From the moment we arrived, the rooftop ambiance totally set the mood. Think ocean breeze, cozy seating, and a laid-back yet stylish atmosphere that feels like a little escape right in the heart of town. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the whole place lit up with lights and just the right playlist in the background. Instant vibe. Our server, Sophia, was amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She recommended the Oside Rider, and wow. It's one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. Refreshing, balanced, and just the right amount of tropical kick. Trust Sophia on this one. Now let's talk food. The Pineapple Express tri-tip skewers were the star of the show. Juicy, tender, and perfectly grilled with a sweet-savory glaze that made each bite better than the last. It's the kind of dish you order "to share," but end up guarding with your life. Every detail--from the food and drinks to the welcoming staff and unforgettable views--makes Cococabana a must-visit. The urban rooftop bar is a good idea, especially for a beach city downtown area. The view is ok. The hotel mid-rises block the ocean, but you can some views. It's on the 4th floor. The place is very tiny. Make reservations if you're looking to eat, otherwise they get busy and it's standing room only. Standing room is cool unless you let big strollers come up and take half of the standing room. That's my biggest problem with this place. It's super small, but they allow people with huge strollers come up and block spaces. When we came there were 2 big strollers. Go bring your baby to a kid friendly place. They should ban strollers, especially for their limited capacity. The cocktails were alright. My drink was super sweet. My husbands old fashion was also super sweet. The drinks aren't greatly crafted. Go to Frankie's if you want something really good, otherwise this is mainly because it's new and there's no other urban rooftop bar. We didn't try food because our friend told us the food was okay and not worth it, and it's tapas style but entree pricing. Meaning small portions and big price tag. Good to try once though! Would I come back? Probably not. Too limited seating and not sure the vibe. Is it a drinking rooftop for adults vibe or is it for families with young babies vibe? read more

Another great find in Oceanside!! Came here for late afternoon drinks with the hubby and some friends. We were greeted with a wonderful bright view of the ocean as we walked off the elevator and seated ourselves at one of the booths near a heat lamp. It was Taco Tuesday so we had to try them and we're glad we did! These are definitely elevated with lots of bold flavors and the steak taco was our favorite! The plantain chips and guacamole was also super tasty and different from typical guacamole. They also had some drinks specials we took advantage of and a sunset shot, which were all good and really fun. Service was excellent. It got busier as the day drained into night and music was lively. 5 stars for the vibe, decor, sea views, vacation feeling...but I felt ripped off. I should have checked the size of the dishes before going. The pulpo ceviche was good but was so tiny and priced like an entree. It was so tiny that I ended up eating half of the insipid omelette that my friend ordered. My mocktail was ok but I guess overpriced to, we only had 2 dish-appetizer size and she had an alcoholic drink and mine was not and the bill was exorbitant. If I go again will be only to have a drink before or after going to have proper dinner somewhere. The rooftop is super cute and all light pink very girly. There was no man to be seen (not a place to meet your potential lover for sure, ladies). Even the bathroom decor was super cute with the window framing a palm tree from the library across. Very nice touch with the plants and the tropicalia feeling. All that is great, but they need to work in making food more affordable or at least that you dont leave hungry. We took the stairs down checking if the restaurant in the bottom was open (not until later) so we went to eat something more to the bakery/cafe across the street. We took so many cool pictures to show on Instagram, that is for sure. And going to Cococabana was the perfect excuse to visit Oceanside after years and years and see so many cool changes and new restaurants and bars too. read more

We came for dinner and drinks without a reservation, but were able to snag open seating at the bar. They said they were full on reservations, but it looks like many no showed as they had plenty of open seats. Located on the 4th floor of the newly opened Brick Hotel, you can take the elevator up or walk up the stairs. 5 stars for the view -- you can see the ocean, but it's mainly buildings since it's not quite waterfront. I do love a good rooftop concept, so definitely coming back for that. 3 stars for the drinks -- we enjoyed the three drinks we tried (Oside Rider, Shanghai Sally, and Crocket & Tubs). Refreshing, drinkable cocktails. Nothing special though, but nothing bad. They do have the copper flamingo that looks to carry the same drink as Miss B's in Mission Beach, which is a fun group drink. 1 star for the food -- we ordered the Whole Fish and Roasted Mushrooms. The portions are tapas sizes, but entree prices. Fish tasted good, but kind of a pain to eat with lots of small bones. Of course a whole fish has bones, so that's not their fault, but in retrospect, this seems like a poor menu option for the bar atmosphere. The roasted mushrooms also tasted bitter and earthy, which wasn't exactly bad, but not pleasant. The item has egg yolk listed, but I found some raw egg white in the dish which made me a bit queasy. No rating for the service yet -- it's new and they're definitely still working things out. read more

