They have very limited menu. They specialize at korean walnut snacks. They sell other drinks like strawberry slushy etc. I never tried the drinks but tried the walnut snacks. They have bean paste..? (paat in korean) and actual walnut inside! Walnut snacks are called walnut because of their appearance, but these have roasted walnut inside. Anyone who has nut allergies.. You've been warned. But the snacks are so good that if you stuff it into your mouth, As far as i can remember, they sell 9 pieces for 3 dollars and 15 pieces for 5 dollars which is pretty reasonable. Gift wrapped are also available in their menu. I think it was 12 pieces in a gift box for 5 dollars. Since it was their grand opening, an owner was there and other two staffs doing all the wrappings and there were people going in and out. They were too kind!! :D They don't add tax.. or maybe it's included in the price already. when it says five dollars, it's five dollar. Solid. Hodo Kwaja is AWESOME!!! Tried this little Korean confection for the first time in Buena Park. My family and I purchased some tea and coffee which were good but the star of the visit was the little Walnut & Red Bean filled treat. The Hodo Kwaja are freshly made and warm. They are lightly sweetened and filled with a complementing red bean filling. The quality of the hodo gwaja here is exceptional. The ratio of red bean to walnut to exterior is great and there are few joys greater than eating one of these just made and still warm. In terms of their famous, this place is a huge 5. I also tried their coffee bingsoo which dropped this review to what I wish could be a 4.5. The red bean was a little overwhelming and I found it hard to balance with the icy coolness of the shaved ice that I come to expect from this fave summer treat of mine. Adorable little cafe! The walnut pastry is what they specialize in here. They're similar to Japanese taiyaki; sweet red bean paste filling inside bread. The difference with this is the walnut inside. Now, I'm not much of a pastries fan, but I was willing to give this baby a try because of all the rave reviews. I think the pastry itself is relatively good and people who enjoy pastries will most likely love it. It's definitely fun to eat and great when paired with some hot tea. The walnut is my favorite part and I have to say I really love the individual wrappings! The price is good for the amount. I paid $5 for a 15 piece snack bag, but I dropped in near the end of the night for them so I think the cashier actually gave me a bit more, maybe around 20 pieces instead. Score! My first time here, and found service welcoming and helpful. I was looking for the black bean smoothie, which apparently they only carry the grain latte and smoothie, so I was curious about that. The guy (forgot his name) was extremely helpful in trying to describe the flavour - for those curious, I got the grain smoothie and it tastes like a blended cereal. I have been coming here for the past few years on a regular basis. Gotta say I'm very disappointed in their service. Because of technical issues, I had to wait 30+ minutes for a small box and a small bag of hodo gwaja. I wouldn't have been so irked, but another customer who ordered 15 minutes after me was served before me. And to top off my frustration, older customers got served free coffee and macarons for "waiting" while I paid for my cup of coffee that wasn't even filled all the way. read more

I love these walnut pastry. They get pretty dangerous because you don't realize how many you've eaten until you see all the paper wrappers = addicting. I like mine fresh out the oven, because the red bean filling is still soft. If you prefer your red bean filling to be a little more dense, then wait to eat it. It was a drive to get here with my family, but upon arrival, there was a sign (in Korean) that said they were all sold out of their infamous walnut pastries. Um. But they do still sell coffee and other things right? Irrelevant, apparently, since my family just stood there while the workers congregated near the back and just chatted. My dad, being the Korean that he is, patiently waited for several minutes before asking them if they were even going to bother to talk to us. The girl seemed apologetic and slightly embarrassed (my dad talks loud when he wants to, okay?) but she kinda just stood there and even bother to try to take our order for anything else so we ended up just walking out. I'm Korean which means that my childhood was spent eating these baked goods. I loved going on road trips in Korea because my dad would always buy me a bag of them at a rest stop and they always tasted amazing to me. I've tried some in the states hoping they would live up to the ones in my memories and I have to say that Cocohodo comes the closest but they are also the priciest. They are served fresh and taste the best when they are hot. Basically it is a cake ball with a soft red bean center and a walnut in the center. Hidden treasure! My boss, an older Korean man, brought these into work once day. They're cute with cute packaging. At that moment, I thought .. this must be great for parents, aunts, uncles, etc. So I quickly spotted the label and saved it as a bookmark and knew it would come in handy! A few months later, I brought these to my bf's grandma's birthday party. I got (2) boxes of 15 pcs, nicely and individually wrapped and packaged perfectly! $13 for both boxes! As soon as we arrived to his uncle's house, it