I was able to cut through it with a butter knife. The ambiance makes me feel like I'm on vacation, we came here on a night where the temperature was 90 degrees, I was able to cool down with their homemade sangrias which were super fresh. As for the food the mussels in coconut milk were fantastic as well as the Beef empanadaS. The Shrimp & Octopus Confit was delish and Seafood & Chorizo was also excellent. I must say that the seafood was tender and cooked to perfection. They are on point in the kitchen. At the end of the meal we treated ourselves to Cuban coffee which to my delight the flavor was rich and robust, it finished off our meal perfectly. Our waitress assisted us in the beginning as she attentively made sure we had drinks and our meals were orders but, she disappeared for a good 1/2 hour and that was not good for business. I am assuming they were short handed. It was my first time back in a few years. I was excited to come back for a great meal but, as I said the service was not up snuff. I went for restaurant week. This is the first place that stopped the specials at 7pm. They should state that if they going to be the only ones in Suffolk stopping it at a certain time. They ran out of a dessert due to the special menu earlier. The food was all pretty salty. One friend had pulpo and she said it was good. Unlike what other reviewers said, the drinks were great. Had the coconut shrimp for our appetizer with an actual coconut! The dipping sauce was so yummy with real coconut creaminess, not the mayo dip other places have. I ordered the seafood paella which was so filling I had to bring it home. There was a little weird sand thing from the mussels which always puts me off about mussels. Absolutely to die for!! Restaurant is pretty big and dress in semi formal attire. Nice ambiance and the food is insanely good! They give nice sized portions and the cocktails are phenomenal. Anytime we come here we spend at least $200, so it's not cheap by any means however a nice treat or great for a birthday or occasional splurge. A local favorite! We were looking to start with some drinks at the bar. So the hostess showed us to the bar and found us seats. When we were ready the hostess then showed us to our table. Our server was so nice and knowledgeable. She gave us a bunch of suggestions which we ordered all of them! We started with coconut shrimp which was to die for! The yucca critters were delicious, and the BAKED empanadas were insane! Yes! I said BAKED! We ordered 2 halibut entrees which were baked inside of banana leaves topped with corn and chimmichurri and sprinkled with Spanish cheese. This dish was not only healthy but delicious! We also had 1 ropa vieja which tasted like we were sitting in Cuba! My wife had the pollo Cubano which tasted like someone's Cuban grandmother was chained to the stove cooking authentic dishes all night! Everything was just aaaaammmaaazzziinnngg! I have been going to Cafe Havana for many years. It has always been a great dining experience. Last year- I celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at this restaurant since I knew the food, drinks and Spanish music would make her birthday celebration a fun one! This past Saturday, June 18th I went to Cafe Havana to celebrate Father's Day with my family. Needless to say- it was truly disappointing! To begin, my pina colada drink arrived in a small glass- not the usual big curvy glass for Pina Coladas. I asked the waitress why my drink came in a small glass- she said the bartender ran out of the regular curvy glass. I asked the waitress if they are going to bring to our table their usual plantain chips or bread? She said - they no longer bring anything to the table to pick on! We now put in our orders for appetizers. I ordered two orders of empanadas chickens and beef. According to the waitress, we could not mix and match the empanadas because they don't allow that on the weekends. The 3 empanadas were really "mini" empanadas and the beef empanadas had beans in them! And they should not! Cuban- Puertorrican empanadas DO NOT have beans in them! We also ordered tostones rellenos- which I have ordered many times before as well. This time the tostones rellenos had mozzarella cheese on top. Since when does Tostones rellenos come with cheese on top? Not good! I expressed my disappointment to the waitress and she had the manager come over. The manager was young and was dress as a waiter- not sure if he was the manager or just the person in charge that night. This manager was very apologetic and did admit the owner has made changes to the menu. I mentioned my pina colada served in a small glass and he said that "never" happens and told me he did speak to the bartender about it. The last thing I notice- the music playing was in English! They did not play their typical Spanish Music! I asked the manager about the music, and he did not have an answer! What a shame- My favorite Spanish Restaurant is no longer my favorite! Oh and by the way- there is a surcharge for paying with a credit card... which they do not tell you about until you get the bill!! read more

We were greeted in a very friendly manner, and there was live music when we walked in. our server and all of the staff we interacted with were top notch, attentive, polite and respectful. The food was delicious. We had a bit of a wait for food and drinks but not terribly bad considering the restaurant was busy. The spinach empanadas were very good as well as the Mac and cheese appetizer and the clams. I recommend this place and will be back. read more

We had been looking forward to come to this place especially after all the great reviews. The 6 of us finally went, nice place and service, but when we order some appetizers and 4 main course, we were told the remaining 2 people will need to pay $6 for plate sharing. We are Asian and can never finish the big portion of food if we order 6 main courses, so the waitress told us we can order $6 worth of food to cover the cost. We just don't find it right especially a busy restaurant like that. Looks like they just wanna only serve big eater customers. Not gonna come back. read more

This is my new favorite place. The ambience is great. The drinks were so delicious. I recommend the tropical martini. For appetizers, My daughter wanted the empanadas, they were good.