This place just opened up here in Oceanside! I've been so excited to try it out. I'm so glad we did! The drinks were so good. The view was so nice and relaxing. Make sure to bring your $$ because this place is expensive. We got 2 drinks each and we paid $60 including tip. So, they are good... but you're going have to pay. I suggest you make reservations or go right when it opens. Because they account for every seat. The girl in the front radioed up to the bar area notifying them of how many people are going up. And you can't just sit anywhere. Because every seat looks like it's reserved. We sat at the bar. I would totally go back to this bar. And suggest it to my friends. read more

Super pumped to try this new spot out! Amazing atmosphere and cool vibe! I was too busy eating to take too many pictures, but I did snap a pic of one of the prawns. Those suckers were huge and filling! I really liked the taste! I also tried the wagyu skewers, and oysters which were great! My favorite was probably the Angus New York prime strip! I came here a while back, but it was during a weekday. I had an amazing time so I figured I would try out a Friday night. It was very busy with no tables available so I went to the bar. I had the same two bartenders, Moriah and Tony.... To my surprise they both remembered my by name, and even asked about my dog!! It was a nice day to be out, so we wanted to check out the rooftop bar at the top of The Brick Hotel! You overlook parts of downtown and can see the ocean and pier from up here. Sitting on the top of the roof with the nice weather reminds us what we are paying for here in Southern California! ;-) So I ordered the Caribe Welcome and hubby got the virgin Piña Colada. My drink looked all cool in a coconut! My drink wasn't too strong, which was fine with me, cuz my head starts to feel a little weird if it was! I know, I know, I am not a big drinker and I just have an occasional cocktail. I don't think I can handle the more heavy handed liquor. ;-p Anyways, so that we're not drinking on an empty stomach, which I have found for me is NOT good, we ordered some food. Because this is more of a bar, it's like having bar bites, but fancy. We got the the following: Wagyu skewers - you get two skewers. Of course, since I'm a meat kinda girl, I wanted more! This was really good! Pulpo Ceviche - really like the seasoning they used. The mango relish was really nice. Yum! Jerk Butter Oysters - butter? Yes, please! Not just butter but jerk butter...mmm...and it had candied mango and was served with a couple small pieces of sourdough bread. So sad that there were only three! The view is great. The drinks were a new blend in creation of flavors. I tried three different ones and out of two of the three I was very pleased. As well as the food I had a bad experience. We had a $525 bill And the server seem to be very nonchalant about my incident. But I approached a manager and he was so pleasant to speak to. He definitely change my mind to a second chance at this restaurant. I will definitely be going back hopefully receive a better experience. Honestly had a really fun time - the drinks were delicious (I had a pomegranate margarita and the Tuesday shot, something with tequila and watermelon) and it was a perfect summer night to be on the roof. There was some kind of crema on my steak tacos that I loved and I ate absolutely everything. I came as a larger group of seven and we thankfully had a reservation so we were seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful and obligingly took multiple pictures of our group. So why isn't this a 5-star rave? Pricing. First is the inconsistency with the taco plate pricing (see picture with menu). If you buy 3 steak tacos, that's $15. With the rice and beans, it comes to $23 or $8 for those sides. OK, little pricey but steak is my favorite meat so yeah I'm going to order it. Let's look at the chicken and shrimp. The chicken tacos are 3 for $9 or $16 for the plate, a $7 difference for the sides. The shrimp would be 3 for $12 or $18 for the plate, a mere $6 difference. Um, why do the sides cost differently based on the meat you're getting? Second, I was actually charged $24 for the steak taco plate. I guess my bad, for not reviewing my receipt earlier and assuming the listed prices were real. There's also apparently a 5% surcharge not communicated on signage on the walls (I've often seen this by the host stand) or the Taco Tuesday menu. I also skimmed through the full menu and didn't see a mention there either. I honestly feel really ripped off. read more