was a hit! I'm so happy everyone loved these little red bean/walnut treasures! A lot of them even wanted to take some home, but they went quick! This is a really cute little coffee shop that's great for meeting up with friends over coffee and sweets. Admittedly, that's not what I originally showed up for when I stumbled upon Cocohodo looking for a place to study and do work... but no one seemed to mind as I camped out in the corner with my laptop for a couple of hours. I ordered a caramel macchiato hot, which was sweet but not so much so that it masked the coffee. I wish I had checked Yelp a little more thoroughly and picked up a walnut pastry! I'll definitely remember to get one the next time I'm able to come by. Also, service was excellent. I came here because I was going to bring my friend a milkshake to work. I only had thirty minutes until my shift started so I was pressed on time and yelp lead me here. For the record, they do not sell milkshakes here. I was already running late so I settled for a smoothie. I paid about five bucks. It was ok. Nothing special. Randomly came here on morning whim and was happy to have stopped by. I grabbed a Handy Box for the Cocohodo Walnut Pastry. This was my first try into this pastry and man... this is a fantastic item to have. Soft and not overly obtrusive with the walnuts, but the right balance of dough and walnut. I have tried other walnut pastries since coming here and others just don't compare. In addition to this I ordered an Iced Coco Latte. Ah, cocohodo I'm so glad theres one near my house! I used to go to City Market in LA all the time to get these babies. It's funny how I used to hate these walnut cookies but ever since trying cocohodo.. I've been hooked! These round balls are filled with a red bean paste and a whole walnut. It's quite heavenly when they're still warm and best enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee! They also make great gifts considering that they wrap these little guys up individually and even have gift boxes for a small fee. My mother-in-law was quite impressed and loved them more than I did! Three stars for me folks. Came here after school to study/work for a bit. Ordered an iced Americano and a medium bag of pastries - I was pretty hungry and was hoping this would hold me over til dinner. The Americano was meh. Typical Korean bakery level stuff where everyone orders Americano because they think it's fancy or something. But if you know coffee, this is no bueno. Beans taste burnt and was super watery. I asked the barista how many espresso shots this had, and he (sympathetically) said one. For a medium sized cup (maybe like 16 oz) full of ice, this is a kind of drink old Asian folks would drink. He gave me an extra shot for free. Nice guy. The pastries were decent. I really appreciated that every pastry had a big piece of walnut in it! No skimping here. They were individually wrapped (seems kinda a waste but they claim its for freshness) and warm when they came out. And this one was on me - I thought because they were called cocohodo, that these were chocolate filled. But they are not... class red bean. Usually I don't like them because they're too sweet, but I thought the ones here were sweet enough without overly being two sweet. So why I am sitting here at Stereoscope coffee co writing this review? Well my friends, there are two things you never want to mess with: (1) God, and (2) older Asian women. No I didn't get into a tussle with an older lady. But I came here to work, and despite my earphones that have pretty good seal to them, the decibel level of these Asian ladies when they talk is out of this world. I thought maybe my earphones fell out, and so I pulled them out to settle them in again, but I was hit with a sonic boom of "Omg did your try this product? A new Cocohodo is opening in Torrance, soon, but I just could not wait, especially since I'm returning to Chicago for school. Hence, I did the next rational thing! My parents and I took a mini trip to Buena Park and bought 21 pieces of hodoo gwaja for our family. Our family is blessed yet cursed with sensitive tastebuds, so we were excited to try a quality . While the cake is thick, it is neither overbearing nor dry! Thank goodness. Moist and soft, the cake provides much delight for the mouth. The redbean paste pleasantly surprised us, because it wasn't too sweet. Most other bakeries add too much sugar, so I rarely want to continue eating the pastry. The red bean paste: cake ratio was perfect. More importantly, though, the size of the walnut in the cake gave the whole ball of goodness the final flavorful punch of nuttiness and richness. Finally, we have found a bakery that generously uses walnuts! I actually managed to relish 3 hodoo gwajas, while both my parents enjoyed 4 each. That is something new! Im from the bay, and its hard to come by really good fresh korean pastries. My boyfriend and I Stumbled into Cocohodo while visiting his cousins in fullerton. I heard the walnut pastries here were good from his cousins. I didn't know they were THAT good. I don't even like Walnuts and I fell in love with the walnut pastries. Soooooo bomb!!! Been coming here since it first opened and I finally got a chance to write a review for this place. The staff us always courteous and attentive and gives a service with a smile. The hodo gwaja is really good when it's fresh here and they even have boxed versions if your taking it as a present or something.