Plus size friendly - (will I be comfortable). There's booths where the tables move if you need extra space, high table tops and bar seating. I didn't notice any chairs with arms. The menu is small, so if you're someone who's picky it might not be for you. They cook on a grill, so the options are limited but very delicious. We started with the charbroiled cauliflower - packed with flavor and a decent size. We also had the pulpo ceviche- also yummy BUT, it doesn't come with anything to eat it with. We asked for a side of bread and only got 3 tiny pieces... then we noticed their breakfast menu had plantain chips, so we asked for those and she brought out the sweet caramelized ones so that just defeated the purpose. We all ordered the burger- TONS of flavor, and we all devoured it. Drinks were great and pretty! We tried a few... Oside Rider, Shanghai Sally, Caribe welcome, and Miami pound machine. The "Smoked" bacon is precooked paper thin bacon they serve at subway....but this is a sit down restaurant. I asked from scrambled eggs and received an omelette basically. Disgusting. I want to preface this review by saying it would have been a 1 star if it weren't for the manager Tony making things right after what I'd call a less than pleasant experience. This place honestly has the potential to be great. Located on the rooftop of the newly built brick hotel, cococabana boasts scenic views of the ocean and downtown Oceanside. It's trendy, and they have fun cocktails & music. I am a firm believer in learning from mistakes. Even though the situation was rectified, it's important to be aware of the issues and work on improving and preventing the same mistakes from happening in the future. Service started out slow. And that's not something to be too upset about but our server changed in the middle of our time there with no warning or explanation. And she dropped the ball on everything we had ordered. It took nearly 45 minutes to get our food after ordering, and it came out very sporadically- one member of our group who came late and ordered last received her food first. The "salad" which was a tiny plate of the lettuce nobody likes came without dressing and three of us had ordered it- one with shrimp, one with beef tenderloin skewer and one as is. The beef one arrived with chicken; rather than leaving the salad and bringing back a beef skewer they took hers away while mine which had no protein added never showed. The beef tenderloin salad came dead last with an additional 30 minute wait time. The "açaí" bowl is a not açaí but yogurt- not ideal for a person with a lactose intolerance with no warning on the description. The breakfast sand which (which 3 of us ordered) was fine, but not worth $18 in the least, as it was underwhelming and mostly a dry croissant. A few members of the group opted for bottomless mimosas which weren't being refilled at any bottomless rate. The prices for the food for what it was, was not worth it. At all. That being said, as previously mentioned, we expressed our concerns with our new server (Rosa- who by the way was AMAZING) and she was able to send over the supervisor. He took extraordinary care of us and made things right, which is HUGE and greatly appreciated. Hoping some of this feedback is helpful to improve things so that other people don't need to experience this. read more

Our group of 5 visited the Cococabana on a Sunday evening. Immediately upon entering, I noticed my feet sticking to the floor, which truly portended the evening ahead of us. After being seated directly in front of the speaker system (which was exceptionally loud and led to complaints from other patrons until it was finally turned down), we realized that the seating and "table" were woefully inadequate. We were, in essence, crammed together on an undersized padded couch and various seats no bigger than tiny barstools. The "table" itself was no more than about a 15" radius platform and nowhere near big enough to put our drinks down, let alone food. As for the food itself, words cannot express my utter disappointment (though I will try). Everything on the menu is simultaneously overpriced, undersized, and lacking in flavor, creativity, and presentation. I ordered the shrimp, and what I received was four shrimp (the ones with the heads and eyes still attached) with no sides, etc. (again, THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS for four normal-sized shrimp and nothing else). My friends fared no better. For example, my husband ordered the tenderloin skewers. The meat itself was chewy and flavorless and was accompanied by potato/hash fries that were so dry that he thought he was chewing on tree bark. Astoundingly, the restaurant also charges a 5% surcharge for God knows what, before you even get to tipping the server. We ended up walking out hungry and $300 poorer. Our server was, at best, inattentive and, more accurately, entirely absent from our excursion. She received a 20% tip based on our pre-conceieved notion of social convention, not because of anything she did. Finally, the restaurant gets 2 stars, instead of 1, because: (1) the ambiance is kind of cool, and (2) the drinks were very strong (which, in retrospect, helped us tolerate the overall feeling of being supremely ripped off). In sum, I cannot recommend the Cococabana, and we will not be returning. There are various rooftop restaurants in the downtown Oceanside area with better food, service, and views that are more economically practical. read more

The cocktails were fantastic! We had great service, and it was a very cute rooftop bar setting with fun decor. They really just need to work on the food... it was really bad. We had the plantain chips and guac. The guac tasted like one you would find packaged grocery store...not good and processed. The cauliflower dish was also pretty gross. We were a little bummed out, and hope they can update the quality of the food. I do think I would return for cocktails but wouldn't eat the food even if it was free. read more

I went to this place after dining at Q&A, which is downstairs. I love this place. We came here for drinks, listen to good music and we even spotted fireworks! This place is a 4th floor rooftop with a nice view of downtown Oceanside. It's a perfect spot for a casual dining and drinks. Service was good. We were well taken care of. We didn't order food but will Definitely come back to try their food and will come when it's broad daylight to enjoy the view of the ocean. I recommend this place. Was in town in Oceanside for a day and made reservations here for a quick bite to eat. The places is super cute. Downstairs is a different restaurant I believe but Cococabana is in the upstairs rooftop. They got us seated right away and the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. We order guac, Tenderloin bites, Chicken tenders. Everything was pretty good and tasty. Had a great vibe, beautiful views, but last night it was just too cold and windy to be on the rooftop but we still toughed it out :) glad we stopped by here. read more
